What casino games should i play

: Choosing the right casino game to play is very important. A novice gambler should not be playing games of skill such as blackjack and poker, and needs to be informed of what the other games have to offer. Slot Machines, in the days of the Wild West Slot Machines were known as one arm bandits because you could sit there all day putting in coins and pulling that handle without ever getting a win and the same is true today. Today's slot machines have more ways to win, so you probably will not go all day winning nothing but other then some small five dollar or less wins you probably won't do to well on the slot machines. If you insist this is the game for you try to remember that the more the machine is the better the odds of you getting a bigger win. Roulette, this is a good game for the beginner with just a little bit of knowledge you can play roulette because it requires no real skill or experience. The only thing you need to know are the procedures to playing in a casino, and the different bets you can make. All of these things can be learned by just watching the table for a few spins of the wheel before placing any bets. By sticking to what is called betting the outside of the table you can give yourself odds as low and 1 in 5 of being able to double your money. Unless you have the money to risk it is not a good idea to bet the inside of the table, the odds are bad but if you do win it can be up to a 37 to 1 payoff. Keno, this is a game that older people and people with little money enjoy. Keno is basically playing a lottery that has a drawing every 5 minutes. The object is to guess which numbers the computer is going to select. Depending on how many numbers you get right and how much you paid for the game winning can pay up to 1 million dollars. Craps, even though Roulette may be easier to play for a novice player, it offers the best odds for the player in the casino. To most people who have never played craps before it can seem like a very difficult game, but after watching a few rounds of the game for a bit you will quickly pick up on how to bet, and most players say of all the most Popular Casino Games craps is much easier to win larger sums of money in the casino. Poker an Blackjack are two games that should be avoided by beginner gamblers, the games rely on more skill then luck, and by not knowing the game you will also be messing up the other players who know what they are doing, and they are counting on the fact that if you sit down at the table with them that you know what to do. If it is these games that interest you then before you go to the casino spend some time learning the game and playing as many hands either in an online casino practice room or you can download one of the many programs available on the internet.

What day job new gaming trend means users can live off their console

The gaming industry is bigger than ever and as such so are the opportunities to make a living from gaming. In Korea, gaming competitions are beginning to take on some of the stature of major league sports and as the West follows suit, the chance for players to earn a wage from their console becomes evermore a reality. Battle24-7.com co-founder Francesco Albamonte states "If people are good they can make money. It’s as simple as that. As long as they have a venue to play from their only limitation is their skill." Skill based gaming online has, until now, mostly been limited to casual games and traditional board games but as technology improves and console gamers demand more venues for their style of gaming, ever increasing avenues are opening up. With some console tournaments giving prizes in the thousands, it might be time to rethink your stance on video games. China already recognize gaming as a sport with 50 million serious video gamers in China alone and to coincide with the Olympics, GGL Global Gaming are holding the ‘Digital Games’ and are expecting more visitors and entrants than the Olympics themselves. "This really shows how far competitive gaming has come," states Albamonte "and with the exposure the Olympics are going to get it’s inevitable that some of that focus will be on competitive gaming." For all those unable to attend the ‘Digital Games’ this year, websites such as Battle24-7.com should keep your skills polished and hopefully line your pockets ready for the next one in London in 2012.

What do chuzzle jewel quest and fairies have in common and why are they so fun

Three of the most popular online games out there, Chuzzle, Jewel Quest and Fairies, may appear to be quite different, but in reality, share a very similar game architecture and strategy component. What’s different? They all have a unique theme and visual appearance. With Chuzzle, it’s the cute little fuzzy characters. With Jewel Quest, it’s all about turning sand into gold, and with Fairies, its rescuing the whimsical and hunted fairy ladies. All appealing, and all extremely addictive! So what are these games really all about? Chuzzle This relatively new and extremely fun puzzle game features rows of fuzzy “Chuzzles” that you must drag up and down, and left and right, to match a variety of colors. Once you do, the Chuzzles will pop in dramatic fashion and return to their little test-tube home. Choose from four play modes: Zen mode, Speed mode, Classic Chuzzle and Mind Bendex mode. It also features two difficulty levels. If you’re good, and make a high level of Chuzzle color matches, you get to go on to the next level where the game gets tougher, the Chuzzle locks come more frequently. But there’s an upside - the bonuses get higher. So what’s the verdict on Chuzzle? It’s a super fun game with non-stop action and lots of exciting pops! If you haven’t tried it, give it a whirl! Jewel Quest Like Chuzzle, the object of Jewel Quest from iWin is to score as many points as possible by matching items and turning sand to gold. However, with this game, there are six different items that need to be lined up horizontally or vertically in groups of 3 or more. Once you do, you have a match! What happens then? The matched items are removed and new items will fall into the empty spaces from the top of the board. A few key points to keep in mind with Jewel Quest: - Making moves in rapid succession will give you a higher score. - Matching both items that you swap and in multiple directions can result in the best chain reactions. - Matching items towards the bottom of the board gives more opportunity for chain reactions. - The most difficult spaces to turn into gold are the four corner spaces. Your Jewel Quest journal will help give you the wisdom of the ancient scripts and assist you in discovering the fabled Tonatiuh - The Temple of the Fifth Sun. And it will also give you hours and hours of fun! Fairies Have you ever been to a Renaissance Fair? Well then, perhaps you will enjoy Fairies. This appealing online game takes you to a place of fabled legends and magical reality. You become the almighty and powerful wizard, given the rare chance to rescue the troubled group of fairies who have been captured by an evil force. Again, like Chuzzle and Jewel Quest, you’ll see the similarities. But, with its whimsical, other-world feel, it’s more different than alike. With Fairies, you are seemingly transported to this other world and asked to be the hero. The question is, will you save the troubled fairies? And how many will you save? If you complete the hundred individual levels, you’ll be sure to restore balance to their world and have a ton of fun in the process! So, what specifically do these great games have in common? They are all classic match-style games. Simply put, your job is to find the commonality between the individual pieces, and put them together. Why is this basic premise so mentally stimulating? Because our brains are conditioned this way in the first place. It’s one of the key qualities our mental faculties possess to help us make sense of the world. Grouping things together into their rightful places is an important skill to use – and get good at. Think about it: when you’re putting groceries away, what are you doing? When you plan your Saturday schedule with the kids, what are you doing? When you’re deciding what to wear in the morning, how are you going about it? That’s right – you are putting things together in logical places, in logical order or the way you think things will compliment other things. The popularity of these games continues. Other games like Super Collapse III have similar game play, and with the third edition to the Super Collapse series coming out, these games continue to earn the interest and dedication of game playing fans. Why are Chuzzle, Jewel Quest and Fairies so fun? Charming graphics, simple strategy, catchy music and they relax and stimulate your mind at the same time. A great escape!

What do you need to set up your own home entertainment system

So if you’ve decided that you want to take the plunge and install a home entertainment system in your house, exactly what equipment should you get? This can be complicated, especially when it comes to hooking it all up, but as long as you do a little research before you buy anything you should be fine. The first thing you need is your ‘screen’: that is, either a TV or a projector. For most people, a large plasma or LCD TV will probably be best – true enthusiasts might want to try a projector, but they tend to have all sorts of problems, not least of which is finding a wall big enough and empty enough to project onto effectively. The next thing you need is the DVD player, which should be a high-quality model, not some cheap one from the supermarket. You might think that all DVD players were created equal when it comes to picture and sound quality, but that’s just not true – there is a notable difference in quality when it comes to high-end models. You will also want a surround sound system, to make it seem like the sound is filling the room and coming from all directions. There is almost no limit to how much you can spend on sound, so don’t go too far overboard – stick to a reasonably basic surround sound configuration, instead of getting a very high-end one that requires you to mount huge numbers of speakers all over your room. Finally, silly as it might sound, a very important part of your equipment is the cables that you use to hook it all together. Cheap cables will cause some of the picture and sound quality to be lost in transmission between the different devices, while better quality cables will produce a notable difference. Again, don’t go too far and spend ridiculous amounts on golden cables, but don’t skimp on it either.

What does it take to put pizzaz in your presentations

There are many ways to get your audience involved in your presentation. Some are audience participation, stories, jokes, silly stunts, or songs. All of these work well, but they won't work if you are a dud! Listen to these words: Sparkle, lighten up, silly - What do they mean to you? Some days when you are doing a presentation you sometimes don't feel like being there or even being around people! This normal, but everyone can spot it when you aren't all there. NOTE#### You have about five seconds to grab your audience's attention before they go nuts on you! There are four areas you need to work on to insure that "Pizzazz" takes place. 1. Your introduction: Do you know how to introduce yourself? Do you have a good handshake? Do you smile and look people in the eye? How do you look? Clean? A slob? Wrinkled? 2. Your surroundings: Does it smell? Is it to small? To big? To cold? To hot? To noisy? As you can see the list can go on. 3. Your presentation: Have you planned the program? Are you well prepared for emergencies? Is your presentation clearly outlined? Do you know what the outcome is supposed to be? 4. Are you fun to be around?: Do you have a sense of humor? Are you serious about non-serious things? Do you have an attitude? Do you complain in front of your audience? KISMIF (KEEP IT SIMPLE, MAKE IT FUN!) OR KISMIF (KEEP IT SILLY, MAKE IT FANTASTIC!)

    What is a giclee

: In the French dictionary a giclee (zhee-CLAY) will be defined as meaning “to spray or squirt.” However others might say "giclee" doesn't mean "to spray,” that "Giclee" isn't an infinitive and that it is the feminine of a past participle. So if there is some argument over what the term Giclee means I believe that the intention of the term is to define a printed copy of an original artwork. Giclee is basically scanning the artwork and then using that scan to print it out on a special printer. This printer is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger. Giclee prints are a little over a meter wide and are often referred to as a “knitting machine” as they look very similar. Giclees are produced from digital scans of existing artwork. Also, since many artists now produce only digital art, there is no "original" that can be hung on a wall. Giclees solve that problem, while creating a whole new vibrant digital medium for art. When printing there are any number of media for example canvas to watercolor paper to transparent acetates. Giclees are better then the traditional lithography in many ways. The colors are brighter, last longer and are so high-resolution that they are virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots. The range of color for giclees is far beyond that of lithography, and by viewing in comparison with each other you will find that the details are far crisper in giclee. Lithography prints use tiny dots of four colors--cyan, magenta, yellow and black; to fool the eye into seeing various hues and shades. Colors are "created" by printing different size dots of these four colors. Again Giclees use inkjet technology, but more sophisticated than your desktop printer. The process employs six colors--light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta, yellow and black--of lightfast, pigmented inks and finer, more numerous, and replaceable print heads resulting in a wider color gamut, and the ability to use various media to print on. The ink is sprayed onto the page, actually mixing the color on the page to create true shades and hues. Giclees were originally developed as a proofing system for lithograph printing presses, but it became apparent that the presses were having a hard time delivering the quality and color of the giclee proofs. They evolved into the more popular form over lithography’s and are now the cheaper and more common way to make a copy print. They are coveted by collectors for their fidelity and quality, and desired by galleries because they don't have to be produced in huge quantities with their large layout of capital and storage. In addition, Giclees are produced directly from a digital file that is created by scanning the original. This will save generations of detail-robbing negatives and printing plates, as with traditional printing. View our Fine Art Gallery at houseofcachet

What is a monoprint what is foxing

What is a Monoprint? A monoprint is frequently interchanged with the word "monotype". "Monoprint" tends to be used by academics versus those selling art to the design community who prefer the word "monotype". An artist starts by "painting" or "drawing" with ink on a surface such as a printmaking plate made of aluminum or zinc. Some use a large pane of Plexiglas to paint on. The resulting image is transferred to a piece of paper by placing a sheet of paper on top of the inked plate, running it through a press. One monoprint is yielded looking like what the artist drew with ink. Some residue of ink remains on the printmaking plate. That faint residue of ink becomes the platform from which the artist builds his/her next composition. The secondary composition can employ different colors as well as compositional changes. An advantage of making monoprints is the creation of a rhythm of working, saving time by creating subsequent compositions using the "ghost image" as a starting point for the next work of art. What is Foxing? Foxing is is a condition flaw on a work on paper. Foxing yields a freckled appearance typically of red brown spots. Currently it is believed these are iron oxides and hydroxides produced by the chemical reaction between the organic acids discharged by mold and the colorless iron salts and impurities embedded in the paper. Dampness encourages mold. Some types of sizing in the paper also attract fungus growth. Acidic contact materials such as cardboard and animals glues can aggravate the foxing. Only a professional paper conservator can minimize the appearance of foxing safely. To read more on this topic, I suggest The Care of Prints and Drawings by Margaret Holben Ellis as well as Prints and The Print Market by Theodore B. Donson.

    What is a still life

Still Life is an art term, that refers to a special kind of picture. It represents an arrange of inanimate objects (hence the name) such as a bowl, a cup or fruits. Usually the arrangement is made according to the artist's purpose. A Still life pencil drawing can be symbolic, with an underlying meaning, or aesthetic, in which case the purpose is to communicate beauty. About Still Life Pencil Drawings A still life work can have many purposes. If we work in color it can help us understand how color acts in real life, how the light bounces, and how an arrangement of colors can bring a special mood to the painting. Using colored pencils we can begin studies about color, and work in the finest details. But in the case of black and white pencil drawings, the purpose of the still life pencil drawing is different. A still life pencil drawing can help us study shapes and see how they interact on our eyes, we learn how to measure correct proportions and how they can make the difference betwen a good drawing and a remarkable drawing. When we get into shading, we then study tonal values. There are no colors here so we must learn how to see things in black and white mode, and correctly define which are going to be the dark and light areas on our still life pencil drawing. Still lifes are the most available subjects in the world, and while some people may consider still life drawing boring, the fact is they teach us a lot. When you have no idea of what to draw, just make an arrangement of things you have at your house and start your still life pencil drawing. Don't take just as bring cups and fruits, but instead focus on what you can learn from this. If you keep practicing on drawing still life scenes you will find out that you have a much better understanding on how light works, and how objects relate to each other within a composition and color scheme.

What is abstract art one artists point of view

So many people must be asking this question all the time ... and not getting satifactory answers because I keep seeing articles on the subject. So, to add to the mix, I thought that, because I am an Abstract Artist, I would give my answer. First lets see what the official version has to say. The second definition of "abstract" in the Concise Oxford Dictionary says "Idealistic, not practical; abstruse; (Art etc.) free from representational qualities" And it is this last description I want to look at. That which is free from representational qualities is a picture (or other type of art discipline) that does not depict any recognisable image such as a figure, building, or sky. There is no purposeful reference to anything physically particular. Jackson Pollock, for instance, was one of the first abstract artists and produced the finest of examples... take a look at this: nga. gov/feature/pollock/painting. html If you study this image closely it will soon become apparent that he randomly dripped paint onto a board laying flat on the floor. And if you read up a bit about him you will find that he even suspended paint-filled cans above a board, punched holes in the bottom of the can, and allowed the cans to swing, or be nudged, the paint slowly dripping to give a totally no-representative image. The important thing to remember here is that he had no intention of producing any kind likeness to anything physical whatsoever. So this style of art is truly an abstract work. The difficulty comes when a piece of art is produced in a very loose and, even, child like way. Some might regard it as abstract. Here is an example of what I believe is NOT abstract art: go to guzzardi. it/arte/ then on the left side click on "Artisti Ceris" then click "D" go to the fourth name from the bottom "Jean Dubuffet" and click "Art Brut" there you will find three images of his work ... each one depicts roughly painted figures and faces, and although the left hand image looks like imageless lines I do believe there are faces to be seen there (Don't get me wrong - Jean Dubuffet produced many abstract works ... in fact that is what he was most famous for ... it's just that these examples are not). Some might call these Dubuffet paintings semi-abstract - but I do not. For me there is no such thing - either the picture does not represent anything ... or it does - no matter how basic. Another puzzle might be the later works of Mark Rothko. Look here: nga. gov/feature/rothko/late7.shtm Some might argue that a basic rectangular shape could be regarded as a representational image. But you need to read about his life and philosophy to understand that he was not painting rectangles but what has become known as colour fields. The scale of his massive works and the fact that he gave up even titling his pieces should dispell any possibility of his work being anything other than the purer form of abstract art. I would like to finish with one of my own enigmatic examples: ablot/passion3.htm in which I have sort to "portray" the idea of deep or spiritual movement. Such an explanation is, of course, dangerous in that I have used words like "portray", "spiritual" and "movement" - all of these have associations ... but not necessarily physical ones! It is my belief that there is a relationship to be had with my spirit ... and it is the purist form of abstraction. You can find out more about that in my blog on my website. The only other thing to say here is that the abstract artist is seeking to put on canvas such non-figurative "imagery" as emotion, thought, the greater self, anarchy, and total randomness ... to name but a few. And I intend to examine these "non-figures" in a bit more detail in my articles starting with "How to produce an abstract image - Part 2" You will be very welcome to come along and read it!

    What is an annuity

An annuity is a contract in which an insurance company makes a series of income payments at regular intervals in return for a premium or premiums you have paid. Annuities are most often bought for future retirement income. Only an annuity can pay an income that can be guaranteed to last as long as you live. The word annuity is a Latin word. You can find it in the oldest dictionary you have. Annuity means income. An annuity is neither a life insurance nor health insurance policy. It is not a savings account or savings certificate. You should not buy an annuity to reach short term financial goals. There are several different types of annuities. The word ‘annuity’ of course means income. The word ‘deferred’ means income later. The word ‘immediate ’means income now. There are two types of annuities, fixed and variable. The word ‘fixed’ doesn’t necessarily mean your interest is fixed, it means your premium earns a minimum guaranteed interest rate. Variable, which involves risk means the dollars (your premium), you put into a variable annuity can vary up and down. There are two parts to a fixed deferred guaranteed income annuity, a current interest rate and a minimum guaranteed interest rate. The minimum guaranteed interest rate is the lowest rate that your annuity will earn. This rate is stated in the contract. The current rate is linked to the reserves and interest the company earns on their portfolio, or for an external reference or index. You can buy a fixed deferred annuity and start your interest income thirty days later. However, it is better to wait twelve months, and then take the previous years earned interest through the second year. With an IRA, you can put your individual retirement account inside of a fixed annuity, the only vehicle that can provide a guaranteed retirement income to last you as long as you live. Insurance companies are required by law to have reserves that back up the guarantee. You can freely reprint this article as long as the author, bio, and live links are left intact.

    What is an lcd tv

In an LCD TV or "transmissive" display, a light source shines through a panel of liquid crystals in order to display an image. A white diffusion panel behind the LCD redirects and scatters the light evenly to provide a more uniform image than most competing technologies. The LCD face consists of two transparent layers which polarize a liquid crystal layer sandwiched in between. The front layer of glass is etched with a grid pattern on the inside surface to form a template for the liquid crystals. Liquid crystals are rod shaped molecules that bend light in response to an electric current; the crystals align so that no light can pass through. Each crystal acts like a camera's shutter, either blocking light or allowing it to pass through. A pattern of transparent or dark crystals forms the image. This same technology has been around for awhile, even in such unsophisticated items as digital watches. LCD TVs use an "active matrix" LCD; the most advanced type of LCD. The active matrix design is based on TFT, or thin film transistors. These are tiny switching transistors and capacitors that are arranged in a matrix on a glass substrate, they switch the LCD pixels on and off. In a color TV's LCD, each color pixel is created by three sub-pixels with red, green, and blue color filters. One of the biggest challenges for LCD TV manufacturers has been speeding up the pixel response time, (how fast an individual pixel's color can change without blurring) so that fast moving images don't exhibit motion lag or "ghosting". This is especially critical for larger-screen LCD TVs, or for LCD TVs on which much of the viewing will be HDTV, or DVD movies. An important difference between LCD technology and Plasma is that an LCD screen doesn't have a coating of phosphor dots; LCD TVs color is created through the use of filters. This keeps image burn-in from being a problem--- which is good news in-particular for people who might use a video gaming system or PC on their TV. Another benefit of owning an LCD TV is the energy efficiency of this technology. LCD TVs typically consume 60% lees power than comparably sized tube-type, direct-view TVs. In most ways that really matter there isn't much difference between LCD TVs and Plasma TVs. Both of these highly popular types of flat panel TVs are thin enough to be placed virtually anywhere, and both produce images that are startlingly clear, sharp, and bright. The most notable difference is screen size. The majority of LCD TVs have a screen size measuring 30 inches and smaller. Plasma TVs are, for the most part, uninhibited by measurement restrictions. Basically, LCD and Plasma TVs are different approaches to the same result because the both create superior images using radically different technology.

    What is close up magic

Close-up magic is magical entertainment that happens right in front of you, magic you can not only see but feel and touch. This intimacy is what makes it so different from other types of magic. An expert close-up magician will involve and interact with the audience far more than a stage magician (or any other form of entertainer for that matter). Most close-up magicians use common props such as playing cards, coins, sponge balls and rope. And all magicians perform the same basic magical effects with these props, making them appear, disappear, change, levitate, break and restore, and penetrate other objects. What is amazing about close-up magic is that it happens so close to you, sometimes while you are holding the props! There are many standard close-up magic effects and standard routines used to present them. For example, the ‘Ambitious Card’ where a chosen card repeatedly rises to the top position in a deck of cards without any shuffling or cutting, or the ‘Sponge Balls’ where the balls move invisibly between the magician’s hands and those of the spectator’s. In fact, these routines are freely available if you care to look. Anyone can search the internet and buy books and DVDs on close-up magic, or even the props and standard routines. What really sets one close-up magician apart from another is how they present their magic. In fact, presentation is the key - it is what makes close-up magic entertaining. A really good, professional magician will be creative and present their magic in an original and entertaining way. Sometimes humorous, sometimes mysterious, sometimes just plain weird and freaky. The magic becomes a vehicle for the personality and ideas of the performer. This is what makes close-up magic great entertainment. An interesting, strange and funny person demonstrates the impossible, weird and wonderful, right under your nose!

    What is decoupage

The term Decoupage is the decorative art of cutting and pasting paper onto a surface and varnishing over the surface. Decoupage (day-coo-parj) comes from the French word “couper”, which means to cut. In its early years decoupage may have been considered a child craft as it involves cutting pieces paper and layering them on top of each other to create an image that is 3d. But nowadays, Decoupage has become more sophisticated an extremely popular hobby, one of the fastest growing crafts worldwide. It requires relatively little capital outlay, can be done from home, and appeals to people of all ages. Simply because it is versatile, requires few materials, and can be done by beginners. Although you can buy supplies made specifically for decoupage, you can also use supplies that you probably have lying around the house. This makes decoupage one of the cheapest crafts around. Almost anything can be covered by decoupage: wood, metals and ceramics are the most common surfaces. Any paper item can also be used, though it may need preparation before cutting. Decoupage is often used to cover defects on damaged thrift-store finds. Furniture, boxes and other containers, vases, lamps, decorative screens, trays, tin ware and tableware can be given a new lease of life with decoupage. Decoupage is a craft that is easy enough for children to be involved in. With their small fingers, boys as well as girls can enjoy decoupage, and as many young boys are fascinated with small and fiddly items, they can be particularly adept at this sort of work. Decoupage can be helpful in developing hand-eye co-ordination as well as powers of concentration. Once they have been introduced to the techniques, most children can be left to do projects alone, so long as someone is available for advice if they run into problems. Decoupage is an old and venerable art form. It was extremely popular in the eighteenth century, and became popular again during the late Victorian era. Today, Decoupage is becoming more and more popular to crafters, if you are new to card making it is something that is simple but extremely effective for card projects giving them a really professional look.

    What is hdtv

: Some satellite TV providers, such as Dish Network, offer HDTV receivers with their packages. But many people don’t know what it means to have HDTV. Here is some insight. High Definition TeleVision is what HDTV literally means. But high definition compared to what? In order to answer this question, we need to know a bit about the original analog TV system. Analog TV 30 images per second (in Europe 25) are shown by normal analog TV sets. It does this by writing image lines horizontally, 525 lines in one image (In Europe 625) on the screen. The number of pixels on one line is about 500. This would be a definition of 500 pixels per line by 525 (or 625) linespared to modern computer monitors this is really bad. Even the lowest resolutions monitors have higher resolutions (640 x 480) than an analog TV. HDTV - High Definition TeleVision HDTV is high resolution Digital TeleVision (DTV) combined with Dolby Digital Surround Sound (AC-3). There are 18 different formats defined for Digital TV of which 6 are considered to be HDTV. The difference between Progressive and Interlaced is not difficult. It has to do with how one image is built up. With interlaced technology the odd lines are shown first and then the even lines are shown. The lines are shown in this order: 1,3,5,….521, 523, 525, 2, 4, 6,…. 522, 524, 1, 3, etc. This means that every 1/60 of a second a half image is shown. This often results in flickering, which can be tiring for the eyes. Progressive technology manages to show a whole image every 1/60 of a second, resulting in a much smoother picture. How Is HDTV Better? Normal TV has a resolution of about 210.000 pixels. An HDTV screen has a resolution of upto 2.000.000 pixels, which gives up to 10 times more picture detail. The aspect ration of normal TV is 4 x 3 (4/3 times wider than high). An HDTV screen has an aspect ration of 16 x 9, which is also known as wide screen. The Future of HDTV The FCC (Federal Communications Committee) has mandated that all TV stations in the USA have to be able to broadcast HDTV programs by the year 2006. The mandates of the FCC do not have an impact on just the broadcast companies, but also on cable companies and consumers. Broadcast companies have to invest on new equipment like cameras, editing equipment, etc. Cable companies have to convert all of their equipment, including receivers at the homes of their clients. Consumers may have to buy new equipment, like a top-box to convert digital signals back to analog signals, or even buy a whole new TV set. HDTV is the future, and a really big step forward. We once started with simple black and white TV, then moved to color TV, and wide screen TV. But all those systems were still based on the same signals as the original black and white TV used. When color TV was introduced it was not possible to force the complete population to throw away their black and white TV-sets and buy a color TV set. Therefore a color TV signal still needed to be understandable for a black and white TV. This prohibited the improvement of picture quality until the age of Digital TV. The need to satisfy older TV sets no longer exists and the much higher quality HDTV is available via Satellite TV Systems, including Dish Network.
