Silent auctions all done all done sold

Silent auctions are a way of disposing of auction items without employing the services of an auctioneer – one of the main reasons silent auctions are popular as charity and organizational fundraisers. Here’s how it works. The items to be auctioned are put on display. For example, a chamber of commerce may have solicited goods and services from people in the community for sale at an annual chamber banquet or other event. If you’re interested, you simply browse through the offerings. Find something you like? Bidding is easy. You just pick up a pen and write down your name along with what you’d pay for that item The point is that you’re not bidding “in the dark” like sealed bid auctions. In that case, you submit your bid in writing in a sealed envelope. The envelope is opened and the highest (or lowest, as the case may be) bidder is notified. But in silent auctions, you have the opportunity to see what someone else bid on a particular item. Often, you can even see who submitted that bid, though some silent auctions assign numbers for your bidding to ensure anonymity. If you enjoy auctions, there are some real pros and some cons to silent auctions. One of the biggest pros is that there’s no need to stand around and wait for the item you’re interested in to come around – a process that sometimes takes hours. Instead of waiting until the auctioneer comes to that item, you can just walk around and bid on whatever catches your eye. If you think that the excitement of bidding against another bidder is absent from silent auctions, think again. The bidding can sometimes become fierce with several people “guarding” the item they are bidding on to watch for opposing bidders. When that happens, the people who are most interested in the item may get into a “silent” bidding war, just as in a traditional auction. One will barely wait for another to move before placing a new bid. One negative of the silent auctions is that you have to watch an item you’re interested in. Typically, there will be a notice that the auction is about to draw to a close so that you have one last chance to check the status of your bids, and to make one last bid. Another negative is that it’s more difficult to make small increment bids that really count. The best way to scare off other bidders and potential bidders is to simply make a large jump in your bid amount. Silent auctions can be a good way to raise money, and can be incredibly fun for the bidder.

Snuff stuffs that are banned on e bay

E-bay may seem to have everything a buyer would need or want. However, not all things are provided on E-bay for sale. There are things that are prohibited in being displayed in E-bay due to infringement of some existing laws. This list of prohibited items should be strictly noted unless it's okay for the seller to be banned from the E-bay listing or his or her account suspended. He or she may even face some criminal charges relative to the violation of the law. These prohibited items are as follows: 1. School-related software. This refers to any kind of school-related software that is being sold to students or researchers at marked down amounts. 2. Law-related items like brand names misused just for personal gain; copyrighted materials, unauthorized recording or footage of a live show; beta software or software that are used to test and assess a software's over-all performance; any software or hardware used to extract different audio and video files in a CD, VCD, or DVD; or items that a seller cannot provide proof of authenticity. 3. Wildlife creatures and animals. Any kind of animals being sold in E-bay is strictly prohibited. There are certain laws that govern the illegality of selling wildlife animals especially those that are classified as extinct or nearly extinct. 4. Tickets or contracts of concerts, shows, or any kind of performances. Selling of these items is strictly prohibited unless the seller is permitted to do so by an approving officer. Sale of such legal agreements may result to breach or violation of the law. 5. Fake items such as counterfeited currencies. These are not only prohibited in E-bay but are highly punishable by law. 6. Any downloadable media. These refer to any kind of software that was only made available for certain people. If the seller is not the sole owner of the rights of said downloads, E-bay will not accept such items for sale. In such cases, these items will only be allowed provided that the seller can provide proofs of copyright ownership and that this must be stated when posting the item for sale. 7. Goods that were prohibited from other countries. 8. Signatures, faces, or names of people without the owner's permission. 9. Any kind of ammunition or weapon. 10. Government licenses, identification cards, or any pertinent document related to the government. Usually, E-bay updates or modifies this list of prohibited items. And so, it's important for every buyer and seller to get hold of an updated copy of the list of prohibited items on E-bay.

So you want to sell dvds on ebay..

Want to sell DVDs on Ebay? A lot of people do. Its a competitive market to say the least, but how do they do it - where do they get their stock from? Drop-shipping? Wholesale outlets? Possibly, if you have a spare lockup to store all the bulk purchased DVDs you just bought to get that extra discount. Chances are if you are considering buying to sell on Ebay you have looked into buying wholesaler lists from Ebay itself. Well, If I was you I would not waste my money. In my experience these lists are nothing but junk, containing at best outdated information for wholesalers in the US, with nothing relevant to the UK. There are many, many other ways to purchase DVDs to sell on Ebay - by all means follow the wholesaler route. There are wholesale outlets out there that cater for the Sole Trader, without having to be VAT registered but you usually find that the prices offered are not that much better, if at all, than the prices offered by the larger more reputable stores on the internet. So with that in mind, where should you start...? Well you really need to bear in mind 2 things. 1. People that buy on ebay are looking for a bargain, the trouble is they think that Ebay is the best place to look. They are wrong! 2. The higher the RRP the more bang for your buck. When people first start selling DVDs on Ebay, they quickly find that the profit margins are slim to non-existent, but they usually have a plan: so what, they think, if they only make Ј1.00 for every DVD sold - sell a hundred DVDs in a month and before they know it that's Ј100 profit. Fair enough if you are prepared to put in the work. But you will quickly find that of those 100 DVDs you sell in a month, a fairly high percentage of them will make even less than Ј1.00 profit, some will just break even and some will incur a loss. That's just the way Ebay is designed: with the consumer in mind (if you have never sold on Ebay before you have to remember that that you are charged a fee when you list your items, charged again when the item sells and charged yet again when the buyer uses paypal for pay for it..!). The promotion of the "Watch this item" option on Ebay has been a boon for the customer but a bane for many a seller, whereas in the early days to watch an Item the customer had to place a bid, now it is very apparent that items can be added to a customers watch list the day you upload your listing and they do not have to place a bid until the auction closes, which can make for a last minute bidding frenzy and lower final values! So what is the best way round this? For the most part steer clear of the latest Region 2 blockbusters. There is too much competition for those, but if you can find a good source for Box-sets, Limited Editions, Deleted DVDs or Imported DVDs you will be onto a winner. These items will tend to fetch more money because of their perceived higher value or rareness of the DVD. But where should you buy them from? That is the 6 Million Dollar Question, but here are a few recommendations. 1. Price comparison Sites. There are many price comparison sites on the internet, search for these in google, identify your favourite, enter your keywords and search for your DVDs. Some of them offer a list of the the best bargains currently available, sorted by either percentage or value discount across the majority of the big name retailers on the net. Yet more will allow you to target a specific DVD: enter your email address and select a target price. When the DVD reaches that price you will automatically be sent an email informing you where to purchase the DVD. Advantages of this are obvious since it will save you a lot of time an effort hunting down the bargain yourself. 2munity Forums. These sites can be worth their weight in Gold. Specialist Bargain hunter forums run by people just like you and populated with members just like you - all devoted to finding the latest and best bargains on the internet, whether they be legitimate sale discounts or the more sort after and flirtatious Mis-Price (these occur when the an on-line store messes up and lists a high value DVD for a 95% discount or something similar - it happens and if your quick off the mark, you might be able to get an order dispatched before the retailer rectifies the mistake). As well as the Bargain sections of these forums many also have a classified section, which brings us onto.... 3 Second Hand. This is really a good market. I know I said earlier to steer clear of the latest blockbusters, but some of the forum sites have a very good classified section populated by people who purchase all the latest DVDs from all regions then sell them on when they are finished watching them for a discounted price. It is in forums sections such as this that you may find your ebay rarities and deleted limited editions being offered for sale at very discounted prices, possibly because the seller does not realise the true value of what he is offering. 4. Ex Rental. Sometimes DVDs are released only for rental, with the sell thru DVD delayed for a couple of months. These DVDs can sometimes be picked up from the ex-Rental bin of your local DVD shop, usually for a very palatable price. List on Ebay as RARE, Not available in shops or some other sensational tag line and the DVD will probably sell for a good price. (But make sure you let the customer know that the Item is not new) These are just a few ways for you to get hold of your DVDs at the best possible prices. I hope you find them useful and I wish you the best of luck with your Ebay endeavours.

Some pointers on shopping in an online auction

So if you are like most people than you are slowly becoming used to the idea of the internet and may have even started to shop online. The security of the internet, given the proper precautions, has gotten to the point that risk is minimal. This makes the convenience of doing business over the internet that much more appealing. So what about online auctions, are there any associated risks or things that should be known so that you don’t make a big mistake and pay for it dearly? Well in the next few paragraphs I want to go over some common sense pointers that will help you to make wise decisions the next time you start looking for something on ebay. The first two pointers actually would apply to any purchase that you make, especially if it is a purchase that you don’t routinely make. First do research on what you want to buy so that you have a very specific set of criteria that the product must fulfill in order to be satisfactory. This allows you to learn what a good price is for the exact features and specifications that you want/need. This also eliminates the possibility that you will buy a product only to be disappointed that it doesn’t have a certain function when you just assumed that every thing in that category of product would. This happens all too commonly with purchases in general and when you buy things in an online auction you have to be especially careful that you know exactly what you are getting. The second pointer is the axiom “deals come and deals go.” That is that you should be careful not to get sucked into the feeling of competition that many people who purchase on online auctions do. You need to have a price set in your mind that you won’t go over on and you must not compromise. With a little patience and sometimes a run of good luck you will get the item you want for the great deal that you are counting on. The third pointer is that you don’t have to be satisfied with only getting used merchandise in an online auction. More and more everyday there are online stores that are functioning just like a typical store would down the street from you. Two helpful abbreviations to remember are NWT which stands for New With Tags and NWOT which obviously means New WithOut Tags. My last piece of advise is to be careful with hidden costs, namely shipping. Many online auction sellers like to lower the price of their product by increasing the flat rate of shipping that they charge. Often if you look closely at the deals something that is going for a little more is actually the cheaper deal because they are being sleazy and gouging you with horrendous shipping costs. That’s it, have fun!

Sourcing for cars to sell in ebay car auctions

Selling high-priced items such as ebay car auctions is getting more and more popular these days. In fact, according to ebay motors, a vehicle is sold very 10 seconds, a car part or accessories is sold every second. Over 10 million shoppers visit ebay motors every month looking to buy cars or car parts. The reason why ebay car auctions are popular among ebay sellers is pretty obvious since the profits per sale are high. You only need to sell 1 to 2 cars on ebay motors each month to make a handsome profit. So how do you find cars to sell on ebay motors? Basically I have used 2 ways. Car Dealers Believe it or not, there are still a lot of car dealers who are still advertising offline via the usual marketing methods such as advertising in car magazines, posters, tv and radio. From my personal experience, the main reason why these car dealers do not sell on ebay motors is not because they do not know about ebay. It is because they do not have technical knowledge of uploading photos, putting auction description and such. One car dealer I know of have not touched a computer in his life! So this is where you can come in and offer your services and in return if the car is sold successfully on ebay motors, you get a commission. I don’t need to tell you even if it is a just 2 percent commission, you could still get a few hundred dollars easily. Classified Ads If you flip through your daily newspapers, you can probably find a lot of people trying to sell their cars in the classified ads section. Some of these people have been advertising for quite a while which could mean they did not manage to sell their cars. You could contact them and offer to sell their car. Since they could not sell their car, it should not be too difficult to convince them to give you a shot at selling it. In return, you arrange with the car owner to receive a small commission for your work. The above 2 methods have worked well for me. The good thing about both methods is you get to pick which cars you want to sell particularly for classified ads. If you have been on ebay motors for a while, you will realize certain types of cars sell better and more easily than others. Examples are classic or vintage cars. Basically cars that are rare or unusual. One thing you have to note is most car dealers will probably not give you a exclusive time period to sell the car. Therefore in your auction, always state the car is on sale on other sites or other ways and that you reserve the right to end the auction early.

Special rules for selling software on ebay

Computer software is one of the biggest sellers on eBay – after all, everyone using eBay has a computer, don’t they? There can be problems, however, if you try to sell certain kinds of software that eBay doesn’t allow. Used software is a minefield, and you could end up buying something dodgy to resell without even realising it. Here are the various kinds of software that you’re not allowed to sell on eBay, and how to spot them. You should always try installing used software before you sell it, as this might give you a few clues. Pirate Software. This one is reasonably obvious, but pirate software can be hard to spot. The biggest things to look out for are auctions that don’t have pictures or only have pictures from catalogues, unrealistically low prices, and come with no manuals or documentation. Microsoft software comes with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’, which you should check. Software that is on recordable media such as CD-RWs is usually pirated. If you see software that offered for download only, it is often pirated – but not always. Some small software developers allow download licenses for their software to be resold on sites like eBay. Type the name of the software into a search engine, and go to the manufacturer’s site to check. Remember that software you download is very unlikely to come with resale rights, though. Beta Software. Beta software is pre-release software, issued by companies for testing purposespanies generally do not give permission for their beta software to be sold or redistributed, as it won’t be as good as the final product. Do not buy anything that says it is ‘beta’, and return anything you receive that says ‘beta’ or ‘not for resale or distribution’ anywhere on the CD or during the install. Academic Software. Some companies sell special ‘educational editions’ or ‘student licenses’ for their software, which are designed to make it affordable to students and teachers. You can only sell this software if you are a licensed educational reseller for the company, and your buyers are educational users. Academic software will usually say somewhere on its CD or in its installation what it is. OEM Software. OEM stands for ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’ – this is software that is only supposed to be distributed with a new computer, as it came pre-installed on the computer. The licences for this software usually stop you from selling it without also selling any hardware. Look out for the message ‘for sale with a new computer only’, or similar. Note, though, that it’s usually fine to bundle any OEM software you come across with computers that you sell on eBay. If you sell any kind of software that isn’t allowed, then eBay might shut down your auction, or your sellers might realise what they’ve bought and leave you bad feedback. It’s not really worth the risk. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, how about we try to get you a few more customers for the items you have that aren’t against the rules. In the next email, we’ll take a look at the real power of eBay store newsletters.

Spotting fakes and frauds on ebay

Fake items abound on eBay, and it takes much effort not to be duped by scammers who peddle these wares. There have been many painful stories relating how a seemingly legitimate item turned out to be either fake or defective. It is possible, however, to avoid these scams if one is careful and vigilant. Buyers should be wary of any purchase over eBay, and should take steps to ensure the authenticity of the item and to make sure the item is in reasonable condition. Be Vigilant Buyers should take the initiative by doing plenty of background research. They must learn as much as possible about the products before bidding on them. If the seller provides pictures of an item, they should not be taken at face valueparison of these pictures with the real item helps in this regard. Many sellers will use pictures from manufacturers that do not represent the item they are actually selling; buyers should ask the seller for actual pictures of the item. If the seller balks, buyers should refrain from bidding. Collector’s items, autographed memorabilia, and historical artifacts are common items that are misrepresented on eBay. Authenticate Familiarize yourself with the various bodies that certify respective items. For example, reputable merchants of autographed sports memorabilia should include a COA (certificate of authenticity) from a trusted third party. Counterfeit or misrepresented items should be reported to eBay. When buying on eBay Motors, one may have an inspection service double-check if the seller is accurately representing his automobile. Look at the Feedback One should analyze the feedback rating of a seller. Analyzing feedback is another helpful exercise to prevent scams. Sellers who have an established history of credible sales are usually helpful and professional to deal with. Negative feedback should be a red flag as to whether one should pursue a trade with the person. The same thing applies for those who do not have feedback ratings at all. Buyers must be careful however, since it is possible that a scammer has hijacked an account that has positive feedback. Buyers should make sure they have read the entire product description on its eBay listing. Things to look out for are disclaimers, damages, current item condition, years of use, and others. If this information is not specified, it would do well for the buyer to contact the seller regarding such. The Price Theory If the price for an item is too good to be true, it probably is. Auctions that carry outrageously low prices should be taken skeptically.

    Starting an ebay franchise

Starting an ebay drop-off franchise is fast catching on ebay. There are millions of buyers everyday on ebay and let's face it, not everyone knows how to sell an item on ebay. Some people just are not interested or not familiar with how ebay works, the terms and conditions and all that stuff. They just want to sell their item and get some cash. That is where an ebay drop-off franchise comes in. What is an ebay drop-off franchise? It's actually quite simple in concept. An ebay drop-off franchise store acts like the middleman in the ebay world. You bring the items you want to sell to the ebay drop-off store. The store will auction it on ebay. If it is sold, the store will send a check to you minus a certain percentage of the sale price. The store will also pack and ship the item for you. In my opinion, this is a huge untapped market as there are lots of people who have heard of ebay but do not know or want to get involved in the whole auction process as it can be rather tedious. They are looking for people to help them sell. So why get an ebay franchise? Getting an ebay franchise is not cheap. It usually cost anywhere from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars plus some ebay franchises charges a annual or monthly royalty fee ranging from 3 to 6 percent of your gross revenue. However, there are some great advantages to getting one. 1) Brand Recognition The single biggest advantage of getting an ebay franchise is that you get to be affiliated with a recognizable brand. Some ebay franchise such as "isold it ebay store" spent huge amount of money in TV advertising and marketing plus they have a huge network of stores across the country. In that sense, your franchise store gets to leverage some brand awareness without you spending any money on advertising and marketing. 2) Franchise Store Support Another important advantage is that you can get immediate support and training needed to maintain and operate your ebay franchise store. This is especially important if you do not have sufficient experience doing business. Plus most franchises have ebay drop-off experts who can be stationed in your store when you just opened for business to guide you on the details of running the business. 3) Franchise Buying Power Because most franchises have a network of stores, they are able to negotiate better pricing on overstock items or with suppliers. There are a lot more advantages in getting an ebay drop-off franchise. You can visit my website where I discuss more in depth on the different ebay franchises that are available.
