Things you should know about psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease affecting the skin and joints. When it affects the skin it commonly appears as red scaly elevated patches called plaques. Psoriasis plaques frequently occur on the elbows and knees, but can affect any area of skin including the scalp and genital area. Psoriasis can vary in severity, from minor localised patches to extensive or even complete skin coverage. Fingernails and toenails are often affected. This is called psoriatic nail dystrophy. Psoriasis can also cause inflammation of the joints. This is known as psoriatic arthritis. Psoriatic arthritis can affect any joint but is most common in the joints of the fingers and toes. This can result in a sausage-shaped swelling of the fingers and toes known as dactylitis. Psoriatic arthritis can also affect the hips, knees and spine. This is known as spondylitis. Psoriasis affects both sexes equally, occurs at all ages and is prevalent in 2-3% of the Western populations. Several factors are thought to aggravate psoriasis. These include stress and excessive alcohol consumption. Individuals with psoriasis may also suffer from depression and loss of self-esteem. As such, quality of life is an important factor in evaluating the severity of the disease. There are many treatments available but because of its chronic recurrent nature psoriasis is a challenge to treat. Psoriasis is driven by the immune system, especially involving a type of white blood cell called a T cell. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease. T cells help create scabs over wounds. In the case of psoriasis, T cells are put into action by mistake and become so active that they trigger other immune responses, which lead to inflammation and to rapid turnover of skin cells. Epidermal cells then build up on the surface of the skin, forming itchy patches or plaques. Specialist dermatologists generally treat psoriasis in steps based on the severity of the disease, size of the areas involved, type of psoriasis, and the patient's response to initial treatments. This is sometimes called the "1-2-3" approach. In step 1, medicines are applied to the skin (topical treatment). Step 2 uses ultraviolet light treatments (phototherapy). Step 3 involves taking medicines by mouth or injection that treat the whole immune system (called systemic therapy). Over time, affected skin can become resistant to treatment, especially when topical corticosteroids are used. Also, a treatment that works very well in one person may have little effect in another. Thus, doctors often use a trial-and-error approach to find a treatment that works, and they may switch treatments periodically (for example, every 12 to 24 months) if a treatment does not work or if adverse reactions occur. In conclusion, Psoriasis is a chronic condition. There is currently no cure. People often experience flares and remissions throughout their life. Controlling the signs and symptoms typically requires lifelong therapy. Disclaimer - The information presented here should not be interpreted as medical advice. Think you may have diabetes

What is diabetes? Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not properly control the amount of sugar in the blood stream. As a result, the level of sugar in the blood is too high. This disease occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use it properly. The symptoms of diabetes should be recognized. Recognizing a symptom or sign for diabetes is important – diabetes can be life-threatening. Diabetes can be caused by too little insulin in the body or by the inability to utilize the insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas which regulates blood sugar levels. Over 15 million people the US alone suffer from diabetes. The main types of diabetes are: Type 1 diabetes (often called juvenile or insulin-dependent diabetes) - is a chronic (lifelong) disease that occurs when the pancreas produces too little insulin to regulate blood sugar levels appropriately. Type 2 diabetes (often called adult or non-insulin-dependent diabetes) - is the most common form of diabetes. About 90 to 95 percent of people who have diabetes have type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes produce insulin, but either not produce enough insulin or their bodies do not utilize the insulin made. Most of the people who have this type of diabetes are overweight. Gestational Diabetes - is high blood glucose that develops during pregnancy in a woman. How would you know if you might have diabetes? The most common symptoms of diabetes include – fatigue, increased appetite, increased thirst, blurred vision, frequent urination, slow healing infections and even impotence in adult males. By exhibiting any of these signs does not necessarily mean you have diabetes though. The best way to determine this is to visit your doctor and request the fasting blood glucose level test. Diabetes is diagnosed if this test shows the blood glucose level is higher than 126 mg/dl on two different tests. There is no cure for diabetes at the moment, so what should one do if diagnosed with diabetes? The objectives are to keep your blood sugars stabilized as much as possible. By maintaining a balanced blood sugar level, you can eliminate any possibility of immediate or semi-immediate problems – in turn… prolonging ones life. Remember, life doesn’t stop because you have diabetes; it merely becomes more of a challenge. The good news on the other hand is the cure for diabetes may not be that far off. Until then, keep your blood sugars regulated, eat right and exercise daily.

Think you need new glasses you might have cataracts

Many seniors think that new glasses and a stronger prescription are all they need to regain the vision of their youth. In fact, cataracts may be the cause for the decline in vision. The condition is the leading cause of vision loss among adults 55 and older. More than half the people over age 65 have some degree of cataract development. If you think you might have cataracts, call EyeCare America's Seniors EyeCare Program. This program offers eye exams and care to seniors who are without an ophthalmologist. To see if you, a loved one or a friend, 65 and older, is eligible to receive a referral for an eye exam and care, call 1-800- 222-EYES (3937). The EyeCare America help line operates 24 hours a day, year-round. "I was more than pleased with the care I received through EyeCare America. The first visit, the doctor found I had cataracts in both eyes and one would need immediate attention. Within a month, I was doing fine after surgery. Thank you, EyeCare America!" said EyeCare America patient, Hazel Dalton. What is a cataract? A cataract is a clouding of the lens in the eye, the part of the eye that focuses light and produces clear images. Inside of the eye, the lens is contained in a sealed bag or capsule. As old cells die they become trapped within the capsule. Over time, more cells die and accumulate, causing the lens to cloud, making images look blurred or fuzzy. In the early stages, stronger lighting and eyeglasses may lessen vision problems caused by cataracts. At a certain point, however, surgery may be needed to improve vision. Cataract surgery is the most frequently performed surgery in the U. S. More than 90 percent of the people who have cataract surgery regain useful vision. Those who are eligible for the EyeCare America program receive a dilated medical exam and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost. EyeCare America is able to provide this no-cost care through its network of 7,500 volunteer ophthalmologists who waive patient co-payments and accept Medicare as payment in full for their services. Patients without insurance are not charged. The Seniors EyeCare Program is for people who: • Are U. S. citizens or legal residents • Are age 65 and older • Have not seen an ophthalmologist in three or more years • Do not belong to an HMO or the VA. The Seniors EyeCare Program is co-sponsored by the Knights Templar Eye Foundation, Inc. and Alcon. "I was more than pleased with the care I received from EyeCare America." Hazel Dalton, EyeCare America patient. they want 1-800!

    Tinea ringworm

Ringworm, aka Tinea, is a very contagious fungal infection that occurs in the skin. Ringworm is very common, this especially true among young children. Ringworm can be spread by skin-to-skin contact, just like it can with contact with contaminated items such as a hair comb. Part of the thing that aids in the quick spread of ringworm is that a person can be infected before they even show any of the symptoms, which means that they are unaware, and have no chance of preventing the spread of the bug. Humans often times will contract ringworm from their pet animals, such as cats and dogs. These animals are at greater risk because of their lifestyles and that they are often carriers of ringworm. Just like these animals are at risk it is also known that people that are involved in contact sports such as wrestling, or even hockey, football, and rugby. Basically any instant where there is increased skin contact with a foreign body raises the odds of the ringworm transmission. Often times we overlook the numer of species in this fungi family that cause ringworm. Different fungi will attack different parts of the bodymon one's that I'm sure we have heard on a day-to-day basis are: jock itch which has it's affects the groin area, and athlete's foot which affects the feet. There are several others, but those to are definitely to of the most known. Ringworm, once in full force, is easily to spot as it leaves one, and often times more than one, red itchy patches on the skin that are raised and have defined edges. These patches can often times be lighter in the center, which makes the infection take on the appearance of a ring. A good doctors can usually diagnose ringworm at first sight. If this is not possible they take a skin scraping. Examination of the scraping under a microscope will usually be able to provide a correct diagnosis.

    Tiniitus online support

Tinnitus: A persistant high pitched screaming only you can hear. You can hear it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Sometimes the noise is enough to make you feel you are loosing your sanity. In fact, on a lighter note one could call it "a big fat pain in the ear !" It may be of little comfort to Tinnitus victims, but experts estimate that approximately 17 % of the worldґs population are currantly suffering from Tinnitus. If that isnt enough to worry about, almost 60 percent of those who have chronic tinnitus are dissatisfied with their current therapy. Learning to accept help from the right people is elementary in your crusade to escape the claws of tinnitus. It is essential that you find someone you trust and are not afraid of. It’s hard to find someone that will listen to your troubles and problems, especially when dealing with something as complex as Tinnitus. Most people will listen to you and feel sorry for you. This is only because they can’t begin to comprehend what you are going through. These people aren’t ignorant…they are just human beings, to them you are a probably an image of good health. This is because tinnitus can’t be seen from the outside, to the world you look perfectly healthy. I am sure that these people have their own worries too. Some people may appear to not be interested in your problems or they can’t grasp the severity of your situation. Please don’t forget, most people can’t even start to get a handle on what you are going through Fighting Tinnitus often ends up in complete frustration. Tinnitus can only exist if it is fed appropriately and given enough room to breath. Stress and anxiety just adds more fuel to the fire. Fighting tinnitus can be futile procedure that will deplete your most of your energy. There is an alternative solution. This is the point I hope to make with my e-book “ My Best Friend Tinnitus”. If you are suffering from chronic tinnitus (with or without hearing loss) you have probably been down every one way road there is in your quest for a cure. That’s it though. There is no patent cure. It’s that simple and that complicated. YOU are the cure. This concept sounds too easy to be true. Not only can you learn to accept tinnitus as a part of your life but YOU can teach IT to be a part of YOUR life. You can take control by reducing its importancy. On this note there are a few sayings that spring to mind. “Don’t feed the trolls” or “tame the beast”. There is a lot of truth in these words. Tinnitus can be tamed and manipulated. Tinnitus has incredible power, if you give it authority. Think about what it has achieved by taking over your life. Why not turn the tables and learn from it. Get yourself in the driver’s seat and take it for a ride. My theory isn’t based on medical facts. My theory is based on 18 months of misery and depression. At it’s peak I was suicidal. Maybe one of the most important steps I took in learning to come to terms with tinnitus was using its power to help me instead of destroying me. Tinnitus is not physical. It can’t be seen under a microscope and it can’t be measured accurately. This may seem like simplified thinking, but tinnitus is a power and it can be used. I used its power to create a new person in myself. I am using its power to create this very article I am writing. I used it to loose weight, to stop smoking, to stop worrying, to run a small marathon and last but not least…..to help others overcome this dilema Nothing has ever compelled me to sit down for hundreds of hours and write a book. Nothing has ever been worth the effort. Yes, there is an easier way out if you are willing to try. The best thing is that you have nothing to loose. I am not a doctor. I am not a therapist. I am Mr Average………..and a darn good coach !

    Tinnitus causes and treatment

: What is Tinnitus Tinnitus is a symptom and not a condition in itself. Tinnitus describes the symptom of being able to hear things which nobody else can, although in a rare number of cases, this isn’t true. Tinnitus is a very common condition with approximately 10% of the population suffering from Tinnitus to one degree or another. It is most commonly found in elderly people although it is becoming much more widespread in the younger population. Also, Tinnitus can be found in one or both ears or sometimes it feels like it is coming from the middle of your head. The Symptoms of Tinnitus Tinnitus is most commonly found in elderly people although possibly due to the different lifestyles it is becoming much more common in younger people now. Maybe this is due to the fact that people are living in noisier environments today. The sounds which are heard vary from patient to patient. Some patients hear a musical tone, although most patients hear something which sounds more like a hissing or whistling or a buzzing or a ringing noise. For a lot of patients, it is more of an inconvenience and doesn’t affect their daily lives although for a number of patients, it is so bad that they need some kind of treatment to relieve the symptoms The Causes of Tinnitus Tinnitus is caused by damage to the nerves in the inner ear (cochlea). These nerves transmit electrical impulses to the brain which the brain then interprets as sounds. When these nerves are damaged, the signal becomes distorted. When this distorted signal gets to the brain, the brain interprets it as a noise which is Tinnitus. In elderly people, it is seen as part of growing older and is called presbyacusis. However, in younger people medical professionals believe it is due to be exposed to loud noises. There are other causes of Tinnitus as well which include Anemia – where the thin blood rushes around the body so quickly that it can cause a sound. Excessive wax in the ear can also cause tinnitus. Menieres Disease which is a condition affecting balance can also have a side effect of Tinnitus. Some drugs both legal and illegal can cause Tinnitus as the body reacts to them. The Treatment of Tinnitus For most patients, there is no cure for Tinnitus. Most treatments simply relieve the symptoms by masking the cause of Tinnitus. Tinnitus is sometimes strongly related to the patients level of stress. By managing this level of stress via the use of sedatives, tranquilizers or anti-depressants, the symptoms of tinnitus can be relieved. Some drugs which affect the conduction of electrical impulses in the affected nerves have been found to relieve the symptoms of stress. There are a number of self help measures which patients can employ either on their own or in tandem with any assistance that a doctor can prescribe. These include listening to soothing music on a personal stereo before the patient goes to sleep. There are white noise generators which can mask the noise inside your head. This means that you can’t hear the noise generated by tinnitus.

Tips on interacting with the blind

Blindness affects one in every 30 Americans, meaning that chances are you're going to encounter someone who has impaired vision. Not everyone knows the proper way to behave around people with impaired vision. The most important thing to remember about the blind is that they're just like anyone else, only they can't see. That, first and foremost, should determine how you treat them. Here are some specific tips: • Blind people are not mentally deficient, uneducated or deaf. That means they can understand adult explanations at a normal volume. • Similarly, blind people are capable of asking for what they need and of answering questions put to them. • Taking pains to avoid sight-oriented language is likely to be more awkward for a blind person than simply using words and phrases such as "see," "look" or "watch out for." Blind people are familiar with these terms. • Never pet or feed a guide dog, even a cute one. Guide dogs are highly trained working animals and don't respond well to distraction. • Remember to always greet the blind when entering their immediate surroundings and to let them know when you are leaving. • Don't leave a door ajar, which could be dangerous; the door should either be fully open or fully closed. • When helping the blind cross a street, make it clear you are talking to them so they know they are about to be assisted. Even when not accepted, an offer of assistance is usually appreciated. If you relax, you'll make it easier to sense when you've reached the curb. • Walk in a straight line and avoid any unnecessary or sudden movements. • If you come across steps, describe them and say how many there are and whether they go up or down. These tips are from the Blinded Veterans Association.

Tips to help prevent heart disease

You should always keep in mind that whatever actions you do today can either help to prevent, delay or minimize the effect of heart disease or worsen it. The key is to control risk factors. Granted that you cannot control every risk factor for heart disease such as family history but you can definitely do something about your behavior. Age and gender also influence your risk of heart disease. Oral chelation can have a very beneficial effect on reducing your risk of heart disease. Major Risk Factors of Heart Disease Cholesterol Levels Cholesterol is a type of a lipid, a soft, fat-like substance that serves as a source of fuel. Excessive cholesterol can cause build-up of atherosclerotic plaque. Accumulation of plaque in arteries can block blood flow and lead to a heart attack. LDL cholesterol, the so-called "bad" cholesterol, is transported to sites throughout the body, where it's used to repair cell membranes or to make hormones. LDL cholesterol can accumulate in the walls of your arteries. HDL cholesterol, the so-called "good" cholesterol, transports cholesterol to the liver, where it's altered and removed from the body. Blood Pressure Normal blood pressure level is defined as less than 130 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) for systolic blood pressure and less than 85 mm Hg for diastolic blood pressure. The higher the blood pressure, the more likely it is to take a toll on the heart and on the brain. Blood pressure should be checked whether or not your levels are high. For normal, check once every two years. For high-normal, check once a year. If extremely high, you should get immediate care. Then get multiple measurements to know if a high level is sustained over time. Diabetes Another risk factor for heart disease is diabetes, a chronic disease of insulin deficiency or resistance. Type 2 diabetes, the most common type, is associated with obesity and may be prevented by maintaining ideal body weight through exercise and balanced nutrition. Tips For Controlling Risk of Heart Disease Stop Smoking The effect of smoking on your lungs can cause almost every other medical condition. Get Active Routine physical activity is highly recommended and helpful in controlling obesity. Try to perform 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day. Fast walking is one of the best way to prevent heart disease. If you can lose even a small amount of weight, five pounds for example, it may have a positive effect on lipid levels and blood pressure preventing heart disease. Limit Alcohol Consumption Limit daily alcohol intake to three ounces or fewer to prevent heart disease. People who drink large amounts of alcohol (six to eight ounces a day) tend to have higher blood pressure. Watch What You Eat Eat five helpings of fruits and vegetables daily to prevent heart disease. Maintain adequate dietary potassium, calcium and magnesium intake. Reduce saturated fats and cholesterol to stay away from heart disease. Consider using a quality edta or oral chelation product in your diet. Resources: edta-oral-chelation-product-reviews oral-chelation-products-reviewed

Tips to manage adhd in adults

ADHD in adults is usually better managed with acceptance, understanding and appropriate education as to what to do and what not to do when treating ADHD. The following tips will hopefully help in making ADHD less of a problem but more of a challenge that – with support and awareness – could easily be overcome. First things first, learn adhd The best weapon against adhd is education. A better informed adhd person is a person that well understands what adhd is and what are the possible treatments available for adhd. Read up on adhd. Better yet, ask around those who have worked with adhd or those who may have adhd themselves. It would be best to converse with professionals. You yourself may be able to design a treatment that suits your personal needs. It is also best that you help involve other people especially those you live or interact with constantly. Once they understand the adhd concept, they will also find it easier to know how to relate with you as well. Learn to listen It would help adhd sufferers if they listen to the feedback they receive from the persons they trust. It has been known that children and adult suffers of adhd observe themselves very poorly that they are usually in self-denial. Join adhd support groups Believe it or not, most of the information that pertains to adhd are not usually found in books but are actually stored inside the minds of adhd sufferers. When adhd groups come together, their experiences could be considered as valid information that could help each adhd adult. Do not be afraid to be yourself Adhd sufferers would feel happy to know that they need not feel imprisoned by careers or any other traditional manners of living with this disorder. As much as possible, try to allow yourself the freedom to just be your honest self. It would do you good to surrender whatever is the image of yourself you think you “expect’ or should just be. Be it the model employee, or organized corporate executive. Let you be the you in which you really are. Do not hate yourself Try to remember that adhd is primarily caused by genetics and not by any failure in your part because you are particularly weak in will or because of a moral flaw. Having adhd does not also mean that your character needs to be improved because it is weak. It does not also mean that you are immature. Adhd is a condition that is neuropsychiatric in origin. Accepting this fact and acknowledging this issue is a major and first step to the process of healing. Make structure your friend Treatment of adhd is helped more by establishing a structured environment. This is because an environment that is structured – like a slide bobsled that helps keep the ball from going off the track – helps keep the adhd adult similarly on track. It would also help if there are color-coded files, schedules, texts or memoranda as most adhd people are oriented visually and arresting. Expect the inevitable It would be best to anticipate a possible success and failure of a project, a relationship or obligation. Acknowledging the good and bad of an incident is a good way to help face challenges whatever they may be. All in all, adhd is totally treatable once adhd adult sufferers acknowledge that they have adhd and it is possible to live with it but not to totally surrender to it.

Gracias a algunas reglas y guнas en lнnea podrбs jugar y quien sabe ganar. Toe nail fungus

: Toe nail fungus and finger nail fungus is a condition in which fungi get under the nail of the toe or finger and cause an infection in the area. The infection can be of the nail itself or for the underlying skin in the area known as the nail bed. The condition is one in which you will want to have treated, especially if you find that it is painful or embarrassing to have. If you suffer for other conditions, such as diabetes, your doctor may want to take care of the problem as soon as possible so that it does not cause further damage to your skin. While you can have finger nail fungus, it is most commonly a toe nail fungus that will be present. In fact, at any given time, up to 18% of the population will have nail fungus infections. Nail fungus does not necessary have to be treated. If it is not causing you any pain and you do not have a problem with the way it looks, then you may choose to not treat it at all. But, if you do this, you are increasing the chances for it to spread and worsen which may result in pain. It is also likely that it will take longer to treat at that point. The good news is, though, that you do not need to live with this condition. Nail fungus cures are available to help you. There are several over the counter medications that can help in this condition. There is not a 100% nail fungus cure, but many people do find relief from these topical treatments. If you do not see any relief from them, you can and should contact your family doctor. He can prescribe medications that are stronger to help. Some of these medications do have side effects though. Toe nail fungus and finger nail fungus is something that many people have, yet you do not need to suffer from it when you seek out the help of fungal treatments such as these. Toenail fungus remedy

Fungal infections are common on both fingernails and toenails. Toenails are more prone to be affected by fungus, as these living organisms thrive in dark damp environments available on the foot than on hand. When inflicted with toenail fungus, the nails can turn yellowish or have brownish discoloration. They may become thick or brittle over time and break or shed on own. Such kind of nails is unsightly, disfiguring, embarrassing and painful most of the times. Toenail fungus can happen to any one. It is a contagious disease that spreads on contact too… Abnormal pH level of the skin, trauma to the nail, unhygienic feet and decreased immunity of the body permit this disease. Avoiding toenail fungus - - The fungus thrives in warm moist areas like spas, swimming pools, showers or locker rooms. If you step on a warm puddle or wet floor, you can pick up the infection. After using such public places, it is ideal to wash your feet thoroughly and dry them well. - Wear cotton socks to absorb moisture from the feet that happens from sweating. - If your socks are damp, take them off and dry your feet before wearing a fresh pair of dry socks. - Wear shoes that have a comfortable fit and allow plenty of air and moisture to pass through. - Avoid sharing towels, washcloths, shoes or any other personal items of those people who have already contracted this disease. - Wash and dry your feet thoroughly every time. Use a towel vigorously to remove any dead skin and improve circulation. - Keep your nails cut short, and don't use nail polish. - Trim your toenails regularly. Trim them into a straight line and then smooth the edges with a nail file. Toenail fungus remedy – - Tea tree oil is a potent natural antiseptic and fungicide that will help fight your fungus. Apply undiluted tea tree oil with olive oil to the affected toe nail. Alternatively you can put few drops of tea tree oil on toenails and rub it thoroughly every day. - Soak your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toe nails looking healthy. - Soak your toenails for 15 - 20 minutes in basin full of warm water and natural apple cider vinegar mixed in equal proportion. When done, dry your toenails thoroughly. Use a hair dryer on warm setting to absorb all the moisture in and around the toes. - Put equal amount of tea tree oil and lavender oil on a cotton ball or swab. Dab it under the top edge of the toe nail and surrounding area 2 or 3 times a day. Tea tree oil is natural antibiotic and lavender will help fight the infection and prevent skin irritation. - Blend 2 drops of Oregano essential oil with a tsp of olive oil. Apply this mixture on the affected area daily for NOT more than three weeks. Oregano essential oil has antiseptic, antibacterial, antiparasitical, antiviral, analgesic and antifungal properties. - Until the growth of the new nail is complete, apply apple cider vinegar 2 or 3 times a day. - Lather AHA creams onto your feet before going to bed. This will flush the rough scaly skin from your feet that is more prone to growing fungus.

Travel tips for people with crohn s disease

Although Crohn’s Disease is a difficult disorder, you should not keep yourself from living the best life possible because you suffer from this disorder. You should continue in your life as you would without Crohn’s, although a few more precautions may be necessary. When traveling, this will ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip. The first thing you should do, whether you are traveling abroad or close to home, is locate a doctor in the area you will be visiting. There are several organizations available to utilize in your search or you can simply ask your doctor for referrals. If you are taking prescription medication, you should be sure to take plenty for the duration of your trip. You should also keep it with you when you travel on the plane to avoid it being lost in the heaps of luggage. Always keep your medication in its original container and a typed statement from your doctor regarding what medications you are taking and what they are for. You will also need to get copies of all of your prescriptions, including foreign names, in case you have to refill them abroad. However, you should avoid this by carrying enough medication with you, as filling prescriptions in other counties can sometimes be difficult. A common ailment among travelers to less developed countries is known as “traveler’s diarrhea”. This can be especially dangerous for sufferers of Crohn’s Disease and special care should be taken to avoid it from occurring. Basically, traveler’s diarrhea occurs from the ingestion of water or food that is not as stringently processed as in the United States. Steps that should be taken include being very careful about what you eat or drink; do not drink water unless you boil it; avoid drinks made from tap water, like tea or juices that may have been mixed from concentrate; use bottled water to drink and to brush your teeth with; avoid ice, ice cream, and uncooked fruits, vegetables, and meat; avoid diary products as they may not be pasteurized; and do not eat any questionable food. If you become affected with traveler’s diarrhea, take an over the counter medication and be sure to intake plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Also watch for signs of a medical emergency, such as high fever or chills, which may be a sign of infection; profuse rectal bleeding; extreme abdominal pain; dizziness; or dehydration. If any of these occur, seek medical attention immediately.
