    The grand history of poker

The history of poker has been debated heavily over the years. Today, it is a wildly popular game, but its origins are not known by many. It is likely that the name “poker” came from the French word “poque,” which evolved out of the German word “pochen” (which means “to knock”). However, some historians doubt that the origins of poker are the same as those games bearing similar names. The Persian game “as nas” is very similar to poker. The Persian game may have been taught to the French settlers in New Orleans by Persian sailors. Additionally, poker has been connected with the game “primero” which was popular in the Renaissance. Bluffing was incorporated in the English game “brag.” An English actor by the name of Joseph Corwell said that the game was played in the city of New Orleans in 1829 with a deck that had 20 cards. The game spread to the rest of the United States by way of the Mississippi riverboats that traveled up and down the Mississippi frequently. Gambling was very popular during riverboat trips. After poker spread, the game started to incorporate a 52-card English deck. After the deck change, the flush was introduced. Draw poker, stud poker, and the straight were all introduced to poker during the Civil War. The wild card was developed around 1875 in America. Lowball and split-pot poker followed suit in about 1900. The U. S. military spread poker to many countries, including Asian countries. Poker tournaments became popular after the World Series of Poker began in Las Vegas in 1970. American casinos have had poker tournaments and tables ever since. During the seventies, strategy books first became available. The first two of these types of books were “Super System” by Doyle Brunson and “The Book of Tells” by Mike Caro. In recent years, poker has gained massive popularity for two reasons. The first reason is the introduction of online poker. There are many online poker sites today, and millions of people from around the world log on every day to play poker. The second reason that poker has become vastly popular is because of the introduction of the hole-card camera. This camera has turned the game into a spectator sport. The World Series of Poker is frequently on ESPN and has had a rapid increase in registrants in recent years.

The growing business of sports betting

"Is it fun or are we really corroding the sports and the sportsmen? Sports betting is growing in importance nowadays. There is no sport in the world today for which there is no gambling. The sports grounds have been converted to casinos and a sports game being played between two teams is now more like a poker game being played on a table at a casino. Although it appears fun and thrill to many, it may be handicapping the sportsmen and the people who are die hard fans of these sports. This many times creates lots of fuss over sports losses. Like the other aspects of our lives, sports betting is also one very commonly done through the internet. You can always find reliable web sites on the World Wide Web which provide you e-solutions to put your hard earned money into sports betting. It is safer this way. You can trust the services of e-gold more while betting than you can trust an unknown bookie. The bookmakers thus have organized their work and come to a higher standard of providing services to people now. To involve more and more people form all parts of the world, the bookmakers now use pecunix or e-bullion as a resource of transferring money to and from online betting web sites. This is an arrangement that people trust. Liberty reserves is also one of the names which has a strong credibility. Those betting web sites which have their active relationship with any of these money transferring web sites are in a better position to get the attention of the people who are interested in betting. Bookmaking may seem to be an unfair thing to many, but a lot of people enjoy it. With the common use of internet for this phenomenon, it has become a much organized way of enjoying the sports. There is a lot going on in the world of sports all the time. These web sites turn there attention towards the sport which is the most popular at any particular point in time. In this way not only people can enjoy their sports betting in a safer way, the web sites are also in a better position of doing business. There is no handicapping these web sites now. Making it easy, safe and private is what the web sites need to do. They also need to find the right sports on which people enjoy betting in a particular season. With these steps taken, there is a safe environment for those who are making the bets as well as for the web sites. "

The growing popularity of online gambling

It doesn't take an Internet analyst to notice that online gambling has taken over a big chunk of the online activity that people participate in on a day to day basis. There are several reasons for this and the fact that it is gaining more and more momentum is a testament to just how incredible this market is. For starters, there is money and excitement; what else could anyone want? Online gambling is quickly becoming the chosen method of online gaming across the globe. The strength that online gambling is showing is quickly surpassing mainstream gambling halls and casinos. The reason for this quick expansion is obvious. It is much more accessible for the average gamer to log on to their favorite online gambling site and play from the comfort of their homes as opposed to having to travel to a place where gambling is held. Of course, as with everything there is a ceiling that eventually must be reached. There will be a point when the industry will reach a critical mass and will be unable to sustain the growth that it's experiencing right now. At what point that ceiling will be reached is anyone's guess and with new players coming on board everyday, coupled with more and more casinos springing up, they are pushing that ceiling further and further away. But there will be a time that that ceiling is inevitably reached. And that is a good thing. Once the ceiling on the growth of the online casino world has been reached and there is no more growth of players or casinos the time will be ripe for more sophisticated games and gaming systems to be produced. Now try to follow me here. Once there is no more upward growth there will inevitably be outward growth. Right now there are casinos cashing in on the ever increasing customer base by simply throwing together a mediocre gaming program and setting up shop. Once the industry has reached critical mass these mediocre online casino operations will be put out of business by better models that are more sophisticated and therefore able to attract players away from lesser sophisticated online casinos. Therefore, it is in the best interest of all online casino gamblers to hope that the industry stops swelling. The only people that won't benefit from this is the lesser casino operators using lesser operating systems. Survival of the fittest is constantly at play in many systems and the online casino industry is no different. With more and more online casino gamblers coming on board there is no way that the industry as a whole won't continue to be able to take advantage of all that the future holds.

The guide to american and european roulette

One of the most popular gambling games in casinos – whether in online casinos or brick and mortar casinos – is roulette; and free roulette! From the looks of it, a game of roulette is quite simple. Even a person who has never gambled his whole life will be able to determine the rules of the game by just watching the proceedings of a game for a few minutes. What could be simpler than a roulette wheel spinning and betting on a number (or numbers) or a color where you think the ball will land? Of course, the center of the whole game of roulette revolves around the roulette wheel. The wheel measures about three feet in diameter and weighs almost 100 pounds. Not very many people know this but there are actually two types of roulette – American roulette and European roulette. First of all, the wheels used in American and European roulette are quite different. Let’s look at the similarities first. The wheel is divided into numbered compartments or “pockets”. These pockets are colored either red, black or green. Each pocket is numbered from 1 to 36 and is split among red and black. There are also green pockets in the roulette wheel and this is where the first difference between American and European roulette is first seen. In American roulette, there are two green pockets that signify 0 and 00 (zero and double-zero). European roulette, on the other hand, only has one zero. The green pockets are considered the house advantage. American roulette has a house advantage of 5.3 per cent while European roulette has an advantage of 2.7 per cent. The numbers in the wheel are not arranged randomly but in an order that tries to establish a good balance between black and red, the odds and evens and the highs and lows. If you will look closely at the wheel, you will immediately notice that every odd number is partnered with the next highest even number right opposite it. The black and red numbers also alternate, as well as pairs of even numbers alternating with pairs of odd numbers. The two roulette types also use chips in different ways. In American roulette the player uses chips that have the same value determined when it is purchased. European roulette players are free to use standard casino chips that have different values, which makes it a bit more confusing to both the player and croupier. Of course, in online roulette, the online gambling site will indicate how the betting will be done. Knowing the “geography” of the roulette wheel may not be an important aspect of playing roulette but the more knowledge you have about the game the more you will feel a free kinship to the action that happens at the roulette table. This will make the game more fun to play. This knowledge is also something that you can use when you play online roulette or even free roulette.

The hardest way to make an easy living

It’s arrival day. I just flew into Las Vegas from the East Coast. You’ll soon find out that the traveling is exhausting and seemingly never-ending. You often forget what day it is, let alone the month, and on more than one occasion, I’ve forgotten what city I’m in. The first thing you need to do is buy in to the tournament. A typical major event entry is $10,000.00. Since it seems there’s a major event every other week, this can be an expensive hobby. If you’re not going to play in any satellites or cash games, you probably want to get to bed, because if you get deep into the tournament, you’re looking at some long days. Most tournaments start around noon; so much for playing all night and sleeping all day (Myth Number One shattered). So after getting up at around 9AM — not that I sleep much when I travel — I shower, eat and maybe go for a walk. The event today is the $5,000.00 No Limit Holdem Event at the World Series of Poker. It’s noon of day one and time to shuffle up and deal. This is a relatively small field by today’s standards, with 466 entries, but some of the biggest names and best players in the world are here today. This surely won’t be easy. We get started a little late, and what a day: we play for nearly 16 hours before ending day one. We’ve lost nearly half the players. It’s now around 4AM, and thankfully I made it through. Day two starts tomorrow at noon. I have another restless night and don’t sleep very well. I feel even worse from the jet lag, but it’s back to the tables. Today we play down to the final table, and this could take a while. After surviving a few scares and more than my fair share of suck-outs and bad-beats, I make it to the final table. Nine others and myself, after playing another 16 hours, will be back tomorrow to play for a bracelet. The final table starts at 3PM, but I draw noon for my interview with ESPN. After yet another sleepless night, I return to do my interview, which goes rather smoothly. Now it’s on to the final table, and what a table it is — the likes of Gavin Smith, John Bonnetti, Todd Brunson, John Hennigan and TJ Cloutier. Am I sure this is what I want to do for a living? It’s almost surreal. Before I know it, I’m heads-up, staring across a pile of money that you wouldn’t believe, opposite a true legend of the game. I am playing TJ Cloutier for a World Series bracelet. I have the chip lead for a while, and then we go back and forth. Finally we’re all-in pre-flop A K versus A 5. A flop of 4 6 8 sends an ugly chill up my spine. A harmless J falls on the turn and then, bam!, like a bullet in my stomach, the 7 of diamonds on the river, giving TJ a four line straight. That close to winning a bracelet… my dream has to wait one more year. My share for second place: $352,620.00. Not bad for 43 hours’ work. Since it costs about $500,000.00 per year to stay on tour full time, I’m only $150,000.00 short of realizing a profit. So I guess I’m on to the next venue. So as you can see, the saying is true: It’s a hard way to make an easy living. Internet Black Jack Betting and Casino @ WagerWeb Casino

    The history of bingo

In Italy during the 1530s a lottery was invented that is still played in Italy every Saturday. This is where the game of Bingo originated. The game travelled to France in the 1770s and was initially played amongst wealthy Frenchmen. The game then travelled deeper into Europe reaching Germany, where they chose to use it as a tool to help their children learn history, spelling and math. Finally, the game reached Atlanta, Georgia in 1929 where it became known as 'beano'. It was played at fairs and carnivals around the country. Each player had some dried beans and a card containing numbered squares - this was divided into three rows and nine columns. There was a caller who drew random discs numbered from 1 to 90 from a cigar box or a bag. The designated number drawn out was then shouted to waiting players. The players used their beans to cover up the matching number on the card. The winner would be the first person to cover up an entire row of numbers. When this happened the player yelled 'beano' to alert everyone that they had won. A New York toy salesman, Edwin S. Lowe, was visiting a country fair one day when he witnessed a woman shout 'Bingo!' In her eagerness to tell everyone that she had covered all her numbers, she became tongue-tied and shouted 'Bingo' instead of 'beano'. This error ultimately inspired Lowe and he rushed back to New York to develop and market a new game - Bingo! Lowe's first commercial version of the game retailed at $1 for a 12 card set and $2 for 24 cards. A priest from Pennsylvania realized that he could raise some much needed funds for his church by running Bingo games, but he soon discovered a problem. There were often too many winners! When he brought this to Lowe's attention Lowe hired a math professor, Carl Leffer, to help him increase the amount of Bingo combinations. By 1930 they had invented over 6,000 Bingo cards - reputedly at the cost of Leffer's sanity. Word soon spread that Bingo was an easy and enjoyable way to raise money. By 1934 it was estimated that over 10,000 games a week were being played. Having been unable to patent his invention, Lowe generously allowed his competitors to pay him a dollar a year and for that he happily let them call their games 'Bingo' too.

The history of caribbean stud poker

Caribbean Stud Poker is a variant of poker, a card game with a long and mysterious history. The word ‘poker’ has a tangled history all of its own; it comes from the French word ‘poque’, which itself is a variant on the German word ‘pochen’, which simply means “to knock”. Nobody really knows how or where poker began; some say that its origins lie in a 16th century Persian card game, whilst others believe that it originated in Europe at the turn of the 19th century. One thing we can be sure of is that poker was brought to North America by French explorers, and that it was originally played in Louisiana. Many accounts name New Orleans of 1830 as the place and time where modern-day poker was first played. After being initially established, the game quickly spread from Louisiana and soon became a favorite in the West. While we don’t know who specifically invented Caribbean Stud Poker, the tropical version of the game, we do know that it originated on the island of Aruba. This popular tourist destination is just off the coast of Venezuela, and boasts a population of only 100,000. Caribbean Stud Poker is based on the rules of five-card stud poker, with the major difference being that players bet against the house, rather than other players. Caribbean Stud Poker was initially played in the Holiday Inn Hotel & Casino in 1988, where the turquoise ocean and beaches of white sand provided a fitting motive for its exotic name. Now known as the Excelsior Casino, this location is still widely popular with tourists and forms the basis of a thriving community. It has recently been the focus of attention once more, with the World Poker Tour being held there in September 2005. In the late 1980s, Caribbean Stud Poker spread throughout the islands of the Caribbean, and it was also offered in casinos on cruise ships in the area. Over the next few years it received an ever-growing reputation until, inevitably, it arrived in Las Vegas in 1992. The gambling gurus in Nevada realized that the game wasn’t quite rewarding enough to the player, so they added a progressive jackpot as a sweetener. Their plan worked, and the popularity of the game skyrocketed throughout North America and Europe. Nowadays, it’s hard to find a casino in the world that doesn’t offer Caribbean Stud Poker, and with the arrival of Internet gambling, everybody has a chance to play.

The history of chuck a luck

Chuck A Luck is a gambling game that employs three dice and a wire cage or cone-shaped chute. The dice used are standard six-sided cubes numbered from 1 to 6 at each side. The chute, which can be made of either leather or metal, is usually called a ‘horn’. The use of metal chutes in the game of Chuck A Luck is associated with the so-called tinhorn gamblers, who were actually gamblers with little money, thus the choice of metal over the higher-priced leather. An early version of the game was played by the dice being thrown or “chucked” - hence the name. A heavy welded metal birdcage device eventually became the standard use where only the dealers are allowed to turn the cage. The Chuck A Luck cage has been loosely interchanged by many with any birdcage tumbler. This is only true on the basis of the game’s definition as long as there are three dice in the cage. Cages are also used for other games such as High/Low (Under and Over) but with a different number of dice. Origins of Gambling and Gaming in the US Long before casinos came to be, card, dice and gaming table possession were outlawed in some places. As time passed, laws were relaxed to allow casual gaming or games for purely recreational purposes and not for trade. However, general hostility toward professional gamblers took a long time to go away and sometimes resulted in lynching. There were places, however, that accepted gambling as a harmless form of recreational activity. Legal gambling took the form of card, dice and animal racing games that were perceived to be proper gentlemen’s diversion. The wide appeal of gambling is attributed to its association with the frontier spirit, which relies on high expectations, risk-taking and opportunism. Lotteries were widespread and used mainly to raise revenues. Some of the earliest and most prestigious universities such as Harvard and Yale were established using proceeds coming from lotteries. Dice and card games in taverns and roadhouses slowly initiated casino gaming. Casinos were established as the population increased. During the highest point of California gambling, Faro was the most popular game played in saloons; followed by several dice games such as high/low, chuck a luck and grand hazard. The spread of settlers beyond California expedited the spread of gambling as well. Since then, laws have been enacted across the country in a bid to bestow respectability and recognition of legal gambling. Origins of Chuck A Luck Chuck A Luck is an old game that originated in English pubs. It was then known as “Sweat Cloth” and was introduced in the US sometime around 1800 as “Sweat”. It also became known by several other names such as “Chucker Luck”, “Chuck-Luck” and “Chuck” during the mid-to-late 1800’s. It was only after 1900 that it was called “Birdcage” and eventually “Chuck A Luck”. “Sweat” was played using a cup and three dice, which were thrown. Due to allegations of cheating by operators in the use of weighted or trick-shaped dice and the practice of trick dice throwing, the cup was replaced by a birdcage-like device which was flipped several times by the dealer and displayed the results when the cage stopped and the dice dropped. Chuck A Luck took a more advanced form through “Grand Hazard”, another type of dice game. The main difference lies in the layout. At present, the game can be found only in a handful of casinos worldwide, overshadowed by more recent versions of the simple dice game. Casino dice games have indeed come a long way, considering that tossing up dice holds traces of the ancient cult, being associated with the rituals of fortune telling.

    The history of craps

The history of Craps dates back to a dice game called Hazard, which dates back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in 1813. Hazard is thought to be a descendant of Azzahr, meaning ‘the die’-a game played by Arabs. The game evolved as it traveled from the Arab countries to France and then England. By the early 1700s, formal rules for Hazard had been established. France adopted the English version of Hazard and is thought to have been brought to America by early French settlers. In the mid-1700s, when the English defeated the French in Canada, the French settlers relocated to Louisiana. Dice were played on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a simplified ‘American’ version of Craps was developed. The game moved west along with the frontier and is a popular game today that is played all over the United States and around the world. The name ‘Craps’ is believed to be a French pronunciation of the word crabs, which means a pair of ones. There are two basic forms of Craps that are played-street Craps and bank Craps. Street caps, aptly named because it is played on the streets is where a shooter establishes a point and then tries to make that point. The betting is made either for or against the shooter and someone must cover the bet in order for the game to continue. In bank Craps, which is the common game, played in casinos, the casino banks the game. The players play against the house-the casino covers all of the bets of all of the players. Craps used to be a quite popular game but in the last 20 years had divided itself and other games, such as poker and black jack became more popular. However, Craps is seeing a come back in popularity once again in online casinos and in real casinos. Craps is based on a party at the table. These are the players at the casino that you often hear shouting at each other, at the table and dice-it’s a team sport-you get to play along with other players. The appeal of Craps being a team effort is what appeals to many people, however for others; the essence of the game is to make money, and lots of it. At a Craps table, it is possible to make quite a lot of money playing. Craps can be a confusing game to play at first sight. Craps looks like a difficult game to grasp however once you understand the concepts of Craps and you get the hang of the game; it is quite easy to follow.

The history of five card stud poker

Poker has a long and indistinct history. Some hold that it originated in Persia as it closely resembles a game called As Nas and may have been brought to the United States via Persian sailors in New Orleans. This game was played with 25 cards with 5 different suits. This game was played similarly to modern Five Card Stud with many of the hand combinations such as three of a kind. It seems likely that the name “Poker” descended from the French poque, which originally came from the German pochen, ‘to knock’. The game was reportedly played in New Orleans around the late 1820’s, with a deck of 20 cards and players betting on the value of their hands. The earliest known form of Poker was played with a 20-card pack (A-K-Q-J-10) evenly dealt amongst four players. There was no draw, and bets are made on a narrow range of combinations: one pair, two pair, triplets, and ‘full’ - so called because it is the only combination in which all five cards are active - and four of a kind. Unlike classic Poker, in which the top hand (royal flush) can be tied in another suit, the original top hand consisting of four Aces, or four Kings and an Ace, was absolutely unbeatable. The spread of the game after this seems to have been facilitated by the practice of gambling on Mississippi riverboats. Soon after this the deck was expanded to the present day 52 cards and the flush was introduced. The additional cards were introduced mostly to allow more players. The game was expanded and developed further during the Civil War, with many of the variants of the game being introduced then, including Five Card Stud. Poker was initially played with only one round of betting with all five cards dealt face down and no draw cards, very similar to today’s Five Card Stud game. Professional gamblers later added variations and rule changes in order to increase the profitability of the game. Wild cards and bluffing became common occurrences and the draw was added around 1850, allowing yet another round of betting. Many of the features of modern Poker, such as the draw and some versions of different hands, as well as the straight and the flush originated in the earlier forms of the British game Brag or Bragg. Brag’s modern form differs greatly from modern day poker, however.

The history of jacks or better poker

The origins of Poker and Jacks or Better are quite controversial. There isn’t any specific ancestor of the game to draw a date from. However, Poker is a very old game indeed. The earliest reference seems to be from JH Green who, in 1834, referred to the ‘cheating game’ being played on the riverboats in Mississippi of the time. Jacks or Better Poker seemed to be a more legitimate game than Three Card Monte, which was quite popular at the time. Jacks or Better took over with popularity because it was labeled a fair game. The origin of the name ‘Poker’ likely comes from the French ‘poque’ and old French game; while other people claim that the word ‘Poker’ must have come from Germany’s pochspiel. There are still few who also believe the word is derived from the Hindu pukka. Jacks or Better is one of the more popular original types of Poker that were played, although no information is really available as to its exact origins. Jacks or Better is one of the common rules amongst most types of Poker games that are played with some exceptions in the new variations of Poker that are played at casinos. Jacks or Better Poker is available as a game for video Poker. The concept behind the game is that a pair of Jacks or Better wins: the better hand consisting two pairs, flush, straight, etc. up to a royal flush. Poker was thought of as a game of the men of the underworld in times past however nowadays is played legally in many variations in casinos around the world. It is possible that Poker is derived from many of earlier games that lent influence to the game of Poker we know today. It was reported by English actor, Joseph Crowell, that Poker was played in New Orleans in 1829 with a deck consisting of 20 cards, and with four players betting on which player’s hand was the most valuable. After the spread of gambling from the Mississippi riverboats, the full, 52 card deck was introduced and used to play Poker and the flush hand (five cards of the same suit) was introduced. Poker has been around for nearly 200 years, and there have been many variations that have come about from the game. Jacks or Better Poker is one simple variation of the game that is commonly played, especially in video Poker.

    The history of keno

Keno was introduced in 200 BC by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who used this game as a finance resource for his failing army. He used this game as a finance resource to help his failing army. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after awhile of war time appeared to be facing national famine with the drastic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung needed to come up with a fast fix for the economic disaster and to produce revenue for his army. He thusly created the game we now know as keno and it was a great success. Keno used to be known as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were delivered by pigeons from larger cities to the smaller villages. The lottery ‘Keno’ was brought to the United States in the 1800s by Chinese immigrants who came to the US to work. In those times, Keno was played with 120 numbers. Keno is generally played with 80 numbers in most of American based casinos as well as online casinos. Keno is largely enjoyed today because of the relaxed nature of playing the game and the simple fact that there are no skills needed to play Keno. Despite the fact that the odds of winning are terrible, there is always the chance that you will win quite big with very little gambling investment. Today, Keno is played with 80 numbers and 20 numbers are drawn each game. Players of Keno can choose from 2 to 10 numbers and bet on them, as much or as little as they want to. The payout of Keno is according to the bets made and the roll out of matching numbers. The ‘thousand character classic’ is the heritage produced by keno history-a Chinese poem of 1000 numbers, which is known as a set of independent characters placed in a rhymed form. It was originally a new way for children to learn, however the poem is so well know that the characters are often used as a romantic numbering system. On the original keno boards, instead of using just numbers, they used these characters. Keno grew in popularity in the United States near the end of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, American numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the legalization of gambling in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When a law passed that taxed off track betting, Nevada swiftly changed the name to ‘keno’.

The history of let it ride poker

Of all the card games being played today, it is undeniable that Poker is one of the most popular, as well as being one of the most famous. People get attracted to the sheer excitement of the game, the thrill of putting one over another player and of course, the big winnings that go along with it. Because of its popularity, Poker has been adapted into a number of versions and has been regarded as an international card game. It has since evolved from being a simple household or neighborhood game into a professional, high-stakes competition that attracts aficionados from all over the world. One of the Poker variations that has evolved and has garnered strong following is Let Them Ride Poker. The game, which is loosely based on the popular card game, was developed by the Shuffle Master Gaming Company. The purpose was to increase the sales of their automatic shuffling machines to land-based casinos. It first debuted in Reno, Nevada in 1993. Let It Ride Poker is based on the Five-Card Stud Poker Game, which gives casino guests the chance to control two out of three bets wagered on an actual Poker game. Players have the option to pull out their bets if they don’t like the way their hand develops or “let it ride”, as the name of the game indicates, if they want to proceed. Let It Ride Poker is comparable to games like Video Poker, Pai Gow Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker, which are new breeds of games based on the classic game of Poker. However, unlike the usual game, Let It Ride Poker is a single-player game, in the sense that the player competes against the machine and not the banker or other Poker players. To date, Let It Ride Poker has flourished to become a very interesting and competitive game with a strong following. And why not, when it is patterned after one of the most successful card games of all time? The game tests a player’s intellect and strategy. While luck can win the player a round or two, it is no match to wits and a sheer knack for the game. Let It Ride Poker is a thinking game – each move should be well thought-out before it is enacted. Otherwise, it could make or break the whole game. This is the goal of Let It Ride Poker – to add spice and sizzle to an already electrifying game.

    The history of lottery

Lotteries have been with us for a long time. They go so far back that they’re mentioned in the Bible, and Caesar himself is known to have encouraged lottery games in Rome to help pay for repair work that needed to be done in the city. Legend has it that even the Great Wall of China was paid for by the proceeds of lottery games. In medieval times, Europe was a hotbed of lottery activity. In 1420, residents of the French town of L’Ecluse decided to follow Caesar’s lead by using a public lottery to help raise money; this time to increase the town’s defenses. Charitable causes prompted officials in the Belgium city of Bruges to hold a lottery in 1466 to raise money for the poor and needy. In the early 16th century, the Italians caught lottery fever when they introduced the idea of a ‘number’ lottery in Florence. Interestingly, the word ‘lottery’ is thought to originate from the Italian ‘lotto’, which simply means “fate”. Royalty caught on to lottery’s moneymaking potential in 1520, when King Francis I of France held the first ever state lottery. The proceeds went to the Royal Court. Forty years later, in the 1560s, lottery fever crossed the English Channel when Queen Elizabeth I decided to hold her own state lottery to raise money to improve England’s ailing harbors. Her Majesty’s prizes included tapestry and money. The lottery gained in popularity in England over the next two centuries. The British Museum in London, today one of the finest in the world, was actually started on the proceeds of a lottery in 1753. Lotteries were particularly popular in the New World in the 18th century. Benjamin Franklin used one to pay for the cannons that helped win the American War of Independence, and they were also used to pay money to the army. The Mountain Road, one of the key routes into the west from Virginia, was paid for with a lottery organized by George Washington. Individuals were fond of them too; Thomas Jefferson (the third U. S. President) sold most of his property through a lottery scheme. Many of America’s historic colleges and universities were initially set up with the proceeds of lotteries. Most notably, these include many of the universities in the prestigious Ivy League. Within the last couple of centuries, lotteries have been legalized and implemented in pretty much every country in the world. As the numbers of people playing become bigger, so do the prizes; a jackpot in the USA’s Big Game lottery in 2000 reached $363 million.

    The history of omaha poker

Poker’s inception dates back to the first or second decade of the 19th Century. It has been said that it was in the former French territory of New Orleans that the game of Poker first appeared. The gambling saloon and the notorious floating saloons on the banks of the Mississippi River have been referred to as its place of birth. The game of Poker began to attract people as early as 1811. Many surmise that the game of Poker had been made famous in the Mississippi riverboats. The first Poker games involved a deck of 20 cards composed of aces, kings, queens, jacks and tens. During that time, the players would bet on which hand was the most valuable. In 1829, it was Joseph Crowell who was the first to refer to this game, but it was Jonathan Green, in his book “An Exposure of the Arts and Miseries of Gambling” (1843), that first called the game Poker. The movement of time and the ingenuity of players have both paved way to variants in the field of card games. Poker has developed many variations, including Texas Hold’em, Ohama Poker, Pai Gow Poker and 5 Card Draw, among the many other Poker games. The variations in the different Poker games result from the continuous invention of the players to satisfy either their curiosity or desire to win. Poker is considered a game of skill and talent. It is very unlikely for new players to join the roster of skilled players to compete in a Poker game. Similar to other card games, the basic tenet in winning is to do research in order to prepare for the tournament. Researching, browsing over and learning the Poker rules and strategies become a basic rule for survival in every Poker game. Ohama Poker is one of the more popular versions of a Poker game played in many casinos and Poker tournaments. Though Texas Hold’em is considered the reigning master of Poker tournaments, Ohama plays the second best in attracting a large amount of people in card games. The reason for drawing a relatively large amount of card enthusiasts is that Ohama Poker is very similar to Texas Hold’em. The main difference, which many Poker players consider as a better deal, is that in Ohama Poker a player can choose out of nine cards. Omaha is also frequently played as a high-low split game, which means that the best hand and the lowest hand split the pot among themselves. There are certain factions that call Omaha Poker ‘High-Low Split’ or ‘8-Or-Better’. This is one of the things that makes the game visibly attractive to many card players. Ohama enjoys the prestige of being one of the most famous card games in Poker tournaments. The once humble beginnings of a Poker game in the Mississippi Rivers have been converted into a game of international fame. The good thing is, this is just the start. It will continuously attract people who are enthusiastic about learning different card games.
