    The origin of blackjack

The game of Blackjack was introduced to the United States in the 19th century but the origin of the game is still much in dispute. Blackjack can be traced back to several European card games including the French ‘Vingt-Un’ (21), ‘Trente et Quarente’, and ‘Chemin de Fer’ (Railroad), as well as the Spanish ‘One and Thirty’, Italian ‘Baccara’ and ‘Seven and a half’ which all have similarities to modern Blackjack. When gambling was legalized in Nevada in 1934, Blackjack screamed into popularity and was most commonly played with one or two decks of cards. Roger Baldwin published a paper in 1956 which explained hot to reduce the house advantage based on probability and statistics which was quite confusing for those who were not mathematicians. In 1962, Dr. Edward O. Thorp used an IBM 704 computer to refine the mathematical strategy in Baldwin’s paper and also developed the first card counting techniques. Dr. Thorp wrote a book called “Beat the Dealer” which outlined card counting techniques and the strategies for reducing the house advantage. This spawned a huge increase in Blackjack players at the US casinos who were trying to implement Dr. Thorp’s strategies, much to the consternation of the casinos. The system was difficult to understand and hard to implement and thusly increased the profits for the casinos as more and more people took to playing Blackjack. Blackjack is the most popular table card game in the United States today which was transformed from the one table game that used to be stuck in the corner of most casinos. The term Blackjack comes from the ‘natural hand winner’ of the earlier versions of the game when a player was dealt the Jack and Ace of Spades in his initial two card hand. The player was declared an automatic winner and was paid a bonus. In today’s version of Blackjack, any ace combined with any ten point value card-10, jack, queen and king, counts as a natural Blackjack, except after a split. Blackjack is a widely popular game around the world and has only seen an increase in players as the years progress. What once was a game that was not popular and seemingly too difficult to play with ‘strategies’ and ‘counting cards’ it is now the most popular card game to play at a casino in most of the world.

    The origin of roulette

There is still speculation as to where the roulette game originates from. Some declare that it is derived from China and was brought by traders and Dominican monks from the Far East to the Americas. Others claim that the roulette game comes from France, the word being French word for “small wheel", and was created by an unruly French mathematician, Blaise Pascal in the 17th century. Monaco still remains a strong convert to the roulette game because in the 18th century Prince Charles thought that it would be a convenient way to keep the economy of the small principality afloat. When the game came to the Americas in the middle of the 19th Century the invention of the single "O" was introduced by Frenchmen, Louis and Francois Blanc. However the American game now plays the double "O" game while the European game still constitutes the single "0" game. The double O game enables the house to make a higher profit. The roulette game proved to have something of a milestone in the California Gold Rush obviously attracted to the large amounts of money to be made. There are two different ways of playing roulette, there are two different wheels that are played and these are the American wheel and the European wheel. The difference is minimal in that the American wheel has 38 numbers including 0, 00 and 1 to 36. The European wheel contains 37 numbers including 0 and the numbers 1 to 36. Other differences between the two varying forms of roulette are that in American casinos, the dealers will use their hands to draw in the bets while the European croupiers use a long stick called the Rake to collect the chips. Also in America the roulette players are given different color chips and in Europe they are given the same color chips. Roulette continues to be a very popular game especially in Europe.

    The poker cheat sheet

The table below includes recommendations for pre-flop betting in low-mid limit Hold'em. This chart was created to assist new poker players, and attempts to illustrate (1) A list of 47 playable starting hands, (2) Groupings by stoplight colors (green-yellow-red), (3) How suited and non-suited hands compare, (4) Which hands you should fold by position, (5) Which hands you should call by position up to a certain number of BBs, (6) Which hands you should raise with, (7) How high you should call if someone raises behind you, and (8) How you should play the hands in heads up play (either in SB or BB). This is a lot of information for a small chart designed to be printed on the back of a business card or poster… Colors - The colors are from a stop light, shades of green, yellow and red. Any card combination not shown on this chart should not be played unless you are stealing blinds from weak players, etc.. Raising more than these recommendations would be called semi-bluffing. The grid in the lower right suggests what you should do, raise or call a certain number of Big Blinds. Early, Mid & Late Position - This chart shows betting by position assuming that there are many players. Late position is divided into two types of play, when many are in the pot versus few in the pot. The first number is the number of big blinds to (R)aise or (C)all on your first opportunity to bet, and the second number is the maximum amount to (C)all with this hand prior to seeing the flop. If the Chart says R2, and it the bet is already at two blinds, then you are to call. CA refers to Calling Any raise. Heads Up - SB & BB - This is for heads up play, indicating whether you should call or raise when in the small blind (SB) or big blind (BB). For instance, if your hand is a King & Nine of the same suit, then you have a yellow caution light, so follow the grid to the first yellow box after the words "Suit/Pr." • In Early Position: Fold • In Mid Position: Call up to one big blind, and if it comes back to you a second time, call up to two big blinds. • In Late Position w/ Few players in the pot, call up to two big blinds, and up to three if it comes back to you a second time. • In Late Position w/ Many players in the pot, cal up to three big blinds, and if it comes back, call anything. • Heads Up in the SB: Raise to try to steal the BB, and call if the big blind raises you back. • Heads Up in the BB: Call.

    The poker fish

The game of poker is really strategic and as in all games of strategy in this game you will find that there are some weak player and some strong players. The strong players devour the weak players and take their money off them. In poker, a weak or bad player is known as a fish, while a strong or good player is known as a shark. According to the law of nature, the stronger shark kills the weaker fish. In the same way in poker, the bad players become the prey of good player. If you want to survive as a poker player you must win the game; unless you win game the chance of your survival becomes less, especially in a tournament game where you need to collect chips. The winning in this game is dependant upon strategy and luck; if you follow right strategy then you can win the game. Further there is no such absolute right strategy to win every game; each time you play you are playing against new players, also different games may require different strategies, the poker shark is always familiar with the rules of the game and knows all the tips and strategies such as table positioning, the shark uses these to his advantage meanwhile the fish has never even heard of table positioning. The connotation fish and shark is very much associated with this strategy of the game. According to the poker terminology, fish is a player who des not know any strategy. While playing the game the bad player make wild chases and try to play with long-shot hands. Such bad players depend on the luck to win the game and they have to play against all odds. On the other hand the good player is equipped with different winning strategy and keeps the ability to win the game. Many new beginners want to be a master of this game in a short time; they go through many articles, reading everything they can and searching websites to gather information. Remember there is no short cut in this game; you have to learn every trick and strategy. We can say that the poker imitates the animal kingdom, where there are both predators and prey coexist side by side. The predators or good payers will seek the prey or the bad players to win the game. It is the responsibility of the bad player to flee from the table at right moment.

    The ranking of bragg hands

In this article I describe how the ranking works for different hands in the card game bragg. There are a number of different versions of bragg and I will describe the most popular version here. I will start with the highest rank of hand and will also include the probability of obtaining each hand and the amount of possible combinations for each hand. A prial A prial is where you have three cards of the same number or rank. The highest prial is actually a prial of threes, where most people would presume it would be a prial of aces. The prial of aces is the second highest rank of prial and a prial of twos is the lowest rank. There are fifty-two possible combinations of prial and the probability of being dealt this hand is 0.24%. Running flush A running flush is where you have three cards of the same suit in a sequence. Unlike in poker where ace, two, three, four, five would be classed as the lowest rank of running flush, in bragg ace, two, three is the highest. This is followed by ace, king, queen, and four, three, two is the lowest. There are forty-eight possible combinations of running flush and the probability of being dealt this hand is 0.22%. These figures of probability and possible combinations are actually quite strange as it shows that it is slightly easier to obtain a prial than a running flush. You would therefore think that the royal flush would be the highest rank of hand in bragg, but of course, as already explained it isn't. A Run A run is where you have three cards which are not all of the same suit in a sequence. As with the royal flush ace, two, three is the highest rank of run, followed by ace, king, queen. Four, three, two is the lowest rank of run. There are seven hundred and twenty possible combinations of run and the probability of being dealt this hand is 3.26%. Flush This is where you have three cards of the same suit which are not in a sequence. As in poker the highest rank of flush will have an ace in. If two people on the table have an ace flush, it is then decided who wins by the rank of the second highest card. At times people have the same rank of highest and second highest card, at this point the rank of the lowest card comes into play. For example player one has ace of clubs, queen of clubs and five of clubs. Player two has ace of spades, queen of spades and four of spades. In this example player one would win. There are one thousand and ninety-six possible combinations of flush and the probability of being dealt this hand is 4.96%. Pair This is where you have a pair of the same rank with a spare card. Where two people on the table have a pair, it is the player with the highest rank of pair which wins. If both players have the same rank of pair, the one with the highest rank of its spare card wins. Strangely enough over ninety percent of hands are no higher in rank than a pair. There are three thousand, seven hundred and forty-four possible combinations of pair and the probability of being dealt this hand is 16.94%. High card This is where you have no combinations and basically just have a high card. The highest rank of card in this situation would be the ace and the lowest a two. There are sixteen thousand, four hundred and forty possible combinations of high card and the probability of being dealt this hand is 74.39%. As you can see it is not easy to obtain a decent hand in bragg and in fact most hands which are dealt are pretty rubbish. This is why it is such a great game for people who like to bluff. Bragg is a very popular game in social clubs and card schools up and down the country and is an ancestor to poker. As well as three card bragg, people also play a seven and nine card version.

    The ranking of poker hands

Poker is becoming increasingly popular with more and more people not only playing the game but also watching television programs like the world series of poker. In this article, I describe the order in which poker hands are ranked, starting with the highest and also the probability that players have of being dealt that particular hand. A straight flush This is the best hand you can obtain and is the dream cards for any poker player. That is not to say that you always win a lot of chips with this hand and most players will tend to slow play this type of hand in an attempt to trap their opponent. A straight flush is five cards of the same suit in a sequence. The higher the top card, the higher the ranking of that hand. Therefore ten, jack, queen, king, ace, which is often known as a royal flush is the best hand in poker. The probability of this hand is around one in sixty five thousand. Four of a kind This is where you have four cards of the same rank or number which are the same. As with the above the higher the rank of the four cards, the higher the value. Therefore four aces are the highest rank of all of the possible four of a kinds. The probability of this hand is around one in four thousand, one hundred and sixty five. Full house A full house is where you have three cards of one rank or number and two cards of another rank. As with the above, the higher the rank of these two sets, the higher the value. Therefore if you have three aces and two kings you will have the highest rank of flush. To explain it in even more simpler terms, the one with the highest ranking set of three cards, wins. The probability of this hand is around one in six hundred and ninety four. Flush This is where you have five cards of the same suit but not in a sequence. A flush which includes an ace has the highest value. If there are two hands on the table which both have a flush with an ace, it then goes to the second highest card to see who wins etc. The probability of this hand is around one in five hundred and nine. Straight This is where you have five cards in sequence which are in different suites. The highest straight is again the one which has the highest card at the top. The probability of this hand is around one in two hundred and fifty five. Three of a kind This is the same as the four of the kind explanation apart from the fact that this is where you have three cards of the same rank or number. The probability of this hand is around one in forty seven. Two pairs This is where you have two cards of one rank and two cards of another. There is also an odd card which can sometimes come into play. If there are two players on the table with two pairs the highest ranking pair wins. If both players have the same highest ranking pair, the highest second ranking pair wins. If both players have the same set of two pairs, it is the one with the highest odd card that wins. The probability of this hand is around one in 21. One pair This is where you only have two cards of the same rank. When two players on the table have the same pair, the other three cards come into play, with the highest card winning etc. The probability of this hand is around one in 2.4. High card This is where you basically have nothing but a high card. When two players on the same table have just a high card, the one with the highest card wins etc. The probability of this hand is around one in two. I hope this has explained the rankings of the different poker hands to you and made it a bit more easier to understand. Poker is a great game to play, be careful however only to bet what you can afford to lose. I personally prefer to play on the internet rather than in the casino. I basically play for fun, and merely hope to make some extra money for myself. I am quite a patient player who is willing to wait for a good hand to come. I think this is an important skill to have in poker and it has helped me to do quite well over the last twelve months. One small tip is to avoid playing poker when you are drunk. Maybe it is just me but I always seem to play with a lot more aggression and less patience, when I am quite drunk. This may work for some people but always seems to end up with me losing quite a lot of money.

The red sox pitching staff is in trouble

: In the past several years, as the Boston Red Sox have lurked around the top of the American League East, the one constant and reliable figure on the hill has been Tim Wakefield. The knuckleballer was second on the team with 119 2/3 innings, but after grappling with back discomfort for the better part of a month he could land on the disabled list. For now he is considered ‘day-to-day’ and will undergo a more thorough medical evaluation on Tuesday. Regardless of whether Wakefield ends up on the disabled list or not his injury highlights the team's continuing struggle to get innings from its starters. After enduring six occasions in the last 10 games in which the team's starter lasted five or fewer innings, the Sox are famished for innings. If they do not receive more substantial contributions the club could overtax its bullpen. LHP Jon Lester, Tuesday's Red Sox starter, has averaged just 5 1/3 innings per start despite an impressive 2.89 ERA. The 22-year-old has run up high pitch counts partly the result of occasional wildness and partly the result of an effort to be precise. While his excellent three-pitch repertoire could allow him to succeed while attacking the strike zone, the Sox don't want to force the issue. 380 — The number of games that Red Sox players spent on the disabled list through July 14! The other Sox’s team and defending champion White Sox No. 3, 4 and 5 hitters, which have mostly been Jim Thome, Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye, entered the second half hitting a league-best .319 with 77 home runs, 236 RBIs, 199 runs and 137 walks. The Tigers are a combined 3-10 against Chicago, Boston and the New York Yankees, but most of the games were closely contested and came early in the season when Detroit was not nearly as confident in itself as it is now. Detroit encounters one of the few teams to blemish their season Tuesday when the second-place Chicago White Sox visit Comerica Park for a three-game series. RHP Jason Grilli has pitched well in a spot relief role this season. Grilli has allowed a total of one run in 14 of his last 18 outings. He's been used to get a single specific batter out, been asked to go an inning or more, worked early relief, mop-up and to keep his team in the game so it can come back. The Tigers were only the 10th team in the last 30 years to win 60 games before they had played 90. Dustin Moseley was far from spectacular, but good enough to win his major league debut Monday in the Angels' 10-5 victory over the Indians. Now it's Joe Saunders' turn. The Angels will start a pitcher just called up from triple-A Salt Lake for the second straight game when Saunders opposes the Indians sporting a 10-3 record that he compiled at Salt Lake. The newcomers are needed because Jered Weaver and Kelvim Escobar suffered injuries, but the Angels are hopeful Weaver can pitch on Saturday and Escobar on Sunday. The Angels have a 12-1 record in July and a season-best seven-game winning streak following a 10-5 win over the Indians. It is the first time in the club’s history that the Angels have started any month with a 12-1 record. Sidney Ponson hasn't been on the mound since July 6 when he went six innings for the St. Louis Cardinals against the Houston Astros. He was designated for assignment the next day, was waived, and then was claimed by the Yankees last Thursday. He will make his debut in pinstripes on Tuesday against the Mariners. Now 54-36, the Yankees joined the Tigers, White Sox and Red Sox as the only teams playing .600 baseball. At least one of those teams won't make the playoffs which sets up an interesting summer for online sports betting. Bob Acton Online Sports Betting

    The reputation of baccarat

Playing at land based casinos is quite different from playing at online casinos or online poker rooms. Although the online gaming industry offers every casino game possible at an easy and colorful platform, the real thing is pretty hard to replace, even impossible. Some casino games can not reserve there original form at the online casino, no matter how resembles they may be. One of the casino games that answer to this description is the game of baccarat, which is a classic land based casino game. Baccarat does not have complicated rules or advanced strategies as other games have (like the game of poker for instance) but it has the best element a game needs in order to have good publicity, and that would be questionable reputation. By questionable reputation I do not mean bad reputation, but I do not mean good either. So what does it leave us with? It is quite simple - it leaves us with a mysteries reputation, unknown but still rising curiosity. If you have been to a casino before, you probably know that the atmosphere is everything. For those who have not been to a casino, I'll explain. When you enter a casino, you enter some kind of a personal fairytale where you are rich and famous and as long as you are there, women (or men) will ask for your presence, drinks will constantly be given to you and you will have a variety of games offered to you. Until, of course, you will lose all your money and be forced to leave the magic kingdom. At this kind of place, where everything is so colorful and the variety is infinite, each game tries to stand out and draw players to his side. Some do it with flashy lights and noisy dealers while others do the exact opposite. The main reason for why baccarat is considered to be such a prestigious game is hidden inside the baccarat room. The room is covered with big curtains (usually red suede) and is, by that, separated from the other games of the casino. The game usually has a very high minimum so it can only be played by rich and experienced high rollers. The baccarat players can enjoy the presence of a couple of casino girls or more, who are there to serve them drinks and entertain them. The game itself is very easy to learn and even easier to play, so why is it considered so prestigious? As I already said, each game has its own glamour around it, and the baccarat's glamour is that not every one can play it. If you ask me if I think there is more to it then just the atmosphere, I will say definitely not, but for some it is certainly enough. As for my personal advice, I say go ahead and try every game at the online casinos and land based casinos, as long as you do not forget to do the most important thing of all - have fun!

The rise and rise of poker an article by the sportsman

The immense diversion of the gambling and betting industry over the last ten years has without question changed forever. The likes of football betting, online casinos and, of course, poker hardly existed on the betting landscape as horse racing was in a market of one. The internet coupled with the Lottery have transformed the industry permanently and it’s all the better for it. The National Lottery place a crucial role in all this despite being hailed by bookmakers at the time as being the deathnel of the ff-course betting shop. The reality, and to be fair nobody, saw it coming, was that The Lottery sanitized the whole notion of betting – it was now seen as OK to have a small flutter for a bit of fun. The internet arrived simply as the rocket fuel to pour on the naked flame. Nevertheless, the real product winner is without question poker. The exchanges have a case but they are still, at present, seen as only for the sophisticated gambler. No doubt as the rest of the world catches up with the UK the likes of Betfair will flourish more globally but perversely they almost need the traditional bookmaker to be established before them. Poker however seems to have swept all before it and unlike Betfair it’s a multitude of companies that are seeing the benefit from online bookmakers to bespoke poker sites. But why has a game that has been around for hundreds of years suddenly exploded so much? The reality is because it is, in fact, very easy to play, if you want to see exactly how easy then check out the rules of poker. True it does take longer to master as much of the marketing will tell you but, especially online, where your face doesn’t give you away those with the basics can still beat the best and the David and Goliath factor is what drives most people, especially when gambling. Whether it’s you versus the bookie, other poker players or other exchange users, the drive is the winning. Not necessarily the amount – watch a new gambler winning a long odds-on bet with Ј5 wagered – still delighted despite only collecting a matter of pence. Now that so many people play can there ever be a true World Number 1? It is surely very unlikely from now that any single player will win the WSOP twice – ever! This is because te sport is now completely swamped with new players many of whom are very good at their craft but elements of luck will always play a part. Some will argue this is true of any sport but in most traditional sports the best players are there or thereabouts. Nevertheless, the figures show the game to be in rude health and seemingly not showing sings of reaching a plateau which it must at some point but the figures coming out of Party Poker and 888.com show nothing but the rise and rise of poker. Nobody should be talking of flushing or folding just yet, just wait for the Chinese to get online and the sky will be small fry as far as limits are concerned. The above article was brought to you by the The Sportsman.

The role of online gambling in american economy

: The online gambling in the United States is considered a billion dollar industry before the enactment of the unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last 2006 which prohibit businesses from accepting credit cards, checks, or other bank instruments from gamblers who illegally bet over the Internetpliance with those prohibitions and regulations would be enforced by various federal agencies as well as state governments, and violations would be subject to new civil remedies and criminal penalties. It was recorded that most of the online bets are coming from the United States approximately with about 80 percent or beyond. These billion dollars are probably used to be to support and strengthen the US economy. In addition, things are getting worse to the US government. Recently, they have already an arrangement to pay millions of dollars as payment for the penalty of the island Antigua. This is due to poor compliance of the decision of World Trade Organization when it comes to online gambling. Some of the US Presidential candidates have strong understanding towards the role of this activity in the lives and progress of the country in a legalized form. There are some pros and cons in the legalization of online gambling, Republican Ron Paul speak out against any form of internet gambling prohibition, in contrast, a well-known poker players, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are in support of this issue. Online gambling is a competitive business many gambling sites will provide good offers to get potential gamblers to use their site and stay with them. It brings many benefits to the countrymen. As time passes by, these Internet gambling companies would bring more employment to the Americans. One best example how beneficial the industry is at the online gambling destination of Costa Rica which is among the highest paying industry in the place. Many gambling operators raise millions of dollars back into the Costa Rican economy. The industry requires a skilled work force with highest knowledge in English. Online gambling in many ways illustrates just what is wrong with the US economy today. Jobs and whole industries are emerging elsewhere in the world with less and less being fed back into the American economy. The whole world was feared especially American highest officials, economists and business leaders as well to the possible dragged down of the US economy. Political and business leaders with around 2,500 members gathered for a serious meeting about the present US economic situation at the Swiss skiing resort of Davos. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn recently announced for the economic forecast the following week to keep track what will happen for the economy in the mere future. In many ways, online gambling shows just what is happening with the US economic situation today. With the blossoming economy of Costa Rica, this will be the substitute to support to the world economy as IMF chief stressed out.

    The tell

A serious poker player learns pretty quickly that studying the strategies of the games and putting these strategies into practice is not all it takes to be a winner. A little bit of psychology and knowing how to read body language is a pretty good asset to have any time you play poker and knowing body language is what “the tell” is all about. A tell is any behavior, physical reaction or subconscious habit a player exhibits when contemplating an action: betting, calling, raising or reacting to another player’s action. If you are knowledgeable about tells, you have the advantage of knowing what certain players may do at any given time in the game. Additionally, having this knowledge will help you keep your own tells under control. Of course, tells are learned best when playing with familiar opponents but with some experience you can “read” many players after a few hands. In the movie “House of Games”, one of the best examples of a tell is when a player twisted his ring whenever his cards were weak. One of his opponents who was aware of this tell used it to his own advantage. Although all tells may not be that obvious, here are some tells that should stand out to any alert player who has studied this aspect of poker strategy. The eyes don’t lie! That is why poker players who understand tells often wear tinted eyeware, sunglasses, visors or caps. Eye reactions can be difficult to control. Some players may control give-away eye reactions by staring at their hole cards which also has the effect of advertising a possible strong hand to intimidate the other poker players. We’ve all heard the expression “poker face”. It means someone whose face is expressionless. The origin of this phrase began with professional poker players who, wary of tells in their demeanor, learned to control their expressions. Body language is a very obvious tell. The experienced pro will consistently avoid any particular movement that could result in a tell to other players. A player slumping in his chair conveys lack of confidence and a weak hand. Someone sitting erect and alert may well have a strong hand. Experienced players study their opponents carefully, noting their style of play and are very alert to signals from other players such as trembling hands or an anxious glance at their chips which could indicate a strong hand. Pros or novice players are often unconscious of voice modulation, another obvious tell to the careful observer. A player with a weak hand may act loud and aggressive to cover his insecurities, whereas a player with a monster hand may behave in a low-key manner to avoid intimidating other players into folding. As a generalization but worth considering – players who neatly stack their chips are often tight, conservative players. Those players whose chips are sloppily stacked and disorganized could denote an aggressive and foolhardy player. The way an opponent bets during specific situations is an important tell that an experienced player can use to his advantage. The player conscious of tells will vary carefully calculated betting patterns. The player who is not conscious of being studied may, for example, consistently check hole cards on the flop and several times thereafter. This behavior can indicate insecurity, a lack of conviction that can be taken advantage of by a strong player who can often bluff such an opponent into losing confidence in his cards and folding. Carefully calculating betting patterns into one’s “style” takes a thorough study of poker strategy and playing experience.

    The texas holdem poker rule

Have you seen Texas Holdem Poker? If not yet, then you better try to watch Texas Holdem Poker on the ESPN and the Travel Channel. But if you have some interested in joining such game, then you better read this article about the Texas Holdem Poker rules for your advantage. Before anything else, it is important to note that the Texas Holdem Poker is actually the version of Poker that is played in many casinos and seen on the Travel Channel’ World Poker Tour and ESPN’s World Series of Poker. For those who wanted to know the Texas Holdem Poker rules, here they are. First things first, you should know about the Shuffle, the deal and the blinds for these are the first important things that the overall Texas Holdem Poker rules hold. Under this Texas Holdem Poker rule, the dealer shuffles a standard 52-card deck. In line with that, this Texas Holdem Poker rule states that most of the Texas Holdem Poker games begin with a couple of players to the left of the dealer, which is actually the button, placing a predetermined amount of money into the pot prior to any cards that are dealt. This Texas Holdem Poker rule holds that this act is important to ensure that there is something to play for on each hand. Under this Texas Holdem Poker rule, this act is known as “posting the blinds”. Also, under this first Texas Holdem Poker rule, the “first blind”, who is the player to the left of the dealer, puts up the minimum bet, and the “second blind” puts up the full minimum bet. With this Texas Holdem Poker rule, each of the players is dealt two cards that are face down, and which are known as the “hole cards”. As the gambling starts, the Texas Holdem Poker rule holds that if a round of betting takes place, starting with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds, the players can call, raise, or fold when it is their turn to bet. Furthermore, under the Texas Holdem Poker rule, after the first betting round, the dealer cancels the top card of the deck. This act is called burning the card and is usually done to make sure that no one of the players accidentally spotted the top card, and also to help prevent cheating. Other moves to complete the Texas Holdem Poker rule are maintained, and lastly, the Texas Holdem Poker rule remain to its level until the player who has the best hand wins.

    The trap and poker psychology

Everyone who plays poker has heard of "having a poker face" or being trapped. Having a poker face is more than just the look on your face, it's all of your body language and actions combined. A good poker player is an observant poker player. You have to learn to associate your opponents facial expressions, body language, speech, and even the bet amounts with what they eventually are revealed to have been holding in their hand. Facial Expressions: With online poker, you of course cannot use this. But in a real poker game you can. Start with the eyes. When they call or raise a hand, do they look down, to the right, to the left, at an object in the room? Then what did they have when they did that? Do they smile? Grind their teeth? Immediately take a sip of their drink after or before the bet? Look for these things each time they call or raise. Body Language: Do they play with their poker chips under certain circumstances? Lean back or forward? Look for things they do with their body and then what kind of hand they had each time they do that action. Betting Amounts: Some poker players don't realize they have a pattern at all or they figure no one will figure out the "code" they use for themselves. Watch how much they bet, then what type of hand they had and see if you can associate a particular hand strength with a specific range of bet or even a specific raise amount. If you find a pattern where your opponent always does a specific action in relation to having a good hand or bluffing, you have their number and can beat them at poker easily . . . or can you? The Trap: You can establish a pattern that will be picked up by the other players. Let it cause you to lose a little money here and there. Let your poker opponents think they have your number by doing specific actions associated with different hand strengths. Don't let it cost you too much money and watch for the signs they are taking the bait and are using your patterns to beat you. Then you can spring the trap. Wait until you get a really good hand, a sure winner and do the actions you had been doing when bluffing or when you had a lower strength hand. Your poker opponents will think they have you and bet the limit. You'll win what you lost and a lot more. Playing poker is a lot more than just knowing how to bet the cards in your hand. There is a lot of psychology involved, mind games, if you really want to play with the best.

The true perks of casino roulette gambling beyond bonus credits

Copyright 2006 Carolyn Fusting All of the major casinos offer casino roulette gambling at the tables and often they will also offer slot machine roulette gambling as well. Both games are operated in much the same way in terms of betting, however casino roulette tables have places for people to sit and gamble at them. Most tables will accommodate 5 to 8 people sitting and as many as 10 or more crowding around the outside. The casino roulette slot machines on the other hand are designed for one player to play in comfort without the overcrowding that sometimes takes place around a roulette table. The rules of the game itself are quite simple and straightforward. You can place your bets on any of the numbers or combinations of the numbers and you may also wager odd or even and red or black. Depending on what bets you have made, the odds for a winning hand could vary from 2 to one to 35 to one. The roulette table is often an exciting place to watch and place your bets. Many people will crowd around the table to see who wins or to place bets themselves. Players will also play with numerous strategies to beat the house. If you are a serious roulette player, you can make arrangements with the casino to play in a high roller area where generally speaking the atmosphere is more calm and much more elegant. Servers will bring you drinks as well as appetizers for you to enjoy while playing roulette in one of these exclusive areas. Also, very often participation is by special invitation only and even uninvited spectators merely strolling about in curiosity are not welcomed. There is always a host who is running the roulette game and there is also a pit boss who oversees the table gaming area. The pit boss can also provide players with complimentary food vouchers, show tickets, and even free rooms depending on the length of time you have played and your average wager at the roulette table. The rewards for casino roulette gambling can be obtained through complimentary gifts like these as well as winning at the table. Of course, to win at the table and receive a complimentary room or meals is really the icing on the cake, to use an old expression. When you are playing roulette and if you plan to play for any length of time, always make sure you are rated by the pit boss to be eligible for any complementary gifts that may be available. This way, even if you don't make the jackpot or hit it big after all, your stay may easily pay for itself, especially if you factor in all the fun and excitement you have experienced.

    The truth about betting systems

Every gambler knows someone who plays to a system. But serious blackjack and poker players don't use systems because they're overrated. Skill counts a great deal in both of these games and it tends to balance out the chance factor over any significant period. People who bet on the horses are always using systems, yet the house edge in horse racing is far greater than in the game of roulette - and the edge is too great in roulette, too. The bookies rake in between 15 percent and 25 percent on the horses, which takes any advantage away from you. Even so, some knowledge of horses can help you at the track … but there is no information you can apply in roulette or craps. These are totally games of luck. None the less, gamblers do try to formulate betting systems to overcome the house edge in these games. There are countless systems in use - doubling-up (also called the Martingale system), in which bets are increased progressively; doubling-up plus 1; raising, lowering and cancellation; and a myriad of subtle variations on these systems. A common factor they all share is this: they don't work. Eventually you'll lose because only one factor makes the difference in the long run, and that's the house advantage. Using a system just delays the inevitable. The only winning strategy for craps or roulette is to get a lucky win and then make a hasty departure. If you hang around, that house edge is going to sneak up on you eventually. In the majority of systems you have to raise your first bet until you've recovered what you lost. Maybe this would work if we were betting on the toss of a coin. Suppose you wager $10 on heads but the toss comes out tails. You would merely need to bet "double or nothing" over and over again until heads did eventually win. We'll assume there's no top limit on the betting in this game of heads or tails and you could bet a million dollars if necessary as you sought to break even. Casinos do impose betting limits, however. A drawn-out succession of reds would break you if you were playing double-up or double-up + 1 on black. In a simple toss of a coin, moreover, you don't have to play against a built-in house advantage. The problem at the heart of any gambling system is that the odds are always stacked against you. The house edge insidiously works against you, and the more time you spend trying to beat it, the more likely it is to get you. If you ran a shop, would you sell all of your goods at a 5 percent loss? Over enough time any betting system will break you. So, is there nothing to be done? In craps or roulette you must do everything possible to maximize your chances of winning. Bet on a number, not on corners. Go for a win in the fewest possible number of dice-rolls or spins of the wheel. Gamblers who like to prolong the pleasure of being at the table are the ones who lose. If your roulette bankroll is $100, bet it on two spins of the wheel. If you get lucky, leave the table at the first sensible opportunity. Don't ever walk away immediately after a winning spin. Let the winning streak run its course first. But as soon as that happens, cash out and leave. Craps and roulette call for mighty self-discipline. Be absolutely determined to bet fast and walk away with what you win. If you let the game draw you in, it'll eat you. If it's fun you're looking for, become familiar with blackjack. You can play blackjack as long as you like and there's not much of a house edge to worry about if you keep your head screwed on straight. But your interludes at roulette or craps should be more like lightning raids. And leave your betting system behind when you go there, or it'll cost you dearly.
