Walk on the bright side to grow your internet business

You regularly hear about the physical benefits of walking. It strengthens your bones, your muscles and your heart and helps to control your weight. It stimulates the systems of your body that are necessary for optimum effectiveness, e. g. your cardiovascular, immune and respiratory systems. Research has shown that walking can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, bowel cancer, strokes, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Walking also has psychological benefits for you. It is mood-enhancing and can help combat depression. It can build stamina, confidence and energy and help to reduce the risk of stress and anxiety. You will often hear that you should go for a walk to clear your head, empty the clutter from your mind or remove negative thoughts. Walking, however, can fill your mind – through walking you can create new ideas, gain new insights, and develop new perspectives. It can give you the stimulus and inspiration to move up to another level in your Internet business. Recent research has shown that physical activity, such as walking, can help ward off Alzheimer’s disease. It has this effect because walking, and other physical activities, create new connections in your brain. So when you walk you are creating new physical connections in your brain that in turn help you to develop new ideas, insights and understanding. When you walk you start to see connections between things that before seemed quite discrete or separate. Often the solution to growth of your Internet business and income is right before your eyes, looking you in the face – you just can’t see it! Walking gives a clarity of vision and insight that puts things in a new light – even things that you have seen everyday. It is these new connections, intuitive understanding and creative insight that can make a real difference to your Internet business. For example, I have discovered the following ideas and insights through walking: • a viral report that I could develop from my own articles and ebooks/software for which I had resell rights • a series of articles around a theme • a theme, focus and ideas for an e-book that will integrate resources I have acquired and my Internet experience with particular marketing activities • ways to increase my opt-in mailing list through my blog and existing resources in my download folder • multiple, reinforcing strategies for generating visitors to my blog • ways to link my mailing list and my blog postings • how to use my blog to simultaneously promote multiple programs • ways to link my blogs to cross–promote and create a blog ring • how to use ebooks and software from JV Giveaways to create an integrated info product • how to use my blog and resources I already have to develop a pull marketing vs. a push marketing strategy • ways to link my professional consulting in e-learning with my Internet business • the theme for this article which draws on my own experience with walking and ideas expressed in one of my son’s university biology assignments. You too can gain new understanding, ideas, insights, and perspectives to grow your Internet business. All you need to do is walk and your mind will open up to the multiple intelligences you already possess.

    Wanadoo broadband

Information On Wanadoo Broadband It has always been a goal of Wanadoo to be at the top of the UK's broadband industry. Wanadoo was one of the first ISPs to provide unlimited dialup, and it was also the first ISP to provide 2Meg broadband at under Ј15 a month. This summer is going to be very busy at Wanadoo because they are running a trail method to provide broadband without having to access a BT phone line. This is being done in a technique called Local Loop Unbundling. Wanadoo was introduced in the UK in 2001, when a French company took over the already popular Freeserve service. Freeserve was created in 1998 by The Dixon's Group, in the early days of the 56kbps pay per minute dialup. They were the cheapest ISP around, even back then. Wanadoo's large investment in LLU should prove successful. If it does, BT could lose a major portion of their customers. LLU is going to be a great alternative choice to BT's standard ADSL, and it is going to be provided at a much lower price. Costs to implement LLU, which had previously been high, have dropped significantly to a level where many ISPs are seeing it as a real alternative. Some of the smaller ISPs were already using LLU, but Wanadoo will be the first to bring it into mass production. The advantages of LLU would let users have cheaper and faster internet, which would allow users better services with live video on demand and internet telephony. For some time now, Wanadoo has been a constant competitor to BT. Wanadoo has worked hard in upgrading their existing network. They recently doubled their standard 1mbps package to 2mbps. BT mirrored the change to avoid losing subscribers. Both Wanadoo and BT have implemented a monthly cap on the amount of content their customers can download. BT limits their users to 1 GB, but Wanadoo's just happens to be double that at 2 GB a month. Wanadoo is proud to have 0.7 million broadband users. They still lag behind BT, at 1.7 million customers. Wanadoo has announced their goal to match BT's current 1.7 million by the year 2008. Wanadoo is currently offering services of 2mbps broadband with a maximum limit of 30 GB. This is their premium package, but they also offer Pay As You Go and unlimited 56k dialup. The fastest broadband offered by their competitors in the UK is 8mbps unlimited broadband, but this figure seems to change often. The advantages of going with a Wanadoo Broadband connection is that you don't pay any connection costs, and you receive a free modem along with a bonus of 6 months of free local calls on your current phone line. Wanadoo doesn't have such a good reputation with their subscribers. Since ISPs are universally known to have poor customer service, Wanadoo is no different. They also enforce their monthly caps with no leeway by cutting off customers and placing a limit on users who have inadvertently gone over their limit. Wanadoo services are also not strangers to a bit of downtime once in a while. The future of Wanadoo is hanging in the balance, as just last month the French company that owns Wanadoo and also owns the Orange mobile phone service made public the fact that it is going to leave behind the Wanadoo name in favor of the moniker, Orange. Wanadoo's current poor reputation could explain the desire to re-brand Wanadoo. By using an internationally known and trusted name, it opens up possibilities of cross-market opportunities. Starting early next year all Wanadoo customers will be having a new email addresses. It is interesting to note that the French company Tйlйcom, spent Ј20 million to rename Freeserve several years ago, saying that Wanadoo gave the impression of "power, passion and dynamism". The cost of re-branding this time will be around Ј135 million for the first year, although the French company intends to break even by the close of 2007.

    Washington wizards message boards

Got a passion for sports? Heard the name Michael Jordan? If so, then I bet you love basketball and you are familiar with the Washington Wizards. For those who don’t know much about the Washington Wizards, note that Wizards is a professional basketball team and one of the seven teams in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Reports have it that the team was founded as the Chicago Packers and they also played the Chicago Zephyrs, Baltimore Bullets, and Washington Bullets before adopting its current name – the Washington Wizards. The team entered the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the 1961-62 season as the Chicago Packers. That time, they only won 18 games in the first season. However, despite the poor start, they boasted their talented rookie center Walt Bellamy, who averaged 31.6 points and 19 rebounds per game and won the league’s rookie of the year award. The franchise had undergone changes not only in names, but also with the members of the team. Perhaps, the most well-known names that led the Wizards to fame are Gene Shue, Dick Motta, Jeff Malone, Bernard King, and Michael Jordan. There’s a lot more to tell about the Washington Wizards. What I have mentioned above is just a sort of background. Now that you are a bit interested to know more about the team, then I suggest that you look for some Wizards message boards online. You are free to post anything you want to say, provided that you are not offending anybody on the community. Just be careful with your words and Wizards message boards are participated by different people of different personalities. Note that the members of the Wizards message boards are not just those who are optimistic about the Washington Wizards. There are also some who hate the Wizards. To make everything easy for you, I have here below a few of the most visited Wizards message boards online. Just note them and try to visit them if you have time. However, for you to post a message on these Wizards message boards, you need to register first. Don’t worry because these Wizards message boards don’t require fees for the membership. The registration for the forums is absolutely free. And, this gives you a full access to the other features of the Wizards message boards. Here are two of them: Wizards Discussion Forums at AOL I guess you are familiar with AOL. Well, AOL is one of the most well-known internet service providers on the web. It has been maintaining several message boards for its users, and one of those is the Wizards discussion forums. Here, you are allowed to post messages on the board or create a new thread for the other members to post replies or follow-ups. Note, however, that you are required to register although you there are some features that you can access without registering. But, if you really want to post your own concern then there’s no reason for you not to register. Wizards Message Boards at NBAWire Just like the forums provided by AOL, you can only post messages on these forums if you are a member. So, as a guest, you have a limited access to view most of the discussion, articles and access to the other free features. Thus, it is best that you join the community and start communicating with the other fans of Wizards privately or respond to polls. The registration for these boards is just simple, fast and free.

    Watch your mouth

Internet users are very autonomous and self-directed people. With this in mind, you will have to echo those character traits and use the right tone of voice to fit with them. You should also be very careful and really watch your mouth while talking with them, since they are just one click away to your competitors. There is no correct tone of voice and approach towards interacting with website visitors. There are millions of them, and each of them is right for a certain type of website and business. What you can have in mind in all the cases is: • To master the right tone, try to think about what your potential customer really likes, what is he interested in and what can catch his attention; • Always be clear and direct while talking with your website visitors (your clients have enormous choice); • Be fast with providing response. It is better to give partial information immediately than the whole information and be late. Remember: Internet is all about immediacy and people are sick of WWWait - language; • Filter everything to its core, but be sure to keep the tone that fits with your corporate identity; • Throw away the dictatorial tone and use more pleasurable and persuasive voice; • Try to avoid incomprehensible and offensive words; • Write active sentences and engage visitors - do not use passive sentences. E. g. "You will be informed upon this issue" can be "We will inform you about the prices" • Strive not to use superlatives and claim that your products are incredible or astonishing. People have had enough of the everyday sales hype; • In any case: try not to be very persistent and try to oversell - they will surely notice it and they hate talking to sales people. • Give your website visitors their space and they will be grateful. Dante Alighieri once wrote: "Liberty is the prevention of control by others".

Ways to distribute your catalogs to your targeted customers

Ok, you have done everything you need to do to produce a quality catalog and they have been printed. How do you get them into your customer’s hands? In this article we will talk about catalog distribution. If you are going to distribute your catalog in the most common method, by mail, then you will need a mailing list. Maybe you already have a list of customers you are mailing the catalog to or maybe you need to purchase a mailing list that targets a specific demographic or geographical area. There are mailing lists that are targeted by zip code, by income, by the fact they are homeowners, by if the people on the list have children, and even more specifically targeted categories like homeowners who have lived in their home more than five years, etc. You can easily find lists by searching the web, but be careful. How new is their data? When was the last time they updated their data? Is the company you are buying the list from reputable? These are questions you need to keep in mind before purchasing a mailing list from anyone. There are also catalog distribution services who already have all of that information and who can handle all of the distribution for you. Having a professional catalog distribution service do this for you can help you avoid costly mistakes. The post office can give you rates depending on the size and weight of the catalog you want to distribute by US mail. Something I hope you kept in mind when printing your catalog is durability. The post office has to process all mail including catalogs, then it is handled by other people, then the postman, before it ever gets to your customer. So if you do not have at least a durable cover for your catalog, you may want to have them wrapped before mailing them out to protect them from damage. You want your customer to see your well-designed catalog before any damage occurs. There are other ways to distribute catalogs as well. Of course if you have a retail outlet or store, you can offer your customers or walk in traffic a catalog. If you have foot traffic going by your store all the time, you can set up a display outside of your store with catalogs for them. You would be surprised at how many people it will bring inside to shop. You can talk to friends who also have stores and shops, your beauty shop or barber shop, convenience stores even. People will pick up a well-designed catalog that looks like it has something they might need. Everyone loves to shop and a catalog is the easiest way for them to shop. Be creative, keep catalogs in your car so you can hand them out to people. When you stop somewhere you might want to ask the store owner if they mind putting some of your catalogs somewhere for their customers to pick up. Obviously if you sell anything similar to what they sell it’s not a good idea to ask them. Last but definitely not least is offering your catalog through your website, ezine, or newsletter. If you have a website, you simply put in a form for a visitor to fill out with their name and address and mail them a catalog. Websites seem to be impersonal to many people. The offer of an actual catalog sent to them from your website will also give them more confidence to buy not just through your catalog but through your website as well. If you already have an ezine or newsletter you mail out to website visitors, offer your catalog to them as well. Here is why. Yes these people already may be buying through your website so sending them a catalog is costly. However, you have to keep in mind when you send out one catalog to one person, many people may end up browsing through it. They distribute your catalog for you in effect. They may not show everyone your website, but they will share their catalog. I hope this article has helped you with your decision about how to distribute your catalog. There are other methods depending on your budget, the number of catalogs, and the people who you want to send them to. The most common way is to use the postal service. Professional distribution is more costly, but they know how to get your catalog in the right hands and can track the mailings and have other advantages.

    Web 2.0 build on it

In 1999, ICMediaDirect opened up shop as an online advertising agency, and we viewed our chosen milieu, the Internet, as a limitless possibility – there was no talk of bubbles, no clouds on the horizon. In fact, conversations in the business tended to include terms like venture capital or IPO and it didn’t matter who was talking. We knew who scored what and when. Like weekend golfers talking about the Masters, we dreamed of being the next eBay. Guys like me with, well, ordinary websites talked turkey, big turkey. And why wouldn’t we? Those were halcyon times then. And they’re back – except, ahem, this time it’s different. I hope. Nah, I’m sure of it. Y2K was distinctly a time of fortuitous updraft; we were swept up in a tide of optimism. This Internet thing seemed like it was going to last forever. The early 90’s brought us a proliferation of interconnected tech advances that gave rise to a new medium of business. Personal computing had become universally available and affordable. Rapid advancements in the digital media field, improvements in size and scope of network infrastructures, and the rise of giant Internet companies for connection and service created an Internet we still recognize today. Deals went down, geeks got rich (or richer), and about the magic in this Internet – we believed. There was a problem, though – promise and wonder alone cannot fill out a bottom line. Economic reality called in its chips and publicly traded stocks, the most successful of the start-ups who’d already actually “made it”, with their valuations 100, 200, 300 times earnings came tumbling down. So, that money, which had raced too far ahead of ideas and their implementations, retreated. And when the markets soured, so too did sentiment. Money, as it’s wont to do, overtook dreams; it had run right past the sensible bounds of ideas. Soaring stock prices and gaudy deals in unproven fields had created a nasty bubble. It was the Web 1.0 bubble, but at the time I thought it was a buying opportunity. It was March 2000 when the tech market started tanking. Actual technology however, never retreated, even though the casual observer might have thought engineers went to find new careers. Okay, some did, but still, science did not retreat. So, as the money dried up, Internet capability continued to grow. And it grew rather quietly until the shape of a Web 2.0 was recognized. Like the Internet itself, Web 2.0 did not start with the flip of a switch, but instead it materialized with the gradual confluence of profitable web ventures, added Internet usability, and mass availability to high-speed connection. I am not uncomfortable crowning Google king, or at least the most emblematic of Web 2.0 examples. In fact, while the dot-com bust was at its most bleak, the boom times of Google were just getting started. More importantly, Google and their successful IPO mark a new age of profitability for Internet advertising. Sure, people may talk bubble, but they’d be talking about GOOG being overpriced, and not a leaky boat in a storm. Google is profitable. Yahoo is profitable. Microsoft’s AdCenter is coming. Ask might be on the rise. These are big companies vying for share in a profitable Internet arena. Compare this with the original Internet boom, there was certainly competition, sizable big money competition – but over unproven business models that were ultimately unprofitable. It’s different now. Web 2.0 is just getting started. There is a focus on making the Internet a platform for end users. Paying bills online is no longer a novelty. Shopping for clothes and books online is commonplace. Mobile music playing components are built around the compatibility of downloading music off the Internet and not store bought units. MySpace is an interactive pen-pal phenomenon far beyond anything we’d have predicted only two years ago. Even Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) phoning is saving phone customers money. These are the old dreams that went up in smoke five and six years ago. We’re just getting started. Joseph Pratt Media Analyst ICMediaDirect icmediadirect e: [email protected]

    Web 2.0 babble

The seeming collapse of cyberspace in 2001 became a point upon which web trends turned. People predicted the end of the cyber era. However, this is all part of a vicious technological cycle of peak trends and shakeouts. It is at this point, that real success is measured. And the development of Web 2.0 is just that. The concept began with the premise that contrary to speculations of web-crashing, the Web or the Internet is more promising and needed than ever. The steady rate of development, and coming out of new sites and programs are taken as signs of a stronger Web space. This was taken into consideration by MediaLive International and the O'Reily Team in developing the concept of Web 2.0. However, the passing years have tangled the meaning of the concept. Disagreements about its meaning added to the general mayhem. What exactly is Web 2.0, and how does it differ from the Internet of the past (Web 1.0)? Their main difference is that Web 2.0 strives to make the web space more personalized and interactive. Whereas Web 1.0 uses static HTML, the 2.0 version offers blog publishing which is highly interactive and dynamic. Web 2. 0 also tries to un-complicate the web experience so even newbies won't feel intimidated by the many links and complicated web designs. As a result, Web 2.0 prioritizes navigability and simplicity in website design. Moreover, sites can be managed by several authors rather than an exclusive group of Internet professionals. Personal sites are also out of Web 2.0 together with the guessing game that comes with domain names. Personal blogs wherein the owner can post whatever interests him is the "in" thing. Plus, blog readers can comment on whatever the writer wrote, thus, the experience is kept active and dynamic. In addition, SEOs also make it easy to find information and websites. With Web 2.0, cyberspace can live up to its tag as an info superhighway. Other innovations on Web 2.0 version are the use of syndication and folksonomy. With this new applications, directories are no longer needed. Plus, new infoware are in constant beta. Software are easily available in the Internet rather than sold as separate items. Web 2.0 is easier on the user as compared to the older version. This makes Web 2.0 a stronger, steadier, and wider space wherein everyone can find a niche for himself.

Web accessibility facts 10 things you didn t know

So here is the top 10 accessible tips: 1.With the deadline for website accessibility is October 2004 when all points of the DDA become part of British law. 2.The Disabled Rights Commission (DRC) is a government-funded body empowered by the Disability Rights Commission Act 1999 to instigate formal investigations aimed at eliminating discrimination and encouraging good practice in the treatment of disabled people. 3.The DRC conducted accessibility testing on over 1,000 UK public and private sector websites and published their findings. Stopping short of naming and shaming, they stated that "swathes of businesses may not be complying with existing equal access laws" and that it is "only a matter of time" before they face legal action from disabled consumers. 4.One in seven people in the UK - about 8.5 million - suffer from some form of disability (Source: DRC). 5.Two million people in the UK have a sight problem (Source: Royal National Institute of the Blind). 6.8-10% of the male population has some sort of colour-blindness - for some reason it is more prevalent in men. 7.The world's first successful action over accessibility (Barry Maguire vs Sydney Olympics Organising Committee) netted the litigant just $20,000 in damages. But the legal costs and subsequent web development bill ran into millions. 8.AOL settled out of court in an action brought by the US National Federation of the Blind but they continue to be haunted by bad publicity from this case. 9.In February 2003 the Guardian newspaper slated Abbey National plc over its poor design and inaccessible web services - we bet they are on the DRC's list. 10.Accessibility isn't just about serving groups of disabled users: the same standards also enable web-access by phone and PDA. There will be 993 million people accessing the net through these devices by 2006

Web analytics make a plan. and stick to it

When it comes to analyzing your web site statistics, what's infinitely more important than the numbers themselves is the actual trend that they portray. If you're trying to build traffic to a web site (and who isn't these days?) then your first concern should be that the numbers are increasing on a regular basis. To properly watch those numbers, and know when you need to make adjustments, you should not depend on analyzing statistics that have been logged over time. Instead, you should make a daily, weekly and monthly schedule to look over certain statistics. For example, you may want to watch daily trends in traffic and page views so that any trend lasting more than a couple of days can be immediately addressed. Once a week, you might want to look at how many hits you're getting via search engines. And, perhaps, once per month you'll want to look at how many page views per visit are being generated by search-engines versus links, versus direct traffic. If you're running pay-per-click advertising, it's even more important to track your clicks and where they come from on a regular basis. Small changes can easily lead to large disruptions in your income flow. In the end, you'll need to decide for yourself which stats you should analyze daily, weekly and monthly according to your own site goals. Once you've decided which are the most important statistics to track regularly, write down a daily, weekly and monthly to-do list. Make that plan, stick to it, and you№ll find yourself infinitely more in touch with your site. You№ll think about creating solutions to your challenges more often. And, in all likelihood, you'll find yourself dealing with a more and more successful web site.

Web business overview have a plan

So you've decided you'd like to go into business on the web, eh? This article will give an overview of options that are available for your web business and will help to give you an idea of what goals should be set for your project. After deciding to be a web entrepreneur, the next step is to create a business plan. Business plans are as essential to a web entrepreneur as blueprints are to a construction worker. To build a business most efficiently, you must first be an architect and plan how you would like your business to look, what it will do and how your goals will be accomplished. There are many ways a person can go about making money with the Internet. Options include selling products as a wholesaler or retailer, selling services, promoting products or services as an affiliate partner, selling advertising, selling email or demographic information, selling subscriptions to sites and any number of other ways and combinations of money making ideas. A good business plan will include details on the service or products you will be offering, growth goals for your new business, projected expenses and losses, employee projections, and any other information you will need to clearly outline your successful business. Though there are many approaches to the actual construction of a business plan, a month by month or quarter by quarter analysis is common. For example, if your online business will be selling widgets, you may want to go through, month by month and estimate the total number of widgets you will sell, the cost of selling these widgets, expenditures on marketing, hosting and overhead, and any other foreseeable factors you can think of. If within six months you want to begin selling skyhooks as well as widgets, this should also be accounted for in your business plan. Before moving on to our next topic, it is important to remember that business plans are constantly changing. Some of your projections will be difficult to make accurately, so do the best you can with the information at hand. As more data becomes available through research and experience you will be able to make revisions to your business plan. I am of the belief that it is generally a good idea to make profit projections on the low end to start with. If you believe you can sell between 10 and 100 widgets your first month, it is better to plan to sell only 10, and be pleasantly surprised when you sell 55, rather than to plan for 100 and fall short of goals that have become unrealistic yet necessary for the survival of your business. After you have a good plan for your business, the next step will be to research your business. But that’s a subject for the next article.

    Web business overview marketing

You’ve done your research, written a business plan and created a web site. Now it’s time to market your web business. Internet Marketing There are many ways to market a web site. One of the best ways is through search engines and directories. Search engines ensure pre-qualified traffic, meaning that if someone finds your site through a search engine, there is a good chance they are looking for the widgets you are selling. You just have to do you homework on keywords, optimize your site and submit it to search engines correctly. Organic There are several types of search engines and directories. A spider search engine uses programs called spiders to go around the web and collect data and bring it back to the engine. The data is then analyzed using various mathematical algorithms and your site appears in various listings. Of course, you want to get to the top of the listings, but that subject is beyond the scope of this article. PPC Then there are pay-per-click search engines, which require the site owner to pay for every click received from a list of search terms the site owner provides. Traffic can cost anywhere from a cent to a few dollars per click on pay per click engines. This is a good way to get immediate traffic to your site. Directories Then there are the directories, such as Yahoo. These directors have reviewers that check submissions for quality and categorize them in folder-like branches of information. Directories such as Yahoo require a payment for listing, whereas other directories, such as DMOZ, do not. Some directories use a combination of human and spider review as well. Trading Links Another way to get traffic to your site is by trading links with other sites. A banner or text link is placed on your site to another relevant site, then you kindly request that a link to your site be placed on the site you have linked to. Link trading has a side benefit, to wit, the more you trade the higher you will appear in organic search engine results. Brick n’ Mortar Other methods of web promotion include web rings, banner exchanges, print advertising, banner advertising, TV and radio advertising and good old networking. Far to often, web businesses fail to pursue regular old marketing methods. Don’t make this mistake. Now that you have a good plan, done some research, provided your service or product for all to see with a web site, and marketed your site to no end, there is nothing left to do but sit back and rake in the cash. Until, of course, your competitors start moving in on your customers and you have to start the cycle all over again.

    Web business overview site practicalities

When starting a web business, the first step is generating a business plan. Once completed, it is time to move on to the particulars of your site. Research Are people actually buying your widgets from other sites? To find out, you could check stock of stores and Web sites, ask for friends' opinions and find more data online, in media and at the library. If it turns out people are not buying very many widgets these days, now may be a good time to change you business plan. Also research what your competitors are doing and if there is any way to improve upon their business models. Web Site? After you have a business plan and done some research, it is time to begin building your business. Though it is not essential for a web entrepreneur to have a web site, for our purposes we will assume one will be required. Other methods of making money on the web are quite possible, such as by creating an opt-in mailing list or selling products though services such as eBay. Host and Domain In order to have a web site one must have a host and a domain name. Think of the host as the home of your web site and the domain, such as widgets, as its address. Domain names can often be registered for less than $10 per year. Free hosting is even available, but a user of such services is required to have the host's banners on their site, which is not particularly desirable. A host should have reliable customer service, have very high uptime, meaning your site is accessible on the web as close to 100% of the time as possible, and give your business room to grow. You don't want your host to crash if you get ten thousand visitors in one day. If you need programming or ecommerce, you will want to make sure your host will support your needs. Server stats are also very handy. Build It After you have a home and address for your web site, you will need to build it. There are two roads you can walk down. Many web entrepreneurs choose to build their own sites and learn as they go. This is often desirable if you are interested in HTML and programming, have time to spare and don't require a professional polish. Many sites that make money promoting affiliate programs attract an audience that expect a rough, non - professional site to lead them to a polished sponsor site where they will spend their money. The other road is to have a professional design your site for you. This is the best solution for many. Like a construction worker who knows the best way to build houses and can do it better and faster than the average layman, so it is with web design. If you are planning on selling a product or service directly, it is essential to have a sharp image by which your potential clients will judge you. With so much information and so many web pages available, surfers often move on after only a few seconds. A professional design will ensure you will be making the most of each visitor that views your site. Now you have a plan, a product or service and a web site to sell it with. This is all very nice and all, but without people viewing your web site, you can't make any sales. You need a solid marketing plan to get the visitors to you site, by which you can make sales. And that’s the subject of our next article.

    Web directories general introduction

Having a web directory is becoming increasingly popular these days. It can bring many benefits such as delivering an increased amount of new visitors and providing a steady income. Google, Yahoo and MSN contribute heavily to its algorithm. Many webmasters are attracted by the fact that they can get traffic from such directories and would pay a small fee or put a reciprocal link to get their website listed in these directories. These benefits will ultimately improve the promotion of the website. Webmasters are also very interested with inbound links for improving their PR (Page Rank) with Google. A good PR gives better position in Google’s search engine results. In theory the more quality inbound links you get, the higher your PR will go. Directories give a good solution for all webmasters. They also prove to be a good addition to existing web sites. We can differentiate 3 types of directories: free, reciprocal-link and Pay for Inclusion directories: 1) Free directories are by far the most interesting for webmasters as they can give a high PR without having to spend a penny. However you’ll have to spend some time submitting your website to all of these. They don’t usually give you much traffic either as there is an over abundance of them on the internet. 2) Reciprocal-Link directories require placing a small link into the webmaster’s website. This can be dangerous if the directory has been black listed by Google. 3) Finally, Paid For Inclusion directories can deliver very good results as they usually give better PR and have more traffic than free directories. However, not all directories will give you good results. Many use a redirect function for linking to your website. Your website won’t benefit from such links. You’ll need a static outgoing link from directories to gain weight with search engines. Many of the directories do offer you deep-linking options which mean that they will allow you to submit more than one URL from your domain in order to get your internal pages more traffic and ranking. So keep in mind that directories are wholly beneficial for your websites as long as you take the time to carefully plan the submission beforehand by checking if they are not using tricks (redirects, reciprocal). Also, don’t forget to submit your website to the most relevant category on the directory and to read its description!

    Web site analysis 101

Eliminate guesswork and measure success – that is what analysing your website visitors' behaviour [or web analytics] is all about. Understanding where they came from, where they land and what people are doing on your site. Virtually all web-hosting services provide rudimentary analytics that can help you begin to understand what users are doing on your site. But most hosting services just don't provide more sophisticated tools. Tools such as funnel reports, which show how visitors are progressing through the various stages or levels of your site – hopefully to become a lead / conversion / sale or navigation reports which give you visitor activity such as entry points; where they clicked; where they came from; where they went; how much time they spent on a page and their exit points. Then there are tools such as segmentation reports which track the behaviour of specific groups of visitors such as purchasers, those who came from Google etc. and robot reports which monitor when search engine spiders index your site There are free packages you can use from ClickTracks or Google but you must apply to Google and it can take weeks for them to set you up whereas ClickTracks Appetizer is free, immediate and includes several of ClickTracks' most popular features like overlay view, path view, page analysis and basic visitor labeling. But once you have a web analytics tool what do you do with it? To many people statistics can be daunting and interpreting what they mean can be painful; but hey, no pain, no gain. The first thing you need to understand is some basic terms: Hit: a request for a file from your web server noted in the log. Page view: a request for a file whose type is defined as a page in log analysis or an occurrence of the page tagging script being run in page tagging. In log analysis, a single page view may generate multiple hits as all the resources required to view the page (images,.js and. css files) are also requested from your web server. Visitor session: a series of requests from the same unique visitor with in a single visit. A visit is expected to contain multiple hits (in log analysis) and page views. Unique visitor: the uniquely identified client generating requests on your web server (log analysis) or viewing pages (page tagging). A unique visitor can, of course, make many visits. Repeat visitor: a visitor that has made at least one previous visit. New visitor: a visitor that has not made any previous visits. Referring search terms: the search phrases people are using to find your site. Referring URLs: tell you which web sites are sending you traffic. Content popularity: the list of most popular pages on your site. Site overlay: displays your actual pages with a click level indicator next to each link showing the number of people who click on each link. Bounce rate: reveals the number of visitors who left the site from a particular page. OK most of those are obvious but they are still worth laying out. In future articles I’ll expand on some of these terms and on the whole subject.

Web site marketing strategy article submission to article directories

Every website needs traffic. It’s pretty simple really. No matter how wonderful your website design is, it will just squander in no man's land if no one ends up visiting it. Obviously, if you have a business enterprise being run on your web site, the need for traffic becomes an absolute necessity, since without traffic, no one visits the site which means you get no business. Your automatic recurring income stream is dependent on the number of visitors you will receive as you drive traffic to your web site. As far as getting web site traffic goes, there are many ways to accomplish this. There are some that market a guaranteed number of "hits" if you pay a specific price per quantity of hits. There are some companies that offer deliver bulk traffic for a certain period of time, say for a month or two if you pay a certain price. Then there are viral marketing campaigns in which you have a product embedded with your web site link that gets passed around (usually for free) to other marketers. After a while, your website link is in view of a lot different people and if the links are clicked, your web site receives traffic. These methods of driving web site traffic are well and good; some offer more benefit than others, most definitely. These methods, especially lead or "targeted" hit purchases, will cost you significant dollars over time and may or may not prove to be beneficial for the money. I have found one tactic that will definitely drive targeted web site traffic to your site. The method I am talking about to get more web site traffic is called article submission marketing. It is a powerful strategy that will end up giving you many backlinks to your web site, without you having to lift a finger once your articles have been submitted to article directories. Because of this, article marketing is now very popular among the internet marketers. How does article submission marketing work? Well, all you have to do is to write an article on a topic that has some informative content to it. The topic of your article should obviously be about what your web site is about. This is so that people that read would read your article, will also be interested in going to your web site, because the content of the article and the content of the web site are based on the same or a similar topic. You don't even really need to know much about the subject you are writing the article about since there are resources available that you can use to provide a baseline that would have enough informative content in it to get your article started. Generally, a 350 to 900 word article is all that is needed. Once you have written the article, you need to submit it to an article directory to get it published. There are many article directories to submit to. A few good article directories I know of are mentioned here theonlinearticleplace, goarticles, articlefactory, ezinearticles and articlecity. Once the article submission is completed to one article directory, continue to submit to others. At the very end of your article, you should include a resource box. The resource box contains a short bio about you as well as a link to your web site. Then, once your article has been submitted to many article directories, your link on the directory will provide a one way backlink to your web site, which is great for search engines to recognize your site as one that is relevent for the topic you wrote about (and what your website is about). Now, every time a user visits the article directory and reads your article, three benefits would result: 1. In the mind of the reader, you would be branded as an expert of the topic you wrote about. 2. Your link will get exposure from article submission to any directories it ends up on. 3. Copies of your article may be put on a reader's own web site, giving you even more backlinks from those new sites your article is now hosted on. Article directories appear prominently in search engine results because of all the content they contain. If you have written your articles to make good use of relevant keywords of your topic, there would be a better chance that the page where it will be hosted would appear in the results page of many related search queries. Article submission marketing is the best and cheapest way to get backlinks that you could ever want in the world of web site marketing! Additionally, editors of electronic magazines, or eZines, as well as webmasters, regularly browse through article directories looking for articles they could use as content for their newsletters or their sites. If they find your article to be of interest and decide to copy it for republishing, they may providing they keep your resource box intact. This is to avoid copyright infringement. When this is done, it gives your link even more exposure because now it is being hosted on even more web sites, article dirtectories, ezines, etc. The best thing about having your article on other web sites is that the article directories will never delete hosted articles. The possibility of your article getting picked up by editors and webmasters the world over would go on and on for as long as your article is there in the article directories. Obviously, possessing some writing skills would make the process easier. But if you are not blessed with such skills, or if you simply don’t have the time to prepare your own articles, you could always hire the services of a ghostwriter. The going rate of a 500 word article these days is somewhere in the vicinity of $5 to $15. Any amount below this range would be a bargain. Just make sure that the ghostwriter is perfectly qualified for the job and that he formally agrees to provide you with original material. Imagine the power of article submission marketing when your mass quantites of articles are submitted to the many article directories. Talk about bang for the buck - or in this case no bucks! In summary, article submission marketing is simply amazing in its simplicity and power. If you have not yet tried this strategy, do so as soon as possible, and it will be sure not to fail you.
