Investment advisors 101 ask some questions

Investment Advisors (IAs) come in all different intellectual, professional, and alphabetical varieties. They range in educational qualifications from High School dropout to PhD, and can be professional Accountants, Insurance Salesmen, Stock Brokers, Investment Managers, Dentists, Lawyers, TV personalities, and Gourmet Chefs. Anyone can be an Investment Advisor! It seems reasonable that your trust should gravitate toward those who have educational credentials, hands on experience with their own money, and no direct financial benefit from the advice provided. Stay safer by finding a fee only advisor who has just one profession… and the ability to say NO. Why do people become Investment Advisors? Call me skeptical, but I don’t think it’s the ethereal glow they feel after implementing your new Financial Plan. Actually (once you appreciate that IAs are the primary delivery system for Wall Street’s huge collection of one-size-fits-all products), you’ll realize that it’s the money. No conspiracy here, just a subtle brainwashing that has convinced you that the Advisor’s primary objective is to protect your family. In reality, the primary goal of commissioned advisors is to protect their own families, and they accomplish this by selling Investment Products. The Investment Advisor label has become a euphemism for product salesperson just as Financial Planner nearly always means Insurance salesperson. Stay safer by finding a fee only advisor who has just one profession… and the ability to say NO. Serious IAs can be identified by acronyms following their names (also by dark three piece suits and facial hair), RIA and CFP being the most common. As professional as this seems, designations do not create trustworthiness, for several reasons: IAs must become RIAs to be licensed to sell investment products. Most practitioners affiliate themselves with major Wall Street Institutions to defray their start up costs and many are subsidized in return for pushing their sponsor’s products. Finally, most advisors will remain in bed with one company at a time throughout their careers, constantly touting the present firm’s products as “best”. Hmmm. Hundreds of companies, thousands of IAs, convincing millions of shoppers (investors) that they have just purchased the one very best product to achieve their financial goals. From cradle to grave, most IAs dance to a tune that’s not being played by their clients. Over the past several years, Wall Street has managed to invade the once respected Insurance Industry by attaching Mutual Funds to life insurance and annuity products, making them far too speculative to achieve their once guaranteed objectives. But the “variable products” scam dwarfs in potential long-term impact to the more recent high crime against investors. This is the one that ignores the (in-your-face-obvious) Conflict of Interest when Accountants sell investment products! Many professionals have multiple degrees; few have multiple practices. You deserve a specialist. If your CPA/Lawyer/Doctor (who’s next) can make a living in his primary practice, why sell investment products? Greed? Hubris? And why does Wall Street allow these non-professionals to push investment products? Don’t be naпve, the more people out there pushing Investment Products, the bigger the bonus for the Masters of the Universe. Stay safer by finding a fee only advisor who has just one profession… and the ability to say NO. In spite of the fact that the “burn out” rate among IAs compares with that of restaurants and Mutual Fund Managers, and that the advisory business itself is a cut-throat, competitive battlefield, the Financial Institutions that employ the majority of IAs prosper, multiply, and produce more product for your “eyes wide shut” consumption… because you, your products, and the management fees remain! A caring and successful Investment Advisor makes an excellent income and should; a successful financial institution buys other financial institutions! The hierarchy of commissions paid to IAs can exceed 10% on “private deals”, limited partnerships, and a litany of speculative products and services. On the more controlled substances (sic), Annuity commissions can run above 8% with 10-year lock up provisions common and Mutual Funds provide a generous 4% to 6% whether you see them or not. New issues, odd lot Bonds, and other securities that don’t show a commission, include marketing fees and mark ups that can be substantial. What ever happened to individual Equity portfolios? It’s a combination of in-greed-ients… products are less work and produce more money. Stay safer by finding a fee only advisor who has just one profession, the ability to say NO, and who knows something about individual securities. Most people need Investment Advisors. Life Insurance protection is vital; fixed annuities are helpful for people of limited means; Mutual Funds are the only option (pity) in most self-directed retirement plans. The vast majority of employed Americans are Investors, actively or passively, with little time or expertise to select securities and manage portfolios. (If the Democrats would accept this, they just might win an election.) But recent experience confirms that we all have a responsibility to our own money, a responsibility that we should only delegate to a professional if we know what the professional is supposed to know. The fact that he or she is an XYZ Fund representative just isn’t enough. You need an independent advisor that has ideas rather than products and an understanding of markets, not marketing. If you are willing to ask the right questions, you can find an IA who might just be able to help you (and herself) at the same time. Try these for starters: Do you sell any products? Do you have a personal portfolio that I can review? Do you provide a “fee only” advisory service? How long have you been in the financial services business, and is it your only business? (It’s not your job to educate “newbies”!) Are you affiliated with any other financial services companies? Do you have at least five non-family clients who you have been advising for at least five years… that I can contact directly? Will you be compensated for referring me to someone? Stay safer by finding a fee only advisor who has just one profession and the ability to say NO. The ability to say NO? An advisor will tell you not to do something that he feels is inappropriate… a salesman will do what you tell him to do.

Investment basic what does successful investing require

Successful investing requires knowledge, time and commitment, discipline and patience, and the ability to develop an investment strategy that is compatible with your personality. Knowledge Each individual must consider what he knows when planning an investment strategy. Recognizing your current level of knowledge, and how you will acquire the additional wisdom you need, are all-important factors. Time and commitment How much time are you willing to spend monitoring your portfolio? This is a critical question. An individual's investment plan should be based on his level of interest in ensuring personal financial success. The more diversified a portfolio is, and the more complex your strategy, the more time you will need. To be successful, an investor mush map out a strategy that carefully matches his own personality and level of commitment. Discipline Although many investors start with an approach that will work for them, the ability to maintain discipline eludes far too many people. This is caused by a variety of psychological issues, led by fear and greed, that tend to dominate predetermined financial strategies. During various stages of a stock market, different investment styles will work better than others. Sometimes a value approach will be in favor. Other times a growth or momentum style to accommodate the market. Patience The last trait for successful investing is patience. Without it, your returns will be more limited. Warren Buffett reminds us that it takes nine months for a woman to deliver a baby. Investments usually take more time to work out than most people consider. Once you plan an investment strategy that complements your personality, managing a portfolio should be simple. The challenge will be to follow the game plan and to remain disciplined. An investor who establishes varying time frames for holding different types of securities will be much less inclined to lose patience in well researched ideas. This type of analysis will also assist the investor from "holding too long," while watching his momentum idea fall out of favor and create large losses.

Investment basics don t forget about bonds

You should consider investing in bonds for both income and stability. In any given year equity markets could appreciate in value by 30 to 40 percent or decline in value by the same amount. Bonds fluctuate far less. Bonds also pay interest on a regular basis and thus investors will receive a cheque each month or quarter. As with any investment, it is easy to get lost in the minutiae and with bonds the details come from some of the arithmetical calculations that determine the yields, returns, and risk of a bond. Here are the basics. Bonds offer a fixed amount of interest (the coupon rate), until a fixed period of time (the maturity date) at which point the denomination, also called the face value, is repaid and the interest payments stop. Bonds are issued by the federal, provincial, and municipal governments, and by a wide variety of corporations. In general, corporations have to offer higher coupon rates to sell their bonds. Maturity dates range from 1 year to more than 30 years, with higher coupon rates being associated with longer periods to maturity, to compensate for increased risk. Long-term bonds tend to rise and fall in price more dramatically than do short term bonds; these bonds are more susceptible to movements in interest rates. In addition, bonds that provide higher coupon payments will fluctuate less than bonds that pay lower coupon payments. Staggering the maturity dates of bonds, which mixes bonds with short, medium, and longer periods to maturity, as well as mixing the institutions issuing those bonds (to include governments and some corporate bonds) will allow you to build a diversified bond portfolio). Bond trading is done between dealers, which means that you won't be able to view a complete auction market and its available quotes via the internet or even the newspaper. These same dealers will be able to supply accurate calculations of bond yields and the current price. Investors who invest in bonds directly as opposed to investing in bonds through a mutual fund will save on fee; saving 1/2 of one percent can make a big difference to your net worth. Investors who want diversification and active management could consider a bond mutual fund.

    Investment clubs for beginner investors

If you are an investment beginner and are looking for ways to invest, increase your investing knowledge or buying power and want to gain some friends along the way, then an investment club could just be the thing to help you get started towards a successful investing future. Investment club defined An investment club consists of a group of private investors who pool together their money into a common fund in order to purchase stocks in the form of a group investment. Some investment clubs buy stocks only after they thoroughly studied their prospective company plus of course after they have voted on it. Each member is given individual responsibilities in the club. Some members are tasked with researching a particular stock while others are given the responsibility of searching for resource persons that can provide them with the additional information that they need. Still other members are given the task of compiling the financial reports of the club. Each task provides members with an opportunity to gain some knowledge on investment. There are also other advantages derived from belonging to an investment club, take for example the increase in pace in terms of your investment knowledge. Since each member is tasked to perform various functions, gathering of essential investment information is much faster compared to when just one individual is to do the whole job. There is also much lesser investment risk since a thorough study is conducted before an investment is made thereby increasing the chances of successful investment returns. Plus, the training as well as the knowledge derived by members will help them later on if ever they plan to go solo. Nevertheless, there are some members who still prefer to invest with their co-members since they believe that they make better-informed decisions about stock purchases when there is an absolute participation from the club members. Likewise, rapport among the members is developed hopefully giving way to friendship. Friendship developed between investment club members makes it even more worthwhile to continue investing and makes the investment process an enjoyable learning experience. Interesting facts on investment clubs Most investment clubs are not required to register with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, but it’s worth checking two federal laws namely the Securities Act of 1933 and the Investment Company Act of 1940. You may also check out some laws of your state under the office of the state securities regulator. The National Association of Investors Corporation is also an excellent resource for the creation and maintaining of investment club. Lastly, it is not necessary to create an investment club that requires actual purchase of stocks. In fact, an investment club that serves as an educational club for would-be investors can be created and similarly members may also pool their resources for the benefit of learning together while any purchase of stock is left at the discretion of individual club members. The best benefit derived from joining any type of investment club is the learning gained from conducted studies and researches onto what types of investments are feasible and what are not.

Investment formulas what purpose do they serve

What exactly does a formula do? A complete detailed explanation can be as vast and complex as each individual investor and is beyond the scope of this article but a brief summary of a formula's usefulness would include the two primary functions it fulfills. First, over a full market cycle, it will improve your investment profits without the application of any thought whatsoever on your part. A good thing for most investors, because the less emotion they inject into their investment decisions - the better off they are. Because there are many investors who don't believe that the market will ever go through a full cycle again - that the direction of the market is in a permanently upward movement, except for temporary, minor dips. It might be worthwhile to point out - without seeming to be pessimistic - that there are some good arguments against an indefinite continuation of bull markets… as the past few years have shown. The second purpose of a formula - apart from the question of profiting from complete market cycles - is to provide a means of profiting from more minor fluctuations. It is undeniable that the market will continue to fluctuate and a formula allows the investor to benefit from these fluctuations by specifying conservative investment policies when the market is relatively high, and more aggressive policies when it is relatively low. For many, formulas appear rather complicated and so the obvious question that comes to mind is "Can the small investor profitably use them?" and the answer is resounding yes. True, some formulas are so complex that they are unsuitable for most investors but most formulas do not fall into this category. The most widely used formulas today, in fact, are based on extremely simple principles and can be used by anyone with a rough knowledge of elementary school math. Special measures to adapt formulas to the needs of small investors are necessary, at times but it is worth noting that small investors are just as likely to want to improve their profit performance in the market as are the larger investors. And what's nice about formula's, is that there is no particular disadvantage in having a small portfolio when using them. Security or Uncertainty All investors, both large and small find themselves in the same basic quandary. All would like to be sure of what is going to happen next to their capital and so they are inclined to appreciate the features of fixed-income investments such as, bonds, savings accounts or commercial paper. In such investments, their capital is guaranteed and so is their interest. On the other hand, there are few opportunities for appreciable profits in these areas and no protection against a decline in the value of the dollar. As a result, many investors / speculators are attracted by the characteristics of common stocks or currency trading or whatever… where neither their capital nor their return is guaranteed, but which offer substantially better opportunities for higher profits through capital gains. How to resolve the dilemma? It is obvious that the great difficulty with all investments is there inherent uncertainty. One workable suggestion for reducing the damage this uncertainty can do has been often made. Simply don't buy common stocks or other higher risk investments at all. However, most investors tend to regard this idea as, although practical, rather extreme and are reluctant to abandon the possibilities of profit that exist in these investment vehicles. The formula idea is simply a form of protection against uncertainty. Formulas are designed to allow the investor to profit from the advantages of owning common stocks or other higher risk investment alternatives like currency trading, while providing them with a measure of protection against their handicaps; to give them some of the stability offered by fixed income investments, while not condemning them to a low return on their money. The whole point of formulas is to make the best of both worlds. This article may be reproduced only in its entirety.

Investment newsgroup a hidden gem for investors

: I think one of the most neglected tools in investing is newsgroup. Why? Some people may believe that there are more gossips than useful news. However, this is not always the case. Newsgroup is an online group of people who intend to share their common interest and opinions on the internet. You can post all sorts of questions, crazy ideas, rebuttals, theories, rumours, and others that are related to a particular topic and let the others to respond to your posting or questions. Let’s say if you have a question about a recent stock movement of Apple’s shares, you may find dozens of second opinions on whether this is a good time to get into the market or throw off what you have in hands. I know that many people love to join big established investment databases or to subscribe to investment newsletters such as the Wall Street Journal and the Investor’s Business Daily. However, those services are paid (ranging from $20 to $30 per month). Given the fact that most newsgroups are free to join, I think newsgroup can be a valuable supplement to the main dish. Investors in newsgroup may come from all over the world. Indeed, this is a huge community containing a rich amount of info and opinions. I do not deny that the quality of information can range from zero to ten. This is because some of them are investor geeks, whereas some of them are just average Joes. Please bear in mind that most of the newsgroups are free to join. You don’t need to pay a single dime! I think the most significant factor why an investor should join an investment newsgroup is to get some info that you may have overlooked. For example, you may get a piece of info about insider trading from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), but you may not know how to interpret what the implication is upon a particular stock, not to mention how much data you have to sort through the SEC database. At times, you may just throw a question or a comment to a newsgroup about what you have found from the SEC, and you may get a lot of surprises from what other investors say. Next, where to you find some of the best newsgroups for your investment info? I will give a brief review of some of the most common newsgroups as below:- Google Groups (Beta) This is another good place you can pop in to hear some good voices. Since this is a beta program of Google product, the numbers of newsgroups are much lesser than those of Yahoo. There are about 970 newsgroups about investing at the time of this writing. However, I find that the way Google categorizes the investing groups are unsatisfactory. This is because at times you may find some unrelated groups within the broad topic, investment. Again, this is a free service. No fees. No cost. Nada. Yahoo! Groups At the time of this writing, there are 17,400 groups specifically about investment ranging from currency, futures, options, short selling, retirement planning, day trading, mutual fund, IPO, online investing, stock pick to value investing. You can create your own group as well. The best thing is that the registration is free!. After signing in, you may locate a specific group to join. On the front page of Yahoo! Groups, you can browse the Groups directory or search for a group by topic. Then click on the "Join This Group" button on front page of any group. That's simple! Giganews This is one of the top paid services that provides a number of cool features in newsgroup service. They claim themselves as having the world's longest newsgroup binary retention of 70 days and text retention of 1020 days. Of course, for a paid service they provide 24/7 email support on all accounts. At times good retention does not mean that you will not lose an article or message. However, in terms of speed and completion, they claim that they can offer more than 99% completion in terms of avoiding missing articles. You have to bear in mind that uploads are unlimited but downloads are limited to the package you choose. In terms of pricing, they offer different options ranging from $7.99 for 2GB downloads per month to $24.99 for unlimited downloads.

Investment scandals scams what s next

We humans are as creative on the "Dark Side" of commercial activity as we are in developing beneficial new products and services. In the face of huge financial benefits, however, some corporate executives can't resist taking an extra dessert even before their shareholders have finished dinner. Some scandals have more of an impact on investors than others, and most produce unwarranted layers of government regulation and control that stifle honest creativity. Plain vanilla fraud and theft are less worrisome to me than situations where the general acceptance of misinformation or "business as usual" practices allows inherently bad product ideas and blatant mismanagement to become accepted by regulatory authorities, financial professionals, and myopically gullible consumers. Here are some candidates for future "Blockbuster Scandal Awards" (B S Awards, if you will): Variable Life Insurance & Annuities, Wrap Fee Managed Investment Accounts, Portfolio Window Dressing, Asset Allocation Mutual Funds, and Obscene Executive Compensation. 1) Variable Insurance and Annuities: Variable products are a relatively new thing in the insurance industry, circa 1980 or so. Before that, the conventional wisdom labeled the Shock Market much too risky for Life Insurance Policy and Annuity Contract guaranteed benefits. In fact, these benefits had been "guaranteed" for so long that it became a generic expectation of anyone in the market for either. So why did the State Insurance departments cave in to the Variable Product lobby? And what is not emphasized as these products are marketed to potential insureds and annuitants? As if the 8% sales commission on Straight Life Annuities wasn't enough, the addition of Mutual Fund bonuses made the Variable Annuity irresistible... to financial professionals. Similarly, this product is so lucrative for the companies that they manipulate their rates to become more competitive. Since the introduction of variable benefits, there have been more insurance company failures and scandals, and not just a few disappointed recipients of reduced annuity payments. What's in your retirement plan? 2)Wrap Fee Investment Accounts: From the very beginnings of wealth, the very wealthy employed Investment Managers to protect and to grow their portfolios. Most Investment Managers had just a few huge clients that they tended to while the rest of the fledging financial industry focused on property protection and estate creation through life insurance. Most of today's (salaried) Investment Managers are employed by Financial Institutions to supervise thousands of Mutual Funds for millions of investors of all financial shapes and sizes. There are more Equity Mutual Funds than there are individual Equities on the New York Stock Exchange. Most investors today will employ many Investment Managers and never actually speak to any of them. Enter the personally managed investment portfolio product offered by most major Financial Institutions. For a single fee, you receive the personal services of a professional Investment Manager, and a portfolio specifically designed for you. Except, of course, that you get neither. You get precisely the same portfolio as everybody else, and all at once regardless of price... a Mutual Fund with individual statements. But of course, you can speak to the manager any time you like, change your asset allocation, set aside a reserve for an upcoming expenditure, etc. Yeah, sure you can! Note that "Flat Fee" managed accounts are quite different and may actually be separately and personally managed. 3)Portfolio Window Dressing: Every quarter, every year, we hear about the adjustments that portfolio managers are making as they attempt to look smart to their largest clients. Now in a discipline (Investing) that they all officially recognize as a long-term commitment to some specific strategy or plan, why do the Masters of the Universe spend so much time manipulating their short-term performance numbers? And why is this considered business as usual instead of common fraud? 4)Asset Allocation Mutual Funds: I look at Asset Allocation a bit differently than most professionals seem to and I regulate and monitor a portfolio's structure using the cost basis of securities rather than their Market Value. But how, logically, can a one-size-fits-all Mutual Fund be the right mix for all investors? Here's a definition found on the Internet: "A mutual fund that rotates among stocks, bonds, and money market securities to maximize return on investment and minimize risk". And a definition of Asset Allocation from a similar source: "The practice of distributing a certain percentage of a portfolio between different types of investment assets, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, cash, real estate, options, etc. By diversifying an individual's asset base, one hopes to create a favorable risk/reward ratio for a portfolio". In reality, Asset Allocation is a structure-planning tool that determines what percentage of an Investment Portfolio is to be invested for Growth in Equity securities and what percentage is to be invested for income production. The proper allocation is a function of the investor's age, marital status, financial position, employment status, retirement plans, expenditure needs, risk tolerance, family responsibilities, etc. Diversification occurs within the two (just two) asset classes. One size fits all... who's kidding whom? 5) Corporate Executive Compensation: I strongly believe that everyone has the right to become filthy rich, legally of course. I respect anyone who gets there honestly because their success creates jobs, opportunities, wealth, and a higher standard of living for everyone. But, once they sell shares of their successful enterprises to the public, they have a responsibility to share future profits and growth. Obscene executive suite compensation (right down to the chauffeured limousines) is simply stealing from shareholders. With every new Scandal, a voracious Media and a hypocritical Congress exacerbate the fear of shocked investors and call for more regulation of the very entities whose success, freedom, viability, and competitiveness they should be nurturing. Ironically, politicians are always the most outspoken critics... probably because of their familiarity with cover-ups and improprieties. But no one ever questions the integrity of the Financial Institutions that invent, produce, price, and promote products and services that do far more long-term harm than the few (albeit serious and sensational) incidents of corporate wrong doing. Four of the five candidates for this year's Blockbuster Scandal (B S) Award were created on Wall Street. The fifth is ignored by it. Which one bothers you most?

    Investment series investor versus trader

Many people have mixed up the terms “ Investor ” and “ Trader ” to mean the same thing. They can’t be more wrong. It is exactly the mixing up of these 2 very important terms that led to many people starting on the wrong foot in the capital markets. An Investor is a person who puts his money where it can potentially generate a return. He does not usually get involved in the money making process. Investors include buyers of investment real estate and buyers of funds. A Trader is a person who fights in the capital markets front line personally in order to generate equity. He is the one who personally chooses the investment instrument (e. g option trading), makes an opinion on it and executes a series of trades in order to make money out of it. Too many people have mixed being a trader for being an investor. This has led to a lot of misunderstanding. The misunderstanding comes from the wide spread teaching that anyone can choose to break out of the “rat race” by choosing to be an investor rather than a worker. That person then turns to exploring option trading or forex or such instruments “as an investor” and completely finds that not everyone can excel in those areas. While it is true that anyone can be an investor by putting your money in a well diversified portfolio, not everyone can be a successful trader. Active trading requires far more skill and finesse to master and to make consistent money for income replacement. This is especially true when a lot of the strategies that are available today are highly subjective. However, only by being a trader will anyone be able to generate the legendary returns that they yearn so much. And being a trader is exactly the hardest to do unless you have a proven system to follow or someone to mentor you. Therefore, before you take the plunge into the capital markets, make sure you know what you are really into. If you have decided to become a trader, make sure you keep your full time job while you look for a proven system to learn. A proven system is something like the Star Trading System which I have followed with great success for years.

Investment war will make you a millionaire

The battle between investment activity in the internet and real world became enough tangible. I decided to broaden the subject and tell the beginners (making professionals thinking) about the differences and vice versa similarities between investment activity in the Internet and real world. Simplicity. Effectiveness. Security. Perspective. Opportunities. That`s how we can outline the circle of the points, where the difference between two various investment worlds lies. In fact, investor, willing to deposit money, meets much more questions of the individual character. However, if there`s a difference in some general question, there can`t be any consent in particular ones... so, let`s think, is it worth doing e-business, maybe it`s better to go back to the real life? The first thing, attracting every investor, willing to make e-money - is simplicity. On any count, the easiest way to buy, sell something etc., not going out of the house is via Internet. To be exact, Internet in particular gives such an opportunity (well, phone as well). So, there is simplicity. Here is Your money on the monitor - do anything You want. Of course, You can grow fat, but... these are personal problems. The same with investments. If You used Your money right, You can multiple them, not going out of the house as well. Here is the question: is the tale real? And we are ready to answer with confidence: yes, it`s real! But there is just one snag to it. You will have to pay for the simplicity of using the funds and getting income in risk. Risk - that`s the thing, scaring away many "loafers" and risk in particular is disadvantage of any Internet activity. Whatever You start to do, You can get into trouble. Unfortunately. Otherwise, why would we need to do anything, going out of the house? We can suppose that lack of security is that very "damper", keeping the market from epidemic "attack" of anyone who feels like it. Besides, the market itself is ambiguous in a way. There are very profitable and not very profitable investment tools. Not very profitable - opening bank deposit via the portal of this bank. And very profitable - HYIP. And there`s a risk here. You can find many HYIP on theHYIPs. net It appears because it`s impossible to earn such interests without risking everything. You risk everything to get everything. That`s why HYIP often shoots blank, then smb. looses money. Yes, of course, there are HYIPs in the real world as well, but they need technologies much more complex, and that`s the reason why Internet is the most suitable and fruitful sphere for "risky investment" development. That`s why in particular, major part of our articles is about how to secure oneself technically and how to become more experienced, communicating with investors themselves. :) Though, it`s not all, of course. You can use Your funds at Your own discretion, without giving them to anybodies` hands. In the real life, giving money to anybodies` hands, You may earn about 20% per year, though You won`t be so nervous. There`s a gradation in the real life from 10% to 20% hence - the risk is increasing. More risk - is criminally. In the life of e-investor there are two gradations. Either there`s much risk and money, or own work. Although, we don`t dispute about the fact that there are also low-yield investment programs. However, what`s the sense, if one can go to the bank twice a year to obtain the notorious security. Let`s talk about using the funds with one's own hand. Any possible means, available in the real world, are open for You in the Internet. There are some differences. First, anyone can use them. Second - anywhere, anytime, in any way. So that to exchange USD for e-gold You need nothing more than an e-gold account. These are also direct investments. Gold is increasing - the funds are increasing as well. And we are not even speaking about FOREX market and buying securities. There`s nothing easier. Excluding some moments - see above. :) Now, let`s talk about perspectives and opportunities. First of all, You don`t have to be a prophet to say that Internet is future and working with investments on-line - is just a future lessons teaching. Moreover, now there are much more opportunities on-line that in the real life. Roughly speaking, even a child can go in for investment activity, in case of having enough willing and knowledge. Now we need only to eliminate the defects, we were talking about and such form of earnings will not just compete, it will be more attractive than investment in the real world! Well then, we are waiting. On the whole, summing up, we can say the following. If You want a stable, reliable income, You can put Your money to a bank. If You want more income - give it to people, knowing about the trades on securities` market and things like that. If not - Internet is for You. Besides, it gives convenience to handle the funds. If You are overbold - You can work on the exchange. However, Internet and nothing more is convenient here. There`s no need to go to an exchange, everything is reliable and easy enough. And, it`s even more convenient to buy or to sell something on-line.

Prudence and a bit of luck can help investments grow quickly. There are a variety of investment opportunities available, and every day new ones keep popping up. There are certain basic principles which one can adhere to while making an investment decision. It doesn't matter whether the investment is big or small; one must get complete information about the area where one wants to invest. Investments serve different purposes for different persons in different circumstances. For some, it provides security for the future, while for others it is a financial instrument to earn good returns in short term. Generally, people invest in mutual funds, stocks, government and other securities, real estate and several other assets. A good investment portfolio has a mix of highly liquid and less liquid assets. It is also a mix of short-term and long-term investments. There are companies and professionals which can advise you in terms of making investment decisions. There are also companies which are ready to make investments on your behalf. Some of them ensure a minimum rate of returns, while others do not. Before making an investment in any such company, be sure about its credentials. If one doesn't want to hire a company one can make investments individually also. But if you are a new investor avoid putting all your eggs in one basket. Make diversified investments instead. After some time, when you start getting the returns, you would be able to decide about the kind of investment portfolio you will be comfortable with. If you are looking for long-term investments, it is always better to buy in a bear market, and sell in a bull market. Short-term securities or equity investments in the secondary market are more suited for short-term investments.

Investments and how to find them

: There are risks involved in all investing. The skill of investing is knowing which risks are worth taking, and which should be avoided. Finding and knowing which risks to take is the essence of good investing and the whole reason that investments can pay such a high reward. It cannot be done without careful research and analysis. You must give yourself every chance to make the right decision. Investing without carrying out sufficient research is like playing roulette. You are giving yourself virtually no chance of covering your investments and avoiding disaster. There are certain steps you will have to take in order to give yourself a fighting chance of being a successful investor. If you are considering investing in company shares on the stock market, then you should be aware that all publicly traded companies must provide investors and potential investors with access to company financial data. This data is generally available from the company so if you are considering buying into a company, then get access to this information and satisfy yourself that the company is in a good financial state before parting with any money. Be Aware If you do research a company, and are taking a look at its financial position, then you should look back two to three years into the past. You probably don’t need to go back further than this but if you go back less, there may be important trends in the finances that you will miss. Take special note of the quarterly statements and the revenue and earnings per share. You should be trying to identify trends in certain figures. While these are no guarantee of what might happen In the future it is undeniable that an upward trend in revenue and profits will be a positive sign to look out for. Once you have satisfied yourself with the basic financials of the company and that the prospects of making good profits into the future are favourable you will be in a position to consider putting money into the share. There is an ongoing debate over whether it’s preferable to buy shares that will increase in value, or shares that pay good dividends and the answer to this question must always lie with the individual investor. What must be remembered however is that there is little point in chasing dividends. This refers to the practice of buying a share just before a dividend is expected to be announced. The price of the share will already have taken the dividend into account so you will be paying for it in any case.

    Investments guide

Investment requires prudence. Whether the amount is small or big, you need to have complete information about the place or field where you are going to invest it. Investment is most often made with a purpose to accrue good returns in future. Investment is like a source of income where initially you put in some capital and expect it to multiply or boom in the near future. There are various types of investments nowadays and different strategies are associated with them. Investment can be in the field of property, land etc., in the stock market, in bank in the form of fixed deposits, in trusts and insurance policies. • When you move out to invest say for instance in property, the strategy of buy for low and sale for high prevails. In the language of investment this is called the ‘arbitrage’. What you require first of all is a perfect idea of the fluctuating market. When the market value is low, make as many purchases as possible. When the market as you assessed picks up pace, sell whatever you purchased at simply double the price. This profit however is not possible without a vigilant study of the market. An investor who has scrutinized the market from top to bottom predicts the highs and lows of market and makes purchases much before the onset of the profit season. Arbitrageurs are very smart nowadays. In order to incur huge benefits, they even go about purchasing some very archaic piece of furniture or property from a low price market, invest a few more bucks in its renovation and then sell it in an expensive market or put it up at auction on the internet. There are times when massive investments are being made in one area, this is known as the ‘market bubble’. Take for example, if a piece of land in a specific area is inviting too many buyers and that too with unbeatable profit, there is a horde of investors to purchase land in that area and sell it for the maximum possible. Similar is the case with the stocks of a company that is giving brilliant dividends to its stock holders, if the company lowers even a single dollar on its stock, multitude of people gratify their desire to receive excellent gains later. • Related to this is the ‘value investment’. Here the investor estimates the value of the company in the form of its returns. If a company has a good record with its shareholders and its shares are relatively at a lower price in the market, the investor will purchase maximum shares as possible since he is confident of the company’s value. The investors basically peep through what is visible in this case. Many companies only flaunt to be successful in the market but actually they have been charged with many illicit proceedings. While there are companies that make a slow and simple start and scale new heights gradually. The investors are in search of these types of companies, the ones that are not feigning to be great. An insight into the actual situation of the company prompts the investor to make judicious investments. • The risk factor is always lurking behind these investments. It could be a case that the buy low and sell high strategy does not work, that the market does not soar high as forecasted. In this case huge losses can meet your investments. It can also be a possibility that the stocks of the company that is deemed to be performing well, do not meet the expected surge in price or that the company rather than progressing starts retreating. So, the risks cannot be ignored at any cost and it is also a fact that the long term predictions about the market, company etc. might turn out to be true, short term ups and downs are reasonably difficult to foretell. So the financial advisors mostly speak the lingo of long term investments so as to ignore the short term impediments. • It is advised to take guidance from a good financial advisor before making any investment. For a colossal loss in investment is potent enough to ruin the entire life of the investor.
