    Roseanne dvd review

Nominated for 25 Emmys and 14 Golden Globes, including three for Best TV Series - Comedy/Musical, Roseanne forever transformed the television landscape when it premiered in the Fall of 1988. Following on the heels of the upstart Fox network's 1987 sitcom Married With Children (which Fox created with Roseanne and Sam Kinneson in mind), Roseanne took the traditional TV portrayal of a functional and happy American family and literally turned it on its head. The brainchild of Matt Williams, creator of Home Improvement (1991) and writer for such hit series as The Cosby Show (1984) and A Different World (1987), Roseanne broke the mold of the traditional sitcom family and replaced it with the quintessential ideal of dysfunction. Attempting to portray a more realistic version of the American nuclear family, Roseanne instantly struck a chord with television audiences, and the series skyrocketed up the ratings - remaining a regular in the Nielsen Top 10 for the first seven of its ten seasons… Roseanne follows the lives a lower middle-class family living in a small Illinois town. The very definition of dysfunction, the Conner family is headed by quasi-trailer trash couple Dan (John Goodman) and Roseanne (Roseanne Barr). As Dan and Roseanne live out their less-than-ideal (yet loving) marriage, they struggle to deal with a host of problems such as lack of money, bad family relationships, and conflicts with friends and neighbors. Along the way, they deal with the typical growing pains that accompany the adolescent growth of their three children - Becky (Alicia Goranson, later replaced by Sarah Chalke of Scrubs fame), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), and D. J. (Michael Fishman). Roseanne's younger sister, Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), is also a regular on the show, and she provides added comic relief as she struggles to balance her myriad career choices with her search for the right man… The early years of Roseanne are sitcom entertainment at its best, and the writers and cast alike, issue superb performances. However, the show probably lasted a season or two longer than it should have, which is sad. It's like watching an old sports hero play just a few seasons past his prime… The Roseanne DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the series premiere "Life and Stuff" in which television viewers are first introduced to the Conner clan. Roseanne must meet with Darlene's teacher in order to discuss a problem of grave concern - Darlene's incessant barking in the middle of class… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Dan's Birthday Bash" in which Dan's ideal night out is thwarted by a thug who picks a fight with Dan while he's playing pool, and "The Slice of Life" in which Roseanne must deal with her guilt in having yelled at Darlene after Darlene is rushed into emergency surgery for appendicitis… Below is a list of episodes included on the Roseanne (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Life and Stuff) Air Date: 10-18-1988 Episode 2 (We're in the Money) Air Date: 10-25-1988 Episode 3 (D-I-V-O-R-C-E) Air Date: 11-01-1988 Episode 4 (Language Lessons) Air Date: 11-22-1988 Episode 5 (Radio Days) Air Date: 11-29-1988 Episode 6 (Lovers' Lanes) Air Date: 12-06-1988 Episode 7 (The Memory Game) Air Date: 12-13-1988 Episode 8 (Here's to Good Friends) Air Date: 12-20-1988 Episode 9 (Dan's Birthday Bash) Air Date: 01-03-1989 Episode 10 (Saturday) Air Date: 01-10-1989 Episode 11 (Canoga Time) Air Date: 01-17-1989 Episode 12 (The Monday Through Friday Show) Air Date: 01-24-1989 Episode 13 (Bridge Over Troubled Sonny) Air Date: 01-31-1989 Episode 14 (Father's Day) Air Date: 02-07-1989 Episode 15 (Nightmare on Oak Street) Air Date: 02-14-1989 Episode 16 (Mall Story) Air Date: 02-21-1989 Episode 17 (Becky's Choice) Air Date: 02-28-1989 Episode 18 (The Slice of Life) Air Date: 03-07-1989 Episode 19 (Workin' Overtime) Air Date: 03-14-1989 Episode 20 (Toto, We're Not in Kansas Anymore) Air Date: 03-28-1989 Episode 21 (Death and Stuff) Air Date: 04-11-1989 Episode 22 (Dear Mom and Dad) Air Date: 04-18-1989 Episode 23 (Let's Call It Quits) Air Date: 05-02-1989

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer dvd review

One of a plethora of animated Christmas classics created in the 1960's - A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) come to mind - this rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is unique in that it uses stop-motion animation instead of cartoons to tell its story. Voiced by Burl Ives, Sam the Snowman brilliantly narrates the tale of an awkward reindeer and his firsthand struggle with discrimination. Along the way, Ives sings a number of holiday classics such as “Silver and Gold,” “Holly Jolly Christmas,” and of course, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. Our story begins when Rudolph’s father, Donner, tries to cover up his newborn son’s shiny, bright red nose with a disguise. When Rudolph attends a flight training school for young reindeer, he encounters Clarice, a young doe who thinks that Rudolph is cute. This revelation causes Rudolph to leap into the air and fly around the sky like a seasoned aviator. But when he lands, the false nose falls off and Rudolph’s red honker is exposed to the scorn and ridicule of young bucks everywhere. Clarice is the only one who doesn’t condemn Rudolph as a freak, but her father soon forbids her to congregate with such a “monster”. Following this episode, Rudolph runs away only to meet up with an outcast Elf named Hermey who has committed the unforgivable sin of not wanting to make toys. Contrary to the social conventions of his time, Hermey wants to be a dentist. Rudolph and Hermey decide they will run away together. But in due time, they encounter the dangerous Abominable Snow Monster, a giant hairy beast who crushes anyone who leaves Christmastown. Aiding in their rescue is Yukon Cornelius, a burly prospector who chops off a piece of ice with his pick ax, allowing Rudolph, Hermey, and himself to float away from the Abominable Snow Monster (who can’t swim). After floating through the night, the three characters discover The Land of Misfit Toys – an island of handicapped, screwed-up toys rejected by elf quality-control managers and forced to live away their best years in an icy wasteland. Our three heroes can relate to the misfit toys, and Rudolph promises to inform Santa of their status the next time he sees him. But in order to reach Santa, Rudolph, Hermey, and Yukon Cornelius must first facedown the Abominable Snow Monster. Can they get past the angry monster? And if so, can they get to Santa in time for his Christmas deliveries? Will the weather put a halt to Santa’s Christmas plans? This breakthrough Claymation classic is essential for any child’s Christmas experience (and that of adults who grew up watching the much-anticipated holiday special on TV). That’s why this ranks as a definite “must-see” by any standard. But undoubtedly, we all owe a special thanks to J. C. Penny, the giant retail chain that created Rudolph as part of a promotional gimmick one fabled Christmas season many decades ago. Because it just wouldn’t be Christmas without Rudolph…

    Sanford and son dvd review

Nominated for six Golden Globes and seven Emmys, including Outstanding Series - Comedy, Sanford And Son became one of the first shows in television history to be almost entirely centered around African-American characters. Modeled after the British TV show Steptoe And Son, the series showcased the underappreciated talents of comic genius Redd Foxx (whose skin color and bad language prevented him from becoming a superstar decades earlier). The brainchild of All In The Family creator Norman Lear, Sanford And Son signaled the beginning of a decade of sitcom classics for the prolific 1970's TV writer - Maude (1972), Good Times (1974), and The Jeffersons (1975) being the others. Wrought with memorable one-liners and well-timed humor, Sanford And Son was a Top 10 Nielsen rated show every year in which it aired except for its final season (ranking a respectable #27)… Sanford And Son, set in the Watts district of Los Angeles, follows the life of Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx), a 65-year-old African-American junk dealer who shares his business with his 34-year-old son Lamont (Demond Wilson). With Fred's wife Elizabeth having passed away twenty years earlier, he often evokes Lamont's sympathy by clutching his heart and proclaiming, "Oh, I'm coming to join you Elizabeth!" But Fred always survives those near fatal heart attacks, continuing to disperse sarcastic putdowns (often directed at his sister-in-law Esther) and racist stereotypical remarks aimed against whites and Hispanics (especially Lamont's friend Julio). Using guilt to manipulate his ambitious son into staying and helping run the salvage shop instead of pursuing other endeavors, Fred Sanford spends most of his days lounging around the house (his junk store and home are one and the same) and hanging out with his friends - Grady, Melvin, and Bubba… Well-written and hilarious, Sanford & Son is comedian Redd Foxx at his absolute best… The Sanford And Son DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the series premiere "Crossed Swords" in which Lamont purchases a collectible porcelain figure from a silent movie star for $15. When he and Fred get the statuette appraised, they determine that they can fetch a bundle for it if they put it up for auction, but while at the auction, the two decide to pose as buyers to bid up the price, a decision that ends up costing them… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "The Copper Caper" in which Fred and Lamont purchase their own copper from a man who's been stealing the metal all across town, and "A Pad for Lamont" in which Lamont decides to move into his own apartment for privacy reasons. At first, Fred is upset - until he learns he enjoys having some time to himself… Below is a list of episodes included on the Sanford And Son (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Crossed Swords) Air Date: 01-14-1972 Episode 2 (Happy Birthday, Pop) Air Date: 01-21-1972 Episode 3 (Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Bride) Air Date: 01-28-1972 Episode 4 (The Copper Caper) Air Date: 02-04-1972 Episode 5 (A Matter of Life and Breath) Air Date: 02-11-1972 Episode 6 (We Were Robbed) Air Date: 02-18-1972 Episode 7 (A Pad for Lamont) Air Date: 02-25-1972 Episode 8 (The Great Sanford Siege) Air Date: 03-03-1972 Episode 9 (Coffins for Sale) Air Date: 03-10-1972 Episode 10 (The Barracuda) Air Date: 03-17-1972 Episode 11 (TV or not TV) Air Date: 03-24-1972 Episode 12 (The Suitcase Case) Air Date: 03-31-1972 Episode 13 (The Return of the Barracuda) Air Date: 04-07-1972 Episode 14 (The Piano Movers) Air Date: 04-14-1972

Sanford and son season 2 dvd review

Recipient of 7 Emmy and 6 Golden Globes nominations, including a Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, Sanford And Son is one of the first television shows in history to focus almost entirely on the lives of African-American characters. With a script adapted from the British TV series Steptoe & Son, Sanford And Son highlighted the underrated talent of popular stand-up comedian Redd Foxx (prevented by segregation from becoming a superstar decades earlier). Created by Norman Lear, the brains behind such hits as All In The Family, the show signaled the emergence of a new class of sitcoms penned by the 1970s writer. His work included such notable series as Maude (1972), Good Times (1974), and The Jeffersons (1975). Peppered with stinging one-liners and hilarious antics, Sanford And Son held a Top 10 position in the Nielsen ratings every year except its final season... The Sanford & Son (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "By the Numbers" in which Fred dreams of a series of numbers. Despite Lamont's insistence in forbidding Fred to play the lottery, he believes his dream is destiny and it turns out to be so when Fred wins a $500 cash prize. Fred now finds himself a bit richer with a number of people hoping to get a piece of the action, among them - Aunt Ethel, Bubba, and a robber… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include "Tooth or Consequences" in which Fred's toothache is amplified by his refusal to visit a dentist, and "A Guest in the Yard" in which Fred and Lamont discover a homeless vagrant sleeping in their junk yard… Below is a list of episodes included on the Sanford & Son (Season 2) DVD: Episode 15 (By the Numbers) Air Date: 09-15-1972 Episode 16 (Whiplash) Air Date: 09-22-1972 Episode 17 (The Dowry) Air Date: 09-29-1972 Episode 18 (Jealousy) Air Date: 10-06-1972 Episode 19 (Tooth or Consequences) Air Date: 10-13-1972 Episode 20 (The Card Sharps) Air Date: 10-27-1972 Episode 21 (Have Gun, Will Sell) Air Date: 11-03-1972 Episode 22 (The Puerto Ricans Are Coming!) Sanford and son season 3 dvd review

Set in the Watts district of Los Angeles, Sanford And Son centers around the life of Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx), a 65-year-old African-American antiques dealer. Fred lives with, and shares the business with, his 34-year-old son Lamont (Demond Wilson). One of the first TV sitcoms to completely revolve around African-American characters, Sanford And Son showcased the comic genius of Redd Foxx with every episode. Fred Sanford's trademark fake heart attacks and sarcastic jabs made for some of the funniest TV viewing of its era. With a host of eccentric characters and nagging relatives always hanging, there's never a dull moment... The Sanford And Son (Season 3) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Lamont as Othello" in which Fred walks in on Lamont and his drama teacher acting out a choking scene from Shakespeare's Othello. Fred wrongly believes that Lamont is trying to kill a white woman, but the tables are turned when Fred and Lamont visit the teacher's house and her parents wrongly assume the Sanfords are trying to rob the place… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include "Lamont is That You?" in which Lamont and Rollo accidentally walk into a gay bar (but not until they're seen by Fred's friend Bubba, leading Fred to believe Lamont is gay), and "Fred's Cheating Heart" in which one of Fred's typical fake heart attacks lands him the hospital for observation… Below is a list of episodes included on the Sanford & Son (Season 3) DVD: Episode 39 (Lamont as Othello) Air Date: 09-14-1973 Episode 40 (Libra Rising All Over Lamont) Air Date: 09-21-1973 Episode 41 (Fred, the Reluctant Fingerman) Air Date: 09-28-1973 Episode 42 (Presenting the Three Degrees) Air Date: 10-05-1973 Episode 43 (This Little TV Went to Market) Air Date: 10-12-1973 Episode 44 (Lamont is That You?) Sanford and son season 4 dvd review

Nominated for 7 Emmys and 6 Golden Glboes, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Sanford And Son remained one of the top ten rated TV shows every season it aired with the exception of its final season (when it ranked a respectable 27th). Fred loves to hurl sarcastic comments at his sister-in-law Esther, and he often makes stereotypical and prejudice remarks toward Lamont's friend Julio. Manipulating his otherwise ambitious son into staying around to run the junk shop, Fred spends days hanging around the house (he runs a home-based business) and talking with various friends: Melvin, Grady, and Bubba… The Sanford And Son (Season 4) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Surprise Party" in which Fred returns home following an extended stay in St. Louis (i. e. contract negotiations with the network). Everyone plans a surprise party for Fred, but the celebration goes awry when Fred and Esther pick up where they left off (with their constant fighting). Meanwhile, when Fred eavesdrops on Lamont and Grady, the situation only gets worse… Other notable episodes from Season 4 include "Going Out of Business" in which an accounting error leads to Fred and Lamont owing the government more money than they have, and "The Stand-In" in which Fred and Lamont are forced to stand-in for Fred's musician friend Bowlegs when a member of his band gets injured… Below is a list of episodes included on the Sanford And Son (Season 4) DVD: Episode 63 (The Surprise Party) Air Date: 09-13-1974 Episode 64 (Matchmaker, Matchmaker) Air Date: 09-20-1974 Episode 65 (Ol' Brown Eyes) Air Date: 09-27-1974 Episode 66 (Grady and His Lady) Air Date: 10-04-1974 Episode 67 (There'll Be Some Changes Made) Air Date: 10-11-1974 Episode 68 (Going Out of Business) Air Date: 10-18-1974 Episode 69 (Home Sweet Home) Air Date: 10-25-1974 Episode 70 (My Kingdom for a Horse) Air Date: 11-01-1974 Episode 71 (Sanford and Niece) Air Date: 11-08-1974 Episode 72 (Julio and Sister and Nephew) Air Date: 11-15-1974 Episode 73 (Fred's Treasure Garden) Air Date: 11-29-1974 Episode 74 (Tower Power) Air Date: 12-06-1974 Episode 75 (A Little Extra Security) Air Date: 12-13-1974 Episode 76 (The Merger) Air Date: 12-20-1974 Episode 77 (Once a Thief) Air Date: 12-27-1974 Episode 78 (The Stand-In) Air Date: 01-17-1975 Episode 79 (Strange Bedfellows) Air Date: 01-24-1975 Episode 80 (The Masquerade Party) Air Date: 01-31-1975 Episode 81 (Golden Boy) Air Date: 02-07-1975 Episode 82 (My Brother-In-Law's Keeper) Air Date: 02-14-1975 Episode 83 (The Headache) Air Date: 02-21-1975 Episode 84 (The Stung) Air Date: 02-28-1975 Episode 85 (The Older Woman) Air Date: 03-07-1975 Episode 86 (The Over-the-Hill Gag) Air Date: 03-14-1975 Episode 87 (The Family Man) Air Date: 04-25-1975

Sanford and son season 6 dvd review

One of numerous comedies created in the 1970s by the talented Norman Lear (other hits such as All In The Family, Maude, Good Times, and The Jeffersons come to mind), Sanford And Son received 7 Emmy nominations and 6 Golden Globe nominations for its widely acclaimed humor. Based on the life of Los Angeles junkyard owner Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx) and that of his son Lamont (Demond Wilson), the series was one of the first with an entirely African-American cast. Through every episode, Fred manages to insult and offend just about every person, group, race, ideology, etc. The show was such a hit, it stayed in the Nielsen Top Ten for its entire run, excluding its final season... The Sanford & Son (Season 6) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Hawaiian Connection: Part 1" in which three jewel thieves conspire to smuggle some stolen jewels from Hawaii to Los Angeles. When Fred hops a flight to Hawaii to attend a Junkmen of America conference, the thieves plant the jewels on Fred in the hopes of using him as a dupe to carry out their nefarious plan… Other notable episodes from Season 6 include "The Winning Ticket" in which Fred becomes the victim of a con game by a pair of crooks who convince him to run a $500 raffle promotion for Sanford & Son, and "A Matter of Silence" in which Fred nearly goes deaf due to the wax buildup in his ears… Below is a list of episodes included on the Sanford & Son (Season 6) DVD: Episode 112 (The Hawaiian Connection: Part 1) Air Date: 09-24-1976 Episode 113 (The Hawaiian Connection: Part 2) Air Date: 09-24-1976 Episode 114 (The Hawaiian Connection: Part 3) Air Date: 10-01-1976 Episode 115 (California Crude) Air Date: 10-08-1976 Episode 116 (The Stakeout) Air Date: 10-15-1976 Episode 117 (I Dream of Choo Choo Rabinowitz) Air Date: 10-22-1976 Episode 118 (The Winning Ticket) Air Date: 11-05-1976 Episode 119 (Committee Man) Air Date: 11-12-1976 Episode 120 (Fred's Extra Job) Air Date: 11-19-1976 Episode 121 (Carol) Air Date: 11-26-1976 Episode 122 (Aunt Esther Has a Baby) Air Date: 12-03-1976 Episode 123 (Here Today, Gone Today) Air Date: 12-07-1976 Episode 124 (Aunt Esther Meets Her Son) Air Date: 12-10-1976 Episode 125 (Sanford and Gong) Air Date: 12-17-1976 Episode 126 (Fred Meets Redd) Air Date: 01-14-1977 Episode 127 (Chinese Torture) Air Date: 01-21-1977 Episode 128 (A Matter of Silence) Air Date: 01-28-1977 Episode 129 (When John Comes Marching Home) Air Date: 02-04-1977 Episode 130 (The Reverend Sanford) Air Date: 02-11-1977 Episode 131 (The Will) Air Date: 02-18-1977 Episode 132 (Fred the Activist) Air Date: 02-25-1977 Episode 133 (The Lucky Streak) Air Date: 03-04-1977 Episode 134 (Funny, You Don't Look It) Air Date: 03-11-1977 Episode 135 (Fred Sings the Blues) Air Date: 03-18-1977 Episode 136 (School Daze) Air Date: 03-25-1977

    Scrubs dvd review

Nominated for 9 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes, Scrubs premiered in Fall 2001 to moderate fanfare and a respectable Nielsen rating of #34. And although the series has yet to achieve blockbuster ratings, it has managed to build a loyal fan base devoted to its unique brand of humor and quirky characters. Created by Bill Lawrence (creator of Spin City), Scrubs is a spoof on the dearth of hospital dramas that have cropped up since ER popularized the genre. In a sense, it’s what Grey’s Anatomy would be like if Ben Stiller were the lead character. Filmed in a real life hospital (North Hollywood Medical Center), Scrubs follows the bungling day-to-day experiences of medical intern Dr. John “J. D.” Dorian (Zach Braff). Along with his college buddy Dr. Christopher Turk (Donald Faison), the two newcomers must learn the ropes of daily life in an actual hospital setting. But Sacred Heart, their new stomping ground, is the epitome of a dysfunctional work environment. One might easily believe that everyone’s job is to dump on J. D. In getting his feet wet, the young intern butts heads with numerous characters such as fellow intern and potential love interest Dr. Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), cranky Chief of Medicine Dr. Bob Kelso (Ken Jenkins), the ever-abrasive Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), pessimistic nurse Carla Espinosa (Judy Reyes), and a sarcastic janitor (Neil Flynn). Scrubs is a character-driven show that’s exceptionally well-written, and the acting is superb. John C. McGinley is fantastic in the role of Dr. Cox, a performance almost as memorable as his portrayal of consultant Bob Slydell in Office Space. His delivery is almost as perfect as that of Ken Jenkins who often resembles Lloyd Bridges from Airplane with his uncanny ability to deliver ridiculous one-liners with a straight face. Veteran talents Sarah Chalke (Becky from Roseanne) and Donald Faison (Murray from Clueless) round out an excellent supporting cast for Zach Braff who makes his mark with this very likeable character. In the end, Scrubs is a situation comedy built on the strength of biting sarcasm and clever humor. And although it’s already enjoyed a successful five-year run, it’s probably one of the most underappreciated comedies on network TV. If you haven’t yet seen it, do yourself a favor and check it out. You won’t be disappointed. Below is a list of episodes included on the Scrubs (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (My First Day) Air Date: 10-02-2001 Episode 2 (My Mentor) Air Date: 10-04-2001 Episode 3 (My Best Friend’s Mistake) Air Date: 10-09-2001 Episode 4 (My Old Lady) Air Date: 10-16-2001 Episode 5 (My Two Dads) Air Date: 10-23-2001 Episode 6 (My Bad) Air Date: 10-30-2001 Episode 7 (My Super Ego) Air Date: 11-06-2001 Episode 8 (My Fifteen Minutes) Air Date: 11-15-2001 Episode 9 (My Day Off) Air Date: 11-20-2001 Episode 10 (My Nickname) Air Date: 11-27-2001 Episode 11 (My Own Personal Jesus) Air Date: 12-11-2001 Episode 12 (My Blind Date) Air Date: 01-08-2002 Episode 13 (My Balancing Act) Air Date: 01-15-2002 Episode 14 (My Drug Buddy) Air Date: 01-22-2002 Episode 15 (My Bed Banter and Beyond) Air Date: 02-05-2002 Episode 16 (My Heavy Meddle) Air Date: 02-26-2002 Episode 17 (My Student) Air Date: 03-05-2002 Episode 18 (My Tuscaloosa Heart) Air Date: 03-12-2002 Episode 19 (My Old Man) Air Date: 04-09-2002 Episode 20 (My Way or the Highway) Air Date: 04-16-2002 Episode 21 (My Sacrificial Clam) Air Date: 04-30-2002 Episode 22 (My Occurrence) Air Date: 05-07-2002 Episode 23 (My Hero) Air Date: 05-14-2002 Episode 24 (My Last Day) Air Date: 05-21-2002

    Seinfeld dvd review

The preeminent show of the 1990's decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of "a show about nothing" into a sacred pop culture icon - not that there's anything wrong with that... The show follows the life of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the exploits of his “short, quirky, bald guy” best friend, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Jerry’s neurotic neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Jerry’s ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Through the years, they’re joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others… The Seinfeld DVD (Seasons 1 & 2) offers the very first glimpse into the world Jerry, beginning with The Pilot (episode 1) which was originally titled The Seinfeld Chronicles. The first scene involves Jerry commenting to George about a button on his shirt (the same conversation later takes place in the last scene of the series finale). These opening episodes provide insight into the development of the show’s four primary characters with conversations that range from George’s initial admission that he’d like to be an architect (episode 2) to Kramer’s propensity for get rich quick schemes like a make-your-own-pizza pizzeria (episode 4). From day one, Seinfeld established itself as “must see TV,” creating such memorable episodes as “The Stock Tip,” “The Pony Remark,” “The Deal,” and “The Chinese Restaurant”. Interestingly, in the pilot episode of Seinfeld, Elaine’s character does not yet exist, and Kramer’s character (not yet named Kramer, but Feldman) is more of an unemployed, pathetic, shut-in neighbor than the usual quirky and energetic Cosmo. Playing the role of the female in George and Jerry’s life is a wisecracking waitress named Claire (Lee Garlington) who never appears in later episodes. Nevertheless, this initial episode exhibits the flashes of brilliance that made Seinfeld a cultural phenomenon. The show is essentially about nothing. George and Jerry do some laundry… Jerry and his neighbor watch some TV… George and Jerry have some coffee… During that time, the dominant topic of conversation is a girl that Jerry met while taking his comedy act on the road. She’s coming to stay at his place, but he doesn’t know whether he should pull out a mattress for her or not. Feldman (Kramer), George, and Jerry debate the topic endlessly until the woman arrives and Jerry learns that it’s all irrelevant because she’s engaged… Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Seasons 1 & 2) DVD: Episode 1 (Pilot: Good News, Bad News) Air Date: 07-05-1989 Episode 2 (The Stakeout) Air Date: 05-31-1990 Episode 3 (The Robbery) Air Date: 06-07-1990 Episode 4 (Male Unbonding) Air Date: 06-14-1990 Episode 5 (The Stock Tip) Air Date: 06-21-1990 Episode 6 (The Ex-Girlfriend) Air Date: 01-23-1991 Episode 7 (The Pony Remark) Air Date: 01-30-1991 Episode 8 (The Jacket) Air Date: 02-06-1991 Episode 9 (The Phone Message) Air Date: 02-13-1991 Episode 10 (The Apartment) Air Date: 04-04-1991 Episode 11 (The Statue) Air Date: 04-11-1991 Episode 12 (The Revenge) Air Date: 04-18-1991 Episode 13 (The Heart Attack) Air Date: 04-25-1991 Episode 14 (The Deal) Air Date: 05-02-1991 Episode 15 (The Baby Shower) Air Date: 05-16-1991 Episode 16 (The Chinese Restaurant) Air Date: 05-23-1991 Episode 17 (The Busboy) Air Date: 06-26-1991

    Seinfeld season 3 dvd review

The preeminent show of the 1990's decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of "a show about nothing" into a sacred pop culture icon, not that there's anything wrong with that... Through the years, they’re joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others… The Seinfeld (Season 3) DVD offers some of the best episodes in the series, with classic lines such as “I think it moved” (episode 18) and “These pretzels are making me thirsty” (episode 28). The third season also includes the famous two part episode guest-starring Keith Hernandez (episodes 34 & 35), where Jerry explains his theory of “the second spitter” while contemplating the depth of his male relationship with Keith. Other memorable episodes include Jerry’s encounter with an overzealous library cop named Bookman (episode 22), the one where George has sex with the cleaning woman (episode 29), the famous pez dispenser show (episode 31), and an entire episode where Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine wander through the mind-numbing labyrinth of a parking garage in a feeble attempt to find their car (episode 23)… Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Season 3) DVD: Episode 18 (The Note) Air Date: 09-18-1991 Episode 19 (The Truth) Air Date: 09-25-1991 Episode 20 (The Pen) Air Date: 10-02-1991 Episode 21 (The Dog) Air Date: 10-09-1991 Episode 22 (The Library) Air Date: 10-16-1991 Episode 23 (The Parking Garage) Air Date: 10-30-1991 Episode 24 (The Cafe) Air Date: 11-06-1991 Episode 25 (The Tape) Air Date: 11-13-1991 Episode 26 (The Nose Job) Air Date: 11-20-1991 Episode 27 (The Stranded) Air Date: 11-27-1991 Episode 28 (The Alternate Side) Air Date: 12-04-1991 Episode 29 (The Red Dot) Air Date: 12-11-1991 Episode 30 (The Subway) Air Date: 01-08-1992 Episode 31 (The Pez Dispenser) Air Date: 01-15-1992 Episode 32 (The Suicide) Air Date: 01-29-1992 Episode 33 (The Fix-Up) Air Date: 02-05-1992 Episode 34 (The Boyfriend 1) Air Date: 02-12-1992 Episode 35 (The Boyfriend 2) Air Date: 02-12-1992 Episode 36 (The Limo) Air Date: 02-26-1992 Episode 37 (The Good Samaritan) Air Date: 03-04-1992 Episode 38 (The Letter) Air Date: 03-25-1992 Episode 39 (The Parking Space) Air Date: 04-04-1992 Episode 40 (The Keys) Air Date: 05-06-1992

    Seinfeld season 4 dvd review

One of the best sitcoms not just of its time, but of all time, Seinfeld redefined the sitcom genre. No longer was it necessary to have contrived plot, a lesson to be learned, or some other ridiculous cookie-cutter approach. With Seinfeld, an episode could be about nothing and everything all at the same time. The show follows the lives of four friends living in New York City, stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld, his childhood friend George Costanza (Jason Alexander), his eccentric next-door neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and his ex-girlfriend Elaine Benese (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Together, they form one of the most unforgettable comedy teams in television history. The Seinfeld (Season 4) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which Jerry asks George to accompany him on a trip to Los Angeles where he'll be appearing on The Tonight Show. While in Hollywood, the two attempt to track down Kramer who recently moved there to become a star. But the trip goes awry when hotel maid Lupe can't grasp the concept of George's preferred bed tuck, Jerry loses his Tonight Show material, and Kramer is fingered by local police as the prime suspect in the "smog strangler" killings… Other notable episodes from Season 4 include "The Bubble Boy" in which George incurs the wrath of an entire township following his argument over a Trivial Pursuit question with a local handicapped icon who (for medical reasons) lives in a bubble, and "The Contest" (based on a real life Larry David experience) in which Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine place a wager on who can practice self-denial the longest… "The Junior Mint" and "The Handicap Spot" round out a year that is arguably the best season in Seinfeld's hilarious nine-year run… Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Season 4) DVD: Episode 41 (The Trip: Part 1) Air Date: 08-12-1992 Episode 42 (The Trip: Part 2) Air Date: 08-19-1992 Episode 43 (The Pitch) Air Date: 09-16-1992 Episode 44 (The Ticket) Air Date: 09-16-1992 Episode 45 (The Wallet) Air Date: 09-23-1992 Episode 46 (The Watch) Air Date: 09-30-1992 Episode 47 (The Bubble Boy) Air Date: 10-07-1992 Episode 48 (The Cheever Letters) Air Date: 10-28-1992 Episode 49 (The Opera) Air Date: 11-04-1992 Episode 50 (The Virgin) Air Date: 11-11-1992 Episode 51 (The Contest) Air Date: 11-18-1992 Episode 52 (The Airport) Air Date: 11-25-1992 Episode 53 (The Pick) Air Date: 12-16-1992 Episode 54 (The Movie) Air Date: 01-06-1993 Episode 55 (The Visa) Air Date: 01-27-1993 Episode 56 (The Shoes) Air Date: 02-04-1993 Episode 57 (The Outing) Air Date: 02-11-1993 Episode 58 (The Old Man) Air Date: 02-18-1993 Episode 59 (The Implant) Air Date: 02-25-1993 Episode 60 (The Junior Mint) Air Date: 03-18-1993 Episode 61 (The Smelly Car) Air Date: 04-15-1993 Episode 62 (The Handicap Spot) Air Date: 05-13-1993 Episode 63 (The Pilot: Part 1) Air Date: 05-20-1993 Episode 64 (The Pilot: Part 2) Air Date: 05-20-1993

    Seinfeld season 5 dvd review

The preeminent show of the 1990's decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of "a show about nothing" into a sacred pop culture icon, not that there's anything wrong with that... The show follows the life of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the exploits of his "short, quirky, bald guy" best friend, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Jerry's neurotic neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Jerry's ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Through the years, they're joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others… Following on the heels of Season 4, arguably the best season ever (with famous episodes such as The Bubble Boy, The Contest, The Pick, The Junior Mint, The Handicap Spot, and The Pilot), Season 5 offers its own case for Seinfeld immortality with episodes like The Puffy Shirt (a. k.a. The Pirate Shirt), The Stall (can you spare a square?), The Marine Biologist (or is it The Architect?), The Hamptons (there was significant shrinkage!), and The Opposite (George's newfound religion)... The Seinfeld (Season 5) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Mango" in which Jerry discovers that Elaine "faked it" during the time they went out. Determined to redeem himself, he begs Elaine for another shot. Meanwhile, Kramer gets banned from his favorite fruit vendor when he attempts to return a bad peach… Other notable episodes from Season 5 include "The Hamptons" in which Jerry's girlfriend accidentally sees George naked following his swim in a cold pool (which caused him to shrink like "a frightened turtle"), and "The Opposite" in which George decides that every decision he's ever made in life was the wrong one, and from now on, he'll do the exact opposite of what his instincts tell him to do… Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Season 5) DVD: Episode 65 (The Mango) Air Date: 09-16-1993 Episode 66 (The Puffy Shirt) Air Date: 09-23-1993 Episode 67 (The Glasses) Air Date: 09-30-1993 Episode 68 (The Sniffing Accountant) Air Date: 10-07-1993 Episode 69 (The Bris) Air Date: 10-14-1993 Episode 70 (The Lip Reader) Air Date: 10-28-1993 Episode 71 (The Non-Fat Yogurt) Air Date: 11-04-1993 Episode 72 (The Barber) Air Date: 11-11-1993 Episode 73 (The Masseuse) Air Date: 11-18-1993 Episode 74 (The Cigar Store Indian) Air Date: 12-09-1993 Episode 75 (The Conversion) Air Date: 12-16-1993 Episode 76 (The Stall) Air Date: 01-06-1994 Episode 77 (The Dinner Party) Air Date: 02-03-1994 Episode 78 (The Marine Biologist) Air Date: 02-10-1994 Episode 79 (The Pie) Air Date: 02-17-1994 Episode 80 (The Stand-In) Air Date: 02-24-1994 Episode 81 (The Wife) Air Date: 03-17-1994 Episode 82 (The Raincoats: Part 1) Air Date: 04-28-1994 Episode 83 (The Raincoats: Part 2) Air Date: 04-28-1994 Episode 84 (The Fire) Air Date: 05-05-1994 Episode 85 (The Hamptons) Air Date: 05-12-1994 Episode 86 (The Opposite) Air Date: 05-19-1994

    Seinfeld season 6 dvd review

The #1 television show for most of the mid-1990s decade, Seinfeld is a brilliantly conceived idea for a comedy series which redefinied the TV sitcom as we know it. Almost every series since has borrowed bits and pieces of its "nothing theme" in order to entertain rather than attempt to teach at the same time. Centered around the world of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, the show follows the exploits of Jerry and his various friends, who include such notable personalities as George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). They’re joined by a memorable cast of strange and oddball characters that includes Mulva, Newman, J. Peterman, Uncle Leo, the Close Talker, the Low Talker, the Soup Nazi, Jack Klaumpus, David Putty, Apu, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and assorted others… The Seinfeld (Season 6) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “The Chaperone” in which Jerry gets a date with a Miss America contestant. However, the catch is he needs a chaperone. Kramer agrees to be the chaperone, but his and Jerry’s involvement end up ruining her act… Other notable episodes from Season 6 include “The Big Salad” in which George confronts his girlfriend over her taking credit for getting Elaine the big salad that he purchased, and “The Face Painter” in which Elaine is embarrassed when her boyfriend, David Puddy, paints his face crimson red for a New Jersey Devils game… Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Season 6) DVD: Episode 87 (The Chaperone) Air Date: 09-22-1994 Episode 88 (The Big Salad) Air Date: 09-29-1994 Episode 89 (The Pledge Drive) Air Date: 10-06-1994 Episode 90 (The Chinese Woman) Air Date: 10-13-1994 Episode 91 (The Couch) Air Date: 10-27-1994 Episode 92 (The Gymnast) Air Date: 11-03-1994 Episode 93 (The Soup) Air Date: 11-10-1994 Episode 94 (The Mom & Pop Store) Air Date: 11-17-1994 Episode 95 (The Secretary) Air Date: 12-08-1994 Episode 96 (The Race) Air Date: 12-15-1994 Episode 97 (The Switch) Air Date: 01-05-1995 Episode 98 (The Label Maker) Air Date: 01-19-1995 Episode 99 (The Scofflaw) Air Date: 01-26-1995 Episode 100 (Highlights of a Hundred: Part 1) Air Date: 02-02-1995 Episode 101 (Highlights of a Hundred: Part 2) Air Date: 02-02-1995 Episode 102 (The Beard) Air Date: 02-09-1995 Episode 103 (The Kiss Hello) Air Date: 02-16-1995 Episode 104 (The Doorman) Air Date: 02-23-1995 Episode 105 (The Jimmy) Air Date: 03-16-1995 Episode 106 (The Doodle) Air Date: 04-06-1995 Episode 107 (The Fusilli Jerry) Air Date: 04-27-1995 Episode 108 (The Diplomat’s Club) Air Date: 05-04-1995 Episode 109 (The Face Painter) Air Date: 05-11-1995 Episode 110 (The Understudy) Air Date: 05-18-1995

    Seinfeld season 7 dvd

The show that literally redefined the sitcom genre, Seinfeld evolved from an idea of “a show about nothing” into a sacred pop culture icon. The show follows the life and times of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his best friends, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Living lives of complete selfishness (which is why most of us relate so well to the show), they’re joined by an extensive cast of eccentric supporting characters such as Newman, Uncle Leo, J. Peterman, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, and countless others. The Seinfeld (Season 7) DVD features some of most hilarious episodes in the series including the season premiere “The Engagement” in which Jerry and George agree that their lives are utterly pathetic, prompting them to make a pact to settle down. Reinvigorated by life, George proposes to his ex-girlfriend Susan, but is soon enraged when he discovers Jerry has broken up with his latest girlfriend. As a result, George spends the remainder of Season 7 trying to concoct the perfect scheme for breaking up with Susan. Another notable episode is “The Soup Nazi,” an episode based on a real life soup counter in New York City. One of most quoted Seinfeld shows in history, the Soup Nazi character and his “No soup for you!” tagline instantly became part of the American vernacular. “The Rye,” where George and Jerry make a feeble attempt to replace a marble rye stolen by George’s parents actually spawned an Internet video game, and “The Cadillac” features Morty Seinfeld and arch-nemesis Jack Klompus at their very best. Throw in Newman and Kramer’s Michigan recycling plan and a season finale cliffhanger that ranks among the best in series history, and Season 7 of Seinfeld is guaranteed to entertain anyone who loves comedy!
