    South park dvd review

Premiering in the late summer of 1997, South Park took American pop culture by storm with its no-holds-barred examination of social and political issues and its lewd yet unique brand of cartoon humor. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park is the lynchpin of cable network Comedy Central's original programming lineup. Centered around the lives of several kids in the small Colorado town of South Park (a place prone to odd and paranormal occurrences), the series presents itself in the form of crude animated drawings, yet the concept works, playing home to innumerable well-written shows filled with boundless wit, well-timed one-liners, and an endless array of politically-incorrect humor. Love it or hate it, South Park is a truly original animated series with relentlessly off-the-wall plot twists and comic relief. If you love oddball humor, then this is the show for you… South Park mostly follows the exploits of four elementary school kids - Cartman (who's overweight and sarcastic), Kyle (who dreams of eliminating his little brother Ike), Stan (who throws up at the sight of a girl he likes), and Kenny (who manages to get killed in every episode). All four attend South Park Elementary School where third grade teacher Mr. Garrison educates them with the use of a hand-puppet named "Mr. Hat" and cafeteria employee "Chef" McElroy (Isaac Hayes) dispenses his advice while periodically breaking into 70's love songs about making love to women. South Park is the setting for numerous oddities such as alien visitors, a monster with a hand of celery and the leg of Patrick Duffy, and Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride. South Park also hosts a number famous people from time to time, such as the Devil, Saddam Hussein, the Antichrist, Kathy Lee Gifford, Scott Baio, Tina Yothers, Elton John, and Jesus Christ - who has his own cable access show… The South Park DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" in which Kyle tries to rid himself of his baby brother Ike by playing a game of "kick the baby" at the bus stop. Meanwhile, Cartman reveals to his friends that he had a nightmare in which he was abducted by aliens, leading Stan, Kyle, and Chef to the conclusion that aliens inserted an anal probe in Cartman. As cows are mutilated in South Park, Cartman continues to live in denial of the alien machine residing in his anus… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig" in which Kyle's science project to cross-breed an elephant with a pig is made possible when Chef and Elton John create the necessary atmosphere for proper loving-making, and "Pink Eye" in which Kenny dies early in the episode but is turned into a zombie by accident… Below is a list of episodes included on the South Park (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Cartman Gets an Anal Probe) Air Date: 08-13-1997 Episode 2 (Volcano) Air Date: 08-20-1997 Episode 3 (Weight Gain 4000) Air Date: 08-27-1997 Episode 4 (Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride) Air Date: 09-03-1997 Episode 5 (An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig) Air Date: 09-10-1997 Episode 6 (Death) Air Date: 09-17-1997 Episode 7 (Pink Eye) Air Date: 10-29-1997 Episode 8 (Starvin' Marvin) Air Date: 11-19-1997 Episode 9 (Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo) Air Date: 12-17-1997 Episode 10 (Damien) Air Date: 02-04-1998 Episode 11 (Tom's Rhinoplasty) Air Date: 02-11-1998 Episode 12 (Mecha-Streisand) Air Date: 02-18-1998 Episode 13 (Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut) Air Date: 02-25-1998

South park season 2 dvd review

First airing in late summer 1997, South Park became an American pop culture phenomenon with its raw and politically-incorrect examination of social issues, and of course, a bit of lewd yet cartoon humor. The brainchild of friends Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park became the centerpiece of cable channel Comedy Central's original prime time schedule. Chronicling the lives of fourth graders in the Colorado township of South Park (a place famous for its oddball happenings), the series is anchored by crude animation, yet the characters work, as they voice the writers' uncanny wit, hilarious one-liners, and all-out offensive humor. Whether you love it or hate it, South Park is nonetheless a truly original animation series much deserving of its massive commercial attention. The South Park (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Terrance & Phillip in 'Not Without My Anus'" in which Stan, Kyle, and Kenny do not appear (with only a short cameo by Cartman). Instead, the entire episode revolves around minor characters Terrance and Phillip (part of an April Fool's joke since that day was the original airing of this episode). In the episode, Terrance must go to Iraq to rescue his kidnapped daughter while Saddam Hussein plots to invade Canada… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include "Cartman's Mom is Still a Dirty Slut" in which it is revealed that Cartman's father is really his hermaphrodite mother who impregnated another woman, and "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson!" in which the boys befriend escaped convict Charlie Manson (who learns the true meaning of Christmas) in this spoof of the famous Charlie Brown Christmas special… Below is a list of episodes included on the South Park (Season 2) DVD: Episode 14 (Terrance & Phillip in "Not Without My Anus") Air Date: 04-01-1998 Episode 15 (Cartman's Mom is Still a Dirty Slut) Air Date: 04-22-1998 Episode 16 (Ike's Wee Wee) Air Date: 05-20-1998 Episode 17 (Chickenlover) Air Date: 05-27-1998 Episode 18 (Conjoined Fetus Lady) Air Date: 06-03-1998 Episode 19 (The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka) Air Date: 06-10-1998 Episode 20 (City on the Edge of Forever) Air Date: 06-17-1998 Episode 21 (Summer Sucks) Air Date: 06-24-1998 Episode 22 (Chef's Salty Chocolate Balls) Air Date: 08-19-1998 Episode 23 (Chickenpox) Air Date: 08-26-1998 Episode 24 (Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods) Air Date: 09-02-1998 Episode 25 (Clubhouses) Air Date: 09-23-1998 Episode 26 (Cow Days) Air Date: 09-30-1998 Episode 27 (Chef Aid) Air Date: 10-07-1998 Episode 28 (Spooky Fish) Air Date: 10-28-1998 Episode 29 (Merry Christmas Charlie Manson!) South park season 3 dvd review

South Park, an original comedy series by cable channel Comedy Central, mostly chronicles the lives of four elementary school kids - Cartman (an overweight and sarcastic only child), Kyle (who daydreams of killing off his baby brother Ike), Stan (who vomits when seeing a girl he likes), and Kenny (who somehow dies in each episode). All four attend South Park Elementary School under the direction of third grade teacher Mr. Garrison who educates them via use of "Mr. Hat," a handmade handpuppet. Meanwhile, cafeteria worker "Chef" McElroy (Isaac Hayes) freely gives his advice on love matters while periodically belting out love songs. Home to innumerable oddball characters, South Park is a hilarious setting for many adventures... The South Park (Season 3) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Rainforest Schmainforest" in which the boys are forced to join the "Getting Gay with Kids" choir as punishment for their bad classroom behavior. When the choir takes an adventurous tour of the rain forest in which they almost get eaten by snakes, shot by rebel guerrillas, sacrificed by native cannibals, and sunk in quick sand, they decide the rainforest sucks… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include "Spontaneous Combustion" in which the townsfolk of South Park start spontaneously combusting because they are holding in their farts. When they start farting, the massive release facilitates the greater problem of global warming… And "Sexual Harassment Panda" in which Kyle's dad goes on a litigious rampage in the aftermath of the boys' public service message courtesy of the Sexual Harassment Panda (who then agrees to become Petey "The Don't Sue People" Panda)… Below is a list of episodes included on the South Park (Season 3) DVD: Episode 32 (Rainforest Schmainforest) Air Date: 04-07-1999 Episode 33 (Spontaneous Combustion) Air Date: 04-14-1999 Episode 34 (The Succubus) Air Date: 04-21-1999 Episode 35 (Jakovasaurs) Air Date: 06-16-1999 Episode 36 (Tweek vs. Craig) Air Date: 06-23-1999 Episode 37 (Sexual Harassment Panda) Air Date: 07-07-1999 Episode 38 (Cat Orgy) Air Date: 07-14-1999 Episode 39 (Two Guys Naked in a Hot Tub) Air Date: 07-21-1999 Episode 40 (Jewbilee) Air Date: 07-28-1999 Episode 41 (Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery) Air Date: 10-27-1999 Episode 42 (Chinpokomon) Air Date: 11-03-1999 Episode 43 (Hooked on Monkey Fonics) Air Date: 11-10-1999 Episode 44 (Starvin' Marvin in Space!) South park season 4 dvd review

Launching its premiere broadcast in late summer 1997, South Park instantly ascended to the status of pop culture icon with its rapier-like wit and unique brand of sarcasm. Following the exploits of four elementary school kids - Kyle, Cartman, Stan, and Kenny - the series utilizes amateurish drawing skills, but grade-A humor. The creation of two friends, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, South Park remains one of Comedy Central's most popular cable programs to this day... The South Park (Season 4) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Tooth Fairy's TATS 2000" in which Cartman's two-dollar bounty from the tooth fairy sparks an idea in the boys' heads to scam the tooth fairy. When they learn the truth about the tooth fairy, they establish a new plan to rob rich kids of their tooth fairy money, but they soon learn that a notorious mobster already has the tooth fairy market cornered… Other notable episodes from Season 4 include "Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" in which a fundamentalist preacher convinces the boys that they are all going to hell unless they confess their sins (except for Kyle because he's Jewish, and thus, hell-bound already), and "Fat Camp" in which the boys dissect several endangered manatees in science class following a delivery mix-up with the Denver Zoo… Below is a list of episodes included on the South Park (Season 4) DVD: Episode 49 (The Tooth Fairy's TATS 2000) Air Date: 04-05-2000 Episode 50 (Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000) Air Date: 04-12-2000 Episode 51 (Timmy! 2000) Air Date: 04-19-2000 Episode 52 (Quintuplets 2000) Air Date: 04-26-2000 Episode 53 (Cartman Joins NAMBLA) Air Date: 06-21-2000 Episode 54 (Cherokee Hair Tampons) Air Date: 06-28-2000 Episode 55 (Chef Goes Nanners) Air Date: 07-05-2000 Episode 56 (Something You Can Do With Your Finger) Air Date: 07-12-2000 Episode 57 (Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?) Air Date: 07-19-2000 Episode 58 (Probably) Air Date: 07-26-2000 Episode 59 (4th Grade) Air Date: 11-08-2000 Episode 60 (Trapper Keeper) Air Date: 11-15-2000 Episode 61 (Helen Keller! South park season 5 dvd review

Politically incorrect in almost every way, South Park is a crudely drawn cartoon with an almost limitless number of hilarious and sarcastic moments. Stellar, sometimes off-the-wall writing makes up for poor animation in this series which follows the lives of four third-graders at South Park Elementary School: Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny. With an enormous supporting cast of eccentric characters, South Park rivals The Simpsons in its ability to create strange, yet believable personalities... The South Park (Season 5) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "It His the Fan" in which Kyle gets four tickets to see The Lion King on stage, but he can't find anyone (adult or child) willing to go because everyone in South Park is infatuated with the upcoming television broadcast of the show Cop Drama in which the word shit will be used on TV for the first time ever. When the big event occurs, it ends up changing South Park for the worse… Other notable episodes from Season 5 include "Cripple Fight" in which Big Gay Al becomes Kyle, Stan, Cartman, and Kenny's Boy Scout leader, and "Cartmanland" in which Cartman's grandmother dies and leaves him one million dollars which he then uses to purchase his own personal theme park… Below is a list of episodes included on the South Park (Season 5) DVD: Episode 66 (It Hits the Fan) Air Date: 06-20-2001 Episode 67 (Cripple Fight) Air Date: 06-27-2001 Episode 68 (The Super Best Friends) Air Date: 07-04-2001 Episode 69 (Scott Tenorman Must Die) Air Date: 07-11-2001 Episode 70 (Terrance and Phillip: Behind the Blow) Air Date: 07-18-2001 Episode 71 (Cartmanland) Air Date: 07-25-2001 Episode 72 (Proper Condom Use) Air Date: 08-01-2001 Episode 73 (Towelie) Air Date: 08-08-2001 Episode 74 (Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants) Air Date: 11-07-2001 Episode 75 (How to Eat With Your Butt) Air Date: 11-14-2001 Episode 76 (The Entity) Air Date: 11-21-2001 Episode 77 (Here Comes the Neighborhood) Air Date: 11-28-2001 Episode 78 (Kenny Dies) Air Date: 12-05-2001 Episode 79 (Butters' Very Own Episode) Air Date: 12-12-2001

South park what are we watching

Ever since the advent of the animated series The Simpsons, adults have been watching more cartoons than all the children in their household put together. And in fact with the creativity and poetic license offered by an animated world populated with easily manipulated characters (just try getting a real live actor to perform some of the physical feats that Homer Simpson endures), it might even be argued that cartoons are wasted on the undeveloped psyches of children! As the popularity of animated shows increased, they became more and more outrageous, utilising their chosen media to create greater shock value – and with huge successedy Central’s notorious South Park show receives as much, if not more, publicity from the sections of society it has alienated. But still the show continues to appeal to only a significant niche market, pointing toward one simple question – why do the creators, writers and animators of South Park bother? The show is undoubtedly packaged as a comedic one, and is watched by many for the sheer entertainment value it provides. The basis of all humor, it could be argued, is making a joke at someone’s expense, so we should not be surprised that singling out individuals, both real and imaginary, for ridicule tends to make us laugh. And while the show may have begun using bawdy humor purely for its own sake, South Park, now in its tenth series, has evolved into something far greater. While the type of humor displayed in the show might seem like laughing at someone when they’re down at its very worst, South Park is, in fact, a supremely intelligent production, using the user-friendly medium of satire to make hugely cogent political and social commentary. With cutting insights laid before us in animated form, it could even be argued that the laughs are almost incidental. But they probably aren’t. There is, they say, truth in jest, and this is so for many a good reasonedy makes commentary more palatable, and it changes our perception without us even realising it. We giggle with horror at our own political incorrectness, as we slowly understand that our laughter echoes larger social truths. Because the awful truth is this: South Park doesn’t just make us laugh. It makes us think.

Star trek deep space nine dvd review

Nominated for 28 Emmys, including several for Outstanding Visual Effects, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine continues the rich tradition of the original 1960s Star Trek franchise. Created by former L. A. police officer Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek TV series morphed into a franchise famous for the unprecedented fanatical devotion of its audience. Lasting only three seasons during its original network run, Star Trek struck gold with its syndicated reruns, launching a number of motion pictures featuring the original cast as well as novels, comic books, collectibles, and reams of Star Trek-related memorabilia. Following on the heels of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), the first Star Trek series spin-off of the original, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine foreshadowed additional spin-offs - Star Trek: Voyager (1995), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). Sporting an entirely new cast and crew from its two predecessors, the show focuses on a particular system administered by the Federation instead of the usual Star Trek mission of "exploring strange new worlds"… Star Trek: Deep Space Nine follows the exploits of the Starfleet crew aboard an abandoned and gutted Cardassian space station orbiting the planet of Bajor. In the aftermath of Cardassian occupation, the Bajorian government invited the Starfleet to oversee the reconstruction of the space station. Deep Space Nine quickly transformed into a teeming city of commerce and a hub for travel (similar to Babylon 5) thanks to the discovery of an unknown wormhole nearby. But the wormhole leads to the Gamma Quadrant, realm of the feared Dominion alliance, which views the wormhole travelers as a threat to its totalitarian grip on power. As such, the Dominion launches an attack against the Federation and its Klingon allies. The subsequent and ongoing war is the basis for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine… Capt. Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks) is credited with discovering the wormhole, and he oversees the crew of Deep Space Nine as they wage battle to preserve the Federation. Ironically, his colleague, Constable Odo (Rene Auberjonois), is a Changeling - an alien race of "shapeshifters" who lead the Dominion's united front. Together with the rest of the crew aboard Deep Space Nine, they struggle with internal and external conflicts that threaten to destroy their very way of life… The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere "Emissary" in which the recently abandoned Cardassian space station, Terok Nor, is resettled by the Federation at the request of the Bajorians. Capt. Benjamin Sisko takes command and his discovery of the first stable wormhole nearby, a wormhole worshipped by the Bajorians as a god, transforms Sisko into a prophet in the eyes of the Bajorians. Meanwhile, the audience meets the rest of the cast and crew for Deep Space Nine… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Move Along Home" in which Quark's cheating prompts a group of aliens from Gamma Quadrant to exact revenge on the crew of Deep Space Nine, and "Dramatis Personae" in which an indwelling by aliens transforms Sisko and Kira into enemies of the crew… Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Emissary: Part 1) Air Date: 01-03-1993 Episode 2 (Emissary: Part 2) Air Date: 01-03-1993 Episode 3 (A Man Alone) Air Date: 01-10-1993 Episode 4 (Past Prologue) Air Date: 01-17-1993 Episode 5 (Babel) Air Date: 01-24-1993 Episode 6 (Captive Pursuit) Air Date: 01-31-1993 Episode 7 (Q-Less) Air Date: 02-07-1993 Episode 8 (Dax) Air Date: 02-14-1993 Episode 9 (The Passenger) Air Date: 02-21-1993 Episode 10 (Move Along Home) Air Date: 03-14-1993 Episode 11 (The Nagus) Air Date: 03-21-1993 Episode 12 (Vortex) Air Date: 04-18-1993 Episode 13 (Battle Lines) Air Date: 04-25-1993 Episode 14 (The Story Teller) Air Date: 05-02-1993 Episode 15 (Progress) Air Date: 05-09-1993 Episode 16 (If Wishes Were Horses) Air Date: 05-16-1993 Episode 17 (The Forsaken) Air Date: 05-23-1993 Episode 18 (Dramatis Personae) Air Date: 05-30-1993 Episode 19 (Duet) Air Date: 06-13-1993 Episode 20 (In the Hands of the Prophets) Air Date: 06-20-1993

    Star trek dvd review

Nominated for four Emmys, including Outstanding Dramatic Series two times in its short three-year stint, Star Trek is a true legend of television history. The brainchild of former L. A. policeman Gene Roddenberry, the show premiered in Fall 1966 only to be cancelled after three seasons due to lackluster ratings. But it may well have been NBC's network executives who were the cause of the low ratings as they allotted a less than desirable time slot for the show. When Star Trek moved into syndication, its reruns captured the science-fiction imagination of an entirely new audience, catapulting the Star Trek franchise to new heights. Its newfound popularity would, in the decades to come, spawn novels, comic books, six full-length feature films, and reams of merchandise as fans clamored for anything Star Trek-related. Beginning in the 1980's, spin-offs of the show began to appear such as Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise… Star Trek, the original TV series, follows the adventurous exploits of the crew of the U. S.S. Enterprise as they "boldly go where no man has gone before…" The spaceship Enterprise is led by Captain James Tiberius Kirk (William Shatner), an Earth-born astronaut who often exhibits the charm, leadership, and creativity necessary for the mission's survival. Kirk is joined by Ltmander Spock (Leonard Nimoy), a Vulcan-born retired commander and theoretical scientist. Chief medical officer Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley) rounds out the main cast of Star Trek which includes a plethora of supporting crew with multiple guest appearances and cameo roles. Together, the crew of U. S.S. Enterprise seeks to carry out its mission: "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations…" It's this pioneering attitude, coupled with imaginative sci-fi worlds, that provides Star Trek with its nostalgic allure - especially these episodes from the original TV series, widely regarded as the most popular of all the TV series… The Star Trek DVD features a number of action-packed episodes including the series premiere "The Man Trap" in which the crew of the Enterprise visits the planet M-113 for an annual check on the residents of its colony. But during the initial landing phase, a crew member turns up dead. Kirk orders an investigation and the crew soon learns that a deadly predator that can assume the shape of any life-form is murdering humans, and the creature now has its sights set on the crew of the Enterprise… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "Balance of Terror" in which a wedding between two crew members is interrupted when the Enterprise is forced to defend an Earth outpost from an attack by an unknown spacecraft, and "A Taste of Armageddon" in which the Enterprise encounters a pair of "war computers" that carry out an unorthodox form of warfare… Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (The Man Trap) Air Date: 09-08-1966 Episode 2 (Charlie X) Air Date: 09-15-1966 Episode 3 (Where No Man Has Gone Before) Air Date: 09-22-1966 Episode 4 (The Naked Time) Air Date: 09-29-1966 Episode 5 (The Enemy Within) Air Date: 10-06-1966 Episode 6 (Mudd's Women) Air Date: 10-13-1966 Episode 7 (What Are Little Girls Made Of?) Star trek season 2 dvd review

Recipient of four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Dramatic Series on two occasions in its short three-year run, Star Trek is a science-fiction legend among television viewers. The creation of former Los Angeles police officer Gene Roddenberry, the series first aired in Fall 1966 but was cancelled because of low ratings. It might have been NBC executives who were really responsible for the low ratings seeing as how they placed the show in a horrible time slot. Nevertheless, when Star Trek became syndicated, the reruns took hold of an entirely new generation, shooting the Star Trek franchise to new highs. It would be only the beginning of decades of spin-off products, including comics, novels, six feature films, and tons of merchandise as fans clamored for everything Star Trek-related… The Star Trek (Season 2) DVD features a number of action-packed episodes including the season premiere “Amok Time” in which Spock begins to exhibit strange and irrational characteristics. Concerned, Kirk orders a full medical examination and learns that Spock is experiencing the instinctual mating patterns of a Vulcan and must return to his home planet immediately in order to avoid death. When they arrive, Spock’s chosen mate challenges the pairing, prompting a duel between Spock and the man of her choosing. Kirk is chosen, and he and Spock are forced to fight to the death… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “Metamorphosis” in which the Enterprise encounters a mysterious force known as The Companion which is in love with a human, and “Patterns of Force” in which the crew of the Enterprise visits a planet resembling the society of 20th Century Nazi Germany… Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek (Season 2) DVD: Episode 30 (Amok Time) Air Date: 09-15-1967 Episode 31 (Who Mourns for Adonais?) Winner of countless awards and unsurpassed audience devotion, the original Star Trek TV series follows the adventures of the crew aboard the U. S.S. Star trek the next generation dvd review

Nominated for 58 Emmys, including one for Outstanding Drama Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation fulfilled all the potential and promise anticipated of a long-awaited successor to the original 1960s series - Star Trek. Created by a former L. A. police officer, Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek TV series morphed into a franchise famous for the unprecedented fanatical devotion of its audience. Lasting only three seasons during its original network run, Star Trek struck gold with its syndicated reruns, launching a number of motion pictures featuring the original cast as well as novels, comic books, collectibles, and reams of Star Trek-related memorabilia. Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) became the first TV series to follow on the heels of the original, and its success would spark the creation of three additional series - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), Star Trek: Voyager (1995), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2001). But The Next Generation remained the most popular spin-off. Despite new characters and new episodes, the mission remained the same as before - "to boldly go where no man has gone before…" And to continue the rich tradition of the Star Trek name - a mission Star Trek: The Next Generation accomplishes with relative ease… Star Trek: The Next Generation takes place in the 24th Century, almost one-hundred years after Captain Kirk's crew set out to explore strange new worlds. Capt. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart - I Claudius) commands the USS Enterprise-D and its diverse crew of humans, cyborgs, and varying life forms. Accompanying him on his voyage is an entirely new cast of passengers and crew including Commander William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes - North & South), Ltmander Data (Brent Spiner), Ltmander Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), Lt. Tasha Yar (Denise Crosby), Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn), Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), and her son Ensign Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton)… Together, they struggle against numerous obstacles to carry out the mission of the USS Enterprise: "To explore strange new worlds… To seek out new life; new civilizations… To boldly go where no one has gone before!" This pioneering attitude, coupled with imaginative and brilliantly-produced alien worlds, provides Star Trek with its unique allure and special place within American pop culture - especially those episodes from the original series, widely regarded as the most popular of the Star Trek franchise… The Star Trek: The Next Generation DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere "Encounter at Farpoint" in which the newly built USS Enterprise-D, commanded by Capt. Jean Luc Picard, is tasked with its first mission - to explore the area in and around Farpoint Station. But while carrying out their mission, the crew and passengers encounter a powerful life form known only as "Q". The being accuses the human race of high crimes against the galaxy, and he threatens to destroy all of humanity. Now, Capt. Picard and his crew must think fast, or else risk total annihilation… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "The Battle" in which a mind-control device placed of a former ship of Capt. Picard forces him to re-live a battle from his past (with the USS Enterprise as the target!), and "Coming of Age" in which Wesley takes the Starfleet Academy entrance exam while Capt. Picard turns down a promotion in order to stay with the Enterprise… Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek: The Next Generation (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Encounter at Farpoint: Part 1) Air Date: 09-28-1987 Episode 2 (Encounter at Farpoint: Part 2) Air Date: 09-28-1987 Episode 3 (The Naked Now) Air Date: 10-05-1987 Episode 4 (Code of Honor) Air Date: 10-12-1987 Episode 5 (The Last Outpost) Air Date: 10-19-1987 Episode 6 (Where No One Has Gone Before) Air Date: 10-26-1987 Episode 7 (Lonely Among Us) Air Date: 11-02-1987 Episode 8 (Justice) Air Date: 11-09-1987 Episode 9 (The Battle) Air Date: 11-16-1987 Episode 10 (Hide and Q) Air Date: 11-23-1987 Episode 11 (Haven) Air Date: 11-30-1987 Episode 12 (The Big Goodbye) Air Date: 01-11-1988 Episode 13 (Datalore) Air Date: 01-18-1988 Episode 14 (Angel One) Air Date: 01-25-1988 Episode 15 (11001001) Air Date: 02-01-1988 Episode 16 (Too Short a Season) Air Date: 02-08-1988 Episode 17 (When the Bough Breaks) Air Date: 02-15-1988 Episode 18 (Home Soil) Air Date: 02-22-1988 Episode 19 (Coming of Age) Air Date: 03-14-1988 Episode 20 (Heart of Glory) Air Date: 03-21-1988 Episode 21 (The Arsenal of Freedom) Air Date: 04-11-1988 Episode 22 (Symbiosis) Air Date: 04-18-1988 Episode 23 (Skin of Evil) Air Date: 04-25-1988 Episode 24 (We'll Always Have Paris) Air Date: 05-02-1988 Episode 25 (Conspiracy) Air Date: 05-09-1988 Episode 26 (The Neutral Zone) Air Date: 05-16-1988

    Star trek voyager dvd review

Nominated for 30 Emmys, including seven for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series, Star Trek: Voyager continues the rich tradition of the original 1960s Star Trek franchise. Created by former L. A. police officer Gene Roddenberry, the Star Trek TV series morphed into a franchise famous for the unprecedented fanatical devotion of its fan base. Lasting only three seasons during its original network run, Star Trek struck gold with its syndicated reruns, launching a number of motion pictures featuring the original cast as well as novels, comic books, collectibles, and reams of Star Trek-related memorabilia. The third spin-off from the original Star Trek series, Star Trek: Voyager premiered in January 1995 to modest critical acclaim, but experienced great success with television viewers, slowly increasing its ratings as the series progressed. Following on the heels of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), the series precedes Star Trek: Enterprise (2001) while boasting an all-star cast that includes veteran actress Kate Mulgrew (whose past TV appearances include such shows as Dallas, Cheers, and Murphy Brown). Yet instead of pursuing the classic Star Trek mission to "boldly go where no one has gone before," Star Trek: Voyager is more about going where the crew has been before… Star Trek: Voyager follows the exploits of the crew aboard the starship USS Voyager. As the series begins, the Voyager is on a Federation mission to capture a rogue ship of Maquis rebels (a race first introduced in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). While in pursuit of the Maquis, the Voyager enters a system known as the badlands, and both ships are instantaneously transported to the Delta Quadrant over seventy-thousand light years away on the outskirts of the galaxy. Soon, both the Maquis and the crew of Voyager learn they were brought to Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker, a mysterious force overseeing the safety of the Ocampan race who live in the shadow on an impending threat from the vicious Kazon. When the Kazon destroy the Maquis ship, the Voyager crew merges with the Maquis crew to defend themselves from the Kazon. Having destroyed the device which could bring them home, the crew of the Voyager - led by Capt. Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), and the crew of the Maquis ship - led by Commander Chakotay (Robert Beltran), must work as a united front in order to meet their mutual goal of finding a way home… The Star Trek: Voyager DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere "Caretaker" in which the Federation starship USS Voyager, led by Capt. Kathryn Janeway, is unexpectedly transported 70,000 light years away while pursuing a band of Maquis rebels through an area known as the badlands. The Voyager's new destination is the Delta Quadrant, an uncharted region of the galaxy overseen by the Caretaker and threatened by the colonial aggression of the Kazon… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include "The Cloud" in which the Voyager accidentally injures an alien life form while searching for an ingredient to boost its energy supply, and "Learning Curve" in which members of Commander Chakotay's ragtag Maquis crew are given a Starfleet Academy tutorial on how to act properly aboard the Voyager… Below is a list of episodes included on the Star Trek: Voyager (Season 1) DVD: Episode 1 (Caretaker: Part 1) Air Date: 01-15-1995 Episode 2 (Caretaker: Part 2) Air Date: 01-15-1995 Episode 3 (Parallax) Air Date: 01-23-1995 Episode 4 (Time and Again) Air Date: 01-30-1995 Episode 5 (Phage) Air Date: 02-03-1995 Episode 6 (The Cloud) Air Date: 02-10-1995 Episode 7 (Eye of the Needle) Air Date: 02-17-1995 Episode 8 (Ex Post Facto) Air Date: 02-24-1995 Episode 9 (Emanations) Air Date: 03-13-1995 Episode 10 (Prime Factors) Air Date: 03-20-1995 Episode 11 (State of Flux) Air Date: 04-10-1995 Episode 12 (Heroes and Demons) Air Date: 04-24-1995 Episode 13 (Cathexis) Air Date: 05-01-1995 Episode 14 (Faces) Air Date: 05-08-1995 Episode 15 (Jetrel) Air Date: 05-15-1995 Episode 16 (Learning Curve) Air Date: 05-22-1995

    Taxi season 2 dvd review

With its mainstream humor and oddball characters, Taxi is widely regarded as one of the best comedy series ever produced on television. The brainchild of James L. Brooks (creator behind such groundbreaking hits as The Andy Griffith Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Simpsons), Taxi retains a dedicated cult following to this day by means of its widely syndicated reruns. With a star-studding cast, the sitcom introduced most of the world to the talents of such comic superstars as Andy Kaufman, Danny DeVito, Marilou Henner, Tony Danza, and Christopher Lloyd… The Taxi (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "Louie and the Nice Girl" in which Zena (Rhea Pearlman), a woman who refills the vending machines (and a friend of most of the cabbies), reveals to Alex and Elaine that she has a crush on Louie. When the two begin dating, Louie boats of their sexual escapades, but Zena tells the gang that nothing has happened. Confronted, Louie admits that he doesn't know what to do with a "nice girl" like Zena, at least until he learns that Zena might not be the nice girl he once thought… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include "Wherefore Art Thou, Bobby?" in which Bobby quits his dream of becoming an actor after a young protйgй lands a job on his first try, and "Jim Gets a Pet" in which Jim wins $10,000 at a race track and uses the winnings to purchase the long shot horse on which he bet… Below is a list of episodes included on the Taxi (Season 2) DVD: Episode 23 (Louie and the Nice Girl) Air Date: 09-11-1979 Episode 24 (Honor Thy Father) Air Date: 09-18-1979 Episode 25 (Reverend Jim: A Space Odyssey) Air Date: 09-25-1979 Episode 26 (Nardo Loses Her Marbles) Air Date: 10-02-1979 Episode 27 (Wherefore Art Thou, Bobby?) The a team dvd review

One of the many hit TV shows inextricably linked to the 1980's is The A-Team, an action series with plenty of bombs, machine guns, and bazookas - where miraculously no one ever seems to die! Short for "Alpha Team," The A-Team is a Vietnam-era crack commando unit wrongfully accused of robbing the Bank of Hanoi. Having escaped from a maximum security prison, the four man team survives in the anonymity of the Los Angeles underground. And with the government still hot on their trail, they're forced to work as soldiers of fortune, providing aid and assistance to the helpless victims of various injustices… The A-Team is led by cigar aficionado Col. John "Hannibal" Smith (George Peppard), a wise-cracking officer who always has a plan in the works. Hannibal is flanked by Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Dirk Benedict), the consummate ladies' man; Sgt. Bosco "B. A." Baracus (Mr. T), a gold-drenched muscleman afraid of flying; and Captain H. M "Howling Mad" Murdock, a lanky mental case who nevertheless carries out his missions with flawless precision. Together, they travel the country in B.
