It seems that for such a simple, single-purpose object like a baseball bat, it would be easy to buy one for your athletic son or daughter. But the truth is, there are all kinds of baseball bats. Fear not, the following basics will guide you in the right direction to getting the sure-shot baseball bat your son or daughter desire. In official leagues, youth baseball bats are sometimes traditional and wooden but more often than not, they are aluminum. Aluminum bats weren't truly introduced until the 1970's and these youth baseball bats are smaller, lighter, but a lot more powerful, than their wooden counterparts. So when shopping for your child's baseball bat, first investigate what kind of bat is required for their league and then determine what length and width is preferable. From then on, it's mostly about body composition and the way the bat interacts with the body during swinging motion. Longer bats have a better chance of hitting that ball, but the lighter the bat, the more powerful a batter's swing and the faster and farther the ball will go! Also, a thick barrel on a baseball bat can mean a more powerful hit, but at the same time it will also weigh down the bat. It all comes down to your preferred batting style. For the best prices out there, compare youth baseball bats on the web with those of your local sports equipment stores - you can usually save a lot of money online. Also, since you are not allowed to swing a baseball bat around at a store, sometimes practicing with different bats at a batting range is a good way to pick out the prefect baseball bat.
Although they are students of college in general who are encouraged to take part in the organized sports, the children of all the ages take part. To take part in the organized sports of team is a great manner of carrying out the physical advantages of a healthy life style, and a direction of wellbeing. The organized sports are also a great manner of developing the building of friendship and character. In more of the positive lessons of the team work, ethics of work, and qualifications social, the intensified direction of the competition which fфlatre develops can be a negative constraint a life of the child . the obsession with the profit, to emulate their heroes in professional sports, or to reach the can of professional level carry out to the steroid use. While the encouragement of the children to try to be the best is a positive directive, some can transform it into negative by the experimentation with the substances which can harm their bodies and their spirits. It is perhaps because of these extremely high levels that the dangerous practices start to take with catch young athletes. Moreover, it can be due to the increases in the report of the professional athletes by using steroids. They are athletes who are idolвtrйs by kids. They are athletes who employed steroids and great success carried out in their respective sports, though at a price. It is responsibility for the parents and trainers to make sure that all the children, particularly adolescent, are exerted in a sure and healthy way without use of the steroids. The steroids are drugs which can help of the athletes to achieve certain physical goals such as the mass, the force, and the resistance increased of muscle. However, these drugs are extremely dangerous and illegal once used in competing sports extending from professional level even to the contests of college. The use of drug, however, even the use of the steroids, is sometimes improved in films and the media. The children can see an athlete placing a disc to show only years after employing steroids. The youth of America can interpret this like manner easy to carry out success. The American media tends to return account only of the steroid use among the professional athletes mainly in the baseball, football, and the basketball. What misses, much of time, in these reports/ratios of the steroids among the youth of the nation . the use of the steroids in the United States is the unrestrained use increases in dangerous numbers and should be a center of the media in order to give the attention to the parents, to the trainers, and to the teenagers. As recently as 2003, it was found by the monitoring system of risk and behavior of youth as 5.3% of females and 6.8% of males employed the steroids anabolic at least once. These statistics are more than the double of a study undertaken almost a decade before. The steroid use, as well as of other drugs, is a continuous problem among the youth of America . the steroid use not only can become causing a dependence, but can also have medical risks been dependent in the long run on it. Initially, the steroid use prolonged can carry out to the failure of kidney, hypertension, and imbalances of electrolyte. Moreover, the steroids can carry out to the increases in harmful cholesterol and risk of race and cardiac disorder even, which can finally carry out to death. Any teenager employing of the steroids is in danger to change his models and development of growth as well. The steroids in the system can carry out to the premature closing of the growth plates to prevent of this fact the teenager of carrying out his full developed form. More disturbing is the suspension of the menstruation in the girls combined with looking further into voice, baldness, and growth of the facial hair. The steroids are particularly dangerous for young teenagers and adult young people because their bodies pass by the normal changes which can severely be changed or obstructed by the use of these drugs. In more of these physical effects, the steroid use can also affect a mental wellbeing of the teenager . the use of the steroids, like we know, can change the quantities of growth hormone in the body as well as of other hormones and neuro-transmitters. This can carry out to wild mood the oscillations which can materialize in the suicidal depression and even thoughts. One announced that the teenagers who had ceased employing steroids had fallen into the depression (which is a common feeling among years of adolescence but can be exemplifiй by use of drug), and taken their clean saw. Many parents and trainers are appropriate today that something must be done to discourage from the youth of the today employing steroids. The best manner of doing this is by education, thus much of schools and programs of sports today incorporate the education of drug in their curriculums. However, much more is necessary to encourage the action to avoid steroid. According to the national institute for the abuse drug, only 45% seniors of college believe that that to employ steroids can be physically harmful. The media can also form its part to help the youth of America as well. More insurance on the risks related to the use of the steroids would go a long way, particularly among the impressionable years of the adolescence of the today .
A new national organization is providing a fun way for former football players to stay active and in the game. American Football Alumni unites former high school, college and professional players and coaches so they can reconnect with old teammates and make new friends. But besides its extensive networking opportunities, the organization offers members information and support on how to use their football disciplines to further themselves personally, professionally and financially. To date, there's been an overwhelming response to the organization because of the exciting tools that American Football Alumni offers. For example, members now have an outlet to share their opinions on timely football topics, such as what is right for college players and new sports rules that are being considered. Members also can participate in exclusive, national college football polls. This brings together the broadest demographic of players and coaches to create what is believed to be not only the most accurate polls, but ones that truly represent the sport from those who know it best. One of American Football Alumni's main goals is to recognize players of every skill level. Because society tends to only honor the big-star players, the organization makes sure all players are recognized as individuals who were important to their teams, our society and to football culture as a whole. Uniting thousands of players from around the country, American Football Alumni will hold Football Fest 2006, which will be held July 6 to 9 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be an action-packed weekend with opportunities to mingle with former football greats, talk with big-name coaches, play golf, attend speaker luncheons, hear the latest on sports topics at seminars and participate in the awards dinner. Nowhere else will you be able to rub shoulders with so many football lovers under one roof.
It can be a bit nerve wracking to take on any new sport, but there is perhaps no athletic activity that intimidates beginners quite as much as skydiving. Since the majority of people who are interested in skydiving have never jumped out of a plane before, it makes plenty of sense that skydiving can cause even the most experienced and courageous athletes to come down with a sudden case of the jitters. The fact that many people find their first jump so difficult makes the initial fall all the more important. If your first skydiving experience is positive, you will feel more confident about your ability to learn skydiving technique. If you don’t enjoy your first jump for any reason, you are unlikely to try again. In some sense, the first jump can make or break a skydiver. There are two common methods for taking on your very first dive: tandem jumping or accelerated free fall. In a tandem jump, you share a harness with an experienced skydiving instructor who has total control of the fall and landing. In an accelerated free fall, instructors help to guide you during your time in the air, but you are in your own harness, open your own parachute, and control your own landing. Each of these methods has some advantages and some disadvantages, and deciding which one is right for you depends largely on what you think your future as a skydiver will be. Tandem jumping can be less frightening than an accelerated free fall, and many people opt to start out with a tandem jump in order to get a taste of what skydiving is like without having the responsibility of controlling any portion of their fall. Often, people who only plan to skydive once choose to take a tandem jump because it allows them to relax and enjoy the ride while their jumping partner worries about the altitude, the parachute, and the landing. This gives you the opportunity to experience the thrill of skydiving while knowing that your safety is in very capable hands. In an accelerated free fall, you exit the plane with two instructors, one on either side of you, who maintain a grip on your harness for the duration of the fall, controlling your speed, helping you improve your position, and assisting you with stability. When you reach four thousand feet above the ground, you open your own parachute and pilot yourself down to the landing target. An accelerated free fall costs more than a tandem jump because it requires two guides instead of one, but unlike the tandem jump it can count as the first leg of your training course towards eventual certification. This makes it a good option as a first jump for people who are serious about continuing with their skydiving training.
: Chartering a boat is a good way to sail without the expense of owning your own boat. If you can't spend more than a few weeks a year sailing and few people can the the option of chartering is definitely worth serious consideration. It also provides the opportunity to sail different boats in varied and far off locations. Choose between sail and power. Get the right boat in terms of size dependent on the number of people chartering and the depth of your pocket. Apart from the choice of the type of boat, size and cost there are various types of charter packages available and this article takes a closer look at what is on offer. Flotilla Sailing - A great way to get started for those with an bit of an independent streak. And the social scene is can be something else. The flotilla usually comprises of 8/10 boats, one of which, referred to as the lead boat, carries a skipper, hostess and an engineer. The skipper will be responsible for ensuring that the guests on the other boats in the flotilla have the navigational skills and boat handling/seamanship skills required providing help and advice where required. The hostess will organise the social events - meals out in the evening, lunchtime barbecues and the famous last night party. The engineer is there to repair the boats while the holiday makers will do their best to break things as they learn to sail. My initial impression of this type of charter was that the whole thing would be a bit regimented with all the boats in the flotilla following the lead boat like ducklings do a duck. This is far from what happens in practice. The day begins with the skipper of the lead boat carrying out a briefing giving the destination you will be expected to make for during the day and any navigational considerations along the way and then you're pretty much on your own. The next time you see the lead boat will be at that evenings destination where the crew will be waiting to assist you with berthing. A great way to sail in company with the reassurance that experienced help is never more than a VHF call away. Skippered Charter - Perhaps you're a bit short of experience or don't want the responsibility of managing the boat or the navigation. As the name suggests you charter the boat and the skipper comes with it. You're expected to make up the numbers of the crew but all the responsibility is with the skipper. In practice the level of involvement of the charterers is down to them. Most skippers are flexible enough to allow the customers as much involvement as they wish. Crewed Charter - You get the boat, the skipper and crew and a good cook. This tends to be an expensive way to charter, you have to pay the wages of the crew and because you are carrying more people the boat is bigger and costs more to charter. But if your idea of sailing is sitting in the sun drinking a gin and tonic watching others do the work then this is for you. Most skippers won't stop you getting involved with the sailing of the boat if you want to but if you're wanting a more hands on experience consider an alternative form of charter. Bareboat Charter - The ultimate freedom. All you get is the boat and a briefing when you collect the boat at the start of the charter. This briefing should include safety on board, a look at the way the various systems work on the boat and some local knowledge of the proposed cruising area. Then it's down to you. Before taking a bareboat charter you should have some basics of navigation and seamanship, the level of this knowledge in some part determined by the proposed cruising area. You will, for example, need more experience for a two week charter in the Channel Islands, just of the coast of France in the English channel, with its 5 metre tides and numerous rocks and shoals lying just beneath the surface than is required for an Ionian charter in Greece. No tides, very little to bump into in terms of hidden rocks and most of the sailing between islands is by line of site. More information about yacht charter can be found at the Yacht Charter Directory

World Wrestling Entertainment's Wrestlemania is, quite simply, professional wrestling's answer to the Super Bowl, World Series and Final Four, all rolled into one. For over two decades, it has been the singular event that has brought all storylines and rivalries together in one action-packed spectacular. And it has been the signature promotion that has been most instrumental in wrestling's ability to transcend the sports and entertainment industries. One only needs to take a look at the list of celebrities who have participated in Wrestlemania to understand the power and influence of the event in the mainstream of American sports and popular culture. The likes of Donald Trump, Pete Rose, Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, Mike Tyson, Alice Cooper, Billy Martin, Lawrence Taylor, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Liberace, Cyndi Lauper, Pamela Anderson and Ozzy Osbourne have all been a part of it. Muhammad Ali was the guest referee for the first-ever Wrestlemania main event, a tag match which pitted Hulk Hogan and Mr. T against Rowdy Roddy Piper and Paul "Mr. Wonderful" Orndorff. It can reasonably be said that Wrestlemania is the most far-reaching spectacle in all of sports entertainment. And this year's show promises to be one of the greatest ever. It is scheduled for March 30 in Orlando, Florida. The brainchild of Vince McMahon, the impresario who is chiefly responsible for having transformed the professional wrestling industry from a series of regional road shows to a phenomenon with its stars seen, known and revered at once by a worldwide audience, the first Wrestlemania took place on March 31, 1985 at Madison Square Garden, long recognized as the mecca for the company that was started by his father, Vince McMahon Sr. Since then, Wrestlemania has spread itself around, staged at major arenas such as Boston's Fleet Center, the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Long Island's Nassau Coliseum, the Atlantic City Convention Center, even Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The shows have also been held at various times in huge athletic stadiums, including the Pontiac Silverdome, Toronto's SkyDome, the Houston Astrodome, the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Safeco Field in Seattle and Ford Field in Detroit. It was at the Silverdome that Wrestlemania set the all-time record for highest attendance at an indoor sporting event, drawing 93,173 fans in 1987. It was at that spectacular that one of the seminal moments in the history of wrestling took place, as Hulk Hogan body-slammed the indomitable Andre the Giant on his way to winning a heavyweight title match in what Hogan later described as a "passing of the torch" to him as the figure who would take the WWF (as it was known then) to a new level. But wrestling history is made at every presentation of Wrestlemania. The event never lacks for surprises. What will be the major stories coming out of this year's Wrestlemania? Which celebrities will be involved this time? If you're a wrestling aficionado, you clearly have a "need to know." This year marks the first time Wrestlemania will be held in the Sunshine State. In the shadow of Disney World, the WWE superstars will battle it out at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium. You will want to be there on the biggest night of the year in sports entertainment. Just point, click, and be a witness to history - through Impulse Tickets!

Every four years a World Cup will come along and occupy a football fan’s thoughts and time for weeks. Game after game, the best footballers in the world will parade their skills in front of thousands at the stadium and millions watching on the TV back in their homes. Players Players generally make the World Cup what it is. If there were not great players we would certainly not be watching this tournament in the vast numbers that we do. In previous World Cup finals we have seen the emergence of some great talents, talents that we would not normally be able to see. History Which players did the world discover after displaying their skills in previous World Cups? There would be far too greats many to be able to list in detail and there has always has always been heated discussions about who is the greatest player of all time, with two players always at the forefront of the debate. Lets look at these players’ credentials. Diego Armando Maradona [Argentina] [World Cup Honours : 1982, 1986 (winner), 1990 (2nd), 1994] Maradona is a flawed genius, no-one has ever had his sublime talents and been able to hit the self destruct button with such great effect. Never before has a player been credited with winning the World Cup trophy single handed as he did in Mexico 1986. Even in the infamous 1986 quarter final and scoring what is widely regarded the best goal that has ever been scored in the Finals. After picking the ball up in his own half he managed to dribble hi way through a quality England side before slotting the ball past Peter Shilton, the England keeper on the day. The Argentinean team that he played with in this tournament were all excellent players but possibly not quite good enough to lift the trophy. However, with Maradona at the height of his powers there could only be one team that could possibly win. Maradona also helped his nation to the final of the World Cup in 1990 in Italy and only lost to a German penalty scored by Andy Brehme. However, after failing a drug test in 1991 his career was on a downhill path and then came his final appearance on the greatest stage in the game of football. In 1994, the World Cup in USA when he scored in Argentina’s first game against Greece anyone that watched his celebration knew that it was not only adreneline that powered the little magician. Eyes glaring into the camera, the hearts of all Argentineans knew that drugs were fuelling their talismanic captain. A drug test followed and the inevitable positive result ended Maradona’s tournament and effectively his career. Edson Arantes do Nascimento - Pele [World Cup honours : 1958 (winner), 1962 (winner), 1966, 1970 (winner)] The only similarity between Pele and Maradona is that they hail from the same continent. Pele was the original World superstar, enjoying a career that can be regarded as a being a model professional. Pele’s credentials are there for all to see, he set up goals, he was an instrumental leader on and off the field and he also scored goals. In fact the amount of goals that he scored is a substantial feat in itself. His record is phenomenal, scoring five goals in a game six times, four goals 30 times and three goals 90 times. These are numbers the modern player can never dream of matching. In his illustrious playing career he scored a stunning total of 1283 goals. In his international career he scored an amazing 77 goals in 92 appearances. However, there was much more to Pele than ‘just’ goals. He will also be remembered as being the only player in history for winning the world Cup on three occasions, a feat that is unlikely to ever be repeated. Only an injury in 1966 in England stopped him from possibly winning the World Cup on four consecutive occasions, allowing a fine England side to become World Champions for the first time. He was captain of the greatest team of all time, the 1970 Brazil side that won the tournament so convincingly in Mexico. Anyone who has watched the final game of that tournament, which Brazil defeated Italy by four goals to one, will be amazed at the skill and vision of the original total footballing side. Given that Pele hung his playing boots up over 20 years ago and is still revered by football fans that never saw him in his prime is testament to the great man’s passion and skill for the greatest game of all. Many others have graced the greatest tournament that is the World Cup, but both of the players named above are by far heralded as the greatest two. But who would make the top ten complete? Gordon Banks, Eusebio, Puskas, Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, Garrincha and the Johann Cruyff to name but a few. In fact many modern day critics may have Cruyff as the greatest modern player, a player who helped to mould the game into the style of play that you see today. Then there are players that did not manage to show their talents in the World Cup, the most notable being the late, great George Best from Northern Ireland. The other most notable absentee is Alfredo Di Stefano. There are actually many Latin Americans that would hail the ‘Blonde Arrow’ Di Stefano as the greatest player that the world has ever seen. Among those still playing, Czech Republic playmaker Pavel Nedved, of Juventus, Manchester United's Dutch predator Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ukrainian goal-machine Andrey Shevchenko, of AC Milan, would top the list. But all three will appear at Germany 2006, barring late injuries, and will probably write some new headlines too. We look forward to this year’s event with great enthusiasm and hopefully it will be remembered as being one of the greatest tournaments of all time. Let us all hope!
In every sporting event one can invariably find a player, a team, a nation, poised to become the next memorable story – a story that will survive the test of time and go down in history. The FIFA World Cup is unique, in that, every country can qualify. It is the only tournament that can unite the world with its common passion for the sport. It is a tournament where everyone celebrates, dances, and rejoices in the streets of their capitals, exulting in the spectacular feats of their players, their teams and their nation. But what makes the World Cup particularly extraordinary is the national pride that it inspires, especially for the first time qualifiers. Since the first tentative World Cup in Uruguay in 1930, World Cup history was not only about the winner or winning the title, but about the stories. World Cup history resonates with the back-stories that echo through time - of players, teams and nations that surprised the world by achieving the unexpected. From the poignant moments of the underdogs and the worlds Cinderella teams, to the birth of legends and the brilliance of the football giants – the World Cup brings joy to every nation. It is about the stories of players, teams and nations taking it to the highest levels; the stories about emotions and pride that unites the world. At 2006 FIFA World Cup, we welcome the heavy favorites - from the European continent and all the way to the South American continent. For these giants, winning is everything. In their spirit is held the promise of thrilling showdowns, individual feats of brilliance and the majestic harmony in motion of a team united in its quest for the world’s most coveted prize in football. Will the European contenders - Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France, and England have the firepower to overcome the South American power forces from Brazil and Argentina, or will the world be dancing to the samba beat again this year? What about the other European contenders, the lesser known South American teams, or the North American and Central American zone teams? Or better yet, the Australians? Let’s not overlook the African continent! Will the trophy finally make its first trip south of the Mediterranean Sea? For that matter, even the Asian continent and their desire to bring Asian football to new international acclaim should be considered. At the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, we hope to see these underdogs, long shots, and Cinderella teams. There is always something special about the underdogs for winning is not everything to them. Simply by qualifying to walk onto the world stage, they have realized their goals and sparked the hopes of their nation. Armed with this impossible hope, win or lose, they are there to defend their national pride, and valiantly defend it they will, sometimes to the very chagrin and amazement of disbelieving onlookers. As football fans across all continents count down to the opening day of 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, BetUS Sportsbook has launched its 2006 World Cup betting portal for soccer betting enthusiasts around the world. What a day it shall be, June 9th 2006! What a month it shall be, until the truth will set us all free on July 9th 2006! The whole world will be looking to Germany from June to July, watching history in the making. There will be sorrow, there will be joy. There will be dreams crushed, there will be dreams made. There will be silence in the streets, there will be rejoicing and dancing in the streets. After all, this is the World Cup, the tournament of tournaments. So may the best national team win!
Outright Odds: 500/1 Group A Winners: 16/1 Costa Rica are living proof that when it comes to football, size does not matter. The Ticos have generally been mainstays in the World Cup finals despite having country 40 times smaller than Mexico and a population of just four million. The Ticos eased to third place in their qualifying group and will aim to compete against the “bigger” sides in this year’s Finals. Despite their overall comfortable qualification, Costa Rica almost fell at the first hurdle, a qualifying match against Cuba in which they scraped through on away goals. They re-appointed former coach Alexandre Guimaraes who guided them to the last World Cup and he has turned the team around. Costa Rica sent out a warning, but ultimately revealed their main weakness in a recent friendly against former champions France. They raced into a two goal lead in Martinique but eventually lost the match 3-2. Their weak defence will be their main downfall and 14 goals conceded in 10 qualifiers, including five against Honduras and three at Guatemala does not bode well for more seasoned opposition. However, where their strengths lie is in attack. Winston Parks, Walter Centeno and veteran striker Paulo Wanchope means the side will always be able to create and score goals but there is always the danger they may concede them in greater numbers. Costa Rica missed out on the knockout stages in the 2002 World Cup to Turkey due to their superior goal difference. Wanchope, his country’s all-time top scorer with 43 goals in 67 international matches will retire after the tournament and is looking for one final hurrah before hanging up his boots for good. Guimaraes will be keen to repeat the success of the 1990 team which reached the second round on their debut following victories over Sweden and Scotland. With Group A opposition in Poland and Ecuador, there is the possibility of an upset on the cards. If they can nick a result or two like they did back in the 2002 World Cup, a victory over China and draw with Turkey, then qualification is not beyond them. However, looking back to the heavy 5-2 group stage defeat to Brazil, if the defence does not improve, a gallant but narrow defeat may be on the horizon. Recommended Bet: You could not bet confidently on Costa Rica winning or even qualifying from the group stage to emulate their exploits in the 1990 World Cup. However, there may be some value in the individual match betting. If Germany start the tournament slowly, Costa Rica could catch them cold in the opening fixture and snatch a point. There could be a possible upset in their second match against Ecuador who are themselves no great success on the big stage. Germany vs Costa Rica draw @ 4/1
A new communication system for referees is being implemented and hopefully will be ready for the World Cup 2006 that starts in Germany on June 9th. It will be a way for the referee to communicate with the two assistants and the fourth official during the game. Last December FIFA rejected the idea of a smart ball, system that would avoid mistakes on goal line decisions but the Federation decided that it needed more testing so that it wouldn’t be ready for the next World Cup. Three different systems are being tested in Zurich to choose one of them. Another option they have in mind during this process is to improve one of the three systems taking the best of each one. Two important details that are being tested are: make sure that there is no interference in the communication and that people won’t be able to listen into the referees conversations. The 44 refereeing trios still in the running for World Cup places got together last Tuesday for a four-day workshop in order to test their knowledge of the game, skills in English, ability to manage with stress, interpretation of the rules of the game and levels of mental and physical fitness. On March 31st FIFA is going to decide how many referee teams will be used during the World Cup. This number shouldn’t be higher then 36.
The baseball bat is a simple concept but a pretty complicated object. Here are some baseball bats facts to enlighten you about its interesting history and design. The more you know about baseball bats, the more you will find yourself in love with this fascinating sport. It's essential to get a grip on the bat's most basic concepts before you make a buying decision. So, without further ado, here are some interesting baseball bats facts: A baseball bat is essentially a smooth “rod” that the batter uses to hit the ball thrown by the pitcher, signaling the other players to run around the bases and ultimately try and score a homerun. The thickest part of the bat, the part that is supposed to hit the ball, is called the “barrel” and the best part of the “barrel” for hitting the ball is called the “sweet spot.” The barrel ultimately gets thinner and thinner until it forms into the handle. On metal bats, rubber may wind around the handle for good grip. The “knob” is at the very opposite end of the barrel's tip and helps a batter to hang onto the bat so that it doesn't fly away! Think about this before purchasing that cheap bat that no one else seems to care for. In the early days of baseball, younger players were most prevalent and the majority of bats were handmade, so sizes and shapes varied wildly. But as baseball became more of an official, regulated sport, so did the baseball bats. In 1859, rules were made about the diameter of the bat, and to this day every kind of league has their own individual rules. Therefore, be sure you are clear on your league's rules on baseball bat measurements. Although all bats look very similar to each other, there are minuscule differences that are not obvious to the human eye. I hope these historic baseball bats facts were useful!
It is well known that basketball was invented in 1891 by Dr. James Nesmith, but what is not so well known is the history of women's basketball. The inaugural women’s college basketball session was actually part of a physical education class at Smith College for girls in Conneticut. The very first women’s college basketball game took place at Smith College for girls in 1893 where the freshman played against the sophomores. Unlike women’s college basketball games today, the game actually took place behind locked doors and men were prohibited from watching. The rules of this first women’s college basketball game were altered from those of the original men’s version to enhance teamwork. The court had 3 zones and three players from each team of nine were allowed in each zone but could not move out of their zone. Funnily enough, these early restrictions in the women’s college basketball game are strikingly similar to the game of netball that is played by schoolgirls and women all over Europe. Women’s college basketball began to spread quickly and the first game between two different women’s college basketball teams was played in April 1896 with Stanford beating Berkley. There were still 9 players on each women’s college basketball team in this inter-college game but instead of keeping the original rule where a player could only hold the ball for 3 seconds and must dribble it 3 times before passing this was changed so that a player could not run more than 5 feet before having to pass the ball. Once again, however, as with the first women’s college basketball game, men were not allowed to watch the game. The formal rules of women’s college basketball were first produced in 1901 and went through numerous changes before developing into the game that is played today. One of the most interesting aspects of the early women’s college basketball games is that the basket was sewn shut so that the umpire had to remove the ball from it every time it was put through the hoop. The familiar indoor basketball court that today’s women’s college basketball teams play on was not always made available to the women for a couple of decades after the sport began. Some women’s college basketball teams had to play on grass courts outside and did not have the chance to play on an indoor court at all.
