Making the move easier on children

Whether it's across the country or down the block, moving can be stressful. Experts agree this is particularly true for young children, who often fear leaving their friends and familiar surroundings for a new home. According to the U. S. Census Bureau, more than 10 million children relocate each year, leaving many parents to struggle with how to create a smooth move for their kids. Allied Van Lines has teamed up with Thomas Olkowski, Ph. D., a top child psychologist and author of "Moving with Children," to offer expert advice designed to help parents ease their youngsters through the relocation process. "While moving to a new home is exciting, it often means a new school, new friends and a whole new life for children," says Dr. Olkowski. "It's natural for them to feel nervous. Luckily, there are a few simple steps parents can take to calm their child's fears and make the transition easier for the whole family." • Tell children about the move as soon as possible-a child should never overhear the news by accident. • Schedule regular family meeting times to discuss the move with kids, sharing the details, encouraging their questions and listening to their suggestions. • Position the relocation as an exciting adventure with fun opportunities for the family. • For younger children, consider reading children's books about moving, and talk about the pictures and how the people in the pictures may be feeling. • Before moving to a new home, it is critical that children have a chance to say goodbye. Consider hosting a moving party and give children an opportunity to create scrapbooks and photo albums with their friends. • Provide children with address books and autograph books to use when saying goodbye.

Making your myspace profile stand out from the crowd

There is little doubt that MySpace has taken the internet world by storm. The ability for members to make friends and displays their interest, hobbies and statistics (age, location etc.) has seen the site soar to one of the most popular websites on the internet. It is suggested that the total number of MySpace members will soon be approaching 100 million; which is why it can be great fun to customize your own profile page to stand out from the crowd. You may have noticed from browsing friends profiles that many opt to display large images or videos on the page that take an age to load, so this may not be the best route to take to make an attractive looking profile. I prefer to choose a nice light background with traditional black text, possibly adding a single video to the page. There are certainly some points to remember if you want to make your profile appealing to everyone. Consider that many members may still be using a dial-up internet connection, meaning that any large images or videos may take a long time to load. Also ask the opinion of your friends to gather feedback over what looks good on your profile page and what does not. The color of the background and the color of the text are often badly chosen. Some people find it hard to read white or red text on a black background, whereas some it difficult to read yellow writing on a white background. Choose carefully, as many MySpace users may be put off reading your profile if the page does not display well. There are some great features that you can add to your page, including cursors, layouts, surveys, games and much more. You can even add music to your page, so that when someone visits your profile the music will play. You can literally spend hour after hour customizing your page! MySpace is a great place to find friends with the same interests as yours, and you might choose to reflect this in your profile with pictures of your horse for example if you like horse riding or you with your basketball team if that's what you like to do. The site has also provided great promotion for many users, and has led to relative success for a number of musical artists. This is of course down to the large number of users that can be contacted. One very important note to make is for young users to use caution when posting personal information and for parents to realize this. It's an unfortunate reality that some people use such sites to stalk young users, so caution must be made to stop this immediately if it appears. This is not meant to be scaremongering, but instead to highlight the fact that it can be great to talk to friends and share your interests, but be cautious when sharing personal information with members you do not know. Nevertheless, as highlighted earlier, your MySpace profile can be fun to customize and there are many ways that this can be done.

Managing hazardous household waste your roles and responsibilities

It is no secret that the quantity of household waste produced is increasing year after year at an alarming rate and governments are under pressure to expand existing landfills or build new ones to accommodate the waste that is being produced. What is Hazardous Household Waste? Household waste is leftover from household goods or products. Hazardous household waste are household products which contain chemicals that has the potential to affect plants, the health of humans and animals and are detrimental to the environment when handled improperly Improper management of household waste has the potential to be very detrimental to the environment, people and animals. What many of us may not realise is that many of those common household products contain corrosive, toxic or flammable chemicals, that can be hazardous to the environment if not handled or managed properly. Hazardous household waste should not be disposed of in the same way as regular waste. For example, a gasoline can buried in the ground can affect rivers and find its way into drinking water. The hydrocarbons in motor oils or pesticides have the potential to bio-accumulate in fresh water fishes and can find its way in the food chain. Burning of hazardous waste leads to the release of toxic chemicals and fumes in the air. Once released into the environment these chemicals are dispersed over large areas, thereby affecting the health of persons over a wider area. Some of these chemicals remain in the systems of plants and animals for a long time and may enter the food chain when the affected plants and animals are consumed. Bioaccumulation of hazardous compounds in the systems of plants, animals and humans has the potential to affect their reproductive lives, growth, impair the function of various organs such as the liver and kidneys, affect the functioning of the central nervous systems and immune systems of human and animals and some have been listed as known carcinogens. How Can You Tell a Product is Hazardous? Read the labels of products. In most countries labels are required for all products. These should provide information on the constituents of the products, including symbols and words to indicate the hazard to animals, humans and the environment if mishandled. How To Tell If Products Are Hazardous? Always read the label of products in your household and make it a habit of reading the labels of product before making the decision to purchase them. What Can You Do to Manage Hazardous Waste? Purchase Environmentally Friendly Products - Experts agree that, the best way to control waste is to not produce it in the first place. You can start by avoiding the purchase of products that contain chemicals that are harmful to humans, animals and the environment. Purchase those products that are biodegradable or friendly to the environment. Safe Product Storage - Ensure that hazardous products are stored in a safe place, that their containers are not damaged, do not have any leaks to reduce the risk of contaminating water sources, land, humans, animals, plants and the environment. Ensure that corrosive products like acids are stored in separate areas from other hazardous products. Check products frequently to ensure that there are no leaks and broken lids or bulging sides. Always store products in their original containers to avoid unintentional usage. Ensure that these products are stored in a place where children and animal have no access to them. Disposal of Products - Disposal of products should always be the last resort. Why? Because there are no safe ways of disposing hazardous waste. You can avoid the dilemma of hazardous waste disposal by either selecting biodegradable products, recycling the product, giving the excess products to friends, neighbours or family or purchasing smaller volumes of the product. If however disposal is inevitable then you should dispose of the waste in the manner prescribed on the label. Although there are laws to regulate the handling and use of large quantities of hazardous waste the existence of laws to regulate the typical small quantities generated at the household is non existent. For this reason, the responsibility for the management of hazardous waste falls squarely on the shoulders of the hazardous waste generators. Protection of the environment can only happen when you play a role in finding creative ways to re-use, recycle or reduce waste. This is essential if we are to safeguard the environment and health of future generations. Remember that Waste Management is Your Business, My Business, Our Business.

Many support causes that show troops they care

Many Americans have found a new way to show American troops serving in Iraq since 2003 that they still care and that these servicemen and servicewomen haven't gotten lost in the shuffle. "When I toured Iraq in 2005, I realized that even doing something little to express our gratitude can go a long way," said country music artist Aaron Tippin, national spokesperson for the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA). "These people are fighting for our freedom-the least we can do is show our appreciation," he said. ASYMCA-the nation's leading nonprofit organization providing support services to military personnel and families-encourages Americans to show support for the troops. Send A CD To A Soldier Americans can show their support through the Send a CD to a Soldier program. By visiting sendacdtoasoldier, you can donate a copy of Patriotic Country 2, to be included in care packages and distributed to the troops by ASYMCA. The compilation CD includes country music hits by famed musicians, including Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, Lonestar, Aaron Tippin, Alabama, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. ASYMCA programs help families of service members cope with the realities of military life by offering support services such as child care, vocational training and health and wellness assistance. "One of the hardest things a service member will ever do is leave his or her family," explained retired General Norman Schwarzkopf, who commanded the troops in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Gen. Schwarzkopf said he held his subordinate commanders personally responsible for both the service members under their command and those service members' families. Helping Soldiers' Families Helps Soldiers "I found that knowledge of their families' health back home contributed significantly to the military readiness and preparedness of the soldiers," Schwarzkopf added. "It was the soldiers who were most preoccupied with their families' well-being who were least able to focus on the job at hand." ASYMCA, he said, provides the kind of support our military personnel and their families deserve.

Marriage counseling using games to reduce tension

Marriage is one of the most enjoyable but also one of the most painful experiences that people undergo. It carries with it the whiff of romance and eternal bliss, but sometimes you get a pack of thorns instead. How Do You Ensure Your Marriage Is a Bed of Roses and not Thorns? One of the major ingredients that a happy marriage needs is a willingness to compromise. But that is much more difficult than it seems. Everyone will agree that they need to compromise, but what happens when the issue is not a simple and tiny one? What then? Who Compromises first? I am sure you must have said to yourself at one point or another that enough is enough. You will no longer be the patsy. You are an independent person and your partner has crossed the line. Maybe. Maybe your relationship has died and you are just beginning to realize it. Maybe your sentiments are more passionate than romantic. Maybe you no longer love her. Stop being a fool! What if I told you that the solution to your marital strife is not divorce. Am I mad? Look around. How many divorces do you know? Plenty. Me too. But are they really happier off? What is the first thing that a divorced person does? He or she goes out and starts looking for partners. Isn't that strange? No. You say that everybody needs somebody to love. Maybe. I say that they had that somebody and they just let them go. So please stop being foolish. Why not tackle your problems with a simple suggestion? A Game. Games as a Peace Maker: Playing brings out the child in us and causes us to express more than we normally would. We also release bottled up frustration and let go of mental thorns in our outbursts of joy and anguish as we win or lose. Games unite people together and therefore I suggest playing together but if you wish one can play against the other. The game turns into a battle but only this time, after its over, you will both feel refreshed from losing all that bottled up pain and anger. Games to Pick From: Try picking games that both of you like or at least somewhat active ones. You could even play hide and seek in the house or something else. If you do prefer playing cards, pick a game which does not go on for long and which requires some thinking like hearts, poker, bridge or rummy. Keep score and determine before hand that the loser has to do something for the winner. Chores is not a prize for the winner! If you lose you have to do something that that the other person wants for themselves like give them their favorite massage or cook them their favorite meal. Conclusion: Games are a welcome ambrosia to love and will excite you as a couple to disregard all your frustrations and anger and deal only with the good. The anger and frustrations will not magically disappear, but now you can deal with them together calmly and in a good mood.

    Marriage or prostitution

It is said that prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. To prostitute means to give someone the right to use the body for a sum. Do all the prostitutes sell their bodies for money only? Some might be selling their body for food, or a gift or something else. So, we can say that prostitution means selling the right to use the body for something in exchange. I want to talk about a marriage where a woman sold her body for money and also few other things. She is the heroine of this story and lives in a conservative society, where pretenses are at times more important than truth. Our heroine was in deep love with a married man but had no guts to say so. Therefore she agreed to marry the villain of this story, a man who proposed marriage in front of her father. While getting married to this person, she cheated him. She lied to him by hiding her real love. But that is not the point of my story. Let me come to the basics. Our heroine was married to the man/villain in full public view, so she had no reason to deny that marriage unless she divorced him. She never loved him, but carried on with this man and let him brutalize her in all the ways possible. At times, he raped her seven to eight times a night. Was this a marriage or did she sell herself like a prostitute for something? Let me elaborate further. What did she get in return of giving away her body? Her parents had spent quite a lot of money on the wedding. If she divorced this man, her parents might have got a bad name in society. I am talking of conservative countries and not developed nations. So the first thing she gained by selling her body was the peace of mind her parents got by looking at their daughter. That peace was totally false, because the daughter was neither truthful to them nor to society. But even knowing all this, the parents had a peace of mind that the society thought about the daughter as a happily married woman. Let the reality be totally different. It were pretenses that mattered. So the first gain - False peace of mind for parents that society thought of the heroine as a happily married person. There are many more things, all totally wrong that our heroine of the story got for selling her body. Let us look at some more. This girl had got a baby out of getting repeatedly raped by this man. The baby called this man/villain her father and it seems that the father loved the baby. Why and if it is really true, is known only to this man. But outwardly he showed love. A man who can brutally use a woman's body repeatedly, can love anything living is impossible to comprehend. But this was shown to the society. Our heroine got her second payment as a man called father for her daughter out of rape. What else? This man/villain said that he had no one else except our heroine in the world to call as his own. He knew it very well that the heroine was not in love with him, but had married him under compulsion of so many other factors. But he emotionally blackmailed her saying that if she left him, who else was there for him? Please therefore stay with me, keep the pretense of a married couple in public and let me rape you whenever I wish to do. The third profit was emotionally giving into the blackmail of a brute. Let me list one more gain, though there were many more. Our heroine had no strength of character or guts to come open and say that I want to separate. She did not want to face the possibility of living alone. She did not want to lose her respect in the society. So she continued. And the biggest gain? Before I tell you about that let me add something. Our heroine was in love with someone else as I told you in the beginning. This man wanted her to come to him and denounce the marriage to the brute. He was desperate for that because he could not tolerate the rapes. They were killing him. But if our heroine does that what would she tell her daughter when she grows up? She had no guts to tell her daughter the truth. So she continued prostituting herself not only in body but also in mind, character and truth. In the whole process, she managed to kill a person who was in deep love with her and could not tolerate the rapes. She gave him a bigger blow when he realized that she believed in living a liars life forever. This man got totally broken and might have killed himself, if God had not saved him. I wonder if our heroine, the brute or the parents will ever get any peace. Untruth never gives peace but shows the path to hell. Who is a better person? A prostitute who openly trades or our heroine? Make your own decision.

    Mathematician mom re engineers quilting

During her career as a software engineer, Marci Baker solved difficult mathematical problems. When she became a stay-at-home mom, she turned to solving another problem involving precision and speed: "How do you make a traditional quilt in one-tenth the time?" Along the way she discovered a sewing machine that appeals to both her quilting and her engineering sides. A lifelong sewing enthusiast, Baker had not had much quilting experience. But looking for a creative outlet, she decided to focus on the craft and soon discovered that using the systematic approach of an engineer she could make the time-consuming process of cutting and sewing go much more quickly. Baker developed a method based on "strip piecing," eliminating the need to measure and sew together every small piece of fabric in a quilt top. Instead, strips of fabric are sewn together, cut diagonally, and then pieced together in a pattern. Using Baker's method, a traditional quilt that would normally take about 50 hours to complete can be pieced together in as little as five hours. Realizing she'd created a marketable product, Baker designed patterns and quilting tools and began selling them through her company, Alicia's Attic. With the ability to make quilting dramatically faster and easier, Baker's products turned out to be ideal for the two largest segments of the quilting market: experienced quilters and those who want to learn. Two years ago Baker opened a retail space. She uses it as a workshop, to hold quilting classes and as a place to offer her books, patterns and quilting tools. She also sells the Janome line of sewing machines. She began using Janome sewing machines in her classes because she knew they would be easy for new quilters to operate and give experienced quilters excellent results. Baker does her own quilting on Janome's Memory Craft 6500 Professional machine, which operates at up to 1,000 stitches per minute and has almost twice the workspace of the traditional home sewing machine. Janome designed it to have the power and stitch quality of an industrial machine, but with the quiet operation of a home machine. Baker says she's looking forward to using Janome's newly released Memory Craft 6600, which has even more advanced features.

Maybe we need an occasional disaster

The suffering and trauma left in the wake of last year's tsunami in Southeast Asia, our own hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma, the earthquake in Kashmir, and the mud slides of Central America, cannot be ignored. But none of these were man-made acts that we can attempt to eradicate, like terrorism or the brutality of tyrants. These were natural events -- cataclysmic to be sure, but an expected by-product of life on an ever-changing and unstable planet. We can certainly improve on our ability to prepare for them, and the speed and intensity of our response to the victims, but for all our brainpower and technological sophistication, we cannot prevent their occurrence. To emotionally cope with their aftermath, we can reframe the tragedy of events by a focus on how disasters can bring out the best in our often flawed human race. We can look to conservative, white-only Texas towns that opened their arms, and their hearts, to poverty-stricken African Americans fleeing the floods of New Orleans. We can stand astonished but proud at the gifts of food and shelter and support that the semi-hippies of the Rainbow Coalition brought to stricken right-wing citizens in small Mississippi towns. We can look around a football stadium where donors stood in line to give whatever they could. We can bow our heads in awe before the families who opened up their homes to those who had nothing left. We can salute the volunteers who took food, water, blankets and generators to devastated areas, moving faster and with more commitment than the reluctant minions of the Federal Government. We all lead lives rife with potentialities. It takes certain conditions, combined with inner decisions, to convert them into realities. The best of us, staring destruction, anguish, and utter desolation in the face, rise to the occasion. From banal, self-centered, unremarkable lives, we seize the chance to become more than we have been, to harness our own promise, to dare the heroic. Disasters provide us with unique opportunities. It is not that we wish anyone pain but suffering is part of life. When it happens, it brings darkness to its victims but also the chance for fellow men to kindle a new and brighter light that enriches our species, our spirits, and our future.

Medical malpractice you are not helpless

To often, the general public just sits back as very qualified doctors and medical professionals make mistakes in the normal course of their everyday business. Their business is the treatment of us, the average citizen. Over the years we have placed Doctors (and some extent Lawyers) on top of pedestals which puts them out of reach of any retribution for wrong doings. However, Doctors DO pay medical malpractice insurance in the rare case they do make a mistake in their practice. You ever wonder why it’s called the practice of medicine? It’s not a misnomer. Doctor’s are held to a higher degree of responsibility due to the inherent trust we place in their care. But there does come a time when they will make a mistake, or mistakes. Whether it’s from being overworked (a very common occurrence in the medical field) or from straight ignorance and poor decision make, or even sheer negligence, we do have a right of remedy against the medical profession. It is there where we can talk to a qualified lawyer who is well versed in the field of medical malpractice who can then determine if you have a qualified cause of action. If you don’t go see a lawyer, and you do feel that you have a cause of action, do your research online to see if you can read about similar cases that have gone to trial or have been litigated elsewhere. It is important to feel justified for going through the expensive and often times unpleasant motions of suing somebody for the hurtful actions caused against you or a loved one. Regardless of how unpleasant it, you still need to stand tough and seek what is rightfully yours. Doctors and other professionals are NOT on some tall pedestal that can’t be touched. You do have the right to seek compensation if you have been damaged through the negligence of others. For more information of your rights and of other cases, please visit medicalmalpractices. net to learn more.

    Memory research misses the obvious

The search to reveal a mystery Research laboratories around the world sought the location of human memory. The research had followed diverse leads. One clue related to the branched inputs of nerve cells, called dendrites. Branch growth was assisted by a protein called cypin. Some memory disabilities were related to deficits in cypin. So, one possibility was that nerve cells grew new branches to store memory. New branches could represent added memory. But, human memory was immense. People were reported to be able to recognize, with 99.5% accuracy, any one of 2,500 images shown to them at one second intervals. Each of those images contained millions of pixels of specific information. When the size and scale of human memory was considered, the idea of branches, however microscopic, growing to add memories sounded perilously cancerous. More hints LTP was another possibility. High frequency stimulation of the dendrites of a neuron were known to improve the sensitivity of the synaptic nerve junctions. Such activity was seen to be "remembered" by the cell through greater sensitivity at specific inputs. Neurochemicals at the synaptic junctions were also known to increase such sensitivity. But, while the process enhanced memory, LTP failed to offer a global hypothesis about how memory could be stored. Without answers The hippocampus was also mentioned in connection with memory research. Damage to this organ, a component of a region of the brain called the limbic system, was known to cause patients to forget ongoing events within a few seconds. But, incidents from childhood and early adult life were still remembered. Memory had faded from a couple of years prior to the event that caused damage to the hippocampus. Older memories were still retained by the patient even without the hippocampus. Evidently, the organ did not store such memories. It could play a role, but the actual storage of memory remained enigmatic. In the end, all science did know was that memory resided all over the system and that one particular organ helped the formation of memories. Combinatorial coding Yet, the answer to the memory enigma had been staring them in the face for years. That happened, when science acknowledged the use of combinatorial coding by nerve cells in the olfactory systembinatorial coding sounded confusing and complex. But, in the context of nerve cells, combinatorial coding only meant that a nerve cell recognized combinations. If a nerve cell had dendritic inputs, identified as A, B, C and so on to Z, it could then fire, when it received inputs at ABD, ABP, or XYZ. It recognized those combinations. ABD, ABP, or XYZ. The cell could identify ABD from ABP. Subtle differences. Such codes were extensively used by nature. The four "letters" in the genetic code – A, C, G and T – were used in combinations for the creation of a nearly infinite number of genetic sequences. Highly developed skill It was combinatorial coding, which enabled nerve cells of reptilian nosebrains to recognize smells and make crucial life decisions since the beginnings of history. Such sensory power had been developed in animals to a remarkable degree. Research showed that dogs could register the parameters of a smell and then pick it out from millions of competing smells. The animals could detect a human scent on a glass slide that had been lightly fingerprinted and left outdoors for as much as two weeks. They could quickly sniff a few footprints of a person and determine accurately which way the person was walking. The animal's nose could detect the relative odor strength difference between footprints only a few feet apart, to determine the direction of a trail. Recording and recognizing ABD and DEF enabled animals to record and recall a single smell to differentiate it from millions of other smells. Inherited memories of millions of smells decided whether food was edible, or inedible, or whether a spoor was life threatening. The system had both newly recorded and inherited memories, which enabled them to recognize smells in the environment. Inherited and acquired memories While such remarkable odor recognition skills were known for ages, it was only in the late nineties that science discovered combinatorial coding. A Nobel Prize was awarded for the discovery of the use combinatorial coding by the olfactory system in 2004. The olfactory system used the coding to enable a relatively small number of olfactory receptors to recognize different odors. Science discovered that particular combinations could fire to trigger recognition. In the experiment scientists reported that even slight changes in chemical structure activated different combinations of receptors. Thus, octanol smelled like oranges, but the similar compound octanoic acid smelled like sweat. We remembered the smell of oranges. Even the smell of sweat. Which meant that the system remembered those combinations. But science failed to recognize the true significance of combinatorial coding when they searched for the location of human memory. Millions of combinations were possible for the nerve cell with inputs from A to Z. But nerve cells had thousands of inputs. If nerve cells remembered combinations, then that could be the location of a galactic nervous system memory. Global applications Combinatorial coding could provide immense intelligence to the nervous system. The wonder of nature was the enormous scale, scope and sensitivity of its reporting systems. The mind had this vast army of scouts, reporting back on millions of tiny sensations - the heat of sun and the hardness of rock. Pain on the skin too was a report. When their impulses were received in the cortex, you felt pain. In the earlier example, with combinatorial coding, a cell could fire for ABD and be inhibited for ABP. If the pain reporting nerve cell recognized inputs from its neighbours, it could also respond to neighbouring pain and fire to report sympathetic pain. It could respond to touch and inhibit its own sympathetic pain message. The cell could respond to context. Pattern recognition Nerve cells didn't receive just a few inputs. They received thousands. So, pain could be sensitive to context. Inherited memories in combinatorial codes could enable the system to recognize and respond to patterns in contextbinatorial coding could explain the mind as a pattern recognition engine. But science worked on the assumption that the neurons in the brain did not recognize, but did computations. The search for a mathematical formula which could simulate the computations of the mind goes on. But, if you assumed pattern recognition, you just stepped out of the mathematical maze. Unfortunately, the recognition of patterns was too formidable a task for computers. The diagnosis of diseases was a typical pattern recognition problem. The pattern recognition difficulty The obstacle was that many shared symptoms were presented by different diseases. Pain, or fever were present for many diseases. Each symptom pointed to several diseases. In the customary search, the first selected disease with the first presented symptom could lack the second symptom. So the back and forth searches followed an exponentially expanding trajectory as the database increased in size. That made the process absurdly long drawn – theoretically, even years, when searching extensive databases. In the light of such an impregnable problem, science did not evaluate pattern recognition as a practical process for the nervous system. An instant pattern recognition process There is an Intuitive Algorithm (IA), which follows a logical process to achieve real time pattern recognition. IA was unique. In a feat never achieved by computers before, IA could almost instantly diagnose diseases. IA used elimination to narrow down possibilities to reach the correct answer. In essence, IA did not calculate, but used elimination to recognize patterns. IA acted with the speed of a simple recalculation on a spreadsheet, to recognize a disease, identify a case law or diagnose the problems of a complex machine. It did this holistically and almost instantly, through simple, logical steps. IA proved that holistic, instant, real time pattern recognition was practical. IA provided a clue to the secret of intuition. The website intuition. co. in and the book explain IA in detail. Seamless pattern recognition The mind was a recognition machine, which instantly recognized the context of its ever changing environment. The system triggered feelings when particular classes of events were recognized. The process was achieved by inherited nerve cell memories accumulated across millions of years. The memories enabled the mind to recognize events. Similar inherited memories in nerve cells enabled the mind to trigger feelings, when events were recognized. And further cell memories caused feelings to trigger actions. Actions were sequences of muscle movements. Even drive sequences could be remembered by nerve cells. That was how we were driven. So the circuit closed. Half a second for a 100 billion nerve cells to use context to eliminate irrelevance and deliver motor output. The time between the shadow and the scream. So, from input to output, the mind was a seamless pattern recognition machine. Intuition and memory Walter Freeman the famous neurobiologist defined the critical difficulty for science in understanding the mind. “The cognitive guys think it's just impossible to keep throwing everything you've got into the computation every time. But, that is exactly what the brain does. Consciousness is about bringing your entire history to bear on your next step, your next breath, your next moment.” The mind was holistic. It evaluated all its knowledge for the next activity. However large its database, the logic of IA could yield instant pattern recognition. Since that logic was robust and practical, intuition could also be such an instant pattern recognition process. Intuition could then power the mind to instantly recognize an infinite variety of objects and events to trigger motor responses. Each living moment, it could evaluate the context of a dynamic multi-sensory world and its own vast memories. Those memories could be stored in the combinatorial codes of nerve cells. The Nobel Prize should have been awarded not for the discovery of combinatorial coding, but for the discovery of human memory.

Men why do you batter women

In this century when we all talk of exploring mars and reaching help to the deep corners of Africa, is it not only surprising and also shameful that some men batter their wives? Whatever we say, we cannot deny that women are getting battered. A syndrome has also been names after this - Battered Women syndrome. Why should men beat women? Let us look at this barbarism. Frustration must be one of the reasons. Do men enjoy taking out their frustration of career failures and problems on women? Or they are sadists? If they do not like their woman, they should separate. How can they be allowed to beat women? That is reprehensible and barbaric. How can an educated man beat a woman? What drives him to do that? Is their any profile of such men who do this? What if the woman is not meek and retaliates. There will be bloodshed. Why a beautiful relationship reaches such depths is beyond my imagination and thinking. How society allows this. Why such men are not boycotted from the society? What is the problem with such men that they batter their woman? As men, we are protectors of women and not supposed to beat them. Why do we men do it? In a survey in India, it was found that a majority of men who beat women come from highly educated class. This is more shocking. These men keep a mask of good behavior in society and beat the woman in the confines of their home. Please let all men decide that come what may, they will never ever batter their woman. That is inhuman.

    Men s formal dress

When you receive an invitation card for the formal party, this may be a sign that you are having a move up your career path or it is your first formal charity event. As you read the invitation you see listed among the details "black tie". Does that mean you need to wear a tuxedo? Will a suit do just as well? If you want to feel comfortable and impress your host, determine what formal attire is expected based on the terms used in the invitation as well as the many choices available to you. 1. Black Tie is a common reference to a formal affair. If the invitation specifically states 'black tie' you WILL be expected to come in a tuxedo. You do not have to wear a black tuxedo - a grey tuxedo would be equally acceptable. You may also prefer to add some color or distinction to your outfit by choosing a cummerbund, vest and tie that is a patterned or solid color. Choose a sophisticated cuff link and finish the look with black patent leather shoes. The variety of styles available today allows you to customize your look with the cut of the coat, the color of your accessories and they style of neck wear. Depending on the event and your hosts you may determine if too much self-expression would detract from the evening. If you are unsure it is wise to stick with traditional black and white. 2. White Tie is the most formal dress request. It requires a strict attention to tradition and does not permit the guest to deviate from an accepted standard. A White Tie event requires the men to be wearing a black, full dress tailcoat, wing collar shirt, white pique vest and tie. You may also wish to add such elegant touches as a top hat, cane and white gloves. 3. Traditional (or Formal) Morning Attire - Another take on formal wear for day time events is the traditional morning attire. The most formal suit is composed of a grey cutaway coat, striped trousers and grey vest with a wing collar shirt and ascot. Less formal dress would substitute a Stroller coat; lay down collar shirt and four-in-hand tie. For non-traditional formal wear at a day time event you can wear a black or grey tuxedo or even a white tuxedo for warm weather events. 4. Semi-formal allows the guest to wear either a black or grey tuxedo or a suit. Seasonal appropriate colors can be used for day time affairs.

    Mind control over teenages

The Mosquito™ ultrasonic teenage deterrent is the solution to the eternal problem of unwanted gatherings of youths and teenagers in shopping malls, around shops and anywhere else they are causing problems. The presence of these teenagers discourages genuine shoppers and customers’ from coming into your shop, affecting your turnover and profits. Anti social behavior has become the biggest threat to private property over the last decade and there has been no effective deterrent until now. Acclaimed by the Police forces of many areas of the United Kingdom, the Mosquito ultrasonic teenage deterrent has been described as “the most effective tool in our fight against anti social behavior”. Shop keepers around the world have purchased the device to move along unwanted gatherings of teenagers and anti social youths. Railway companies have placed the device to discourage youths from spraying graffiti on their trains and the walls of stations. With an effective range of between forty five and sixty feet Compound Security Systems’ field trials have shown that teenagers are acutely aware of the Mosquito and usually move away from the area within an average of 8- 10 minutes. The system is completely harmless even with long term use. The Times newspaper in England reports that the device was first used at a Spar shop (convenience store) in Barry, South Wales, where the owner Robert Gough was enthusiastic about the device's success in driving away the local youths. "Either someone has come along and wiped them off the face of the earth, or it's working" he is quoted as saying. Since then, there have been literally hundreds of successful reports not only from police and local authorities, but also from business owners. It seems that there is a very real medical phenomenon known as presbycusis or age related hearing loss which, according to The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, "begins after the age of 20 but is usually significant only in persons over 65". It first affects the highest frequencies (18 to 20 kHz) notably in those who have turned 20 years of age". It is possible to generate a high frequency sound that is audible only to teenagers. Is your business suffering from anti social youths driving your customers away or generally causing damage or nuisance? Are you bothered by crowds of teenager’s hanging around your street and making life unpleasant? Mosquito™ ultrasonic deterrent can solve your problem. Purchase Mosquito™ now! the-mosquito

Modern technology makes people accepting of elective lasik surgery

Welcome to the 21st century where, thanks to modern increased tech, patients can have just about any cosmetic operation done the way they want, with very little inconvenience. And with people's disposable income growing, more and more elective procedures are being done these days, especially to help people stay young. Thanks to cosmetic operations, paients can look young, and thanks to procedures such as LASIK, people can function "young" (i. e., keep their youthful vision). Many of these surgerys offer a fast, outpatient surgery and a quick recovery that normally lasts no more than a few days. What's more, even though some of these surgeries are invasive, polls show that many people are much more willing to undergo an invasive operation. So who performs most cosmetic surgerys? Whether you're thinking of LASIK, PRK or IntraLase, or some other cosmetic surgery, it's wise to work with someone who is recognized as competent in his field. Some studies show that most patients have a strong desire to have their operation done by a skilled doctor with a lot of experience and training in the field they work in. A small minority of patients have their cosmetic surgery done by a general medical doctor, however the vast majority are done by doctors. Furthermore, there is an increasing number of technicians who are now doing complex procedures. A technician? Is this safe? it depends. There are some procedures that are fairly simple with a low risk factor. With these procedures, it's probably safe for the patient to be treated by a technician. But in the event of an invasive procedure such as LASIK, you should only rely on an experienced, competent professional in this field. He should be a physician and she should be up-to-date on all the latest methods and technology. Preferably, you should look for somebody who has done at lest 500 similar procedures during the past year. In looking at a doctor's credentials, there are several questions you should ask. First, ask candidly if he or she has any valid or previous malpractice suits against him. Also, ask what area they consider their specialties. If anything sends up a red flag in your mind, you should look elsewhere for your surgery. It's important that you follow the facts and also follow your gut. This is important for both your health and your appearance. The chances of you running into complications are largely related to the skill level of the surgeon you get to do the procedure. If the doctor you select has done hundreds of LASIK procedures successfully, you have a much greater chance of having success with your own LASIK operation. Conversely, if you go with an MD with little experience in the field, simply to save your funds, you run a greater risk of experiencing some complications following the procedure. Remember: This is not a field where you should bargain shop. In the area of elective operations, you almost always get what you pay for. So look first at the doctor's credentials. Then if the procedure seems too expensive, talk bout what financing options are available to you.

    Money the paradox of money

Money is probably the most commonly word used around the world. Money, without which lot many things cannot be done. If one has no money, one will have trouble even feeding oneself, leave aside shelter etc. What should be our attitude towards money? How much money should we accumulate and how much should we give away. How many morals and principals can be broken to get more money? And why should we earn more money than absolutely essential? There are many questions about money that come in to mind. Because since ages its money and power that has motivated human beings. For few of us power matters more than money. And paradoxically money always brings power with it. But power may or may not bring in money. For example if you are the most important person of your country but highly principled, you will have total power but very little money. On the other hand some corrupt dictators have accumulated money beyond any imagination. For few of us there are other pursuits than money and power. A good scientist gets more excitement with his inventions than any amount of money or power. For each of us there is a different motivator. Money seems to be one of the most common motivator. Cutting costs, raising prices and making more profits, this is the mantra of most of the industries and enterprises. Stock market has attracted people since long only because of the probability of making quick money. Why should lotteries become popular? Should not we depend upon our hard earned money? But lottery tickets are bought around the world. Buyers hope that they may get lucky and earn more money than they could otherwise on a single day. Gambling of all types is again driven by money as the only factor. We can list as many activities as we wish that are driven by attraction for money. Does money and more money and much more money than others give more peace of mind? Does it give more happiness or more contented life? The answer is not yes in most of the cases. Rather more money brings in more problems. Where to invest? Which bank to choose? What about those who are always requesting for donations and loans? How to keep them away? And what to do with money after one has met all the needs? Buy a still bigger mansion or holiday all the year or begin collecting antiques? Money. If you have less, you want more and if you have more you don't know what to do? That is the paradox of money.
