Traveling disability do s and don ts

Traveling with disabilities just requires a little more advance planning. Be sure to mention your disability and ask if there will be easy access when making your reservation. This is important whether you are traveling by plane, train or boat. If you will require assistance, research to make sure that it is available when you require it. Make advance reservations whenever possible and insist that your special requirements be noted. It's usually best to have your medical information on you at all times. You can ask your doctor for a Medical Certificate which is a statement of your health and says that it is safe for you to travel. Have him list all of your prescribed medications and have copies of your prescriptions. If you require medical equipment, bring along spare parts that you might need and have the information for simple repairs. Travel insurance can be a particularly good idea. There are also health insurance policies for travelers. Some plans may not cover other countries or even other states, so be sure to check before you travel. The quality of health care in the area you are visiting can easily be ascertained before travel. Be sure to check on your hotel or living accommodations prior to making your reservations. They should also be told about your disability so they can make recommendations. Any restaurants or museums or other public places you are planning to visit can also be telephoned ahead. It will save time and energy to know the ease of accessibility beforehand. Many places will be very accommodating to your requirements, as long as they can make advance preparations. Travel agencies can be particularly helpful in these instances. There may even be tours especially available to you that are designed for others with disabilities or handicaps. Be honest about your needs with everyone you speak to. Find out if your dietary needs will be sufficiently met at any hotels or restaurants that you're planning to visit. Remember to also ask about restrooms. It's also a good idea to have addresses and phone numbers of nearby hospitals or doctors that can see you in an emergency. Your doctor may be able to make some recommendations. Be sure to tell him where and when you are traveling, as he may have some necessary suggestions. Advanced preparation can save many hours of important time if you should need any medical assistance. It will certainly be imperative to have done your homework prior to the trip if you are visiting a country where there will be language barriers. Find about any security screenings and know your rights prior to making your plans. There's more to traveling with a disability then just using the required TSA locks on your luggage. If this first time traveling with a disability, plan a short trip and one not too far from home. There are many books and articles written today that can assist you in planning a pleasurable trip. The Internet is a wealth of knowledge and allows you to research every scenario. The travel industry is more aware today, and glad to accommodate any and all travelers. Talk to other travelers who would have prior knowledge of the area you are researching. Now that you've done the necessary research you can grab your luggage and start packing! Begin by making a list so you will not forget anything that is necessary or that will make your trip more comfortable.

Traveling on a budget through europe

Have you ever felt that you could not travel to Europe because of the cost? This article has been written to give you ideas on how to travel Europe while being on a budget. When it comes to taking a trip across Europe, many people think that such an adventure is outside their modest means. Nevertheless, the legions of academy students and others on shoestring budgets that come over to Europe every summer undermine this assumption. If these budget travelers can make Europe within their means, there is no reason you cannot as well. Europe is actually quite a travel bargain in many ways, and if you select your lodging, meals and transportation cautiously a trip to Europe can actually cost a lot less than a week in some of the most expensive cities in the United States. One of the main considerations of enjoying Europe on a budget is how to get around. When it comes to moving around, there are essentially three choices – the bus, the train and air travel. Renting a car is regularly impractical in Europe, with the different types of roads, different laws and road signs in a countless number of unfamiliar languages. From now until the now until the end of this article, take the time to think about how all of this budgeting information can help you possibly take a trip to Europe without spending an enormous amount of money. Europe’s intercity bus lines present passes, comparable to rail passes, that can be purchased for numerous lengths of time and which provide for infinite travel during those times. Single city to city bus tickets are regularly quite practical as well. The key disadvantage of the bus system in Europe is that it is time-consuming compared to rail travel and air travel. In addition, there is inadequate legroom on most buses; few opportunities to stand up and stretch, and some buses do not have on board bathroom facilities. For many people, the additional convenience of the train more than justifies the difference in price, and train passes are still quite reasonably priced for students and others on a budget. In addition to being faster, trains provide such amenities as bathrooms and also sleeping quarters on overnight trains. Be conscious of, however, that there is regularly an extra payment for sleeping cars and other first class accommodations, even for rail pass holders. One choice that is overlooked by a lot of budget travelers is that of city to city air travel. In Europe, though, air travel is actually quite a price effective alternative to train and even bus travel. There are several outstanding low price air carriers all around Europe, and the fares they price are regularly comparable to, and in some cases even lower than train tickets among the same cities. No matter how you get about, you will need a clean and secure place to lodge once you arrive at your destination. There are a number of outstanding low price lodging options in Europe, ranging from hostels to hotels to bed and breakfasts. Overall, hostels will be the most inexpensive option, but for groups of two, three or more it may be just as cheap, or even cheaper, to rent a small space at a budget hotel as an alternative. For those who reach their destination with no reservations, there are hotel booking services on hand at most major train stations and airports. These booking services can generally find you a place to stay, even if the city is very full. For this service, they generally charge a slight fee, either an established fee or a percentage of the room charge. Hopefully you have learned a little more on how a trip to Europe does not have to as costly as you may have thought. Take the time a see if you can form a budget to get you that Europe trip.

    Traveling to high risk areas

If you must travel in an area where there has been a history of terrorist attacks or kidnappings make it a habit to: Discuss with your family what they would do in the event of an emergency. Make sure your affairs are in order before leaving home. As noted earlier, it’s a good idea to register your travel with the Department of State. Remember to leave a detailed itinerary and the numbers or copies of your passport or other citizenship documents with a friend or relative in the United States. Remain friendly but be cautious about discussing personal matters or your itinerary. Leave no personal or business papers in your hotel room. Watch for people following you or "loiterers" observing your comings and goings. Keep a mental note of safe havens, such as police stations, hotels, and hospitals. Formulate a plan of action for what you will do if a bomb explodes or there is gunfire nearby. Let someone else know what your travel plans are. Keep them informed if you change your plans. Report any suspicious activity to local police, and to the nearest U. S. embassy or consulate. Select your own taxicabs at random. Don't take a vehicle that is not clearly identified as a taxipare the face of the driver with the one on his or her posted license. If possible, travel with others. Be sure of the identity of visitors before opening the door of your hotel room. Don't meet strangers at your hotel room, or at unknown or remote locations. Refuse unexpected packages. Check for loose wires or other suspicious activity around your car. Be sure your vehicle is in good operating condition. Drive with car windows closed in crowded streets. Bombs can be thrown through open windows. If you are ever in a situation where somebody starts shooting, drop to the floor or get down as low as possible. Don't move until you are sure the danger has passed. Do not attempt to help rescuers and do not pick up a weapon. If possible, shield yourself behind a solid object. If you must move, crawl on your stomach.

Traveling with a bump and or small children

Traveling pregnant is just a warm-up exercise for your life for the next few years. It's a peek into your future living with a 2- to five year old. You'll know the location of every restroom along your route! Then there's the moodiness - being bothered by everything, including but not limited to whining, crankiness, and cravings. And is there ever room for all the stuff you have to carry, much less for the actual people in the car? Seriously - if you must travel during a pregnancy, try to do it during the second trimester, when you're beyond the discomfort of the first, but before you've grown huge in those final weeks close to the baby's due date. Make sure there is enough room to be comfortable in the passenger seats, especially if you will be driving. This is the one time in your life that an upgraded rental model will be worth every penny of the expense! Use common sense - you need to see the family, but be smart. You might be thinking "it's my last chance to go without kids!" But it's best to play it safe. Plan a less - rather than more - ambitious trip. Keep your medical information readily at hand, find out where the local hospitals are along your route, and stay out of dangerous areas. Pack lots of extra snacks - finger foods and small drink containers. Experience tells me to suggest water as the beverage of choice - it tastes the same whether it's warm or cold, and it doesn't spoil. If it spills (and it will!) water doesn't stain or leave a sticky smelly residue that requires an immediate roadside stop for a complete change of clothes. You can even use a splash of it to clean up little messes as they occur. (You do have plenty of paper towels or tissues in the car, don't you?!?) Snacks? Cheerios (the original kind) are every mom's best friend - they aren't sticky or too sweet (inviting nausea) and they aren't so salty that they need to be washed down with lots of liquid (necessitating more potty pitstops). Even little children can "gum" Cheerios into mush and you won't worry constantly about choking hazards. Sharing? Don't count on it! Everybody gets their own stash. Vacuum the car daily....there will be crumbs everywhere! GET OUT OF THE CAR for meals - everyone needs to stretch occasionally for comfort and safety, and you need some civilization as you dine, even if it's just fast food burgers. Remember, too, that your pregnant self might recoil in horror from things that other people might find perfectly pleasant. This is especially true in the early stages of pregnancy. When my wife was ten weeks pregnant with our first child, we traveled to Florida in early February for a vacation to see relatives and the Super Bowl. We were eating sushi that came by on platter after platter (no raw fish, not that I was exactly craving it) when she began to get sick. After that, everything related to the sea - water, waves, you name it - made her nauseous. To say the least she was not happy. What a trip that turned out to be! My expectant son and daughter-in-law went to San Francisco and to Lake Tahoe afterward. They made a huge mistake driving to Napa Valley - they passed miles of "fragrant" cattle ranches that left her gagging and in tears. Every mother has gone through similar situations. Traveling with a toddler when you're expecting another baby is horrible. Our advice is: "Don't. It will just be exhausting." Unless you absolutely must do it, don't. My vice president's wife said to me one day, "Did you ever notice how helpful strangers can be when you're pregnant - 'Oh, let me get that door for you!' - versus how unhelpful they are when you're pregnant and have a child?" She will never forget staggering to the back of an airplane with a diaper bag swinging from her shoulder, trying not to whack anybody, while holding her tiny daughter's hand and wrestling a huge car seat that didn't fit front-ways in the aisle,. The other passengers and those wonderful flight attendants just watched!

    Traveling with pets

Sometime things happen and you need to leave right away. If you have pets, this can cause a major problem. What if no one is available to watch your pet? If you don’t want to leave you pet at a shady kennel where most dogs are kept in cages, you can simply take them with you; it’s easier than you would ever imagine. Most airlines allow pets. Some airlines even allow your pet to be carried onto the plain if it is small enough to put into a kennel that will easily slide under the seat in front of you. If the dog is too large, it will be kept in cargo which is temperature and pressure regulated just like the passenger area. It is imperative to make sure that your airline will make accommodations for your pet as there are a few discount airlines that will not. Especially if you buy your airline tickets online, call ahead to verify their policies. Each airline that accepts pets will ask you to make reservations for you pet ahead of time because they can only carry so many pets each trip. It is important to make these reservations as soon as possible to ensure your pet’s seat on the flight. Pets also require health certificates to fly. You can purchase one from your vet, but they only last for 10 days. If your voyage is longer, you will need to purchase another for the trip home. As mentioned before, your pet will need a kennel/carrier. These can be purchased usually for very cheap at your local pet store. They come with padded inside walls and in various sizes from extra small to extra large depending on your needs. You will have to be careful with your kennel purchase as there are some carriers that aren’t approved for airline travel and some that are. Be sure to ask the pet store workers for help if you need it. There is no need to tranquilize your pet, either. Air travel will put your pet to sleep just like it does you. The only thing that may aid your pet in travel is to crate train it. Otherwise, everything will be fine! Have fun traveling with your pet!

    Traveling with pets on airlines

People going on long vacations are often worried about leaving their pets alone. Well, if you love your pets like other members of your family, why not take your beloved pet with you? Traveling with pets can make your vacation much more exciting and it is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen your relationship with your pet. Pets tend to feel neglected when left alone and often develop inappropriate behaviors when they are left at home. Nowadays, traveling with your pets has become easier and widely acceptable, especially on airlines. However, this requires careful planning and advance bookings as most of the airlines allow a maximum of seven pets on a single flight. There are multiple travel options available with airlines to make sure your pets reach the destination safely and easily. For example Delta Airlines gives you the advantage of making your pet travel as carry-on baggage, checked baggage, or air cargo. Continental airlines also provide the similar options. As a safety measure check out the government regulations as you may be required to take a health certificate and proofs of vaccination too. It always ideal to select non-stop flights and travel during early morning or late at night when the temperatures are comfortable. It's important to check out what kind of pets are allowed to travel. For Example cats and dogs are the only types of pets accepted for travel on American Airlines whereas Delta Airlines allows pets such as dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs to travel in the same cabin you are traveling in . However, the passengers traveling with these airlines are have to make prior arrangements for taking the pets along. Another important point before making the reservation is to check for the destinations where you can travel with your pets and its equally important to ask for kennel dimensions to make your pet easily fit under the seatt in front of you. On the day of the flight, it is advisable that you do not feed your pet at least six hours before the flight to avoid motion sickness. Take away the water one hour before departure. Moreover, do not put food or water in the carrier as it may spill and create a mess. Most importantly do not ever use a tranquilizer before departure. Consult your veterinarian before giving any such medication and if desired, use the drugs recommended in the prescription. Lastly, pets should have proper identification. The dog tag should bear the owner's name, address, phone number and the name of the dog. Traveling with the little ones

My wife and I take frequent trips with our daughters across the country. The oldest is currently seven and the youngest just turned three. Needless to say it has been an adventure and learning process on every trip that we have ever taken. The seven year old has been to Vail colorado snow skiing. Germany on a weeklong siteseeing tour, and of course to the children's mecca Walt-Disney World in Orlando, twice. She is an experienced traveller in every sense of the word. She knows the airport shuffle as well as the in's and out's of custom's and cabs. Now the three year old is a totally different story. Since her arrival the budget has been more limited. Therefore her experience is listed to the standard beach week, trip to visit relatives in Houston, and of course Disney World. She is less acclimated and has a lesser temperment for spending times in planes, trains, and automobiles. She is a squirmer to say the least. Now making a roadtrip with both of these diverse individuals takes planning and intent on my wife and I's part. We have to plan our stops and the total travel time that we are going to experience. We must avoid the naptime for changes of venues. No airlines from 1:00 to 3:00 as the three year old is sleeping during this time. We must plan to have adequate restroom breaks and stop to take them even when all is proclaimed to be well by the vehicles inhabitants. A three year old can turn in a minute from not needing to use to the bathroom to having a full emergency. Speaking of an emergency, during our trip to Vail, and snowskiing. My daughter came down with an ear ache. So when you are traveling make sure that you always carry adequate medical information with you. We had to call my daughters doctor at home to fax her records to the doctor in Vail. This delayed a full day of skiing for my daughter as well as us while we waited on the documents. While taking a long car trip to visit relatives in Mississipi my three year old who was at the time two, decided that a crying fit was in order. She screamed all the way to the Mercede's museum. We took about a two hour break and walked around siteseeing, the whole time she was just glad to be out of the car seat. While it is not a problem for adults to sit for hours on end, two and three year olds need adequate playtime to exercise their legs. So in short when planning to travel with little ones always plan time to take stops. Make sure that you have adequate documentation, and have great humor in the situations that arise. Traveling with young children to disneyland 12 things you must take with you

Unless you live right near Disneyland then when you organize your holiday, you know that it means you are going to have to take into account how to get there. There are two issues that you need to deal with. The first is what transportation method you’ll use and the second is how you will keep your young children amused on the way. There is no denying that traveling with children is a whole new test of your parental ingenuity. Do the scout/girl guides thing and be prepared with backups and lots of distractions. Who knows maybe by following these tried and true tips you’ll arrive triumphant at the other end…OK, maybe not triumphant but perhaps you’ll manage to keep your cool the whole way and that is something! Here are 12 things you need to carry with you and not in the trunk or luggage hold: 1. A change of clothes for each child and socks (it can get cold on airplanes and the socks provided don’t come in any size other than big). 2. Extra clothes for you in case of spills. 3. Tissues (can you ever have too many where young children are concerned?), a few empty plastic bags (to contain any smelly nappies and dirty clothes) and a face washer. Take a Ziploc bag for the face washer so that when it’s wet, not everything else in your bag gets damp. 4. Variety of snack food (cereal, sultanas, crackers, fruit etc) in Ziploc bags. If you’re on a plane, the food never comes quickly or often enough and if you’re in a car, you can guarantee a child will be hungry 15 minutes after you departed. 5. Drink bottles – disposables are handy but sometimes having the comfort of a familiar drink bottle makes it worth taking your child’s with you. It depends a bit on the child and how adept they are at drinking from a regular bottle. 6. A new toy for each child – something they haven’t seen before and won’t see until you get going and they start to get restless. Make it something that isn’t noisy, doesn’t take batteries (or if it does, take some spares), that they can interact with, that doesn’t require your involvement to put it back together if it falls apart and that isn’t made up of a million pieces that can get lost down the back of the seat. A tall order I know but I can tell you from experience that it’s worth spending a bit of time choosing something that fits the bill. 7. A couple of books, preferably one or two new ones. 8. Balloons – they don’t take up much space and are perfect for that transit stop that seems to take forever. There is nothing like a child chasing a balloon to make everyone feel that bit better and lighter about life. The other thing to do with balloons is to blow them up and then let the air out slowly with the opening directed at the child. My children love this. They squint and turn their faces away and then double up with laughter and shout ‘more, more’. Again this may require a bit of discretion because the noise of an exhaling balloon can be loud and well, unbecoming. 9. Bubble mix – another space saver that works a charm. Best saved for outdoors. 10. Drugs. I’m going to get controversial here as I know this isn’t a choice everyone is comfortable with but drugs to help children sleep, especially on long haul flights, can be an absolute lifesaver – for you and the child. Taking children across many time zones in a steel capsule with an uncomfortable chair for a bed isn’t their choice for a good night’s sleep, so make it easier for them by helping them to get some rest. It means you will all arrive in better shape. 11. A favourite toy or sleep buddy (preferably something small) can be an enormous comfort to an over-tired or stressed child. 12. And lastly don’t forget to take something to read for yourself. You never know they may sleep or watch a movie and you could be left wondering what to do with yourself. Nothing too ambitious or bulky. A magazine or short story should do the trick What should you put it all in? If you have to do any walking, a daypack is best because it won’t slip off your shoulders, leaves both hands free and has lots of compartments so you can find things, like your wallet, in a hurry. If this list sounds like a lot to you, believe me when I say that being prepared can make all the difference between a never-ending ordeal and an unusual, possibly pleasurable way to pass time. Happy traveling!

Travelling through south america lima rio de janeiro and buenos aires

South America is home to lands of fierce mountainous beauty, traces of ancient civilisations, superb tropical coastlines, alluring food and music, and pulsating festivals - in short everything your need for the ultimate travel experience. Lima Peru's sprawling capital sits in the center of the country's desert coastline. It's a grimy, polluted place but one of charm and friendliness with a wealth of compelling architecture and great museums. Transport:getting there and getting away Lima's Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chбvez services most international and domestic flights. The airport is best served by taxi as buses tend to be crowded. Buses connect Lima with Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador as well as all over Peru. They are slow and can be uncomfortable. Ocean liners berth at Lima's port of Callao. Lima is a sprawling congested city and public transport is disorganised. Taxis are plentiful but unregulated. Fares must be negotiated which is difficult if you don't speak Spanish and taxis can be dangerous. Micro and combi buses are cheap and the destinations are placed in the windshield. This makes things difficult if you're not familiar with the city. Lima is not pedestrian-friendly owing to congestion and pollution. Walking is only advised within neighbourhoods. Between neighborhoods a taxi is necessary. Climate Hot and humid all year round with little rainfall. Accommodation:from cheap stays to luxury resorts Check on the internet for the range, location and cost of Lima hotels Events:what's on and what's hot *Semana de Lima between 12-19 January celebrates the founding of Lima in 1535. *Carnaval is celebrated on the last few days before Lent with music, dancing and water fights. *Semana Santa in March-April is marked by processions throughout the city. *Independence is celebrated on 28-29 July. Large rock concerts are popular around this time. * Festival of Santa Rosa de Lima is on 30 August at the Santa Rosa Monastery. Rio de Janeiro Rio sits between imposing mountains and the glorious beaches washed by the warm waters of the Atlantic and is a true hedonistic heaven. The rhythm of the samba is rarely absent from this city in which every day is a celebration. Transport:getting there and getting away Flights connect Rio with all of Brazil and Latin America, as well as many other major cities. Buses depart for most destinations from Novo Rio Rodoviaria. City buses are often crowded and struggle through Rio's traffic. Rio has an excellent, air-conditioned subway system but it only covers points north of Botafogo. Accommodation:from cheap stays to luxury resorts Check on the internet for the range, location and cost of hotels in Rio de Janeiro Events:what's on and what's hot *Carnaval is the five-day internationally-famous extravaganza beginning at midnight on the Friday before Ash Wednesday. Dancing, parades, head-dresses and flaunted bodies make up this unforgettable spectacle. *The Fiestas Junina's is celebrated in public squares throughout June. *August 15 sees music, colorful stalls and a parade celebrating the Festa de NS da Gloria do Outeiro. *Festa da Penha is one of the largest religious festivals in the city. Travelling through the uk cardiff edinburgh and glasgow

It can be easy to forget there's much more to the UK than just England. In fact, any true understanding of that island nation requires visits to the Celtic realms of Wales and Scotland. Cardiff Capital of the principality of Wales, Cardiff grew up as a port for the shipping of iron and coal from nearby Welsh valleys. Now it's cast off its grim history as a rough seaport to become a green and stately city with pedestrian shopping quadrants, statued squares and a large and well-preserved castle. Cardiff also features a strong sporting and cultural presence. Sporting events such as the national sport of Rugby Union are played at the new Millenium Stadium. The Welsh National Opera now performs at the Wales Millennium Centre, Wales' palace to arts and culture. Transport:getting there and getting away Cardiff International Airport is about 12 miles from the city. It connects with various destinations in the UK and continental Europe. Direct trains connect Cardiff with London, Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham and others as do national coach services. The city has an effective bus system and the city's flatness make it perfect for cycling. There are also two kinds of taxis - the black and white prowl the streets looking for fares and other colours which have to be booked. Climate Typical for the UK though Cardiff's coastal location tends to temper extremes of temperature. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 30°C and winters rarely fall below freezing. Accommodation:from cheap stays to luxury resorts Check on the internet for the range, location and cost of Cardiff hotels cheaperthanhotels. co. uk/United-Kingdom/Cardiff/ Events:what's on and what's hot * St David's Day on March 1st is the national day of Wales. If features a parade* The Big Weekend is probably the most active Cardiff festival. Held on the last weekend in July, masses of people swamp the city hall area to enjoy the carnival events and fun fair atmosphere. * Mermaid Quay Cardiff Harbour Festival at the end of August features family fun with a nautical theme. Edinburgh Edinburgh's rich and storied history has endowed Edinburgh with a beguiling medley of medieval, Gothic Georgian and contemporary styles overlaid with an uniquely Scottish ambiance. Capital of Scotland since 1437, Edinburgh is crowned with its castle. But for all its history it's a lively place with museums and galleries, night-life, great restaurants and shops, and an scintillating programme of events throughout the year. Transport:getting there and getting away Direct flights link Edinburgh with cities in England, Wales, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Scandinavia and various countries in Europe. Trains connect Edinburgh with a range of destinations from the spanking-new Edinburgh Train Station Transport around Edinburgh can be summed up in the two words buses and bicycles. Climate: Edinburgh has a temperate climate despite its northern location. The weather is generally mild though subject to winds gushing in from the south-west. Summers in Edinburgh are blessed with long days and it's often sunny though rain can sweep in out of the blue. Winters are chilly with short dark days. Accommodation:from cheap stays to luxury resorts Check on the internet for the range, location and cost of Edinburgh hotels cheaperthanhotels. co. uk/United-Kingdom/Edinburgh/ Events:what's on and what's hot *Edinburgh International Festival in August is one of the world's largest and most important arts festivals. The Fringe Festival runs in tandem. There are performances in venues all around the city. *Also in August is the Edinburgh Military Tattoo held on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. Bagpipes wail and kilted regiments strut in this Scottish extravaganza. *New Year's Eve, known as Hogmanay in Scotland, is celebrated with gusto in Edinburgh with concerts, street parties an a large bonfire on the hill. Glasgow Over the last 20 years, Scotland's largest city has cast off its roughhouse reputation to become a revitalised centre for commerce, tourism, and culture with excellent parks, museums and shopping. Now the city offers everything from curling to opera and ballet, and from football to art appreciation and symphonies. Transport:getting there and getting away Glasgow International Airport is 10 miles west of the city and Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 30 miles to the southwest. Buchanan Bus Station is the center for all long-distance bus services. Glasgow's Central Train Station serves Southern Scotland, England and Wales and Queen St Station serves the north and east of Scotland. Glasgow has a fine public transport system with a subway, trains and buses, and taxis are abundant. Climate: The weather in Glasgow is milder than the rest of Scotland owing to its position. It gets the Gulf Stream current up the Clyde Estuary. Plus, the humidity resulting from its location in the Clyde Valley helps to warm the area. Accommodation:from cheap stays to luxury resorts Check on the internet for the range, location and cost of Glasgow hotels cheaperthanhotels. co. uk/United-Kingdom/Glasgow/ Events:what's on and what's hot * January sees the two-week Celtic Connections music festival. * February is the time of the City of Love festival which celebrates St Valentine. * Glasgow's biggest arts event is the two-week West End Festival of music in June. Travelling to orlando with children

: Obviously for those travelling by car, you will have plenty of activities at hand to amuse the children and play plenty of games e. g. spying certain colours of cars etc. For those of you flying a small bag for each child to carry on board with their favourite books/colouring pads/playing cards. Most airlines offer young flyers an activity pack to help amuse them and of course there are the in flight movies - often including a children’s option and sometimes a dedicated children’s channel. Plan ahead and order a child’s meal when you book your flight. Children will be more likely to eat if it is something that appeals to them. On arrival make sure you comply with the law having your children safely strapped into your rental car - whether it is just by wearing the existing seatbelts or if you need to rent a child car safety seat. Where to stay? For the same price as a single hotel room you could rent a very spacious condominium or small vacation villa where everyone has their own individual bedroom, there is a lounge in which to relax, a kitchen where juices and snacks are available 24/7, plus a patio/balcony or pool terrace. Just think the children could have a room of their own to watch all their favourite programmes while you relax in the lounge to watch an alternative programme or just to sit and read a book undisturbed. If you have very young children, it is great to be able to put them down for a nap in a completely separate room. Try renting a privately owned vacation home… Many of the privately owned homes cater well for children and most offer a crib/cot, high chair and sometimes even a stroller for you to use FREE OF CHARGE during your stay. Naturally, if you visit Orlando with children, Walt Disney World will probably feature high on your list of “things to do”. All the theme parks are extremely child friendly. If you do not have a stroller, they are available for hire at the entrance to the parks. All rides have clearly written signs saying suitable age/height restrictions. For those with very young children, they offer a service whereby one parent can go on a ride (perhaps with an older child) then come off and swap with the other parent who was holding the baby - all without the second parent having to join the end of the queue again. All restaurants - both full-service and counter-service cater well for younger tastes/appetites.

There are also Baby Centres clearly marked in each of the parks for feeding/changing very small babies. Be assured after a busy day at a park, it is a delight to return to your own vacation condo/villa for a dip in the pool, a cool drink, some time on the computer or just to sit around chatting with all your friends and family and anyone has the added bonus of being able to go off to bed whenever it suits them, safe in the knowledge that their sleep will not be disturbed by everyone else chatting. Also you can toss your clothes into the washing machine in your vacation home - ready to put on again another day. Let’s be honest - this alone is a huge ‘plus’ when travelling with children!

Treat yourself to a luxurious beach holiday

Each year I put my all into my work and each year I decide ‘this year I am going to treat myself to a decent beach vacation’. Unfortunately, for some or other reason when it’s close to the end of the year and I need to work out all my plans I end up not having money or find some or other reason why my holiday must be delayed. It’s 2008 and this year I decided things will be different. Work all the time and no play are just not on anymore! This year I am going to have my special beach holiday - filled with summer sun, cocktails, beautiful sunsets and of course partying till the sun shines its first rays over the beach in the early morning. As I’m discussing my plans for my beach vacation, everyone questions me on where I want to go. I answer that question with my needs: 1. I want to be close to the beach - it’s a beach vacation afterall! 2. I want to be able to walk to the clubs and restaurants 3. I want to be able to actually see the beach from my balcony. After going through all the hotspots in the Western Cape, I finally decided on Camps Bay close to Cape Town. My friends always go on about Camps Bay and after some thorough research on the Internet, I quickly concluded that Camps Bay is exactly the place that would suit my every whim. Cape Town is the playground of the rich and famous, but along with that comes picture perfect beach vacations, people bronzing in the summer sun and long stemmed cocktails infused with colours and flavours! The apartment I found is perfect for my beach vacation - even better it’s laced with a romantic vibe so I can take the love of my life with and have an absolute blast! Beautiful Camps Bay ocean views, a private balcony, air-con, pool area, barbeque facilities - you name it they’ve got it. Best of all it’s one street away from the promenade where the streets buzz with people, the cafй’s entertain and the azure blue waters of the beach paint pictures on the sand. Because Cape Town is so full in December, I decided to book AND pay early - ensuring there’s no way for me to postpone yet another year. I can’t wait to go and explore the beautiful Cape and have lots and lots of summer fun! Isn’t it time you rewarded yourself for all your hard work too?

    Tricks for disney travel

Have you been planning for years to take that trip to Disney World. Are your kids are now at that special age where they still believe in the magic that is Disney. Have you saved up the cash and are ready for the trip of a lifetime. Then you need to learn a few tricks before heading off to Disney World and wasting much of your hard earned money. The first trick for the savvy Disney vacationer is to check on e-bay three weeks before the trip looking for park tickets. Never buy single day single park tickets. The park-hopper ticket is the way to go. This ticket will allow you change parks during the days of your vacation. You can leave one park and go to another to avoid the crowds. Get to the parks early in the day. Most families like to sleep in and enjoy a late breakfast. So even with the parks opening early in the day they are relatively empty first thing in the morning. Ride the park rides at the back of the park first. It may take a while to walk into the park but most other patrons stop at the first rides and ride those. As the park starts to fill they move to the back rides. Utilize this time to enjoy some of the popular rides at the back of the park and save your fastpass tickets. At the start of the day do not grab fast pass tickets, wait until the park starts to see more traffic. You need to be aware that there is a time limit on the frequency that you can grab a fast pass ticket. So you cannot obtain another fast pass ticket until the designated time, this time will be on your fast pass ticket. Use these sparingly to pick the choice rides. While you are waiting on your fast pass ticket time enjoy other areas of the parks. When you have to opportunity to pick up your next fast pass then do so immediately. Only at this point can you use the original ticket. Make sure that you carry a backpack with you into the park. This pack will serve you well during the day. You should pack in water, and drinks in amounts that are comfortable to carry. This will save you dearly during the day. The cost of drinks and supplies inside the park walls is extravagant. If you have two adults with you then you will need to team up to allow the kids to get signatures from the characters. Once you are ѕ of the way to a character one of the adults needs to go to the next line to wait for the character while the kids get the first signature. This will dramatically increase your time through the lines for characters. Make sure you carry a marker to place on your car for the afternoon return trip. The best marker that I have found is those that your local sports teams have for the cars. Virtually everyone has seen the car flag. Purchase two of these prior to the trip to display on your car. This will make it simple to find your car in the afternoon after a hard day in the parks. Finally, relax and enjoy your vacation. Disney is an exciting trip for you and the kids. If things don't go exactly as planned just let it go and enjoy. Charles Cater

Tricks that can make traveling by sea easier

Motion sickness is common to almost everybody. It is usually frequent to those who travel a lot, whether by land, air, or sea. The different forms of motion sickness are based on the kind of transportation that they employ. One of the most common kinds of motion sickness is the seasickness. It is usually characterized by a sensation of nausea and vertigo. People who experience seasickness are those who are not conditioned to travel by sea or who cannot stand the swaying motion of the boat brought about by the waves. Though, there are others who experience seasickness as soon as they step aboard, even if the ship is not yet moving or is in the dry dock condition. Basically, the results and effects of seasickness is not very alarming, except for those who have important matters to attend to while aboard a ship. This means that people who have duties in the ship will have the tendency of not performing their duties well if ever they get to experience seasickness. Causes of Seasickness Generally, people are conditioned to stay upright by maintaining the center of gravity within their feet. If motion is applied, the body tends to have visual confusion. Here, seasickness starts. Moreover, the irregular pressure on the bowels, wherein the diaphragm tends to move along with the movement of the ship, can also cause seasickness. With the advent of medical advancements, people can now cope up with seasickness through medications. These medicines have special components that normalize the condition of the body so as to adapt with the changes in the environment. Tricks to Deal With it Aside from medications, there are different ways how to cope up with seasickness. Here’s how: 1. Waves trigger seasickness. Most experts say that it would be better to focus one’s sight to the horizon. It would be better if people will not look at the waves because the motion that it entails will render more confusion on the body’s ability to keep the center of gravity on their feet. 2. Adults should be more prepared with medications that will help reduce seasickness. Studies show that seasickness is more prevalent in adults than children below 12 years old. Particularly, cases of seasickness are higher in females. According to the statistical reports, there are seven cases of seasickness in females and only one in males. 3. When sleeping, people should lie on their backs. 4. People who are prone to seasickness should stay where the fresh air is available. Indeed, seasickness is not a problem if people will know how to cope up with it.
