    Roush 600re

Roush have developed this strictly llimited edition of the Ford GT to mark the end of production for the American supercar. The vehicle was designed and is built at the Roush Technical Centre based in Brentwood, Essex. The 600RE is based on a standard Ford GT, but features engine and styling modifications, these include: * Upgraded supercharger pulley system * Unique vehicle numbering and identity plaques * Unique keyed light pack * Tubi exhaust system * Tinted windows * Transmission oil breather system * Colour coded hoses * Black powder coated wheels * (Optional) 4-point harness pack Power and price figures have not yet been released, but the 600RE hints at a figure of 600bhp. Only 10 Roush 600RE's will be built, so you'd better get that order in quick! In my eyes the Ford GT is the ultimate Ford and Roush have done the job of making what was already a pretty special car into something seriously unique not to mention fast! Roush's attention to detail on all their cars is a real credit to the company and this particular model is no exception. Many after market car manufactures just fettle the engine to get it to produce lot's more horse power than the original but Roush take it much further than that, they always provide the complete package with modifications to pretty much every part in the drive train. This version of the GT looks awesome with it's black paint and black wheels, making the car look rather stealthy that is until you open up the throttle! It will be interesting to see the proper power and price figures when they are released, not sure I will be able to afford one but I can dream. I think it's a shame Roush only plan to make 10 of these cars, they clearly want to keep it seriously exclusive but I think the demand for these cars is going to be huge just as it is for the standard Ford GT. You can check out a picture of this awesome car at fastcarsinfo/news

Rules and regulations governing vehicle number plates

In 2001 the laws governing the display and supply of replacement number plates were greatly changed in order to tackle the problems of false plates and mis-spaced or illegible number plates. False plates are a problem to the police as criminals use them while committing crimes so that cctv camera footage is useless and illegible or mis-spaced number plates create problems for speed cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems used by the DVLA and congestion charging schemes. Since the introduction of the new legislation all number plate suppliers have had to register with the DVLA and must put their name and postcode on each plate manufactured to enable traceability of every number plate. The supplier must inspect an approved type proof of entitlement and also approved proof of identity supplied by the customer and keep a record of both to be kept available for inspection by the police or trading standards officers. Failure to supply the above documents to the supplier will be met with a refusal to make up the number plates. The layout and materials of number plates are also specified in the legislation , and must comply with british standard BS AU 145d which governs the reflectivity and durability of the materials. There is only one font which is legal and characters must be 79mm high and 50mm wide. The gaps between each figure must be 11mm except for the gap between the two blocks of digits which must be 33mm . There should be a minimum gap at the top , bottom and sides of 11mm. Europlates are allowed with a choice of flags such as St Georges Cross , Saltire , Union Jack, or Red Dragon. This legislation at present does not seem to apply to suppliers based in N. Ireland although there are plans for it to be made law there as well .

Rules of the road cb style

CB radios are the most prominent way that trucking companies keep in contact with their trucks on the road. Truckers depend on this way of communication not only for their livelihood, but also to pass the time on those lonely roads in the dead of night. However, with CB radios come a few guidelines as well as warnings for usage. At one time, the airwaves were monitored diligently, but as more and more CB users, in trucks and passenger vehicles, hit the roads, that task became near to impossible. So, the Golden Rule applies somewhat to CB usage. You treat others on the airwaves as you would like to be treated. Think before you speak. Wouldn’t everyone benefit from this advice? Seriously, truckers and trucking companies are not the only ones that use CB radios. Many people utilize the CB airwaves every day from police officers and peace keepers to the normal, average person. That means even children could be listening. So watch your words and avoid excessive or foul language. What you say is a reflection on not only you, but the trucking company you represent. Don’t get taken for a ride. There are numerous people on the airwaves and some have a dozen sob stories to fit the conversation at hand. Others have a really “great deal” on some merchandise and would you be interested? Then there are those that want to meet you somewhere to “get to know you better.” Be careful of those situations, because more often than not, there is trouble. Use your common sense and don’t believe everything you hear. Use the CB radio wisely. CB radios are useful tools for truckers, travelers and trucking companies. When you see an accident on the road, the CB can be used to alert the proper authorities in case someone needs medical attention. Truckers benefit from reported traffic problems by altering their route to avoid any delays. CB radios have also kept many truck drivers awake on the road too. For the most part, you have to worry only about yourself when it comes to the CB radio – the Golden Rule and all that! Take it for what it is – a handy tool that is needed for you to carry on with your job. Remember too that you represent your trucking company out there on the road, so be cognizant of that every time you use the CB radio.

    Rv insurance

Something you have to consider when buying an RV is the insurance cost, there are many factors which can influence this price. If you know what the insurers are looking for you may be able to get this price to a minimum. One of these factors is the place you are keeping the RV when not in use. If you were to leave it in Florida during a hurricane season then this may be prone to damage so the insurance company will want to compensate for that. They would do this by charging you a higher premium. It may be beneficial to keep your RV in a different zip code in order to lower your premium, always check beforehand with the person handling your application. When you apply for the insurance be sure to be 100% truthful as you will only save a few hundred dollars if that and this could cost you thousands in the unfortunate event of a claim. Any discrepancies will make your insurance void and you will be liable for any repairs. If you register with the RV association you will get many perks from discounted park fees to a discount on your insurance premium which comes in handy. Discuss any memberships with the agent going through your application to see if they make you eligible for discounts. You can usually set the excess payment you contribute in the event of an accident, the higher the voluntary excess the lower your premium will be. You have to be careful and not get carried away because in the event of an accident there is no alternative, you will have to pay the excess you agreed on signing up to the policy. Your age and driving history plays a huge factor when it comes to insuring a motor home. If you have had a clean accident free history then you will be able to get a huge discount compared to if you have had an accident in your younger years. Another big factor that every single insurance company will look at is your credit history, if you have defaulted on payments in the past this can make the premium higher as you may seem liable to default again in the near future. There are many different ways in which you can lower your premium which you should discuss with the agent dealing with your application in order to get the lowest policy possible.

S80 and c30 volvo s entrants to auto shows

Despite the fact that we are still in the early parts of 2006, there had already been many auto shows not only in the United States but in other countries as well that featured the most captivating and the most promising production vehicles. These auto shows also became the venue for automobile manufacturers to show off their concept vehicles. Volvo has made sure that their company would not be left out when it came to this large showcase of exemplary vehicles. During the Geneva Auto Show, the company’s entry was the 2007 Volvo S80 which is already a production vehicle. The 2007 Volvo S80 is a luxury vehicle and it basically competes with the likes of the Audi A6, the Acura RL, the BMW 5 series, and the Lexus ES 350. Although it is already in production, this vehicle would start to be on sale come the first quarter of next year. The Detroit Auto Show became the venue for Volvo Cars to show off the Volvo C30 which was introduced as a concept vehicle. However, the company already is producing this vehicle so much so that it would be available for sale at around the same time as the Volvo S80. Most likely, this vehicle would be competing with the Mini Cooper, the Scion xB, the Golf GTI, and the Audi A3. It roams around looking like a modern sport hatchback. The safety features of the 2007 Volvo S80 is still like the typical ones that Volvo equips with vehicles. It is an elegant vehicle yet the company claims that it would not be elitist. Although this vehicle has already been in production since 1999, come 2007, the new version would come with minor upgrades like its new front fascia that appears to have more curves, a sleeker appearance, as well as a sportier aura. The Volvo C30 is already set to be introduced as a production vehicle during the Paris Motor Show. This vehicle was primarily designed so as to attract and bring in the young and active people from urban areas. The safety features are still just right for Volvo standards however this new one comes with a sporty touch yet provides a much more fashionable appeal. Meanwhile, any Volvo vehicle deserves excellent maintenance for it to offer its best with regards to functionality, performance, and durability. If there is a need for Volvo parts, there are a couple of trusted auto parts dealers like Volvo Parts and Used Volvo Parts that offers quality Volvo parts. Some of the most popular Volvo parts offered include specially crafted Volvo S60 parts, and Volvo S80 parts.

    Safe vehicles safer passengers

With all the upgrades to passenger vehicles in recent years you'd think the number of injury accidents would be on the decline. Most vehicle manufacturers have included both active and passive safety features to their cars in an effort to make them safer. For example, Nissan offers pipe-style steel side-door guard beams to absorb the impact of a side collision and Isuzu offers head-curtain side-impact air bags. Many vehicles also offer active safety features in an effort to help drivers prevent accidents such as antilock braking systems, automatic dimming rearview mirrors, and tire pressure monitoring systems. It is the combination of all of these active and passive safety features that make vehicles considerably safer for occupants than they've been in the past. But do they make us better drivers? According to a study completed by Purdue University, the answer is no. Published in the Journal of Risk Uncertainty, the study suggests that drivers of "safe" vehicles (eg. – vehicles that are loaded with the best passive and active safety features) are just as likely to get into accidents and sustain injuries as drivers who were driving "less safe" cars. How can that be? It actually has nothing to do with the cars or the safety features – it has to do with the way we drive. Researchers analyzed motor vehicle data from 1992 to 1997 in Washington State and found no marginal difference between the number of accidents or the level of injury to the drivers between the safer cars and those that weren't considered as safe. Why? Fred Mannering, Ph. D. and the study's author explains that people who know their car's safety features reduce their risk of both accident or injury at a given speed will drive faster to return to the original level of risk. Sounds crazy? It's not. The psychological phenomenon is also referred to as "risk homeostasis." Psychologists analyzed a similar vehicle/road safety phenomenon in both Sweden and Iceland. When the Swedish changed to right hand traffic from left hand traffic in 1967, there was an immediate and significant reduction in the country's traffic injury rates and fatalities (studies have shown that right hand traffic is indeed safer than left hand traffic). However, within two years, the injury and fatality rates returned to their original levels. Why? The answer is in the perceived risk of the individual drivers. The change from left to right had an effect on how drivers drove. It increased their level of perceived risk and caused them to be more cautious while driving. The increased caution reduced the number of road crashes for almost two years. But people began to realize that the roads were less dangerous than they thought and because the risk of being injured in an accident had declined, they became less cautious in how they drove and the number of accidents began to climb back to the original number. When Iceland changed over to right hand traffic in 1968 it experienced a similar short term fluctuation in the rate of road crashes. So what does this all mean? It means that despite the upgrades in safety equipment in today's cars and SUVs, it's important that we, as drivers, do not rely on the safety systems of our vehicles (and those driven by other drivers) to keep us safe. First and foremost, the decisions made by the driver (to speed, to run a red light, to cut in and out of traffic lanes) impact whether or not he/she will be involved in an accident and every accident runs the risk of injury to the people involved.

Safety and reliability of our vehicle s steering we owe a debt to early hot rodders and auto racers

We owe a debt of gratitude to early “hot rodders”. Those who modified and raced cars in their day pushed along the development and evolution of cars and vehicle steering mechanisms so now we can count on precise, safe and reliable steering mechanisms and units without question. It is always interesting that is usually not the factory design teams, with all their resources, that push along developments and modifications in the automotive industry. It is often the hobbyist, the guy in his home garage, who under competition leads to the development and progression of what becomes improvements and modifications in the automotive. At a later point the automotive industry will step in to mass produce the improvements into features and options that gain widespread use in our vehicles and on our highways. Just before and after the 1940’s vintage car periods most sport car enthusiasts and hot rodders were driving pre-1935 Fords. The most popular steering gears swapped among speed and hot rod enthusiasts was the pre-1934 Ford steering gear units. It had a very fast steering ratio and could easily fit the Model “A” and “32” car frames. Parts were readily available, the cars were lightweight and few rodders felt the need to look any further. By the early 1950’s, the 37’ - 1948 Ford steering mechanisms with the transverse drag arrangement gained popularity and a following over the previous preferences. The steering was a near perfect built in for 1935-36 Ford frames and its major advantage over the older units was it was self centering. After a turn in completed, the worm sector “floats” back to center. However if the steering was mounted normally in a pre-1935 chassis , a mount had to be built on the inside of the frame rail and boxing the frame was necessary to eliminate rail flexing.. Naturally since the pitman arm swung horizontally (cross steering) and was tied into the right front spindle. 1940’s era Ford spindles had to be used. But it was no big deal and the most “modern” rods of the era went this route, even to the extent of adding 1940 Ford steering wheels, shift linkage and dashboards. The “Gemmer” box was also turned on its side and mounted through the frame like the original. Usually a horizontal plate was welded on top of the rail to hold the steering, and the pitman arm was rotated 90 degrees so that it could be pinned up. A parallel drag link could then be used with a dropped front axle. But the evil bump steer was ever present. In the late Fifties, another steering box started to gain popularity with street rodders. This was the parallel drag line steering from the 1954 and later Ford and Chevy pickups. (The Ford F-100 being the most popular of all). To install the Ford box in a Model “T” frame it was easiest to run the column down thought the floorboard almost between the driver’s legs. Mounts for the gear box were fabricated and the pitman arm was modified to point straight down or was replaced with a new one flame cut out of half inch steel plate. Only minor modifications to the box itself were needed to bolt the pickup steering into the 1928-34 frames. The Ford pickup box became the standard hot rod steering gear for many years to come, but the Chevy pickup steering was the easier of the two to install. It required only minor frame trimming to fit, but it never reached the level of popularity of the Ford box. Then along came the time of the mid 60’s Dearborn introduced the Ford Mustang. The steering box of the Mustang car was a great toy for the hot rodders. This was the final step towards the evolution of steering gears. All in all although our steering mechanisms in our cars, SUVs, trucks and other vehicle are now of more modern designs we owe a debt of gratitude to the hot rodders of their day for pushing along the evolution of precise and reliable steering gears and mechanisms for our vehicles.

Safety considerations when buying fast cars

According to studies, fast cars are more often involved in road accidents compared to other types of cars. People who drive their fast cars almost to the limits sometimes lose control of their cars that they end up either skidding off the road, get into collision with other vehicles and other forms road accidents. However, the good news is that although fast cars are often involved in road accidents, these incidents are not really much related to the technical defects or the overall set-up of the vehicle itself. Experts believe that fast cars are actually built to perform well on the road but the driving skills of the people behind the wheels may not be at par with the power of the fast car. In most cases, the drivers of fast cars overestimate their driving skills and end up losing control of their cars. Since accidents do happen, it is therefore very important to drive carefully and never abuse the power of your fast car. Furthermore, before you do buy cars, you should check out the safety features of the car thoroughly. Safety Features That You Should Look For In Fast Cars The first thing that you need to check when buying fast cars is the safety features. Your car should have antilock braking systems (ABS). The ABS will allow you to stop your car fast. Good ABS will help you deal with certain tight situations on the road. During panic stops, the ABS will allow you to steer you car and prevent any untoward incidents. To learn more about the ABS of fast cars, ask your car dealer to explain to you in details how this feature works. You may also ask the car dealer to demonstrate how the ABS works so that you will have a concrete idea of how your car will perform in tight situations. Aside from the ABS, you should take a closer look into the traction control of the fast car. This feature will help prevent traction loss while your car is speeding. This feature can be very helpful especially during extreme weathers and when you are driving at top speed in some winding roadbined with the ABS, the traction control will help you keep your car stable on the road even during bad weathers. However, since this feature do have its own limitations, driving slowly and carefully during extreme weather conditions is still very much advisable. Never for one moment think that because your car have good safety features, you can still drive fast even during extreme weather conditions. On the other hand, since accidents do happen, it always pays to check the airbag features of the fast car before you buy it. Look for airbags at the front and side of the car. Knee airbags are also very important.

Safety instructions before using vehicle lifts

Lifts are used to raise a vehicle on a stable platform, allowing automotive mechanics unrestricted access to inspect and repair the underbelly, transmission and wheels of the vehicle. Multiple vehicle lifts are standard equipment in most auto repair shops. In addition, some automobile enthusiasts install lifts in their homes for vehicle storage. Prior to 1920, only service pits were available for repairing and doing preventive maintenance on the undersides of vehicles. The hydraulic auto lift was invented in the 1920’s to reduce the time and equipment needed to hoist vehicles off the ground. Depending on the design used,.today’s vehicle lifts can raise up to 50,000 pounds and can cost between $9,000 and $45,000. Installation not included. In the beginning, there were no industry standards and vehicle lifts varied in design and construction. After World War II, there were only fifteen auto lift manufacturers in the United States. They recognized the need to develop standards to guide the industry. In 1947, the U. S. government issued its first set of standards. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration developed its own regulations in 1974. Today, there are three major manufacturers of heavy lifts: Mohawk Resources Ltd. of Amsterdam, NY; Advantage Lift Systems based in San Diego, CA; and Rotary Lift in Madison, IN. Electric controls for lifts are standard, and lift features vary according to price and model. They vary depending on where they make contact with the vehicle, usually the axles, frame or wheels. They include single-, two-, four-post, and scissors lifts. The single - and two-post lifts are ideal for small trucks and cars. The four-post auto lift is used for most commercial and transit vehicles. The scissors lift saves space by having the posts in the middle of the lift, operating like an open pair of scissors. Over the years, the structure of the automobile body has changed. Vehicles previously built onto underbody frames are now being constructed into frameless or unibody styles. Lifts have evolved to better handle the structure of newer vehicles. Rotary, for example, has developed the three stage lift. It has three telescoping sections, giving it a greater range of extension and retraction than other lifts. As a result, it can reach a broader range of vehicle pick-up points. It has become the preferred lift of many vehicle manufacturers, including Honda, Volkswagen and Audi. Despite changes in the design of lifts over the years, many injuries and accidents occur annually. This is usually due to human error rather than any flaw in the lift design. The most simple things often lead to disaster. Auto mechanics sometimes fail to keep the lift area free of debris, grease/oil and obstructions. Not paying close attention when working around the lifts or allowing untrained individuals to use them are two more potential problems. Some forget to wear the right safety gear, including goggles, a hard hat, and steel toed boots. Proper use and maintenance of the equipment is essential. Blocking or overriding the controls is dangerous. The manufacturer's rated capacity is shown on the nameplate affixed to lift. Despite this, some mechanics use the lift to hoist vehicles that exceed the weight limit. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Mistakes made before the vehicle is lifted are accidents waiting to happen. The lift arms must be properly positioned before the vehicle is raised. If the center of gravity of the car is not on the center of the lift, cars may tip off. With some vehicles, removing or installing items may cause a critical shift in the vehicle’s center of gravity and result in instability. Mechanics should always refer to the lift manufacturer's recommendations. If there is not ample overhead clearance space, the vehicle may be crushed. Mistakes also occur when the transmission is not in neutral, doors are not securely closed or the ignition is not turned off. Some repairmen fail to lock the lift into place before going under it. Others raise the car while someone is inside the vehicle. Numerous accidents occur during the lifting process. The vehicle should be loaded on a lift carefully. Mechanics should ensure that the lift supports are in contact with the manufacturer’s recommended lifting points. When a secure contact is made, the lift can be raised to the desired working height. If work will be done under the vehicle, the lift should be raised high enough for its locking device to be engaged. Before lowering a lift, the mechanic should ensure that everything is removed from under the vehicle. Locking devices should be disengaged before the lift is lowered.

    Safety motorcycle helmets

Motorcycle helmet is used as a protective gear for the head to avoid severe injuries brought about by accidents. In some countries, wearing helmet is comparable to wearing seatbelts, regulated as part of the street ordinances as general safety measure. But of course, any promulgation imposed is debatable and others would drop the matter in every philosophical manner they can give reason against its use. Looking at the physical make-up of motorcycles will not guarantee pure salvation in every imaginable trauma. When used, it can only lessen the severity. To have an understanding on its function it is important to know how fatal head injuries can disable a person in one incident. When it comes to serious matters like heavy impact, a helmet is nothing. The most important thing about skull fractures is to avoid the fragments from embedding the sensitive tissues of the brain, until then, most head injuries are not as fatal as expected. Basically, a full-blown impact on head can lead to permanent malfunctioning of the body system. Another kind of fatal head injury caused by motorcycle accident is when the brain is stirred while there is no open wound in the head. In this case the brain bumps the side of the skull leading to small yet deadly movements and rotation enough to cause internal bleeding inside. The use of properly designed motorcycle helmet can help absorb the shock in the head after it sinks to its protective cushions. It must not be too soft to let the head crush through its hard interior walls at once. After that, the hard plastic will yield without control. Helmet design considerations are all about the tolerable impact the head can handle, which the soft linings provide as protection, and the exterior protection from punctures. Types of motorcycle helmets for effective use come in different appearance: FULL FACE - Covers the full area of the back of the head, chin but has a shield made of plastic in the eye area for visibility. It is usually ventilated though some still consider it warmer and lacking flow of air inside. It tends to isolate a rider and restrain hearing because of full head coverage. OPEN FACE - Almost the same as the full face design except it has no chin cover, which means it has low protection for the face. It has a plastic shield open to particles during a ride. It can cause injuries out of trapped small debris caught on speed. Thus, it is advisable to wear riding goggles as additional protection for the eyes. Motorcycle helmet may not give ultimate protection but it saved a lot of lives during minor injuries.

Save money on your next care at a repo car auction

It's been a used car dealers best kept secret for a long time. Repo car auctions were a place used car dealers could pickup several good used cars and/or trucks bring them back to their lot and sell them for a nice profit. While that is still the practice of some used car dealers it's easier now for the average joe to learn the ropes, and get his/her own deal on a repo car from the auction. Find the Information This can be the toughest part of the entire process. Discovering where and when auctions take place, and if you can or can't get into one is the first step. Your local town office may have information about repo car auctions in your area, also watch the news papers for notices of police or government surplus/repo auctions. These auctions will not only have cars and trucks but also other merchandise such as boats, atv's, and other motor vehicles. With the advent of information sharing on the Internet it's made it even easier to locate repo auctions. There are services set up solely for this purpose of providing info on auctions in your area as well as what items will be going up for auction. Where do the vehicles come from There's a variety of places cars can come from that are up for auction. More times then not they've been repossessed by finance companies, banks, the police and even the town or state. Most times cars and trucks at repo auctions are newer model years, with low mileage, and in good shape. Making it the perfect place for you to pick up your next new to you car. The best way to navigate the repo car auction circuit is to use a professional service that specializes in providing consumers information on auction locations, cars available etc. Understanding how to bid on a car you may be interested in, making payment if you win, and pickup are all items that should be posed to a professional. No question if you're willing to do a little bit of research you'll save a bundle buying your car from a repo auction rather then a used dealer. You could very well bid against the same person you'd buy the car from otherwise. Using a service to do your research online prior to heading out to locate an auction is ideal. You'll be able to see what similar cars have sold for at other auctions, and sometimes even place a bid online.

Save time shopping for a new or used car by browsing online first

The traditional car buying experience is often seen as an overwhelming task. But thanks to the Web, customers can save time and enter a dealership precisely knowing what they want to buy. How many times have you started the process by visiting different car dealerships? Purchasing a new or used car is a significant investment and you will hopefully be keeping your vehicle for awhile. You likely have certain features and options in mind, which will help narrow the scope of which models you will consider. But because you want to find the best car to meet your needs, the process can be intense and arduous. Many car companies and dealerships are posting their inventory online so you can search for a car to best suit your needs. If you begin with the website as your first step, when you walk into the dealership, you have a narrowed list of vehicles that have the features you want, in your price range and you don’t have to waste a lot of time driving around from one dealership to another. There are three different types of auto retail sites available for car buyers and each has its own unique advantages. The Coast-to-Coast Dealer’s Website When browsing online for your car, one of your primary concerns may be selection. CarMax is an online car dealership with a large inventory, located in several states across the country. When you visit the site, you enter the make, model, price range and other details for the type of car you want. You are asked to enter your zip code, and then given a list of available vehicles at locations near your zip code. You can compare models, pricing, features, mileage, and other details. If you aren’t sure what type of car you want, this is a good option to check out as many cars as possible in your price range. The Local Dealership’s Website The local dealership is probably the best option if customer service, in addition to selection, is important to you. The difference is similar to shopping at a large retailer versus the small specialty shop owned by a local family known for their contributions in the community. But whereas that small specialty shop may not have an inventory comparable to the big guys, the local dealership may not only offer a comparable selection of cars, but services that you won’t find at the larger auto retailers. Conklin Cars is a new and used car dealer with several locations in Kansas. When working with a dealership that has several locations, you have the advantage of a large inventory, and working with specialists at each location. Customers who have visited the Salina car dealer site, for example, can also visit the company’s Newton car dealership and Hutchinson auto dealer sites online or in person to compare models, features and pricing. But in addition to searching for cars based on brand, make, model, new, used, and even “building” the car you want, customers can also send questions to the dealerships’ parts and service technicians. Rather than running all over town to try and find the right part your car needs, or taking the car to a mechanic that may not be familiar with your car, you’ve got both covered at one location. This works well because it gives you a one-stop-shop option for not only purchasing your car, but care and maintenance after purchase. Other notable advantages of using a local dealership include better, low-pressure sales and customer service, in addition to unique services. At Conklin Cars, sales reps are trained to create relationships with customers for any of their car buying or car service needs. For example, customers can rent a vehicle from Conklin Cars, a unique feature of this local dealership not found at many auto retailers. Brand Name Shopping If you have a particular brand in mind, visiting the company’s main site is probably your best option. A manufacturer’s website will offer a comprehensive look at all of the company’s offerings. Saturn, for example, is known for its low-pressure, no-haggle pricing. Like most automotive brands, the site is quite comprehensive with a photo gallery of different models, pricing, features and other valuable information to help you make an educated decision on which one of their vehicles will best suit your lifestyle. Modern technology has created an opportunity for the car buyer to save much time, effort and stress when shopping. Depending on whether you want a vast inventory, a local resource capable of providing all of your car service needs, or you’re focused on one particular brand, beginning the car buying process online is a smart move. If you know your budget and enter the dealership with a clear decision on which cars you want to see, you’ve got the hardest part of the car-buying process covered, and all that will be left to do is make a decision and go through the paperwork.

Save yourself car payments undercoat your own car

Undercoating stops and prevents rust and keeps your car looking great. It’s recommended for those planning on keeping their vehicle more than a couple of years It is a thrifty job in two ways. You save the cost of having it done, and leave the body from rusting away. Undercoating is an extra dollar that an auto dealership often tries to load onto you when you buy a new car. But you need not dig into your pocket for this extra. You can do the job yourself at a total cost that is a portion of what an auto repair shop will charge you. Undercoating has two advantages. First and foremost, it will protect a card by preventing the rust that eats through a fender and through a car body. Secondly, sprayed or brushed into metal to metal cracks and crevices the black asphalt material will forestall many a squeak and rattle. Most people think of undercoating in connection with strictly a new car. However it is usually a job that pays dividends on a vehicle of any age. In fact it offers a means of curbing automobile metal rust that may have gained considerable headway on any used car or vehicle. If you decide to undercoat your car, do so before washing and polishing since some spillage may occur. First: Remove the Rust. Whether the car is new or old, all rust must be removed and the metal cleaned off before the undercoating goes in. Rust left under the coating would go right ahead with its damaging work. Work on the metal until it shines. Cleaning comes first. Getting the grime off can be the most difficult part of the procedure. Steam cleaning is probably the best way to prepare the car. If you can have this done. It will save you much effort and heartache. If not TSP (Tri Sodium Phosphate) can be used to loosen up the grease. A wire brush can be utilized. TSP is an inexpensive crystalline salt available at most hardware stores such as Home Depot or Rona. Mix the TSP degreaser with hot water and daub it on grease areas with a sponge or cloth. In doing this job it is important to know what to coat and what not to coat. Keep the material off moving parts, oil pan, brake lines, muffler, tail pipe, drive shaft etc etc. Apply it liberally, however under the fender and sills of the frame and under the floor. Under the fenders work it right out to the edge. To get under the fenders you will have to remove the wheels. Unless the support is very stable, remove only one wheel at a time. It never hurts to play it safe. Some undercoaters are inflammable, while wet. So work with good ventilation - and avoid smoking and open flames of course. Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, or many tons of salt in this case.

Saving gas can cost time but it doesn t have to

Gas prices yesterday, April 4, 2007, spiked to $4.00 per gallon in some parts of the United States. And the worsening, and seemingly untenable situation in the oil-rich Middle-East has some prognosticators heralding prices of $6.00 per gallon by year's end. Americans are, quite justifiably anxious, alarmed, and seeking more fuel efficient (cheaper) means of transportation. This has led to more and more people buying and driving smaller vehicles that deliver more miles per gallon. The first choice of Americans seeking more fuel efficient transportation seems to be the smaller, lighter somewhat traditional cars and trucks with more fuel efficient engines. Then come the hybrids, with their advanced systems of propulsion sharing. And finally, the scooters. Many scooters comfortably surpass the 50-miles per gallon mark on the charts, some by quite a lot. And they are available in a growing number of styles, sizes and configurations. With sales of scooters having more than doubled since 2000, companies like Yamaha and Honda are offering some truly luxurious and efficient selections to choose from. The Yamaha Morphous, Yamaha Majesty, Honda Silver Wing (and Silver Wing ABS), and Honda Big Ruckus attest to the range and luxury that is becoming available in scooters. Before we get to the point of this article, let's take a look at the fuel cost savings for a range of vehicles that includes scooter miles per gallon. The following annual fuel cost chart assumes that the driver goes 10,000 miles per year and that fuel costs remain constant at $3.00 per gallon. Miles Per Gallon Annual Cost 10 $3,000.00 15 $2,000.00 20 $1,500.00 30 $1,000.00 40 $750.00 50 $600.00 60 $500.00 70 $428.57 80 $375.00 The above chart leaves little doubt about the potential savings in fuel, when a driver opts to ride a 50-MPG scooter instead of driving a 15-MPG vehicle. But new scooter riders, as well as those buying smaller cars and trucks, are quickly discovering a problem that motorcyclists have had to cope with since the early 1960's. The vast majority of traffic signals are controlled by what are called "inductive loops." These are coils of wire buried beneath the road's surface at intersections. A small current is run through the wire, thus creating an electromagnet. When enough iron is present inside these loops, they send a signal to the light's controller that starts its cycle. In brief, the inductive loops trigger green lights – including green left turn arrows. When there is inadequate iron present inside the inductive loop, the green light does not trigger because the controller doesn't detect a need for the signal light to change. Motorcycles, scooters, small cars, small trucks and many 4x4 vehicles just don't have enough iron to trigger the green light. In the case of the 4x4s, there is likely enough iron, but it is too high above the road's surface for these weak electromagnets to detect. If a vehicle is traveling on a busy road, then there is likely to be no problem getting a green light to trigger. This is due to the presence of so many vehicles in each of the inductive loops at intersections during busy and peak traffic times. The problem of getting a green light to trigger occurs when the scooter, motorcycle or small vehicle is somewhat alone on the road – such as early in the morning or late at night. Riders and drivers can sit for quite some time waiting for another vehicle to come along and trigger the green light. But take heart – there's an easy solution: Signal Sorcerer® traffic light changer. This is a simple, one-piece unit that installs under the vehicle – be it a motorcycle, scooter, small car or truck. Everything needed for the installation comes complete with each unit. No tools or wiring are required, and installation takes about 3-minutes. The G4І traffic light changer unit sells for $19.95, and once installed, ensures that the parent vehicle will get detected by inductive loops and trigger a green light – thus ending the problem of sitting and waiting at traffic signal lights that fail to change – and the wasteful burning of that precious (and expensive) fuel. To learn a whole lot more about inductive loops and how to better trigger green lights (with or without a traffic light changer), visit signalsorcerer/. There's even a short video showing riders how to approach a traffic signal light on their motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters. How you pass over an inductive loop, apparently, affects your probability to trigger a green light. So, if you've made the leap to more fuel efficient vehicles, get all the benefits by installing a Signal Sorcerer® traffic light changer. There's no point sitting at those red traffic lights burning fuel – and wasting time – when there's a cheap, 3-minute fix. The Signal Sorcerer® G4І is available at 500 dealers throughout the United States and Canada, or at the following link: signalsorcerer/. Saving money on car insurance has never been so easy

When you need to get car insurance, the last thing that you want to do is spend a lot of time and effort to find a great insurance provider. If you are looking for every possible way to save money, here are some tips to help you in your penny pinching quest. 1. Take time to look around – Don’t go with the first automobile insurance company you find. The rates for insurance can be very competitive, and when you take the time to shop around you will be rewarded with a lower rate. 2. Increase your deductible – If you have a higher deductible, your monthly rates will be lower. You don’t always have to go through your insurance company especially for minor problems with an older vehicle or a fender bender with damage under $1,000. 3. Take caution – If your car is old and not worth a lot of money, there’s no reason that you have to carry the cost of collision insurance for your car. If you are in an accident, you won’t get anything for your car, but when you consider the fact that you are spending less money on your car insurance, that can put things into perspective. After all, the money that you saved can be used to buy your new car later on. 4. Examine your car – Let your car insurance company know if your car has extra security features such as a car alarm or if you use winter tires, because it may mean that you will get a better rate. Safety features reduce the likelihood of your vehicle being stolen or vandalized, offering increased protection and assurance to both you and your insurance provider, which can lower your rates. 5bine your policies – If you go with an insurance company that offers several types of insurance, you may be able to get a lower rate. There are plenty of insurance companies that will give you a break on your costs if you get all your insurance through them. Insuring your home or apartment along with your car can save you money every year. 6. Think before you buy – No matter how much you may want that expensive car, think about all of the costs associated with it. Hefty insurance payments are often not the only extra costs you will incur. Consider vehicle maintenance, gas and insurance as part of one package. So reconsider that expensive car when you are out shopping. 7. Go to back to school – If you have taken a driver’s education course, or plan on enrolling in one make sure that your car insurance company is aware of that. Make enquiries about which driving schools they recognize, in order to secure a decreased rate. It can help to save you a lot of money over time. 8. Past record – Protecting your good driving record is paramount to ensuring a good insurance rate. If you have had points taken from your driver’s license in the past, receiving a lower rate is more challenging. Points on your license will regenerate over a 3-5 year period, so don’t distress, but drive safely. Automobile insurance can be something that is costly, but it doesn’t have to be. If you do your homework and make sure that you know all your facts, you will find that you can get a good rate for your insurance. It just takes a little time to see what insurance company will be right for you.
