Why have a car sub woofer

Why Have A Car Sub Woofer? Why should you have a car subwoofer? First you need to learn what one is. Well a subwoofer is a speaker that is powered by an amplifier tuned in to and plays back low-frequency sound or bass. Subwoofers create low-frequency sounds and contain those low notes that are missing from most car stereo systems. They are heavily used in the streetcar-tuning scene; many cars out there have massive I. C.E (In Car Entertainment) installs. There is even a whole range of music designed to push subwoofers to their limits and give them a thorough workout. The genre is known as “the bass track”. The Many Types Of Car Subwoofer: Subwoofers are either passive or powered, with the passive systems drawing power off of the car’s head unit, and the powered systems have an independent powerline hooked up to them, usually right off the battery. Car subwoofers are mounted in boxes and placed in the boots or trunk of the car, or in other places such as the cars parcel shelf or the space beneath the car's rear window. Car subwoofers also vary dramatically in size, on average from 6.5 inches all the way up to 60 inches in the crazy monster subwoofer category. There are plenty of relatively inexpensive subwoofers that are available, however the car subwoofer is a bit of a luxury item, so buy the best you can afford. A Typical Car Subwoofer Setup: The car subwoofer is mounted in a box made of MDF usually, although some of them come in tubes, known as bass tubes. Typically they are hooked up to a single channel amplifier set with a low crossover to provide the bass tones. Independent amplification is necessary, because the amount of power subwoofers need, can be too much for the car’s standard audio equipment. Since the car subwoofer is usually mounted in a box, they can take up a lot of room. If you want to fit a subwoofer you must be ready to sacrifice a substantial amount of space in order to house this specialty item. However, there are systems these days that place the car subwoofer and unused nooks and crannies of the car, these are specially built pod’s if you like and can be found for most popular makes of car. Getting A Subwoofer Of Your Own: A car subwoofer is a must in the overall high-end I. C.E setup. It is wise to choose the best product that you can afford, and not sacrifice price for quality. However that said, because of the big business there is in car audio products and subwoofers in general you can often find a bargain. My advice would be to search on the Internet and the online auction sites and see what you can pick up.

Why hire a private detective to perform an accident reconstruction

Do you represent a client who is fighting with an auto insurance company? Are you trying to determine exactly which driver was responsible for causing an accident? If so, it is important to do more than just listen to eyewitness reports in order to perform an accident reconstruction: it's important to hire a private detective to investigate the reports and the accident to determine what really happened. Accident reconstruction is a process by which an accident is researched. A private investigator will review the stories from witnesses who watched the accident take place as well as those who were in one or more of the vehicles involved. In addition, the scene of the accident will be visited so that the information can be put into perspective. During the process of researching an accident reconstruction, the private investigator and his team will also review videotaped evidence if it's available and take photos and measurements of skid marks on the pavement – both those indicating braking and sliding to the side. Once all of the information has been collected and evaluated, the reconstruction of the accident can begin if it is found to be necessary. Accident reconstruction may not be necessary in the case of one car being rear-ended by another, but can make all the difference if the accident involves failed seatbelts or rolled vehicles. In the cases where accident reconstruction is necessary, it can be used to determine the rate of speed at which the involved cars were moving. It can also be used to consider the conditions of the road, the angle of impact and more – all of which can contribute to which driver was responsible for the accident. Because accident reconstruction can provide visual details of the scene rather than just testimony, it can prove to be a particularly valuable resource when you are asked to prove a case for your client. However, that doesn't mean that you should conduct the accident reconstruction on your own. A private investigator can take the information that you have about the accident, access additional information at the scene and make the time to talk with witnesses while the accident is still fresh in their minds. Private investigators who are skilled at accident reconstruction are able to do the research, manage the information and work with software and engineers to accurately recreate the accident – and what led up to it. Whether your work involves representing someone who was in an accident or a member of their family or your work involves determining whether or not the individual has a case, accident reconstruction is a tool that you can use to prove your case. You can be sure that the insurance companies will take advantage of accident reconstruction to determine whose responsibility the accident was; why give them an unfair advantage? Hire a private investigator so that you can be sure of what really happened – so that you too can take advantage of accident reconstruction, determine responsibility for an accident and get your clients the benefits that they deserve.

Why wax when you can seal

Waxes and sealants both provide valuable protection and enhance the shine of your vehicle’s paint. Waxes have long been the dominant form of protection but they are being replaced by new synthetic sealants. Sealants and waxes are both great products and knowing the differences between them can help you select what product or combination of products works best for you. Waxes are primarily made from properties found in nature like carnauba wax. Waxes have fine water molecules in them, which make them more sensitive to heat than sealants. Once the clear coat temperature reaches 125 – 200 degrees the moisture inside the wax starts evaporate and the wax will melt, leaving the paint without protection. If a wax is melting it becomes soft and contaminates in the air can settle in the wax. As the wax cools the contaminates can become trapped in the wax. Natural waxes will generally protect your vehicle from 2 – 14 weeks. If you apply a wax to a dark colored vehicle and let it sit in direct sunlight continuously it will melt quickly, but if you have a lighter colored vehicle and store it in a garage you can get up to 3 months of protection. Sealants are made in labs from artificial properties like polymers, resins, acrylics, etc. Creating a sealant basically takes ordinary polymers and removes properties that do not add more shine or protection to the formula by reducing the presence of water and other unnecessary elements. Sealants will only begin to melt at several hundred degrees and will last 3 – 12 months. Sealants are generally much more resistant to nature’s harsh elements and abrasions. Applying a sealant to your vehicle would be ideal to give it maximum protection for the winter months. Sealants add a great shine and make the surface feel very slick. Sometimes right after applying a sealant the surface is so slick that moisture doesn’t really bead up it sheets off. Sealants tend to be very reflective. So why would anyone use a wax then if sealants provides such superior protection and a great shine? Waxes typically provide a deeper and glossier appearance that makes the paint look endlessly deep. This look is sometimes referred to as “wet” or “hard candy” and looks stunning when done right. Typically a pure carnauba wax is used to give off this effect and produce the deepest shine possible. When automobile manufacturers display new models they will often apply multiple coats of a carnauba wax so their vehicle is sure to be eye catching. So now we must evaluate what form of protection works best for vehicle owners. If you have a daily driver we recommend applying a sealant to ensure that you have a strong layer of protection for months to come. If you detail your vehicle regularly (at least once a month) or you have a vehicle that’s not regularly driven you may want to just use a carnauba wax. With regular applications and/or light driving, the carnauba wax will give you the protection you need and the shine you want. To have the best of both worlds top off a coat of sealant with a layer of carnauba wax. This will give you the enduring protection of the sealant along with the rich and glossy appearance of a wax for a show car shine. We hope this information helps you better understand waxes and sealants and the differences between them. Thank you for reading.

Why you only have a 30 chance of getting your car fixed right the first time

While there are a number of factors why it’s difficult to get your car fixed right the first time, the primary reason is the skill of the mechanic doing the repair. According to studies, 70% of automotive technicians are not qualified to work on your car. This includes technicians from dealerships, local shops, and franchises. Over a decade ago, automotive manufacturers were predicting widespread shortages in “qualified” technicians. Now, given that 80% of the functions of the average car are controlled by electronics, qualified technicians are in even greater demand. This is evidenced by the numerous advertisements for master technicians which include a $1000 to $5000 sign-on bonus. The local mechanic is obsolete. Today’s mechanics must be “technicians” in the true sense of the word. Technicians need an in-depth understanding of the advanced interactive theory of mechanical, electrical, and computer systems. Today’s cars are literally a network of computers on wheels. The true technicians are the guys who can navigate multiple systems of theory to diagnose what’s causing your car to intermittently stall at highway speeds in cold weather, on Route 66 every other Thursday morning, when it rains hard. Unfortunately, these guys are very rare. Automotive technology has advanced far beyond local mechanics, most of whom are still struggling with basic electronics and computer diagnoses (see the Acceleration of Price-Gouging @ repairtrust/articles. html). The service industry has always lagged behind in adequate training. It has responded somewhat in recent years, but it’s too little too late. Training alone will not make up for the years of lost time, coupled with the technological advancements to come. This leaves you, the service customer, paying top dollar to have an amateur poke and prod your vehicle. Not only is your car unlikey to be fixed correctly, paying top wages for an amateur is a classic car repair scam!

Why you should consider leasing a vehicle

Is your current vehicle paid off, do you plan to pay it off, have you ever paid a vehicle off? If you answered ‘no’ to these questions, you may be able to save a lot of money or drive a very upscale vehicle, if not both, by leasing. Sure, leasing a vehicle is oftentimes made to sound very difficult, and many consumers consider leasing a complete rip off, but, in reality, leasing may be very advantageous for some car buyers and is simply another way to finance a vehicle. The only fundamental difference between buying and leasing is that when you buy a car, you finance the entire price, but when you lease, you finance a part of the vehicle’s price for a specific time period (usually 36 months). Things that prevent many people from considering a lease are objections like, ‘but after lease is over, you have nothing’ and ‘I’ll get penalized for extra miles or damage to the car.” Unfortunately, most people owe more than their vehicle is worth, which is worse than nothing, and regardless of how you finance a vehicle, excessive miles and wear will be penalized through lease penalties or trade allowance. Unlike buying, leasing vehicles can actually give you more flexibility and shield you from changes in the market because at the end of the lease you can buy the vehicle or walk away from it. This means that if a vehicle is worth more than predicted, you can come out ahead by buying it after the lease, but this is not always the case. It is a well accepted fact that automobiles are a depreciating commodity, but many people do not realize that they are subject to supply and demand just like anything else. Consider this scenario: two people get the same SUV, but one buys and the other leases. During the next three years, gas prices jump to $5/gallon. That SUV will be a very undesirable vehicle, which will lower the resale price. For the person in a lease, they simply dump the vehicle, while the person who bought the SUV may be so upside down on their loan that they cannot trade without several thousand dollars down. Just like buying a car, you can trade vehicles when you lease and you can negotiate the price. Many of the advertised lease specials are able to provide low lease payments by using the invoice price as the actual sale price, but you do not need a lease special to get invoice pricing. If you are someone who trades often and does not pay vehicles off, you cannot afford not to consider a lease next time you trade. Do some research on what determines a lease payment, available options to fit your driving habits (like extra miles or wear/tear coverage), and what a lease payment would be on the vehicles you like. After you see what your payment is, or what kind of vehicles you can afford for your current payment, you may find your self wondering why you never leased before.

    Windshield crack repair

It’s happened to all of us, driving along the highway minding our own business, when a chip of stone kicked up by the car in front pings against the window and chips it. It’s one of the most frustrating things that can happen to your car, and considering the size of the damage, it is disproportionately expensive to put right. Many people take their car to the repair shop with a stone chip in the windshield, and then get charged for a replacement at a cost of hundreds of dollars. However, this need not be the case. Under many circumstances, instead of replacing the whole windshield, you can use a windshield repair kit to fix small cracks and chips in the glass at a fraction of the cost. A typical car windshield is made up of a laminate of at least two layers of glass with a polymer resin sandwiched between them This gives the glass huge strength, and in the event of an accident, the resin is designed to hold the pieces of glass together and stop them showering into the car and causing injury. Because of the layered structure of a windshield, crack repair is possible. Usually in the event of a stone chip, only one layer of glass is damaged, with the underlying layers remaining undamaged. This means that it is possible to make the windshield more stable, and prevent the damage getting any worse, without having to replace the whole windshield. If the stone chip has gone through more than one layer of the glass, or is positioned right in the centre of the driver’s field of vision, then you should consider replacing the wind shield completely, because under such circumstances, the damage could cause impairment to the ability of the driver. If you are able to repair the windshield, you should carry out the work as soon as possible after the damage occurs. If it is left too long, the cracks can spread out across the screen thanks to the pressure of the air pushing against the glass when you are driving. As the cracks spread, the glass becomes weaker and weaker, and can eventually simply shatter under the pressure, which is obviously highly dangerous for the driver and any passengers in the car. The actual method of repairing a stone chip or small crack in the glass is simple with the appropriate windshield repair kits. Although different manufacturers package the kit differently, the actual method used is roughly the same. Windshield crack repair is carried out by injecting a clear resin into the crack or chip under pressure in order to completely fill any spaces, then the resin is cured rapidly using a special light that leaves it as hard as rock. If it is carried out properly there should be no distortion of vision when you repair windshield crack damage, and in many cases, the resin bonds so well with the edges of the cracks that the actual damage is much less visible and distracting for the driver. As well as small windshield repair kits designed for a single use, larger professional kits are also available that contain enough resin and equipment to perform up to 100 repairs. Because it is a fairly straightforward task to repair cracked windshields using the proper tools, there are many companies available who will carry out the service on your behalf, although at a much higher cost than doing the work yourself – albeit a lot less than you would have to pay for an entirely new windshield. The windshield on your car is there to protect you at all times, but it must be clear to see out of to help you avoid any trouble in the first place. It is vitally important to repair any damage to it, no matter how small it is, to ensure your safety, and also to prevent it getting worse and potentially costing you a lot of money.

    Winter driving hazards and cautions

It's that time of year again, when temperatures drop and ice and snow become the norm. Here are some of the most common winter driving hazards and cautions with tips on how to avoid or prepare for them. Be Prepared Before winter is in full swing, it's important to take steps to insure that your vehicle is properly prepared. This includes checking your battery, windshield wipers, tires, coolant, windshield wiper fluid, spare tire, heater, defroster, any element that you were experiencing problems with and checking for any leaks. If your vehicle is in need of a tuneup or oil change, get these things done before winter hits. If you live in a region that gets alot of rain or snow, then consider getting special tires for these conditions. Also keep a set of tire chains with you at all times. Getting Stuck Should you get stuck somewhere due to being stuck in snow or some roads that you need to travel on are closed, you should have some essential emergency supplies with you. These include blankets, several day supply of food, several gallons of water, rope, flashlight, first aid kit, extra clothing, shovel, cat litter for traction if tires are stuck, scraper, jumper cables and a wheel wrench and wheel jack. Keeping Warm One excellent tip for keeping warm if stuck in your vehicle for a long period of time is to carry a candle and some matches or a lighter. Lighting a candle in the middle of your car can keep your entire vehicle warm while it is lit. So have some long lasting candles in your car and you won't be cold if you get stuck. Black Ice Black ice is one of the worst hazards you can come upon when driving. You usually can't tell you are on it until you start sliding. Worse yet, if you hit your brakes, it can cause you to slide even more or even overturn. The best defense for black ice is simply to go slow in areas where you know the ground is frozen and it's been raining or snowing. In addition, you can use caution when applying your brakes if you start to slide. Pump your brakes slowly if you find yourself starting to slide. Also, if you start sliding in one area, it's likely there are more areas of the road ahead that have ice on them, so stay alert and keep driving slow and cautiously. Unexpected Weather The best protection from unexpected weather is to keep your radio on and stay tuned to a news and weather station. They will let you know of any hazards, whether to watch out for ice, snow, rain or fog and whether any roads are closed or require chains. You'll also want to keep a weather band or emergency radio in your trunk at all times with fresh batteries and extra batteries. Handy Gadgets The right technology can save your life. Consider getting a GPS for your vehicle, or a portable GPS. A GPS can stop you from getting lost and if you get stuck somewhere unfamiliar, it will show you how to get out and find help. A cell phone is something just about everyone has in their vehicle anyway. But consider keeping either a hand crank battery generator or a battery powered cell phone generator in your vehicle. Some flashlights and emergency radios come with a hand crank on the side, which you can hook up to your cell phone and give yourself virtually unlimited cell phone power, which can be a lifesaver in itself.

Winter outdoor shopping for automotive essentials

Winter can pose many hazards to people that must leave the confines of home and venture out into icy conditions on roadways and into cold weather temperatures that could make shopping almost impossible. To make winter outdoors shopping more bearable, many townspeople will go outdoors shopping for salt spreaders that will keep the roadways near their home free of ice. Some town governments might go winter outdoors shopping and buy snow plows to clear the roadways everywhere. People that live in areas where snow falls most of the year will get quite accustomed to going winter outdoors shopping even if it is summer or springtime. The items that they are intent on buying are those that will winterize the house and the items that they will be intent on buying are the ones that are designed to keep the warm air inside the home during winter, and ones that keep the cold inside the house during the summer. People will purchase weather stripping to keep drafts out of any room in the house at all times of the year. People who live in rugged terrain areas need to have certain essentials in the car when they leave the house after a deep snowfall. If the automobile has been outside for a while, there is a good possibility that the electronic jump starter bought on an winter outdoors shopping trip will come in very handy when the automobile owner tries to crank it up and leave the driveway to get more shopping done before the Christmas holiday arrive. Some winter outdoor shopping trips will be earmarked for buying things that will keep the family warm and safe, should the car break down on an isolated roadway. Some engines might not freeze up if the automobile owner had thought ahead and purchased an engine heater when the car was purchased many years before. Even if the automobile did break down, the heated cushions on the car seats could make things seem quite cozy until help arrives in the knick of time. The automobile is a great asset to own but some things that are purchased on winter outdoor shopping expeditions will make owning it even more enjoyable. People can find great bargains on ski racks at internet retail sites and have enough money left over to make the ski resort reservations into two rooms or more. The wintertime provides sports enthusiasts with many opportunities to own gear that makes playing in the snow a brand new experience each year. People that love playing in the snow might use the outdoor shopping sales to buy snowmobiles, snowboards and snow shoes to keep out the chill. Every snowmobile will have its own cover because the winter outdoor sales priced them with great discounts. A recreational vehicle owner might use the sales ads in winter to buy RV covers and a new set of windshield wiper blades. These items are all essential to vehicles be ready for the road when the idea of a ski trip happens one weekend.

Without an excellent finish your vehicle is no shark

If there is a paradox that meanders through automobile vehicle owners – whether it is owners of cars, trucks or S. U.V.’s is that most owners and purchasers tend to short change their vehicle’s finish and final shiny finish and presentation. This absurdity is usually two fold: either the enthusiast loses patience, is lazy or simply runs out of money. However according to automotive industry expert Riteway Strokon “Presentation and Appearance is Everything” “ Presentation, Presentation , Presentation“ is similar to the Real Estate Salesperson’s adage of “Location , Location , Location”.. What factors need to be considered in the choice of car body paint shop and technician specialists who will prepare and apply the finish to your vehicle – be it car, truck or S. U.V.? First of all a proper and a through job of preparation are essential. Once cannot skimp on a foundation of a house and once cannot skimp on proper auto body paint preparation. A paint job is only as good as to what is underneath it. The auto body surface must be absolutely clean – first by a chemical stripper, next removing any rust apparent or not apparent on the car by either by chemical means or by sandblasting. Once those two are done the surface must be washed down with a metal conditioner to in effect etch the metal surface for better adhesion of the paint. Next the surface of the vehicle is primed with a special “primer “coat of paint. The key thing to ask and look for at this stage of the process is whether the car with its coat of primer paint will be allowed to air dry and set for a number of days or whether the paint will be slapped on after only a cursory overnight time period of primer paint drying. After a thorough drying – this coat of primer paint will next be thoroughly and carefully sanded. Again attention to detail and patience are key. You can often judge these two traits in a shop and its staff by both their attention to cleanliness and order in their shop of tools and equipment, their general demeanor as well as references from previous customers. Next in line is the actual painting process. Here again attention to detail is key. Not enough can be stressed on the importance of this stage in the vehicle painting process. Lastly it comes to the post presentation finishing. Ask about this step. Some shops will consider the job “done” after the simple application of the surface paint. Others will pay great attention to detail – inspecting and applying finishing touches - in effect making sure that everything and anything of the presentation and appearance of the car is in order. The vehicle so to speak should be in better than “new condition”. Ensure that body moldings as well as the rubber door seals are placed in properly – that is tight fitting without space so that the rubber doors seals seal fit intact and tightly without gaps. There should be no wind noises. Lastly ensure that no remnants of the finished paint job are apparent in small ways on your vehicle paint job. All in all a more than excellent paint job more than adds great value and appreciation to your vehicle – whether it is Car, Truck or Sports Recreation Vehicle .

Women s and men s leather motorcycle jackets and their textile and mesh counterparts

Mens leather jackets for motorcycle riders have always been available in many designs and forms, however recently women's leather motorcycle have also become available. These jackets are especially made to fit a ladies figure. Before this women riders had to make do with a small leather jacket that was designed for a mans physique and not a woman, therefore a perfect fit was never achieved. Most manufactures of apparel these days have recognized that more women are riding bikes then ever before as well as the fact that they have been passengers for a long time and where never properly addressed. Well that has now changed and women can now choose from many a motorcycle leather jacket. Leather has always been the preferred choice of material for a jacket. The leather offers protection from road rash. That is if quality materials are used and stitched together and re enforced properly. We recommend you buy all your apparel from a brand name manufacture. This insures that you are truly going to get some protection out of the jacket because it will be made from quality material, where as you can buy cheap leather jackets made in Pakistan and India for a lot less but you will find that most of these are a very inferior product compared to a Icon, Agv Sport or an Arlen Ness piece. You should be able to find a quality men's or women's motorcycle leather jacket from any of those manufacturers. Textile and Mesh are the newest thing in motorcycle jackets where as before these highly durable materials were introduced the best you could do to get a warm weather riding jacket was too get a leather perforated one. The perforations are designed to let air pass thru while still giving you protection. Now with new mesh and textile materials made from Kevlar and the like you can get almost the same protection from a jacket made from Mesh then a leather piece. These new materials have a high abrasion resistance and do not tear easily. Also most of the garments made from the mare double stitched to prevent a tear at the seams. Icon as well as Agvsport and Alpinestars make some quality mesh and textile motorcycle riding jackets for men and women both. So now a days you have a choice in materials. Decide whichever suits your needs best and is going to be the most comfortable to wearfort is very important when it comes to riding apparel since if you do not feel comfortable in the item you are not likely to wear it in the long run. Personally I have two jackets one from mesh and one from leather, that way when its cold outside I can wear the thicker leather one that also has a insulated insert to help keep me warm and on warm days I can wear the mesh one and have all the protection as well as comfort to ride all day. I do have to admit I prefer the look of my leather motorcycke jacket to the mesh just because it’s a more old school look.

Work hard like the chevy astro

The Chevrolet’s Astro has an amazing pulling power of 5,500 lb. Now that is the strength of Chevy's Astro. Introduced in 1985, Chevy’s Astro is a multi-purpose van that effectively competed with rival Dodge’s Plymouth Voyager and various van models of the Japanese manufacturer Toyata. It is a versatile van and could be used as a standard passenger van or a cargo van. The Astro is also used as the base for ‘converted vans’ designed for a variety of uses. General Motor’s Safari, a truck-based platform, is the sibling of the hardworking Astro. Astro’s body belongs to the M-Van class and is much like its predecessors, the F-Body and X-Body types manufactured by General Motors. In its article about Chevy Astro, Wikipedia featured an image of this model of a Coca-Cola delivery van. The impression given is that it is for a targeted group of people. That is why people who drive this van are noticeably hardworking folks or at least that’s what the manufacturers want to convey. And there is way to commend them in a very special way – give them a stylish Chevy Astro Keychains. Compared to Chrysler minivans, the Astro offers much room. General motors marketed this model using the tagline “life is too big for a minivan.” Astro takes pride in accommodating large numbers of people, more than an ordinary car (up to eight (8) passengers). This makes the model ideal for a mini-school bus, tour van, or a family vacation companion. The Chevy Astro is undoubtedly a durable model, just what hardworking people are looking for in a multi-purpose van. There is this story about one of the eight Special Edition Astro vans manufactured at the Arlington, Texas plant in 1986. According to Wikipedia, the unit spent 20 years in Belton, Texas and is now an ice cream van in Mexico. Uh! That ice man must be a proud owner of a Chevy Astro! He deserves a fine top grain black leather keychain sporting the Chevy Logo and the model name “Astro”. And mind you, Astro was also a hit in Japan even if the model is only available in left-hand drive units! Japanese converters must have found its genuine power and durability to be above the class its “own” brands. So our keychain manufacturers must take note. Maybe a keychain featuring the Chevy logo and the name “Astro” in Japanese script could be a hit in Japan. The last of the Astro and Safari models came out just before May 14, 2005 - the day when its manufacturers decided to take it out of production. Two years had passed since then; and there are still a good number of people still driving this hardy vehicle. There are many loyal fans for the Chevy Astro. This reliable vehicle deserves an honor badge. So what are you waiting for? Give your hardworking friends a great gift to make them value their fellowship with their own great, reliable vehicle. It is a perfect gift for birthdays or this coming Christmas season.

Worrying times for the motor industry

From 1st July 2007 the UK bans smoking in enclosed public places with as many as 600,000 people forecast to quit smoking as a result. This article looks at if charging people to drive will have similar results for the Motor Trade. In The Beatles classic song Taxman the lyric goes, "We’ll tax your feet". Whilst the government hasn’t yet decided to do this it seems the introduction of "pay as you drive" schemes may soon be hitting the roads of the UK but what impact (if any) will this have on the UK Motor Trade. Well there appears to be a few factors that road users might want to consider: 1. If you’re a driver who drives infrequently or at less busy times you could end up paying less. 2. Or you might drive an average number of miles but due to you driving at rush hours (on you way to/from work or school) you will end up paying more money 3. You may want to use public transport more often 4. You and your friends may set up a car pool scheme so you take it in turns to drive 5. If you spend a lot of time on the road travelling to see friends and family maybe you won’t be able to visit them as often as before 6. If you spend time travelling for work maybe you won’t be able to visit customers as much or worse still increased transport costs may mean your less competitive or jobs have to be cut And what about people in the Motor Trade itself? If the smoking ban just announced makes people stop smoking then maybe forcing people to pay more to drive will mean people will simply drive less often. Therefore less cars are needed, less people are needed to service and repair them and jobs are lost in the Motor Industry. Of course these are all what if’s as nobody really knows what impact this decision will have on the transport system, the motor trade or indeed modern life. If maybe a positive move with a journey to work being halved due to less vehicles on the road. It may mean a change in the opening hours for businesses or schools so not everyone is fighting to get to and from work as the same time as the school run is being done. It may mean more money is invested in public transport so we have buses, trains, tubes and other forms of transport that are reliable and we’d be happy using. Or of course it may mean nothing changes apart from the fact that we have less money in our pockets. If the results of this survey conducted by Northern Counties Insurance Brokers are anything to go by. People were asked what impact will having to pay per journey have on you? - 40% said no impact as they couldn't live without their car - 13% said they would stop driving altogether - 6% said they would drive less often - 21% said they would use public transpoty more often - 11% said they would car share to cut costs - 5% said they would walk more often - 3% said they would still drive as often but at different times Whatever your thoughts are on the governments new "pay to drive" schemes the chances are it will happen and the impact on the motor trade could be massive

Wraps off the new hot civic

Type R model expected in Derby by early spring. THE hotly-anticipated Honda Civic Type R will go on sale in March and everything points to it being well worth the wait. Honda promises that it will be just as exhilarating to drive as the outgoing Type R while being a more refined super hatchback, with improved comfort levels. Integrated styling and handling tuned for enhanced responsiveness and predictability are among its other strengths. The model will be powered by the naturally-aspirated, high-revving 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine that powers the current Type R, but the unit has been significantly reworked to improve responsiveness using a new balancer shaft and drive-by-wire throttle control. Maximum power is now 201PS, reached at 8.000rpm (previously 200PS at 7.400rpm) and Honda reports the car is more responsive generally, while improved aerodynamics ensure it cuts through the air more cleanly. Slightly lower gearing compensates for a small increase in kerb weight. Acceleration figures are expected to be virtually identical to the 6.6 second 0-62mph time of the outgoing car - and the new car should match its top speed too, powering on to 146mph. There's little doubt the model will attract much attention in the street thanks in part to seven-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and a deep front spoiler incorporating a larger air intake. A body-coloured tailgate rear spoiler follows the kick-up line from the rear quarter windows in providing added down-force. At the front, a black honeycomb mesh grille replaces the glass panel of other Civics. While more discreet than on the outgoing car, Type R logos feature throughout. Firstly, the front brake callipers wear the insignia, and stainless steel inserts on the door sills also carry the badge. Inside, it's all about the driving experience. Front seats are racing-style buckets with large black alcantara bolsters and red stitching, red fabric seat cushions and backs. The effective dual-zone, two tier dash, which is common to other Civic models, also features in the latest Type R, but with red illuminated dials set off by gun-metal effect switch panels on either side of the central display. The gearshift knob with aluminium-finish has a black boot with red stitching. Expect to see the new model at Lookers Honda in Derby next March. Prices have yet to be announced.

    Yamaha jet ski waverunner

Yamaha’s venture to the marine water craft began as early as the 60’s but the company’s production of the personal water crafts came in later, in 1986. There are several reasons why Yamaha decided to produce PVC. One of them was the increasing interest of the public with Kawasaki’s Jet Ski and Bombardier’s Sea-Doo. (The names Jet Ski and Sea-Doo have become the generic terms for stand-up and sit-down personal water craft respectively.) The sales of the two brands kept on rising that prompted the entry of the WaveRunner into the marine recreation picture. The very first Yamaha PVC at the same time the very first sit-down PVC was the WaveRunner 500 or the Marine Jet 500T. Although the Sea-Doo first released the sit-downs, the WaveRunner set today’s sit-down market. A year later, the WaveRunner was shortly replaced with the name WaveJammer 500 or the Marine Jet 500S. This model was considered as the world’s first solo riding sit-down PWC. Same with the WaveRunner 500, the WavaJammer was very agile with its combination of small hull and fixed steering column. The sit-down model was still very popular during the 90’s and resulted to the introduction of the WaveRunner III 650 or the Marine Jet 650TL. This model was given the recognition as the world’s first PVC that was designed for 3 passengers. It featured high-performance engine, great stability, speed, and a larger hull. This model became the parent of the later Yamaha WaveRunner models as the demands for larger PVC’s increased over the years. Before the introduction of another WaveRunner (except for the WaverRunner VX650 in 1992) came several other Yamaha PVC’s. These include Super Jet 650 stand-up (jet ski), WaveBlaster 700 that rode like a motorcycle, WaveRaider 700, WaveVenture 700 with a 3-seater capacity, and the WaveBlaster II with a very powerful 760cc engine. In 1997 came the WaveRunner GP 1200 with one of the most powerful engines in the market. From hereon, the power, size, style, and features become the priority of Yamaha. More models with these characteristics came out. The WaveRunner XL 1200 came a year after. In 1999 two models, the WaveRunner SUV 1200 and WaveRunner XL 1200 Ltd was released. In 2000, the Yamaha PVC, the WaveRunner GP 1200R, has 155 hp engine with amazing body design. It was followed by the WaveRunner XLT 1200, WaveRunner FX140, WaveRunner GP 1300R with 1200cc engine, WaveRunner FX Cruiser High Output higher performance 4-stroke engines, WaveRunner VX Deluxe, WaveRunner FX Cruiser High Output, and WaveRunner VX 700. All these models are performance driven, stylish and most of all, very affordable.
