Taking a cruise can be one of the most exciting vacations that you take in your lifetime. Adventure, relaxation, exploration, extravagant parties, exquisite dining, free entertainment, and eye-opening experiences are all yours to be had when you book a cruise with Princess Cruise Lines or another popular line. A cruise vacation literally puts the world at your doorstep. Imagine being able to step out of your stateroom to a different exotic view each and every morning or being able to watch the sun set in a different port of call each evening. The truth of the matter is that cruise vacations are unparalleled when it comes to providing an unforgettable experience crammed packed with more variety than you could ever believe possible from a week-long vacation. But you need to be careful when choosing your package because different destinations will provide you with completely different experiences. The size boat that you choose will also determine what types of ports that you will be able to see. As you can see, there are a lot of things to consider when choosing where to go on your the cruise of your dreams. The destination of your cruise determines much more than just the type of scenery that you will see. Cruises to the Mediterranean are well-known for their party till the sun comes up itineraries. Sea voyages to Alaska, on the other hand, are more reserved and focus on sightseeing and wildlife. There are also trips that are very educational and will take you to see historical and ecological wonders. Others will slowly meander through tropical waters and make leisurely stops at brilliant white beaches. The bottom line is this: You can take a cruise to any part of the world that you would like to see and do virtually anything that you want to do. But first, you have to decide on a package. Mediterranean packages are extremely popular, but you need to be careful when selecting your package since some itineraries are created with tourism in mind and others with nightlife and partying in mind. For example: Two different cruises to the Mediterranean may stop at the same ports of call but for entirely two different reasons depending on which ship you book on. The first ship might stop at Barcelona and Rome just like the second one but may feature guided tours to top tourist attractions. The second ship may avoid the tourist scene and focus instead on the culture and nightlife to be found in the area. Keep in mind that different packages will attract different types of vacationers and that there are themed cruises that cater to a certain group of people. A slow-paced, educational theme may attract seniors where as a party cruise will attract young couples with no children. Mixing your vacation with a group of people that are your exact opposite may make for a long voyage rather than the fun trip that you had envisioned. A typical Mediterranean cruise will include several ports of call including Barcelona, Villefranche, Rome, Naples and Florence. You will probably have an opportunity to visit all of the main tourist attractions such as Pompeii and the islands that hold the history and archeology of man’s earliest civilizations. You may find yourself water skiing, shopping till you drop in Barcelona, scuba diving or playing with the rich and famous in Monte Carlo. If you prefer something a little more slow-paced without as many stops along the way, a voyage along the Alaskan inside passage might be just the thing. Inside passage cruises are so popular because they offer a close and unique view into the exotic beauty of Alaska’s ice-glazed land surfaces. Nearly 5% of this beautiful state is covered in ice fields in glaciers which provide a home for wildlife such as humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, dolphins, brown bears and bald eagles. While you will be able to visit some hard to access ports such as Juneau, Skagway, Haines, Ketchikan and Victoria on an inland cruise, the majority of your time will be spent aboard ship watching the majestic glaciers slip by within feet of the ship. You will be able to visit and view botanical gardens, spectacular waterfalls, and quaint towns. Certain itineraries even give passengers the opportunity to land on Annette Island and to be greeted by the Tsimshian elders of Metlakatla. But perhaps the best part about an Alaskan cruise is that it is calm, quiet, and less crowded than other types of cruises. Many destinations frequently visited on an Alaskan cruise are sparsely inhabited which makes for an experience that is entirely different from the shoulder-to-shoulder tourist feel of the Mediterranean’s top spots. As you can see from just these two examples, your vacation could be as lively or relaxing as you wish to make it. You can also choose what types of people are on the ship with you by booking passage on a themed cruise. Some of the most popular theme cruises include gay cruises; adventure cruises; honeymoon cruises; family cruises; disabled cruises; singles cruises; and you can also go nude There is no limit to the variety that can be found in a sea vacation. Young or old, gay or straight, single or married with kids, adventurous or laid back, it doesn’t matter; there is a cruise that is perfect for you. So pay attention to detail, examine your options, and book the vacation of a lifetime with Princess Cruise Lines or another popular line today.
Being one of the largest states in the union, just over a half million people have chosen to call Wyoming home, making it the least populated state. Its open ranges as well as vast mountain ranges make the state diverse in it attractions. In the northwest corner of the state, Yellowstone National Park boasts geysers and hot springs as well as many geothermal features. Old Faithful Geyser draws millions of visitors each year. The park is also home to free ranging animals such as buffalo and elk and is home to grizzly bears and wolves. On the other side of the state, in the Black Hills in the northeast corner, a towering rock formation called Devil’s Tower draws visitors by the millions each year as well as members of several Native American tribes who return to the area for annual rituals. It came under the National Park Service in 1916. Mountain climbers began their quest for the top in the 1930’s with records of climbs kept since 1937. The state capital of Cheyenne is located in the southeast corner of the state just off Interstate 80 with I-25 running north and south near the capital. Wyoming is an arid state receiving only about ten inches of rainfall each year. It is unique in that no water from any source in the state makes it to either ocean. The water from rain either evaporates or is absorbed into the ground. It is not a farm-friendly environment yet many ranches are established near the mountain ranges on all four sides of the state. The ski areas in the northwestern part of the state does enjoy significant show fall with precipitation often approaching 200 inches a year in the mountainous region of the Teton Range. In order to enjoy some of the best snow skiing in the country you will have to get off the beaten path, read that interstate highways, as I-80, I-90 and I-25 carry you mostly through the eastern and southern part of the state, the mountains of the Grand Teton National Park is located in the northwest part of the state and have some of the highest peaks leading into the Rocky Mountains. Route 287 and 189 will take you into the Bridger-Teton National Forest for some of the best natural scenery in the country, located in the western section of Wyoming and in the north central, leave I-90 on Route 14 and travel through the Big Horn National Forest. The Wind River Indian Reservation also draws visitors to view Native American life, located off Routes 134 and 26 to the west of Casper. Continue on to the northwest and pay a visit to the Shoshone National Forest for some of the best photography opportunities in the state.
Perched atop a vineyard-covered hill, the lonely Wuerttemberg Memorial Chapel enjoys a magnificent view of the Stuttgart area’s wine country. Although it sits in reverent silence, the chapel proclaims the timeless love of King Wilhelm I for his deceased bride, Katharina. The two now share this secluded resting place, together for eternity. In 1819, Wilhelm and the people of Wuerttemberg lost their beloved queen at the tender age of 31. This queen had given much of her own money to further the social development of the area, including a girls’ school, hospitals, and an institution for charity – even during the extremely difficult years of famine. The enormous Wuerttemberg Hill, home to the family’s old 11th century fortress, had been a favorite place of Katharina’s. Shortly after her death, Wilhelm had the ancient fortress leveled so he could build something truly symbolic of his devotion for her. Italian architect Giovanni Salucci had been employed as the court architect and was soon put to work designing an appropriate new haunt for young queen. The result of Salucci’s work was a neo-classic rotunda with an airy, arching dome inspired by Rome’s Pantheon. Towering Corinthian columns, stucco rosettes, and marble statues all of the palest hues reflect peace and rest as the dome’s incoming sunlight is subdued to a gentle glow. Warmly detailed cast iron accents the coolness of the circular room and is used for the doors, window frames, and a ventilated portion of the floor directly under the soaring dome. Since Katharina was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, Wilhelm made sure that this aspect of his wife’s existence was also remembered with fitting icons and services. Even to this day, Orthodox worship is conducted in the chapel once a year on Whit Monday. Katharina quietly sleeps below in the chapel’s dark crypt, surrounded by a massive white sarcophagus, where she patiently waited for Wilhelm to join her 45 years later. Their daughter, Marie, lies nearby and remains the only other soul in the tomb. Although the crypt is simple and unadorned in dйcor, the cast iron floor above allows light to pour in and paint decorative patterns on the cold stones that support the chapel’s foundation. Since this iron floor/ceiling lies right under the dome, the royal couple enjoys an everlasting view of the heavens. In addition to being a monument of love and Italian architecture, the chapel is something of an acoustical phenomenon. Sounds originating in the crypt reverberate off the hard stone walls as well as travel up through the cast iron floor to bounce around the spacious dome. Secondary echoes from the crypt also travel skyward to create deafening slap-echoes which live several seconds before dissipating. This amazing sound effect brings an unusual energy and life to a place enveloped in death and remembrance. On its isolated peak on Wuerttemberg Hill, the memorial chapel leaves the visitor with a profound sense of marital love. Visible from even miles away, the structure immortalizes one man’s devotion to his wife. Romantic, too in the sense that the pair have this secluded spot to themselves forever.
You have a vacation coming up, but you’ve been everywhere and seen everything that you wanted to see. Maybe you have a lot of vacation time amassed and you know you’ve been blessed with material assets that others don’t have. If so, maybe you should consider going on a Volunteer Vacation. There are many opportunities available to take an interesting vacation and still make a difference in your world. You can work in a partner program where you will work side by side with local people to improve their community. You might work in the area you are most interested in. Do you have building skills? Are you a medical professional? You can be used in various communities both here and abroad to help the disadvantaged get the medical care they need. Other opportunities are offered all over the world. You could volunteer in an orphanage, a school, caring for the elderly, or working with people with disabilities. What ever your interests, there are opportunities for you to make your vacation a volunteer experience. It will inspire you and make you thankful for all you have been blessed with. With the natural disasters we have experienced in the past year, many places could use help in rebuilding and cleaning up. The tsunami relief is still far from being completed. Many miles of beaches still need to be cleaned and many are still without shelter. Put your building skills to work to help the unfortunate countries that were affected. Do you lean more toward ecological projects? Those can be found as well. In the past 12 months, a volunteer group has spent many hours rehabilitating sick penguins so they can be released into the wild in South Africa. Released turtle hatchlings in Costa Rica and cleaning vast amounts of beach area in Sri Lanka. Other projects include, erecting a fence to protect wildlife in Australia, replanting over 2000 saplings to restore a forest in Kenya and helped preserve Griffon Vultures in Croatia. If you prefer to work with people, you may be able to help with teaching English as a second language. One organization has organized a camp to help children fight drug addiction. Another has taught basic sports skills and helped with educational development for children in underprivileged countries. Meaningful volunteer vacations can be a worthwhile project for anyone wanting to help the world become a better place. To promote goodwill and let other countries know that we as Americans care. The Church I belong to takes a missionary trip every year. They have fund-raising events, and those that go work to raise the money for their travel. They may go and finish a project started by another church, or start a new project. The Church that is sending the group often supplies building supplies. Teens have gone on mission trips to conduct one-week Bible Schools. My son had the opportunity to go on one of these mission trips and that one trip changed his life forever. He learned that volunteer work could be rewarding and unforgettable. There was time for him to visit the local sites and work with the locals on something that was important to them. He used his experience on that trip to go to a large city here in the States to minister to inner city youths during one of his summer college breaks. I found many different sites on the Internet that gives you the choice of where you want to volunteer. Is there an area you have never thought of visiting? Maybe a news story has made you curious about an area, or stirred your heart, making you want to make a difference. Can one person make a difference? The answer is a resounding YES. You can take projects for as short as one week to as long as 12 weeks. You choose what will interest you and where you would like to go. Why not take advantage to see a part of the world you would not have the occasion to visit and change the lives of people in that area. You can have a life changing experience, a vacation to remember and do your part in working for peace and understanding around the world.

Australia has fast overtaken other countries as the destination of choice for students from Commonwealth Countries like South Africa and Canada who want to work and/or study overseas. Ten years ago, it had become the norm for young adults to leave the country for the UK as soon as they had completed their final year at senior high school. There, they would pluck chickens, tend bar or peel potatoes while experiencing life in the UK and Europe. Living and working in the UK was, and still is, an expensive venture and it is the cost of living, as well as many other areas, where Australia wins the pros versus cons debate each and every time. The good news for world travelers or students wanting to study in Australia is that there are positions available in many different fields to help fund their stay - including the meat industry. Though this may not be the most attractive option, the meat industry is an excellent way to fund your travels or start a new life in Australia. At present numerous 457 Visa vacancies exist for experienced meat processing employees - across most functional areas in the meat processing industry. The Australian meat industry is a thriving one, the pay is good and it offers many young visitors the opportunity to financially support their studies and/or lifestyles during their stay in the country. Australia has exported meat for more than a century and today production is tailored to the packing needs of customers in more than 120 countries worldwide (source: Meat & Livestock Australia). The Australian meat packing industry is the state of the art in beef and lamb dressing and fabrication. Australian packing facilities employ the latest technology to ensure efficient production without loss of quality. The way in which red meat is packed is crucial to the overall quality and shelf life of the product, which ultimately leads to customer satisfaction. Though the student level job opportunities bear similarities in all countries, Australia offers many other attractions to international visitors. For one thing, the country has garnered a well-deserved reputation for playing host to many of the world’s best educational institutions and thousands of international students choose to study there each year. Another appealing factor to living in Australia is the environment. With a brilliant range of climates and locations to choose from, Australia has much to offer. From the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef to snow covered mountains and lush rain forests, visitors will have no trouble finding a location that suits them. And, to top it off, the country has still managed to build a broad, diverse array of business focused areas offering many work opportunities to one and all. Most notably, Australia offers a high standard of living at a competitive price when compared to other first world destinations; so it’s not surprising that many people, bitten by the travel bug, make it their destination of choice. The Jersey Shore boasts some of the most crowded vacation destinations going. However, one popular resort, The Wildwoods, is truly a happening place and well worth the trip despite the crowds. Much of this venerable beach community took off in the 1950s with the opening up of the Garden State Parkway and the Atlantic City Expressway. Many of the hotels still gracing the area still reflect that fifties look: tail fins, big hair, Elvis, and more. Old hotels with a bit of tackiness to be sure, but still a fun place to check out. The boardwalk is a two mile trek laced with all kinds of stores selling saltwater taffy, t-shirts, trinkets, games, rides, junk food, you name it. If you don't like to walk, tram cars will take you to the end or to any point in between. Soon, you will hear the familiar "watch the tram car" recording emanating from the cars and all you have to do is flag one down, hop on, and you're off. The beach is free, by the way. And, it is very wide particularly by NJ standards. Most people familiar with the Jersey Shore know that many beaches are razor thin. This beach has sand added to it constantly and naturally by compliant tidal waters; it is at least 1/4 mile from boardwalk to surf [in low tide, that is]. Wildwood now boasts a convention center built on the beach and new rides jutting out from its piers. Historic Cape May, home to more than 600 Victorian houses, is only four miles to the South and a great place to visit when you tire of the boardwalk scene. Atlantic City is one hour to the north and is a frequent side trip destination, especially on rainy days. Alternatively, you can also escape to the county zoo for the day in the town of Cape May Court House. The best time to go to the Wildwoods is during July and August as the water temperatures can be too cold before that time. Still, most hotels have outdoor heated pools which you may prefer to salt water. The resort is changing as many old buildings are being torn down and replaced by condos. Preservationists are attempting to maintain the family welcoming theme of the resort, so it remains to be seen what the resort's future will be. In the meantime, grab a beach towel and your sunblock and head over to wonderful, Wildwood, NJ!
Oh the beautiful South Africa. Endowed with rich tapestry of culture, vast lands, unequalled safaris…South Africa is truly a place for one who wants to reconnect with nature. South African safaris are home to wide spectrum of animal species including the celebrated group of five: the buffalo, rhino, lion, elephant and leopard. They were not named so because they have gained great popularity but because they mainly offer the experience of witnessing the dance of life happening in sight of travelers. They are the hunters that give fright to their preys. Thus, excitement for their viewers. Game viewing, as this activity is called, is typically done with walking safari. However, due to the increase in popularity of canoeing, horseback riding and camel safaris walking becomes only one of a tourist' option. It is designed specifically for the hardy souls though and for the physically fit. A standard walking safari is composed of 8 to 12 persons aged 12 to 60. This lasts for 3 days and 2 nights. With other modes of game viewing however, one should be in company of a guide. The flagship of all South African safaris is the Kruger National Park creation of Paul Kruger, the president of Transvaal Republic in 1898. His advanced vision sparked the idea of creating wildlife sanctuaries and preservation areas to let nature continue growing at her own rate. With the Kruger National Park, South Africa is truly unrivalled in its immense resources. The big five aside, South African harbors some of animal world's most interesting games such as the wild dogs, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, warthog, an array of antelope species and jackals, hippos, and zebras. Kruger Park is also home for some 500 species of birds and 140 species of mammals. With its 20, 000 sq. km land area of unspoilt land, Kruger offers visitors not only its animal resources but also its wide spectrum of plant species. South Africa safaris are not only made famous by the Kruger National Park, they also placed their names in top African destination through the fame of The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - one of the biggest wildlife conservation areas in the world. It is not for the fainthearted though. This is the sight for the distinguished black-maned Kalahari lions along with other animal species like bat-eared foxes, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, and the likes. While on South African safaris, never forget to take some images of wildlife with you. Capture them in photos if you can. Animals such as those that thrive in nature pass only once. It would be wise if you can have a token of remembrance from them.
Known as DLP by Mouseketeers everywhere, Disneyland Paris is a wonderful array of rides, exhibits, restaurants and much more. In addition, the park has just added a Walt Disney Studio Park to this location. Located nineteen miles (32km) out of Paris, many of the well known rides from California are included (with a little French flair of course). There is the “It’s a Small World” ride and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride based on the two movies and the most popular show “The Lion King” which always sells out so you must buy tickets beforehand. Other sites include the Star tours in Discovery land which can be educational and fun at the same time and the Big Thunder Mountain in Frontierland is always surrounded by visitors. New and future activities are being added, such as, the Space Mountain Mission 2 launched in April 2005; the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast, which is an improvement to the version in Anaheim and plenty of rides, that have also been adapted, improved or added since DLP opened in 1992. You can dine at the numerous restaurants within the park which provide wonderful meals in true French tradition. In the Steakhouse, the steaks are thick, the wine endless and the service efficient. At Chef Mickey’s children will enjoy the site of Disney characters dancing about along with the buffet meal. And for the necessary souvenirs and the like, as with all Disney locations, there are exhibits and shops everywhere you look. You can go to the “Val d’Europe” for additional shopping located not very far from the park. It is a mall of full of stores including a grocery store partly owned by Disney called Aucon. In there, you can purchase a variety of foodstuffs. You may even stop by the local Sephora to get a bottle of French perfume. For those with small children, rental strollers and baby changing facilities are readily available or you may go to the Baby Care Centre on Main USA which has supplies and facilities. The hours depend on the season, with summer having longer hours and to be able to go on all the rides and restaurants available, it is best to purchase a day pass. You will avoid the long lines this way. Another option is to get a three day pass which gives you access the park for three non-consecutive days, but it is pretty pricey. To get from Paris, you take the RER Line, A – Marne-la-Vallee/Chessy Station. If you are going straight from Orly or Charles de Gaulle, there is a VEA shuttle service that takes you to the Disneyland Resort Paris hotels. A shuttle comes by every thirty minutes. For more information on the hours, prices and accommodation, go to the website at disneylandparis.

When your toes turn purple and your eyelashes sprout icicles, you know it’s time to head south for the winter. The birds do it, so why shouldn’t you? Stop, now, before you break your back from shoveling one more pile of snow, and consider some exotic locales for winter getaways where the only mounds of white you’ll being seeing are of the hot, dry, and sandy variety. Speaking of white, sandy beaches, a trip to Antigua, or its neighboring island Barbuda may be just what you need in order to restore feeling to your toes. Every water sport lover’s dream, the Caribbean nation boasts of at least 365 beaches surrounded by clear blue waters with an average temperature of 80 degrees. Trade your snow boots for fins, and snorkel through spectacular coral reefs, maybe even catching a glimpse of the wreck of the merchant ship Andes, which has rested on the bottom of Deep Bay since 1905. If you’d rather not get your feet wet, you can enjoy all that the charming capital St. John’s in the northern part of the island of Antigua has to offer. Purchase colorful local artwork while strolling down Market Street or fortify yourself with sweet black pineapple (which isn’t really black) and some local rum. Watch a spectacular sunset over English Harbour on the summit of Shirley Heights while tapping your feet to the rhythms of a steel band. If you would prefer to watch birds instead of people, then head north to the tiny island of Barbuda, which has only a single village of 1100 people but is famed for its frigate birds and huge rookery. If Antigua’s cricket-playing and English-speaking ways bring up unpleasant memories of Britain’s colonial imperialism, perhaps its time to head to Rio de Janeiro for a little taste of the party-loving legacy of Portuguese imperialism in Brazil, the largest country in South America. Lying on the Bay of Guanabra, the city, which is most well-known for its pre-Lenten festival of wantonness, “Carnaval,” also prides itself on 75 miles of coastline. Do words like Ipanema or Copacabana ring a bell? Yep, they’re both in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilians in the city party hard and pray hard. After dancing all night at a samba club, look into the sky and enjoy the slightly surreal sight a 128 foot, 1,000 ton statue of Christ the Redeemer hovering over the city proudly at the top of Corcovado Peak. If Rio’s religious version of the Statue of Liberty has you feeling faintly guilty for deserting your home country in the midst of winter, perhaps Perth, Australia will provide the English-speaking taste of home (with an exotic flair) that you need. Kick back and ride the waves in the Western Australia’s isolated capital, nestled between a blue, blue ocean and a dry, sandy desert. Getting there is half the adventure, consisting of a 4000 km car ride from Sydney or a long and winding train ride on the Indian Pacific. Explore the Swan River and the 400-hectare King’s Park in the south, magnificent nineteenth-century buildings constructed using convict labor in the city center, or perhaps travel north to swim with the dolphins at Monkey Mia. If Perth leaves you feeling a little isolated, perhaps a trip to the modern island city of Singapore, with a population of approximately 4.5 million, will help alleviate your winter doldrums. With not one but four official languages—Chinese, Malay, Tamil, and English—the country offers a delightful blend of ethnic influences. Enjoy a bowl of hot noodles followed by your favorite curry. Buy a sari in Little India on a Sunday evening or sip on herbal tea in Chinatown. Or perhaps enjoy the sights on a cable-car ride to Sentosa Island, the sight of a thrilling amusement park. If Sentosa Island puts you in mind of childhood yearnings for the Magic Kingdom, perhaps a trip to the sub-tropical Sunshine State may be just the cold remedy you are looking for. The Magic Kingdom isn’t the only amusement park in central Florida. Choose from the likes of Universal Studies, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens, or Cypress Gardens, all within a short drive of each other. Florida is all about the tourist industry, and travelers can find some great winter travel deals if they shop around. Wherever you decide to go this winter, don’t forget to pack sunscreen, a bathing suit, and your favorite book. Warmth and relaxation wait just a few thousand miles away.
