What is a cosmetic contact lens and what s it used for

Cosmetic contact lenses are a professional beauty secret that is hitting the mainstream. For years, stylists have given fashion models, actors, and actresses colored contact lenses to enhance or obscure natural eye color for striking visual effects. Rumors often abound about whether the stunning shade of a young starlet’s eyes is natural or not, but regardless of whether the It-girl of the moment was born with those baby blues it is safe to say that colored contact lenses are a powerful beauty tool. Many of the people who opt for colored contacts have light colored eyes but are looking for a little bit of extra power. If you want to give your baby blues a little bit of extra zip, or want to give your light green eyes a bit of special luster, consider looking into contacts that have an enhancement tint. Enhancement tints are translucent, so they capture the complexity and natural variation of your eye’s appearance while adding a little bit of extra color. Actors and actresses often find themselves cast in roles that require a total switch in eye color. For these kinds of drastic changes, only contacts with a full color tint can do the job. With an opaque color tint, you can turn your dark hazel eyes to a pale, dreamy gray. You can even swap your commonplace dark brown color for an attention getting shade of amethyst or violet. Whether you are looking to transform for a feature film, for a special event like a prom, or just to add a little something out of the ordinary to a regular night on the town, a contact with a color tint can do the job. Color contact lenses certainly look great, but in some cases they may not be so great to look through. The center of any colored contact lens is clear, which allows your pupil free, unfiltered access to light and images. However, slight vision problems can occur if your pupil is larger than the center of the lens. Because pupils are constantly growing and shrinking in size so that you can see equally well in situations where there are varied levels of light, there is no way to size a colored contact so that you can be certain that your pupil will never be partially covered by the tint. For this reason, make sure that you have worn your contacts several times to determine whether they obscure your ability to see before you attempt any potentially dangerous activity, such as driving at night.

    What is breast augmentation

Breast augmentation, also known as breast implant surgery is a popular cosmetic surgery to enlarge the size of a woman's breasts or to reconstruct the breast to correct genetic deformities or after a mastectomy. This procedure is also performed during male-to-female sex changes. How popular is breast augmentation? According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast augmentation is the third most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States. In 2005, 291,000 breast augmentation procedures were performed. There are four types of implants used in breast augmentation. 1. Saline implants, which have a silicone rubber shell filled with sterile saline liquid. These implants are currently the only type available outside of clinical trials in the United States, but future regulation may make more filler types available. 2. Silicone gel implants, which have a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel. 3. String Implants, which used proypropylene (PPP), were eliminated years ago by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) due to the complications brought about by continuous growth after implantation. Despite the apparent danger and frequent complications, this type of breast implant was popular among adult entertainers. 4. Tissue engineered implants are a new form currently in development. Cells taken from tissue artificially grown from human stem cells are combined with a scaffold material to produce a Tissue Engineered Breast Implant. The advantage of this breast augmentation method is that there is no risk of leakage or rupture, and the size can remain stable for the lifetime of the patient, a contrast from the silicone or saline filled implants which typically reduce by approximately 40%. Regardless of the type of breast augmentation procedure chosen, it is likely that women with implants will need to have one or more additional surgeries (reoperations) over the course of their lives. The most common reasons for reoperations include cosmetic concerns, capsular contracture, and rupture. Reoperation rates are less frequent in breast reconstruction cases. The major implant manufacturers, Mentor and Inamed, both reported that almost half their reconstruction patients underwent additional surgeries within three years to fix implant problems, whether their implants were silicone or saline. Disclaimer The information presented here should not be interpreted as medical advice. If you or someone you know is considering breast augmentation surgery, please seek professional medical advice for the risks and benefits of this type of surgery.

What is endometriosis and common symptoms

Endometriosis is a condition that can prevent pregnancy in a woman. It is a disease that is fairly common and can afflict women from their first menstrual cycle through menopause. In rarer cases, endometriosis can affect post-menopausal women as well. Currently, there is no cure for endometriosis. As well, general practitioners often have a difficult time diagnosing endometriosis. Endometriosis occurs when the endometrium, or uterine lining, grows outside of the uterus. It may grow in areas such as around the ovaries, in the pelvic cavity, sometimes even the bowels or in the bladder. Although very rare, the endometrium can also grow in the lung area. As the condition progresses, the growths develop into "tumors" or "implants." While the reference to tumors can be unnerving, endometrium growths are not cancerous or malignant. However, the condition can be severely painful, cause heavy menstruation, and can prevent pregnancy in some cases. Endometriosis symptoms include pain that is localized in the pelvic, abdominal, or lower back areas. The severity of the pain does not directly correlate with the amount of endometriosis present in these areas. One can have a small amount of endometriosis growth and feel severe pain. Conversely, one can have a large area of endometriosis growth and feel no pain. Women who have pain in these areas might want to consult with their gynecologist. Gynecologists are specially trained to diagnose endometriosis. An MRI or ultrasound should be able to detect endometriosis, but it is not always the best way. A definitive diagnostic procedure is a laparoscopy. A laparoscopy is a surgical procedure that involves inserting a tube with an attached light into the abdomen. This procedure will determine the location, size, and extent of the condition. Once endometriosis is detected, treatment options are discussed with the gynecologist, which includes medication, hormone treatments, and surgery.

    What is perfume made of

Perfume is a chemical compound of fragrant oils, aroma blends, fixatives, and solvents that provides a pleasant or attractive smell to anyone, anything, or any space to which it is applied, either directly or through spray. This is used primarily for women who want to attract a mate or wish to smell nice for a social event. Concentration and Composition The concentration or composition of perfume starts with a base of perfume oils, which are natural, animal, or synthetic. These oils are watered down with a solvent that makes perfume light and applicable. Why? Pure, or undiluted, perfume oils are composed of eruptive elements that can damage the skin or cause allergic reactions, so adding solvent thins the oils and makes them less potent. The most prevalently used solvent is Ethanol. Natural and Synthetic Aromatics: Plant Sources: Plants are the oldest source for fragrant oils compounds in perfume, flowers and blossoms the most prevalent parts used in perfume. Other plant parts include leaves and twigs; roots, rhizomes, and bulbs; seeds; fruits; wood; barks; and lichens. Animal Sources: Musk, from the musk sacs from the Asian musk deer; Civets, also referred Civet Musk; and fatty compounds known as Ambergris are among the most prevalent used in perfume. Others include Castoreum and Honeycomb. Synthetic Sources: Produced through the organic synthesis of multiple chemical compounds. Calone, Linalool, Coumarin, and Terpenes are among synthetic sources used to make fragrant oils. These can create unnatural smells (or those not existent in nature) and are very valuable elements used to make perfume. Purpose: Composing Perfumes The reason multiple industries use perfume or fragrant compounds is to attract the customer via the olfactory system, or sense of smell, and persuade them to buy perfumes or perfume-laced products. Brief: fragrant samples created for smell-testing by select would-be buyers. This process of smell-testing various perfume combinations—which usually extends over a long period of time--is an attempt to isolate the feeling incited by the brief. When this is achieved, the fragrance is typically modified and formulated accordingly. The perfume composition is either destined to augment other products (as a functional fragrance) or is patented and sold as a perfume (as a fine fragrance) after aging one year. Implications: Preserving Perfumes Fragrance compounds usually deteriorate and lose strength and cohesion if stored inappropriately for long periods of time. It is therefore wise to tightly seal such compounds in aluminum containers, and keep them away from light, heat, Oxygen, and other organic substances. For best results, these containers should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of around 3 to 7 degrees Celsius. Perfume is very popular in world culture, so much so that its uses and applications continue to expand. The sense of smell is one of the most powerful and persuasive of the human senses, so it’s natural that perfume would entice us in many areas of daily living.

What s hot in lingerie for 2006 boy shorts

Many people think of lingerie as standard items that remain the same year after year. While lingerie is more intimate and private, like every other fashion item, it changes periodically as trends become more popular. So what’s hot in lingerie for 2006 … boy shorts!. Yesterday’s thong is never going to disappear completely from lingerie and department store shelves. It is the hands down best way to eliminate visible panty lines when you wear tight pants or skirts, but thong sales are definitely on the decline. The sales of boy shorts however, are definitely on fire. If you don’t know what boy shorts are, think of tight short shorts or hot pants. While there are some boy shorts that are a little loose fitting generally speaking they are very figure hugging. This snug fit gives shape to your rear and enhances your figure, making you appear curvier and sexier. Some boy shorts will completely cover your rear, but usually they leave part of it exposed (think of them as ѕ length shorts). For those girls with perfect figures or who like things a little racier, there are styles that provide even less coverage, that resembles a wide band across the upper portion of your rear. Now that we have the basic idea covered, lets talk about styles. Boy shorts come in wide range of styles, colors and fabrics. The most basic styles will come in cotton or polyester blends. If you are going to be wearing boy shorts all day, try choosing something made of microfiber, while slightly more expensive it’s more comfortable, durable and long lasting. For a more elegant look try boy shorts made of silk or satin. These styles often have a lace, decorative or scalloped edging. However the most popular boy shorts are made of lace. Lace boy shorts are definitely the most sexy and alluring choice available. For people who are a little modest, or who find lace slightly itchy, look for double layer lace boy shorts. They have a lace layer on the outside and a second layer of a different material on the inside against your skin. © Lingerie.6ln, All Rights Reserved.

What s in your shampoo hair health and hair loss prevention using natural products

We do our shopping and purchase our hair care products and assume we are doing the right things for hair health. Through promotion and marketing we are led to believe that some of the products available today are things we just can’t do without. But is that really true? To find the answer you must first look at the structure of hair. Below the skin is the hair follicle, the sebaceous gland and blood vessels. The hair itself is made up of protein. When you brush your hair it causes the sebaceous gland to produce sebum. This oily substance coats and protects the hair from the elements. It also stimulates the blood vessels to provide the nourishment your hair needs. Brushing your hair and or massaging the scalp are beneficial to hair health. With commercial products, most shampoos and conditioners contain harsh chemicals and synthetic products. In shampoos, that means it can over clean your hair and strip it of its precious oils. Now you need to condition it to replace the oils. It can harm the scalp and hair follicles. It is the same with laundry detergents. They are loaded with fillers and less actual soap so that they can sell you more detergent. It’s a money making strategy that has worked so they will continue to do so. Now if you are like most people, you’ve read the labels but don’t have a clue as to what the ingredients really are and what their function is. Here it is in layman’s terms: 1) Distereate and propylene glycol or glycol are petroleum based (crude oil). They are very cheap which is why they are widely used in the cosmetic industry. 2) Isopropyl alcohol is another very cheap solvent. 3) Propylparaben or Methylparen are preservatives that are synthetic. The human body typically does not understand synthetic, it understands organic. 4) Cetearyl alcohol is an emulsifier and it can be natural or synthetic. Synthetic is often used because it’s cheaper and easier to produce. These petrochemicals are absorbed through the skin, then down through the organs and tissues. Many believe that long term exposure to these toxins can cause permanent damage anywhere in the body, and yet, governments have sided with big industry to not require them to disclose what these products contain or what they really are. Instead we have big fancy names you can hardly pronounce let alone understand. The solution? It’s not as hard as you think. It’s as close as you health food store or even your own fridge. Here are some tips: 1) Buy a natural liquid soap from the health food store. Also purchase some essential oils such as lavender (for all hair types), rosemary, clary sage, cedar wood, birch and peppermint (for hair loss) bergamot, rosewood, eucalyptus etc. Also purchase natural oils such as olive, jojoba, or avocado. Here’s what to do; in a clean spray bottle, pour in about Ѕ a cup of distilled or spring water. Add 1 cup of liquid soap. Then take 2 tsp of your vegetable oil and add 10 to 20 drops of your chosen essential oils. It can be just one or several combined oils. Shake gently. There you have it. Simple as that! (Essential oils always need to be in a vegetable oil base because of its concentration). You should not need a cream rinse after that because oils will be replaced. 2) If you need deep conditioning, try saturating your hair in mayonnaise or warmed olive oil. Wrap tightly and cover with a shower cap and let rest on the hair for approximately 20 minutes, then rinse out. You can also take 2 egg yolks and whisk them until frothy, then add some warm water. Pour over hair and leave on for 2 minutes then rinse well. 3) It’s a good idea to do a final rinse on your hair with something acidic such as cider vinegar, lemon juice, beer or even milk. Add any of these ingredients with some water to rinse your hair with to restore the alkaline/acid balance of your hair and scalp, and take off any residue you may have left on your hair. There are many good natural recipes for healthy hair but these are a few things to get you started in the right direction. Experiment with different essential and vegetable oils to find what you like best. Natural, your body understands, so here’s to a good hair day!

What s wrong with my face

The term acne refers to whiteheads and blackheads (skin pores that get clogged) and nodules or cysts, which are deep lumps. These are found on a persons face, chest, neck, back shoulders and sometimes the upper arms. Most teenagers are affected by acne to some degree although folks in other age groups can experience acne as late as into their 40's. It's not life threatening but can be disconcerting to your view of yourself and can even be permanently disfiguring if severe. A person with acne can end up with permanent scars. In fact, it doesn't even have to be severe at the outbreak to end up scarring forever. Acne's causes go back to hormonal changes at the onset of puberty, with oil glands producing in abundance. These oil glands, known as sebaceous glands, are primarily affected by male hormones known as androgens. Females have androgens as well, though they don't have as many as males. A hair shaft inside a sebaceous gland make up what is known as a sebaceous follicle. While going through puberty, the skin cells lining these follicles shed more quickly than in past years. In those who experience acne the cells shed but stick together more than in those who don't get acne. When these cells stick together this overabundance of sebum (oil) probably will end up plugging the follicle's opening and because the sebaceous gland doesn't stop producing its sebum the follicle simply swells up. What also happens is that a bacterium called P. acnes, that is normal to have in skin, start to quickly multiply in the hair follicle that is clogged. The substances produced by these bacteria are irritating and cause inflammation. The follicle sometimes bursts and then the inflammation spreads to skin surrounding it. This is the way that acne's lesions - whether pimples, blackheads or nodules - form. There are several myths about acne that we'd like to dispel. The first is that your poor hygiene causes acne. People who believe this myth ended up scrubbing their faces and other skin parts harshly and too often, which often makes the acne condition even worse. Acne does not happen because your surface skin is covered by dirt or oil. While you don't want to leave dead skin, dirt or excess oil on your skin you don't want to vigorously scrub it away either, or you'll exacerbate the acne problem. What you should do instead is wash your face gently twice each day and then put it dry. You may also want to use an acne treatment - over the counter or prescribed. The second myth about acne's cause is that stress brings it on. Ordinary stress is not related to acne at all, although if you suffer from stress that becomes severe enough to warrant the care of a physician and prescribed medications those medications might produce acne. If you're taking drugs for depression or other stress related symptoms and you have an acne breakout you should see your doctor. The third myth about acne is that your poor diet choices cause it. Your mother probably told you to avoid chocolate or fried foods or even pizza and it would help your acne. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Food intake doesn't affect acne. A balance diet is a good choice for your overall health, of course, but it just doesn't affect acne. Another myth is that acne is just a cosmetic problem - in other words, not a big issue. People who think this way disregard the effect it can have on the way people - especially teenagers - feel about themselves. The other issue is that it can permanently scar.

What the cost of laser hair removal can mean for your treatment

Many people looking for a permanent or long-term way to remove unwanted body hair look to the laser hair removal procedure. This popular procedure removes the hair relatively quickly, and for a much longer period of time than the traditional methods of hair removal, such as shaving or waxing. Practitioners promise to swiftly remove of hair at the root, and pledge that your hair will grow back at a very slow rate. However, if you are looking at laser hair removal as a long-term answer to your unwanted body hair problem, it is vital that you know all research all characteristics of the procedure, from knowing the basic principles behind it to knowing what to look for in a trustworthy practitioner to perform the procedure for you, and especially what the approximate cost of laser hair removal will be for you. There are several obvious benefits to having laser hair removal, which is why it is becoming more common. The primary reason people pay to have the procedure done is for the lasting removal of unwelcome body hair. Even though laser hair removal has not been proven to be a permanent solution, there is often a permanent reduction in appearance of your hair. Often, your hair grows back in a lighter color and a finer texture, which can be a more manageable alternative to what a person deals with before having the procedure done. Laser hair removal is safe as long as it is done correctly and cautiously. Laser hair removal seems to be the best solution for those who have a large area on the body that they wish to treat, such as the back, chest, or legs. In these cases, laser hair removal might be a preferable option to something even less permanent like waxing, because of the longer-term effects. Candidates with paler complexions that have darker body hair usually get the most favorable results with laser hair removal. There are several reasons that you will want to give laser hair removal some good thought before jumping in. There has been no medical proof that laser hair removal is completely safe or effective. And it is difficult to establish a set yardstick of regrowth rates, because every body is diverse. The process does not work as well on gray, red, or blonde hair, and people with darker skin tones or on people who tan themselves really need to approach it carefully. There is a risk of burns, abrasions, or skin discoloration as a result of the procedure. Since it can take several sessions to complete the preferred outcome, the cost of laser hair removal can be quite expensive. Some people do not react to the process at all, which can be a waste of time and money. As with most types of cosmetic surgeries or procedures, the cost of laser hair removal differs by geographic area, and by the practitioners that perform the procedures. If it is the bread and butter of a business, the cost might be significantly higher than if laser hair removal is performed by a plastic surgeon or clinic that specializes in several types of procedures. If you are a good candidate for the procedure, there are a few other factors that might have an effect on the cost of your laser hair removal. If you require several treatments, if you have a larger area that you wish to have treated, or if you have particularly dense or thick body hair, laser hair removal might be more costly than average for you. When you are looking for a practitioner, try to find special offers, and check to see if the office you choose offers financing. When looking for a practitioner that performs laser hair removal, not only do you need to consider cost, but you also need to consider the reputation of the business you are interested in. Schedule several in-office consultations with the practitioners that would perform the procedure on you. Make sure the office is clean, and make no commitments until you have had the opportunity to speak to other patients that have had the procedure done. It is important to know the risks, physically and financially, of laser hair removal. It is important to know that it isn't necessarily a permanent solution, and that the cost of laser hair removal can be quite high depending on your individual situation and your geographic location.

What to expect from a home pregnancy test

A home pregnancy test is a quick and efficient way of finding out if you’re pregnant. They have a high accuracy rate (about 97%) and are available from most drugstores. If you are unsure how a pregnancy test works, read on! How does a home test work? When a woman is pregnant, she starts developing a hormone called HCG. Basically, these tests measure the amount of this hormone in your urine. Home pregnancy tests vary in sensitivity so depending on the one you have purchased, some may detect pregnancy earlier on than others. If you are unsure to this, read the instruction or back of packs and they should be able to tell you how sensitive that particular home test is. When to take a pregnancy test There is no one answer as to when to take a pregnancy test. Again, this is dependent on the particular brand of pregnancy test you purchase. Some tests state they are able to detect pregnancy as early as six days after ovulation but the most accurate tests are those that detect pregnancy about 14 days after ovulation. For most women, this falls mid-way through their ovulation cycle. Even if your menstrual cycle is very regular, it is safest to wait at least a week after your period was last due before taking a pregnancy test. This ensures the most accuracy. How accurate are home pregnancy tests? Research suggests that pregnancy tests are about 97% accurate. Although false positives can occur, this is very rare. As long as you follow the given instructions, these tests should give you a reliable result. Taking a test before your period is due is not recommended. As aforementioned, for the most reliable results, it is best to take a test after your last period is due. Negative tests which later on turn out to be positive are generally not due to the product being faulty or unreliable, but rather, the test was probably taken too early. Of course the most accurate way to find out whether you’re pregnant is to see a doctor. Should I take a home pregnancy test? If your period is late or if you are suffering from possible morning sickness and sore breasts, more than likely you are pregnant. Before taking the next big step in seeing a doctor, taking a home test is a great alternative. If your period is late, this means that you are already post-ovulation and this is the best time to take a test. Remember that whilst the pregnancy test is very reliable, it is customary to go see a doctor to confirm the results and to wait the 3 month safety period before announcing the news.

This is especially true for a long-term relationship because this tells her you are still creating something wonderful and appreciate her. Here is something you may not have thought of, and that is, when you buy a woman flowers and send it to her place of business, you, will be the one well thought of! The number of times I have heard other women oooh and ahhh over someone getting flowers at work and say: “you’re so lucky to have to have a husband/boyfriend who will send you flowers”! “I wish my husband would do that”! Then you do the magic thing and send her flowers twice in a month! Your status among the other women has just soared and you are viewed as a rare breed of men. Heavy sigh! (More sappiness) Most women just plain love getting flowers and trinkets period! Will it ever go out of style? I think not. This is a long-standing tried and true formula that works and I think will still work in the future.

But despite all the risks of buying handbags on the Internet, you can still make a safe choice if you take note of the following guidelines to buying handbags on the Internet: 1. Make sure you buy your handbag on the Internet only from dealers that are authorized and registered. There are a dozen and one online sellers of handbags, but don't rush into buying from just anyone, until you can confirm that they are genuine. You can check with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to confirm whether the dealer is recognized or not, before placing your order. This simply act can help you protect your money from fraudster handbag dealers. 2. Before playing your order for a handbag on the Internet, check the contact details of the online dealer. What you need to know about pubic hair removal

These days, there is much controversy surrounding the subject of pubic hair. In particular, the buzz is mostly about whether or not the hair in this very private area should or should not be removed. If the decision to remove pubic hair is made, just how much should actually be removed? Is a trim sufficient? Should the bikini line be free of unsightly, coarse black curls? Or should a woman jump on the bandwagon and go for the much-hyped Brazilian wax? It seems that waxing is by far the pubic hair removal treatment method of choice for most. Waxing is relatively inexpensive, and in most cases, is only temporarily uncomfortable, mostly during the time of the actual procedure. When it's over, the skin in the pubic area is soft and stubble-free. Waxing is not a permanent hair removal treatment. With this process, the hairs are simply pulled out of the hair shafts. Hair will grow back in a few weeks, which means that the waxing process will have to be repeated for as long as the effect is desired. However, some people claim that the hair that does grow back does diminish over time and that these hairs grow back with a different texture: they're finer and not as course as they once were. Because it is possible that repeated plucking of the hairs out of their shafts may ultimately damage the actual hair follicle, the point from which the hair grows, future hair growth can be affected. Another benefit of waxing is that it enables a person to better control the location of the pubic area that is to be hair-free. It's a quick process, and one that a person can do on his or her own, if desired. However, there are plenty of people who will perform this hair removal technique for you, if you're willing to share this very personal encounter! Many waxing products are available but be sure you read the label before purchasing. You want a waxing product that is safe to use in this area. Sugaring is a technique that is similar to waxing. But instead of using wax, which can be messy and difficult to clean up, a sugar-based organic mixture is used instead. Generally mixed with honey and lemon, the sugary paste concept has been around for centuries. The paste is applied to the skin, and as it hardens, it traps the pubic hairs. Once it has paste hardened, it is pulled very quickly from the skin, removing the hair as it goes. Waxing or sugaring generally won't cause skin irritation like shaving and chemical-based depilatories often do. And these methods are far less expensive than laser treatments and electrolysis.

What you should know about a yeast infection

Yeast Infection is a fungal infection of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans is probably the most common. Yeast organisms are always present in all people, but are usually prevented from "overgrowth" by naturally occurring microorganisms. At least three quarters of all women will experience candidiasis at some point in their lives. The Candida albicans organism is found in the vaginas of almost all women and normally causes no problems. However, when it gets out of balance with the other "normal flora", such as lactobacilli, which can also be harmed by using douches, an overgrowth and symptoms can result. The use of oral contraceptives and some antibiotics, and diabetes mellitus can lead to an increased incidence in yeast infections. The most common symptoms are itching and irritation of the vagina and/or vulva, and a whitish or whitish-gray discharge that may have a "yeasty" smell like beer or baking bread. It may resemble cottage cheese. Many women mistake the symptoms of the more common bacterial vaginosis for a yeast infection. In a 2002 study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, only 33 percent of women who were self treating for a yeast infection actually had a yeast infection. Instead they had either bacterial vaginosis or a mixed-type infection. Currently, bacterial vaginosis can only be diagnosed during a doctor's visit. Candidiasis is alleged to be successfully treated either with home remedies or, in the case of a more severe infection, with either over the counter or prescription antifungal medications. Home remedies for candidiasis include the consumption or direct application of yogurt, which contains lactobacillus, "friendly" bacteria that kill yeast, acidophilus tablets or salves, and even lightly crushed cloves of garlic, which yield allicin, an antifungal. Boric acid has also been used to treat yeast infections when gelcaps are filled with boric acid powder and two are inserted at bedtime for three to four nights. Another remedy is to douche with a weak mix of "Baking" soda in water (1 teaspoon to 1 cup). Baking soda is alkaline and changes the vagina's acidity temporarily to a higher alkaline environment in which candida cannot survive. While home remedies can offer relief in minor cases of infection, seeking medical attention can be necessary because the extent of the infection sometimes cannot be judged well by the sufferer. Prescription medication is often the only solution to an infection; the antifungal drugs commonly used to treat candidiasis are topical clotrimazole, topical nystatin, fluconazole, topical ketoconazole. In severe infections, generally in hospitalized patients, amphotericin B, caspofungin, or voriconazole may be used. These medications are not effective against the more common bacterial vaginosis. When early signs of menopause strike women

Signs of menopause could strike women with as early as in their late 30’s. And although the average onset of menopause would normally occur when a woman has reached 51 years, there are women of 40’s and 50’s who were already confronting early signs of menopause process. Menopause signs – How do they afflict women? Menopause occurs when the ovary of the woman has ceased functioning. Female hormones are the active glands when female body characteristics are developing. These hormones are sourced from the ovary. When the ovary has stopped functioning, this means that there will be no more hormones that could regulate the development of the body and as well as regulating menstrual cycle or pregnancy, thus, the onset of menopause - with which a gradual process of body transition would be experienced. What are the early signs that a woman is entering her menopausal stage? The very common sign that a woman is already undergoing the first phase of her menopause is when she is already experiencing irregularity in her menstruation cycle, without appearances of other medical reasons for this experience. It should not be confused, however, that women who have fluctuations with their hormone level production are undergoing menopausal transition. By medical definition, menopause process is attributed to the absence of menstrual cycle in 12 months period. Before your last menstrual period, you will start experiencing the very first sign of menstruation transition: varying menstrual cycle lengths. This is called “perimenopause”. At this point, you will already be experiencing different early signs of menopausal symptoms. These signs could be distributed to your physical, psychological, and sexual aspects. The fluctuation and falling of your hormone production may last for several years, depending on the ovarian function or activity that women may go through. Signs leading to menopause symptoms may procure intermittent changes in the woman’s daily and nightly activities. The following signs are manifestations of menopausal symptoms: Physical signs of your menopausal cycle are hot flashes, palpitations, insomnia, night sweats, headaches, and joint aches. These signs are often the results of your body’s temperature control. Psychological signs, on the other hand, are the results of the hormonal changes, in which different levels of emotional stress are experienced. You may encounter mood swings, from irritability to anxiety; from the difficulty in concentrating or forgetfulness; and from the difficulty of coping to easy feeling of stress and pressured moments. You will also experience a gradual change with your sexual habit. You may have discomforting moments during your intercourse. This is the cause of vaginal dryness – an occurrence because of low estrogen level. Your interest in sexual activities may gradually decrease. After the last month of your menstruation period comes your “postmenopausal” stage. During this time, in which it encompasses all of the period after perimenopause, you will be experiencing severity of the discomfort you earlier have gone through. These can include urine infection (may lead to discomfort on your passing urine), frequent passing urine whether at daytime and nighttime, leakage of your urine, vaginal dryness and even itching or burning, and vaginal discharge. As your estrogen level gets affected by the fall of collagen production, the protein needed in maintaining your skin, tendons, hair and nails, you may also see marking changes from those body parts. Skin dryness, hair thinning, and growth of unwanted hair may occur although some of these occurrences can be attributed to ageing.

    When is my menopause started

There are some women who wondered and worried about what will happen when they reach menopause. Menopause is not a scary moment. So, don’t be scared. In fact, menopause can be a positive experience. It is a chance for all women to focus more on themselves and make changes that will improve their health. There's no way of predicting exactly when your menopause will occur. In other words, each of us has an internal biological timer that is programmed before birth to set off the hormonal events that trigger both the start and the end of menstruation. It seems most likely that our individual genes determine the age at which we experience menopause. But there are things you could do to understand more about menopause. The first step is to learn all you can about the physical and emotional changes that may be ahead of you. In a survey asking women what was the worst thing about menopause, most said, "Not knowing what to expect." One woman added, "You wish someone would tell you -- but you're too embarrassed to ask anyone." In past generations, many women were too embarrassed to discuss menopause, even with other women friends. Today, thanks in large part to the rise of the women's movement; menopause is talked about more openly. Many women still remain in the dark about the details of menopause. One survey, for example, found that most women think the average woman experiences menopause at age 45, when the actual average age is between 50 and 51. Also, most women significantly overestimate the length of time the average woman experiences hot flashes, believing it to be five years rather than two. Although most women experience similar symptoms of menopause, not every woman experiences all the symptoms. Here are some symptoms you can acknowledge: - Some women may have frustrating symptoms that start during perimenopause and continue once they have reached menopause. - Hot flashes have become the hallmark symptom of menopause. Hot flashes are a feeling of sudden flush or warmth, often followed by sweating. They can cause serious discomfort and sleepless nights for some women. Other symptoms that can start in perimenopause, but also might continue once you reach menopause include: - Night sweats (hot flashes that happen while you sleep) - Sleep problems - Mood changes (mood swings, depression, and irritability). - Vaginal problems, including vaginal dryness and irritation that can cause pain during sex and pelvic exams, and frequent vaginal infections; urinary problems, including burning or pain when urinating, or leaking when sneezing, coughing, or laughing problems with concentration or memory; less interest in sex and changes in sexual response; - Weight gain - Hair thinning or loss
