    Steve nash nba career

Born on February 7, 1974, Steve Nash currently plays the guard position for the Phoenix Suns. He stands 6'3" tall and weighs 195 lbs. While attending college in Santa Clara, Steve Nash was named as the West Coast Conference Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons. His collegiate basketball career wrapped with him being the Bronco’s all-time leader in career assists, free throw percentage and 3-pointers made and attempted. In 1993, Steve Nash could be found playing for the Canadian National Team and winning a silver medal. In addition, he played for British Columbia in the 1993 Canada Games, which earned him a bronze medal. The 1996-1997 season marked the rookie year for Steve Nash. As a rookie, he started only one game but later proved himself after having his 3-point accuracy noted as the second-best ever for a Phoenix Suns rookie. The following season, from 1997 through 1998, Steve Nash worked hard to improve his ‘points per game’ average and became one of the most improved players in the league. The following year, which marked the 1998-1999 season was trying for Steve Nash, who suffered a lower back injury that caused him to miss the final 10 games of the year. He still managed, however, to play in 40 games and continued to improve his ‘points per game’ average during those games that he participated in. Yet again, difficulty struck Nash in the 1999-2000 season when an ankle injury took him out of 25 games during the season. He appeared in 56 games that year with 27 starts and an average of 8.6 points per game. As things began to look up for the youngster, the 2001-2002 proved to be his best ever. During this season, Steve Nash scored an average of 17.9 points per game, which marked a career-high. In addition, he was the only Maverick player to participate and start in all 82 games during the season. Fans who thought the previous year’s games were plentiful found themselves excited to see another brilliant season from Steve Nash, who ranked third in NBA assists during the 2003-2004 season. The 2004-2005 NBA season marked great honor for Steve Nash, who joined an elite group of athletes to ever be named as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the guard position. He was named to the NBA All-Star Team for the third time in his career and finally began to garner the recognition that he had worked so hard to achieve. In 2005-2006, Nash was awarded his second consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player Award. As the years have progressed, Steve Nash has improved his game and has proven that hard work and persistence really does pay off. After starting his NBA career with struggling ‘points per game’ averages and several injuries, Steve Nash made a comeback that kept coming back season after season. Fans who would like to request a signed photo or simply send Steve Nash their best wishes are urged to do so in care of his NBA franchise team. If you are requesting an autograph, be sure to include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) along with your request. Letters and requests should be mailed to: Steve Nash Phoenix Suns 201 E. Strange exchange

Just when you think the sports world has produced every possible bizarre trade imaginable, they still manage to top themselves ... A broadcaster for a rabbit. And a cartoon rabbit, at that. When baseball journeyman Harry Chiti got dealt to the New York Mets for a player to be named later, little did he know that player would be him. The Chicago Cubs could spare a backup catcher during the early season, and apparently, the Mets saw enough of Chiti afterward. So, when they later gave a list of players from which to choose in order to complete the deal, Chiti's name was there. Perhaps their choice said something about the other players, but there can be no doubt that the Cubs got equal value in return. At least that transaction was a player-only deal, albeit only one player. Transactions involving no players have had various impacts on the teams involved. An obvious example was a swap between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. In mid-season, they managed to trade managers. Jimmy Dykes was shipped to the Tribe, with Joe Gordon moving to the Motor City, making it the only deal of its kind in North American sports history. Both were probably disoriented for the rest of the season, but they'd surely agree that it beat being fired, which is usually what happens when teams want to jettison their skipper. However, there was a more notorious no-player deal. It might have happened more discreetly, except it affected New York Yankees. The year was 1972, and while half a decade had passed from The Summer of Love, pitchers Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson kept its spirit alive. They and their wive were close friends. Really close. So close, in fact, that during spring training of the next season, they wound up making a trade of their own. When Marilyn Peterson changed houses with Susanne Kekich, it was news which made more than the agate type in America's newspapers. Said Yankees general manager Lee MacPhail, "We may have to call off Family Day." A bag of baseballs isn't nearly as hot for headline fodder. So, when minor-leaguer Tim Fortugno was unceremoniously moved to another team in return for one of those bags, we can only imagine that the amount of $2500 in cash got tossed into the deal to make him feel better. Much more cash was put on the table in 1919 for an emerging star named Babe Ruth. The Boston Red Sox had just completed a lousy season and owner Harry Frazee wanted to unload salaries. He also had his eye on Broadway, so he sold Ruth to the Yankees for $125,000 and a $300,000 loan (with Fenway Park serving as the collateral). Frazee used the proceeds to stage 'No No Nanette,' the sprightly musical that gave the world tunes such as 'Tea for Two' and can still be found up in lights to this day. This is the deal that gave rise to the Curse of the Bambino, which may have affected the Red Sox for so many years, but Frazee did very well by it. Ruth justified his title as the Sultan of Swat in 1927, becoming the first player in history to hit 60 home runs in a season, a revered record that would stand for 34 years. That wasn't the only notable achievement in 1927; Walt Disney also brought the first cartoon rabbit to the silver screen. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit looked like a rip-off of Felix the Cat, and he probably was. However, cartoon characters were a novelty back then, so Oswald enjoyed a measure of commercial success. In fact, Disney was certain he could expand the rabbit's fame if he had a bigger budget, which is why he traveled to Universal Studio's head office and requested as much. The studio refused, even showing their power by cutting the budget by 20% and telling Disney to like it or lump it. Chagrined, Disney quit and decided to work independently. He was certain he could create another cartoon character to help him realize his visions of commercial success. We now see that the empire built around the fame of Mickey Mouse never forgot its origins. When the ABC network decided to move Monday Night Football to its subsidiary, ESPN, long-time broadcaster Al Michaels decided he didn't want to accompany it. He expressed a preference to remain paired with virtuoso analyst John Madden, who left to join NBC, which had acquired the NFL's Sunday Night Football broadcast rights. Michaels' career was launched at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. He exclaimed to the USA, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" when the American hockey team completed the biggest upset in team sports history by defeating the Soviet Union's juggernaut and paved the way to an improbable gold medal. One of the best in the business, Michaels ultimately moved to the prime time of Monday Night Football and stayed there for 20 years. NBC saw his addition to their broadcast team as a natural move. ABC saw an opportunity, too, and the idea of a trade was broached. ABC is owned by the Disney empire. They noted NBC's association with Universal and decided it was time to bring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit home. Dick Ebersol, president of NBC Sports, did a double-take. He accepted the trade package for Michaels containing cable rights to golf's Ryder Cup through 2014 and expanded access to Olympic highlights, but he had never even heard of the cartoon rabbit. Michaels took being swapped for a cartoon pioneer in stride. "Oswald is definitely worth more than a fourth-round draft choice," Michaels said, referring to the compensation that New York's Jets got for releasing head coach Herman Edwards to the Kansas City Chiefs. Walt Disney's daughter, Diane Miller, is thrilled, saying "Having Oswald around again is going to be a lot of fun." And so it came to pass that the strangest sports trade to date was sealed. NBC got the polished veteran it wanted, while Disney could be hoping their re-acquisition can earn a Comeback of the Year award. For Oswald, it's going to be a brand new ballgame.

Strategic wagering for major league baseball mlb ii

In the last article “Strategic Wagering for Major League Baseball,” the basics of straight and side bet wagering were explained. By understanding those basics you can garner an understanding of strategic and tactical wagering. As a MLB sports enthusiast, you enjoy the game and follow teams and players. If you’re really into it, you’re probably able to rattle off the stats of a majority of the teams, knowing all the important facts and figures. You feel you have a firm understanding of a team’s potential to win or lose. If that’s the case, then you’re ready to test your MLB knowledge and analytical abilities against those of the professional handicapper. Assuming you have basic understanding of straight bets, run lines, money lines and over/under wagering, you need to consider the more esoteric forms of wagering, such as specified pitcher, parlays, if bets and reverses. Major League Baseball is one of the most unpredictable and fickle bettors’ games in all of sports. Many enthusiasts can recall incredible strings of statistics, history and facts about their favorite team. To the casual observer, some of this data may seem trivial, such as a pitcher’s ERA in day games verses night games or perhaps the win/loss record when a particular umpire is behind the plate. All things considered, they are not trivial to the baseball aficionado. They are “clues” that must be considered when wagering on an outcome. Sorting through the endless amount of information is a challenge, sometimes making analysis a daunting task. Baseball, a game bound by the laws of physics, often conforms to probable outcomes. However, like any game, there are often improbable outcomes, making handicapping difficult. In the game, there exists that important and unpredictable element of human interaction. One thing any bettor has to realize is that in making intelligent bets based on stats, former player performance and a team’s present line-up, they can never be right 100% of the time. In fact, professionals who are genuinely skilled at handicapping are right approximately 60 to 65% of the time. If you’re going to wager in a variety of ways, going beyond the straight bet, run line and money line, then you must use every resource you possibly can. This means that a good Internet sportsbook can be invaluable to helping you achieve success. Many have called MLB the most cerebral of sports. Odds makers use various strategies in determining the favorite, always analyzing a range of the most recent team and individual player statistics. Home field advantage, field surface, and time of game are also considered. The experts do not base their decisions on hunches, and you shouldn’t either. With the Internet, there are numerous wagering opportunities that didn’t exist a decade ago. Here are some bets, beyond the basic ones, in which you can engage. One specified pitcher: A bet is placed against a specified pitcher, regardless of the other starting pitcher. Both specified pitchers: A bet is placed that specifies both starting pitchers as posted, any change in pitchers constitutes no action. If Bets: A combination of conditional straight bets (2-6 picks) in one single play. Wager a fixed amount on one team, and if that team wins, bet another fixed amount on a different team. Single action if bet: Play continues if previous play wins only. Double action: Play continues if previous play wins, pushes or cancels. Reverses: A combination of 2-8 picks combined in all possible two team If bets and then reversed. Reverses are always double action. Parlays: Consist of picking teams or totals and combining them together into a single play, or wager, creating only one risk. Parlays then, are basically a collection of straight bets. The trick to parlays is that all your straight bets must win for you to win your bet, however the payout is much better than you would realize on single straight bets. For example: Let’s say you bet $100 on the Mets. You risk $110 to win $100 (the juice on a straight bet is 10%). Then you place a separate $100 bet on the Giants. Again, you risk $110 to win $100. That’s $220 to win $200. If you had bet the same $200 in a 2-team parlay you would have the chance to win $520 (This total includes your original wager of $200; thus if you do win, you’re up $320, which is $120 more than you’d realize from your two straight bets.) The parlay payouts are as follows: 2 teams pays 13/5 3 teams pays 6/1 4 teams pays 11/1 5 teams pays 20/1 6 teams pays 40/1 7 teams pays 70/1 8 teams pays 100/1 How do you get started? Start looking for MLB wagering with an Internet search engine. Wow, there are so many sites! The Internet site you select should have a full section dedicated to MLB, providing live lines and odds, the latest information on baseball and expert commentaries. It should also take bets. You’ll find that some sites have daily live radio shows on the web about sports and sports betting. Additionally, the better sites create additional interest by sponsoring MLB wagering contests. Does the site you’re considering offer other sports betting and wagering opportunities on all of your other favorite sports, including the NFL, NCAA football, the NBA, NCAA basketball, the NHL, soccer, horse racing, boxing and casino and card games?

Strong leg muscles really can make a world of difference

Apart from the weight machines, some of the most effective machines in a gym are the walking, running and climbing machines. Walking and running machines include steppers and treadmills, while climbing machines have pedals that you push with your feet, making it feel like you are climbing stairs. The reason these machines are important is that they exercise our leg muscles, which are some of the most useful muscles in our body, but at the same time some of the weakest. After all, we are descended from apes, who didn’t walk upright – in evolutionary terms, we’ve only just started walking, and our legs aren’t all that great at it yet. Building good muscles in your legs will help you stay on your feet and go for long walks, hikes or runs without feeling tired quickly, like so many people do in this age of the car. Once you get started, you might even want to take up walking as a hobby, and the more you walk, the better your leg muscles will get. But in that case, why not just go for a real walk, or climb up and down real stairs? Well, you could do that, but you’d be leaving yourself open to the weather on the walk, making it difficult to have a regular walking routine, and while you could just walk up and down some stairs for half an hour each day, people would probably look at you a little oddly. Within a few weeks of using walking and climbing machines, you should start to feel more energetic – it is surprising how much of how much energy we feel we have comes from the strength of our legs. Even if we don’t realise it, we are on our feet for a lot of time every day – yes, even if you work in an office and drive to work – so strong leg muscles really can make a world of difference.

Stu unger rise and fall of a poker genius

Stu Unger is one of the biggest superstars to have immerged from the professional poker world. Besides being a true poker genius and a three time World Series of Poker champion, Stu Unger had a fascinating life story. It was not surprising that after his death Stu was the subject of a biography and a biopic. Stu Unger lived the life of a rock star including the quick rise to fame, the drugs, the comeback and the unavoidable death at an early age. Here you can read about the life story of the legendary poker player Stu Unger. The Beginning Stuart Errol Ungar was born in 1953 to a Jewish family who lived in Manhattan on the Lower East Side. Stus father was a well known bookmaker and his mother was too ill to fight against her sons fascination with gambling. After the death of his father, 13 years old Stu had found a father figure at his neighbor Victor Romano, one of the infamous Genovese family soldiers. Stu and Romano had at least one thing in common: they both had an incredibly sharp memory, which was mainly used in poker and gin games. By that time, Stu was already an accomplished gin player who had gained vast experience in winning gin tournaments. Stu dropped out of school to become a full time gin rummy player. The Genovese family had benefited from Stus talent. In return, they provided him protection from other gamblers who found themselves offended by his harsh and arrogant playing style. The Rise As a professional gin player, Stu had managed to beat all the professional gin poker players around. According to the rumors, Stu caused Harry Yonkie Stein, one of the best players around to stop playing gin completely after beating him in a gin match. Since he was out of proper competition, Stu decided to focus on playing poker professionally. In 1976, he and his girlfriend relocated to Las Vegas where they got married and had a girl, Stephanie. In 1980, Stu won the World Series of Poker Main Event after beating experienced poker pros such as Doyle Bronson. Stu was the youngest WSOP champion in history and was nicknamed The Kid. Even though Stu won the 1981 WSOP Main Event, he still considered himself more a gin and rummy player than a poker player. After winning his first WSOP championship title, he was quoted saying that the poker world would meet better no limit players than him, but no one will ever be able to play gin rummy better than he does. At the same time, Stu had tried to use his skill to grab money at the blackjack table. Nevertheless, the casinos were not happy with Stus presence around the blackjack tables and he was constantly barred. In 1982, he was fined by the New Jersey Gaming Commission for cheating, although Stu has not done anything illegal but using his natural skill and phenomenal memory. The Fall In 1990, Stu made another appearance to the WSOP. This time, he was heavily into drugs. He was a chip leader for the first three days of the event and then disappeared. He was found lying at his hotel room, unconscious from a drug overdose. However, it did not stop him from finishing ninth and earning enough money for his future cocaine supply. The Comeback After seven years of disappearing from the professional poker circle, Stu had returned to the WSOP. In 1997, he was broke, with damaged nostrils from cocaine abuse, addicted to horseracing and sports gambling, but still in shape to beat all the new contestants and gain back his WSOP Championship title. The local media was happy to embrace The Comeback Kid, but his success did not last long. The Death Stu Unger did not attend the 1998 World Series of Poker since he could not get the money to pay the entry fee. Seven months after Scotty Nguyen won the 1998 WSOP, Stu Ungar was found dead at his motel room in Las Vegas with 800 dollars in his pocket. Apparently, he died of a heart condition caused by years of drug abuse. The Biography Read: One of a Kind: The Rise and Fall of Stuey The Kid Ungar, The Worlds Greatest Poker Player written by Nolan Dalla, Peter Alson, Mike Sexton. Watch: High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story directed by A. W. Vidmer and starring Michael Imperioli, Christopher Moltisanti of The Sopranos, as Stu Unger

    Successful baseball betting

The season of MLB baseball is a long one, thanks to each team playing 162 games, and it’s filled to the brim with opportunity. The successful baseball bettor can make an excellent profit over the course of a season. Picking winners in MLB baseball is done by a simple win or lose wager. There are no point spreads in major league baseball. Baseball bettors can utilize the run line to minimize money line amounts. So how does one win successful over the course of a MLB season? Let’s take a look at a couple key ideas. Run Line Betting on baseball involves picking the winner on the money line. For example, if you liked the favorite and they were - $2.50, you would bet $2.50 for each $1 you want to win. Should you love the underdog and they are + 2.15, you would receive $2.50 for every dollar wagered. Sometimes you really like a favorite, but the money is far too high. Betting on $2.00 or larger favorites is not really the way to build up your bankroll. If you just have to bet the team, consider betting them on the run line. By giving up the 1.5 runs (so your team must win by 2 or more runs), you will greatly decrease the money line. If your selection is truly a good team, compared to the opponent, they will have s very good shot of winning on the run line. Pitchers You must know your pitchers to win in MLB baseball long-term. That’s a concrete fact and there’s no way around. In MLB Baseball, the pitcher is the dominant force. A solid pitcher can completely control the game and turn a decent team into a powerhouse for one game. Most sports bettors fail, because they name bet. This is when you bet on a team based on the name and reputation of the pitcher instead of looking at all the underlying stats related to the specific game. Instead of betting on pitcher just because of his name, here’s a short list of a couple pieces of information you want to gather and compare to the opposing pitcher. 1. What is his record against the other team (give extra weight to recent games)? 2. What is his team’s record again the other team when he pitches? 3. How does he pitch at the location the game is at? 4. How many innings does he normally pitch? What about against this opponent? 5. Has the pitcher been nursing any injuries lately or is he coming back from one? That’s five general questions you need to ask. There are more, but these are good to get started with. Managers and Scoring It’s good to know your managers. More importantly, know what their playing strategy is. For example, does the manager love to play “small ball” or does he play for solid hits and home runs? If the manager does not like to play small ball and is lacking power hitters and very solid OBP (on base percentage guys), scoring will be hit and miss. Managers that love to play small ball and have a fair number of guys with a good average and OBP will score runs fairly consistently. This does not mean they will win, but you can usually count on these teams to score a few runs on any given day. Now, let’s put it together. If you have a pitcher who generally gives up 7-8 hits and 1-2 walks a game and has a low ERA going against a “small ball” type team with a good number of players with solid OBP numbers, what do you think will happen? That pitcher is going to, potentially, give up some runs. However, if he is facing a more hit & homer type team, he could potentially freeze them out of runs. There are many more aspects to look at, but these three areas are critical to selecting baseball winners. Winning long-term is not just about picking winners, it’s also about getting good value on your wagers.

Summer camp activity plays large role in attendance

One of the largest deciding factors in selecting a summer camp is that of the summer camp activity that children will be exposed to during their time away from home. Swimming is a very popular summer camp activity and is likely to be explored if the camp is near a lake. Depending on the location, sailing and canoeing may be another popular summer camp activity that children can enjoy under the close supervision of camp counselors. These experienced individuals will be responsible for coordinating, and ensuring the safety of, every summer camp activity during the entire duration of the child’s stay. For children who cannot swim, hiking is fun-filled summer camp activity that allows children to explore and enjoy nature at its finest. Hiking trails, small streams and the beauty of the undisturbed wilderness is a sight that every child will enjoy and may even snap a few photos to remember their favorite summer camp activity. A disposable camera is one of the best ways that children can capture special moments with new friends, a popular summer camp activity that they always want to remember or to send home to their family. Every child enjoys some type of sport whether it is volleyball, football, basketball or table tennis. Much to their liking, sports is a very popular summer camp activity that all children can participate in. This is a popular summer camp activity, in part, because it shows children how to work together as a team and brings them closer together as they strive for a common goal. Sports are also an important part of physical activity, which will help children to remain active and will promote physical fitness. Not every summer camp activity is one that requires a lot of physical strength, however, as children will often be invited to participate in arts and crafts. This is a popular summer camp activity because it explores the creativity of each child and allows them to showcase their talent by creating something that is completely unique and may serve as a constant reminder as their time enjoying a favorite summer camp activity. Weather permitting; another popular summer camp activity is to have a cookout. Grilling hot dogs, hamburgers and roasting marshmallows are a terrific way for children to explore the world of cooking. Under the close supervision and participation of qualified camp counselors, everyone will enjoy a nice cookout under the sun.

    Summertime must include a waterpark

Summertime is officially approaching, and there are many things that everyone must do in the summer. I absolutely love summer, so my friends and family know to be ready for endless days and nights of fun as soon as summer rolls around. I just love summer. I love the fact that it is warm enough to be outside for as long as you want without having to bundle up, and I love that I can never run out of fun things to do with the people I love the most. I've started making a list of things that must be done at least once each summer, and going to a waterpark is on the top of the list. There are few ways to spend a day that is as fun and relaxing as a day at a waterpark. Whether you live on water, near water, or if there is no water anywhere near your home, you still need to go to a waterpark. Even the biggest and most beautiful lakes in the world cannot be a substitute for enjoying some time at a waterpark, so don't be fooled. A waterpark provides fun for people no matter what they like to do or how active or relaxed they hope to be. Another thing I love about visiting a waterpark is that they usually offer such a variety of things to do that people young and old will all find things they enjoy at a waterpark. You can take your grandmother and your young daughter and they will both find great ways to spend their days. I love it that all waterparks offer such a huge variety of activities. They are inclusive in nature so that fun is had by all. Especially if you do not live near water, visiting a waterpark is essential when the summer turns from warm to unbearably hot (which it eventually will). There is nothing like getting refreshed in water to make the hot summer days tolerable. And there is no better place to be refreshed than at a waterpark. Look for a waterpark near you before you plan your summer family vacation. See what kinds of deals you can get by planning ahead or by taking a crowd of peoplepare different waterparks and see what they have to offer. Be sure you choose a park that you and everyone you bring will equally enjoy. And have fun. A great summer day at the waterpark awaits you!

Sundays to remember intriguing matchups during the 2006 season

As we enter the “dead” time on the football calendar, we are presented with an opportunity to take a breath and see what we have to look forward to this fall. As is always the case, dozens of high-impact players have changed teams, new coaches have been hired, and not only will historic rivalries be renewed, but new rivalries will spice the schedule throughout the season. Below are ten of the most intriguing games this season. Week One New Orleans at Cleveland The debut of Reggie Bush and the new-look Saints will be taking place in Ohio against a team many feel can be a surprise in the NFL this year. New QB Drew Brees and new coach Sean Payton join Bush in attempting to topple Romeo Crennel’s much-improved Browns. San Diego at Oakland The debut of both San Diego QB Philip Rivers and Raiders coach Art Shell happens on the first week of the revamped edition of Monday Night Football. Shell is looking to take the Raiders back to prominence with a talented roster, and Rivers is looking to take the Chargers as far as he can. If Rivers can step in and perform, the Chargers will be dangerous, but “The Black Hole” on Monday night is not an easy first assignment. Week Three Denver at New England The Patriots will have a chance to draw a measure of revenge against the Broncos on Sunday night after Denver ended New England’s run of Super Bowl titles last season in the playoffs. The Broncos have added pieces to their roster, including WR Javon Walker, but you can bet that Tom Brady and the Pats haven’t forgotten what happened in Denver in January. Week Five Washington at the New York Giants LaVar Arrington paid the Redskins $4.4 million to become a free agent, and then he turned down what was reportedly a higher offer from the Green Bay Packers to play for the New York Giants. Arrington wants two cracks at his old team per season, and he’ll definitely be one to watch in a game like this. Arrington can be a terror on the field, and fans should expect quite a battle in the Meadowlands in week 5. Dallas at Philadelphia Week 5 is all about the NFC East, as the other two teams in the division will square off in what as of now is one of the most anticipated games of the season. The infamous Terrell Owens is thought by many in Philadelphia to be the main reason that the team’s 2005 season was a disaster. The Eagles rid themselves of what they saw as a cancer, and then that cancer signed with a bitter division rival. Owens is sure to be welcomed back to Philadelphia in a way that can only be done in the City of Brotherly Love, but will the venom present in the stands cause Owens to shrink under the microscope or to rise to the occasion? Week Eight Dallas at Carolina Two teams thought to be in serious contention for the NFC title this season are the Cowboys and Panthers, and this game could legitimately be an NFC Championship game preview. The Panthers added their own sometimes-controversial WR in Keyshawn Johnson, whose last team happens to be the Cowboys. Johnson will no doubt be motivated to show the Cowboys that they made a mistake, but much more could be on the line in this game. Week Nine Denver at Pittsburgh Although every season is different, one would be stretching it to insist that the Broncos won’t have revenge on their minds when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the team that beat them in the AFC Championship game in Denver last year. Granted, there are many places easier to gain revenge than the home field of the world champions, but this game could also mean a lot for playoff seeding, as both the Broncos and Steelers are expected to contend once again in 2006. Week Eleven Pittsburgh at Cleveland Not only is this an intense intra-division rivalry, but many believe that the Browns could legitimately challenge for a playoff spot this fall. The Dawg Pound will be barking loudly when the Steelers attempt to possibly stake a claim on the AFC North division in this late-season battle. This is one of those games where records usually don’t matter, but there could be much more on the line than pride here. Week Fourteen Tennessee at Houston Although most don’t expect either of these teams to contend for the championship, the sub-plot that is Vince Young could create a must-see matchup in Texas. Texans fans originally wanted Houston native Vince Young to be the top overall pick in the draft, but the team surprised everyone by drafting Mario Williams. Titans owner Bud Adams still owns the team that was once the Houston Oilers, and now he could be trotting out his erstwhile team with the hometown hero behind center. Week Seventeen Pittsburgh at Cincinnati Everyone wants a piece of you when you’re the champ, and people tend to forget that it was the Bengals who won the AFC North title last season. If QB Carson Palmer can come back from a devastating knee injury, the Bengals could be in the hunt for the division once again, and both Palmer and the rest of the Bengals will be looking for revenge against the team that ended their season this past January.

    Sunglasses the tool volleyball

Your sunglasses of volley ball can make or break your play. As no matter who who ever went to the beach knows, and that should include probably enough much of each one, the sun with the beach can be intense. If the sunglasses are a need for no matter whom with the beach, it is especially thus for players of volley ball of beach. The principal face players of volley ball of beach of difficulty must keep their eyes on a white flight of ball in front of the white hot sun! And not only that, but if something turns badly, the players of volley ball will have to seek the white ball on white sand. Indeed, it is the gleam of the sun in addition to sand which can be particularly brutal for players of volley ball of beach. They must also treat to plunge in sand and to obtain sand in their eyes. In order to treat all these situations, any player of volley ball of beach which wants to succeed should invest in a pair of quality of sunglasses of volley ball. Even the players rйcrйationnels will draw benefit from the sunglasses of high quality. They will be astounded how much more in the order they will cost, how much more sensitive to the movements ball they will cost now than they can really look at the ball without having a cast in pain. Indeed, it is not simply the players who want to succeed which should obtain good sunglasses. Moreover, if the objectives are more close to your eyes, they will provide a better prevention of sand obtaining given a kick in your face.

    Super foods for super health

We all hear about the many wonderful foods that are good to eat, and good for us. We always hear about eating fruits, and vegetables, and nuts. But that’s a big list to sort through, and wouldn’t it be simpler to have a few super foods that you can always turn to? To help you in your endeavors to lead a healthy lifestyle and a healthy life you can use the list compiled below as quick reference list of 9 super foods. These super foods and 14 others can be found in SuperFoods Health-Style, by Steven G. Pratt M. D. Apples Apples are a great food for many reasons including the ability to reduce the risk or heart disease, certain cancers, high blood pressure, and type-2 diabetes. They also benefit the respiratory system by preventing lung cancer and asthma. By consuming apples your body gets fiber, potassium and antioxidants, such as Vitamin C and polyphenols. Studies show that the real benefit comes from the synergistic interaction between these ingredients. To take best advantage of apples for your health, eat a wide variety and make sure that you eat the peel, which contains several times more antioxidants than the inside. As they say, eat an apple a day. Avocados When you want to help you body absorb more nutrients from the foods you eat, have an avocado too. Fat soluble phytonutrients, like beta-carotene, are more easily absorbed by the body because of the monounsaturated fat in the avocado. Avocados also help you keep your weight down because they help you feel full, which triggers your body to stop eating. They are calorie rich at 48 calories per ounce, so for best results eat one-third to one-half an avocado two to three times a week. Dark Chocolate When you want a little indulgence with your health food, try dark chocolate. It contains lots of polyphenols which lower blood pressure and is a natural anti-inflammatory. You should keep in mind that blood pressure lowering qualities are only in dark chocolate, but not in its cousin, milk chocolate. In 2000 a study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that the affect on blood flow from high flavonol cocoa was similar to taking a low-dose aspirin. These means that dark chocolate could possibly be used to treat ailments like minor pains or headaches. For the best results use Newman’s Own Sweet Dart Chocolate, as Dr Pratt has found it has more polyphenols than any other dark chocolate he has found. Like avocado, chocolate is high in calories, so shoot for no more than 100 calories a day. Olive Oil There has been much discussion lately about the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. Well olive oil is one of the main components of that diet and its benefits are outstanding. It is a great substitute for other oils and fats and has been shown to reduce the risk of breast and colon cancer, lower blood pressure, and improve the health of your cardiovascular system. For best results take a tablespoon a day of extra virgin olive oil that is cold pressed and greenish in color. This green color helps you spot high levels of polyphenols. Garlic Another component of the Mediterranean diet, Garlic is great for your cardiovascular system. By eating garlic regularly you can reduce your blood pressure, triglyceride levels and your LDL(bad) cholesterol. Garlic also has anti inflammatory agents and antibiotic properties. To grab all the health benefits of garlic eat one clove several times a week. Raw garlic is best, but cooked is good too. Keep in mind that dried garlic and garlic supplements don’t have the same benefits as fresh garlic. Honey Honey is not often seen on many lists of healthy foods, but don’t let that fool you. Eating honey daily increases the amounts of antioxidant in the blood, helps to prevent constipation, and reduces cholesterol and blood pressure. If you are running low on energy, reach for the honey, not sugar. Honey does a better job of maintaining blood sugar and energy than other sweeteners. And choose dark honeys over light ones, because they are higher in antioxidants and flavor. One to two teaspoons several times a week should do the trick. Kiwis If you want extreme quantities of Vitamin C and E that can reduce risk of asthma, osteoarthritis, and colon cancer, and boost your immune system, then grab a kiwi or two. An interesting point to keep in mind is that dietary vitamin E appears to lower the risk of Alzheimer’s, and by consuming kiwis, you get vitamin E without the calories that most other vitamin e rich foods contain, like nuts and oils. Another stellar ingredient is lutein, which lowers the risk cataracts and macular degeneration. To get all the above benefits and reduce the risk of blood clots, then consume one kiwi, two to three times a week. Onions For the benefits of onions, you can just reread the benefits of garlic, because they are pretty much the same. Try to eat dishes containing onions at least three times a week, and make sure that you let the onion sit for 5 to 10 minutes after you cut it open. If you apply heat too soon you will deactivate the thiopropanal sulfoxide, which is the substance in the onion that gives us the most heart benefits. And remember the more pungent the onion, the better it is for you. Pomegranates Pomegranates are packed with tons of phytochemicals like potassium, which is great for lowering your blood pressure. Studies also suggest that pomegranates can slow the progression of prostate cancer and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Instead of fighting with the little pulpy seeds to get your dose of pomegranate, try four to eight ounces of 100% juice several times a week. Be sure to stay away from juices with added sugar.

Surfing lessons learn to ride the waves

: Want to learn to surf but don’t know where to start? Surfing lessons are all about taking your surfing to the next level regardless of how much experience -- or lack thereof -- you may have. It’s all about conquering fear, learning water safety, expanding your ocean and wave knowledge, and returning to the true essence of surfing -- fun and relaxation! You’re never too old to learn to surf. People of all ages are drawn to the majesty of our beautiful oceans. If you feel the call of the sun and surf pumping through your veins, it’s time to find an instructor! Learning to Surf -- Finding an Instructor The internet is a great place to find instructors and research their backgrounds and qualifications. Regardless of your reason for seeking out a surfing instructor there are a few things that you should consider mandatory: A long history of surfing (preferably professionally to some extent), up-to-date first aid certification, proven (preferably certified) surf rescue experience, and a thorough knowledge of wave, weather and wind conditions (which should be commensurate with the instructor’s experience, i. e. The more time that they’ve been spent in the water, the greater their understanding of the ocean and weather conditions). There are many excellent surfing instructors throughout the world. Many have been involved in competitive surfing of some description or have at least spent enough time in the water to have a sound knowledge of the demands of the sport. If you’re on holidays at the seaside and just want to experience surfing as a holiday activity then you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a local surfer or local surf school that can give you a quick rundown of the basics and give you a quick ride or two on a board. In some of the more renowned surfing spots you’ll likely even be able to find a pro surfer to guide you to your first wave. If you’re a little more serious about your surfing, or want the complete surfing experience in the hands of a true professional, there are many professional/ex-professional surfers who can guide your development as a surfer and help you to get the most out of your surfing experience. Surfing greats such as Nancy Emerson, Corky Carroll and Frieda Zamba offer surfing lessons at some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Whether you’re a beginner and very wet behind the ears, or a professional surfer in your own right, these experienced professionals can help you hone your skills and develop your style, giving you more confidence in the water and in your ability to navigate waves and the surf zone. Depending on how serious you are about the sport, you’ll be able to choose from surfing lessons of a couple of hours at a time to surfing clinics and camps for more intensive training. You can learn to stand on a board and catch a small wave in a day, or work on form, style and ocean awareness with surfing legends over the space of several days to a week or more. Going It Alone? You may be fired up and ready to surf, but don’t jump the gun. It might be tempting -- especially in a beachside location or if you have friends that surf -- to just grab a surfboard and go for it. This is a bad idea for two reasons: One, it’s much easier to learn the right way to do things initially than to rectify bad habits and, two, you don’t want to spend your hard earned money on surfing gear (and, in particular, on a surfboard) before you’ve had some training and experience, because you won’t know what board best suits your style of surfing. Many surf schools will provide equipment for you to learn with. If you come across one that doesn’t then it’s usually possible to hire the necessary equipment from a surf shop. Have a couple of lessons first, maybe try a few different surfboards of various shapes and sizes (on hire from the surf shops), and then think a little more about what board is best for you. Your instructor should also be happy to give you some advice about where to start. Another good reason to not go it alone initially is because surfing, like any sport, can be dangerous for the uninitiated. The awesome power of the ocean doesn’t discriminate according to experience and even small breaks can have dangerous rips and currents. It’s far safer at all times to only swim and surf in the company of fellow beach goers. That warning stands for both new and experienced surfers -- an unknown break is always potentially dangerous. Any surf instructor worth their salt will make sure that you only surf in conditions that are safe for your level of experience. Aside from the possibility that a serious spill might put you off surfing for good, big water surfing without the necessary experience is irresponsible at best, suicidal at worst -- never surf in conditions you aren’t ready for, and only experiment under the watchful eye of a professional surfer or an experienced buddy! Most surfers will tell you that surfing is more than just a sport; it’s an existential experience, the ultimate rush, and it can be addictive. So get yourself an instructor, suit up, grab a board and hit the beach!

    Sweepstakes organizing your entries

If you are a serious sweepstakes a-holic, then you must devise a way to keep track of all the entries you are sending out. There are as many ways to organize your sweepstakes entries are there are to organize your monthly bills. The key is to find a system that works for you and stick with it. If you are not a “computer person,” don’t worry. You can organize the “old fashioned way.” Even choosing to keep a hard copy filing system, you will have options to choose from. Perhaps you will choose to file according to the sweepstakes’ deadline. Get an index card box and use dividers to break the box into 31 categories, one for each day of the week. File index cards with the contest name, sponsor, prizes and deadline on it. Also, leave a space in the upper left or right corner so you can track how many times you have entered the sweepstakes. This can be a running tally, so if you complete and mail 10 entries one day, you can make the notation on the card. As the deadline approaches, quickly add those tallies together to see if you need to send a few more to beat the cut off date. Since you will likely be entering sweepstakes several months in advance, include files in your system for the months following the current month. For instance, you might have 1-31 days in your file box for the month of May. Behind the 31st divider, have additional dividers labeled June, July, August, September and farther if you wish. Then, at the beginning of each month, rearrange your contests by deadline dates. You may find that keeping track of your entries in a spiral notebook is more helpful. You might have to look through a few entries, but you can record the same information and have it available at your finger tips without all the additional organizing and reorganizing you would have to do by the monthly index card method. For people who are computer savvy, file your information electronically. Use a spread sheet to set up your information. Spread sheets in programs like Excel are quite easy to set up and maintain. You can even have your spreadsheet total the number of entries per month, quarter or year that you are sending. Since technology allows us to enter sweepstakes by mail and Internet, it will probably be helpful for you to also record your method of entry no matter which filing system you decide to keep. This will help you keep track of how much money you spend in postage each month or year as well. Organizing your sweepstakes information can save you a lot of time in the long run. Since some sweepstakes limit the number of entries each person can have, either total number of entries or entries per day, knowing exactly what you are entering, how many have been sent and when the deadline is vital to making efficient use of your time. That’s just more time you can be entering other sweepstakes to win even more prizes!

    Swimming pool safety

If you have a swimming pool and a child, then safety has to be at the top of your priorities. This is especially true if you have a large swimming pool, which should be gated to prevent your little one from wandering into the water. It may also be necessary to place a lock on the gate in order to prevent a child from gaining access to the swimming pool area. Most small children love to splash around in a kiddie pool, which is very small and made of a strong plastic material. Specially designed for toddlers, these swimming pools are seemingly safe for play. However, if left unattended, any situation can turn into a dangerous one for your child. Therefore, any time that your toddler is in or near a swimming pool, whether big or small, make sure that you are with them. When it comes to swimming pool safety, it is equally as important to maintain the pool’s cleanliness and water quality. Regular maintenance would include sweeping the pool of any debris and possibly even hiring a swimming pool attendant to stop by and make sure that the area is properly cleaned. Every swimming pool needs to have it’s water cleaned and also changed regularly to avoid any bacteria or other harmful buildup. When you or your family are swimming, you want to make sure that the water is as clean as possible. A regular checkup of the swimming pool filter, if you have one, is also a necessary part of this process. An important part of swimming pool safety is also making sure that you or your children wear the proper water attire, including ear plugs to avoid excessive water in the ears and possibly even inflatable safety gear to help stay afloat. If you plan to spend a lot of time outside in the swimming pool, apply sunblock in order to lessen the damaging effects of the sun. At the very least, a nasty sunburn can be uncomfortable. In the most severe cases, it may require medication or may eventually lead to skin cancer if exposure continues. In many instances, families prefer to purchase a swimming pool cover in order to keep bugs and debris out of the water. This is helpful, but the water must still be cleaned properly and maintained just as if a cover hadn’t been applied. A swimming pool cover is terrific for overnight use and it will definitely help to keep the bugs at bay.

    Swimming pools and safety

Swimming pools are a part of a growing personal enrichment lifestyle especially in warmer climates. Swimming pools are a great way to increase your home investment but also get healthier using a convenient and positive method of exercise. Further, swimming pools are fun! In ground and above ground pools however come with a very definite demands for safety. Pools are an open invitation to children of all ages, including those that cannot swim. It's the responsibility of the pool owner to secure the pool area using automatic security functionality. Specifically, this includes auto closing gates and a secure fence. The fencing doesn't need to be of any specific material however. Clear plastic sheeting, wrought iron and even chain link is acceptable. The requirements are based on securing the pool area and not on esthetics. Depending on local codes, pool security can be a secure pool area or even the whole yard. Regardless of the area secured, fencing plays a large role in keeping kids safe and limits owner liability. Without good fencing and secure, auto closing gates, drowning can occur and the responsibility firmly rests with the pool owner. If however, the pool area has been secured, and someone ends up hurt, although the liability is still evident, the responsibility for the damages may be shared. The issue here is not liability however but doing everything reasonable possible to secure a potential place on your property where people can get hurt. Another option is the use of a pool cover. Pool covers can protect people but also help lower maintenance and water usage bills. Pool covers can be used to not only secure the pool but also keep it cleaner. Bottom line is that if you have a pool, don't forget the responsibility to make the area safe and secure.
